NY cop denies plan to cook, eat women

Gilberto Valle III, 28, is seen in this courtroom sketch with his attorney Julia Gatto (center) when he pleaded not guilty to criminal charges before Judge Henry Pitman (left) in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan, New York October 25.

NEW YORK - New York City police officer Gilberto Valle pleaded not guilty on Monday to conspiring to kidnap, torture, cook and eat women.

The 28-year-old, of Forest Hills, Queens, was charged and arrested in October with conspiring to cross state lines to kidnap the women and with illegally accessing a federal database.

Prosecutors said some of the women were acquaintances of Valle but it was not clear if he knew or had met all of them.

Valle, who an official said had no prior criminal record, was not charged with carrying out any of his suspected plans.

NYC cannibal case tests lines of fantasy, threat

At a brief hearing Monday in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, Valle's attorney, Julia Gatto, told the judge she would again seek to have her client freed on bail after two other judges previously denied her request.

Investigators uncovered a file on Valle's computer containing the names and pictures of at least 100 women, and the addresses and physical descriptions of some of them, according to the criminal complaint.

The complaint said he had undertaken surveillance of some of the women at their places of employment and their homes.

Gatto argued that Valle, a 6-1/2 year NYPD veteran, was all talk and should be released on bail.

The charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison.

All talk my ass. 100 women?! WTF. This guy has issues man. Especially if he's stupid enough to write it all down where someone could find and read it. Dummy!

No prior criminal record. Hmmmmmm. I wouldn't think so if he's a cop. I don't think you could become a cop if you "do" have a criminal record. That didn't make any sense...

Imagine if "you" were one of the ladies on his hit list. Freaky huh? Whew!

Riiiing.....Um, hello?.....Terry?.....Would you like to come over and have dinner with me tonight? Dinner's on me..... ;-)

NY cop denies plan to cook, eat women

When pressed on the witness stand he commented; "OK, I did plan to cook them but not eat them. I have some really good recipes I wanted to try out but I would never eat them. What do you think I am, an animal?"

I like to eat women. I draw the line at cooking them though, which incidentally seems to be the fine line women themselves draw between enjoying the experience and being terrified and tortured by it.

Well there is an upside. One good thing is that no woman was actually tortured, killed, cooked up and eaten. So regardless of whether he walks or gets some kind of charge, lets hope this entire ordeal scared the liviing shizznit out of him in hopes that he would never even think of attempting his disgusting thoughts.

Do we really want to incarcerate people based on what they might do? How far are we willing to take this?

Remember the movie Minority Report? It took place in the future where the police arrested potential murderers before they commited their crimes.

Have we reached that future?

Just asking.

All joking aside, a man is fighting for his life, the sentence being life in prison for just planning to do something? How many times have we all joked about something with friends. 5 dolla make you holla. OMG i just solicited prostitution. Or, saying "I really hate that guy, wish I could kill him" OMG I just conspired to commit murder. Just having women on his computer or in their binders of women shouldn't give you life. You all are so eager to give up your rights and let people imprison you for nothing. I've been there, i made a joke on my cell phone and was arrested for pimping women. never convicted, but cost me 25,000 in legal fees. The justice system is a joke and you all don't take it seriously making it a joke.

It's an interesting question whether he had gone far enough in his plans to cross the line and be guilty of a crime. There is just so much missing from this article that we would need to know.

Take the underwear bomber as an example. You can string out his scenario from starting out as just some guy all the way up through attempting to detonate his boxers. We hope it is possible to arrest and convict him at some point before he gets on the plane and tries to blow it up. He has to have the criminal intent and has to have taken some substantial overt action in furtherance of carrying it out. I don't know exactly where that line is drawn in New York law, nor do we know from reading this article what other steps he had taken besides apparently stalking some of these women.

Most of all, what makes them think he was planning to cook and eat his victims? Did he have recipes? (Steak Diane? A Rachel with fries and tomato soup? Top it off with a Bloody Mary?) Had he recently purchased unusually large kitchenware?

I wonder if the New York Times might have more local flavor in their coverage.

Yes indeed the Times has a good article

nytimes dot com/2012/10/26/nyregion/gilberto-valle-accused-in-plot-to-kidnap-women-and-cook-them.html

(link modified because I don't think I've been around long enough to be allowed to post links)

Based on the article I'd say they probably have enough to convict him of something, but I would think it would be something much less than conspiracy to kidnap. As someone else has mentioned, I hope it scares him straight.

No, it's strange that you're clueless and stupid enough to think that post is even remotely clever or funny. As for the sick twist defendant in this case, intent becomes criminal when it actually reaches the serious planning stage. That's why we have conspiracy laws. Whether he spends time in prison or not, he certainly shouldn't be wearing a police uniform or interacting with society.

If it was one of us making that kind of statement, we would be locked so far back in the insane ward/solitary confinement we wouldn't get out even for the trial. But a policeman does it, it's just laughed off - no big deal! We have a real problem in this country, holding our public "servants" accountable for really gross felonies. This animal needs to be locked away for life - and don't give me the bit of "rehabilitation" - the records show that you don't rehabilitate a pervert, they just get out and repeat.

Evidently, when New York cops can't eat enough donuts, they go after slow-cooked, tender, bit-sized women.

The question remain is how this cop go about selecting his victims. Does he scout, then pull them over on a pretense of traffic violation or reasonable suspicion? Then, having identified this victims and copying their driver license information for his personal use, how does he gain access to NYC's computer for additional research? Finally, how many dinners has he had with reluctant women as the main entree?

The meaning of "To Serve and Protect" is now clarified: To Serve women has a culinary meaning. To Protect means securing his meal.

With the rear guard action of the NY Police Benevalent Association, the Code of Silence and the Thin Blue Line...... we'll never know.

See, this is what happens when you won't let people buy 32oz sodas and keep making them buy 2 16oz sodas instead. All those extra cups make them loopy.

                @Raymond-1126037

It's true that we don't know his intentions and it is possible that it's purely sexual content, but I find it hard to believe he is 'all talk' like his attorney states. I mean, he even used the police database to find out some of these women's addresses, which in my opinion is a huge red flag. It was even stated that he was surveilling some of these women at their place of employment and homes, another big red flag. If someone really wanted sexual content involving cannibalism (obviously fictional), they could easily look up that stuff on the internet (because honestly, what isn't on the internet these days). But to go as far as this cop did, I don't think he would stop at just fantasizing...

In addition to the lists and descriptions had began taking action to complete his plan. Thats a lot of time and effort expended for something he was just talking about. But yeah, lets wink and nod and call it "boys will be boys".

In a case like this there should be enough different charges that when some or even one of them gets thrown against the wall it's gonna stick like wet spaghetti.

Look, don't eat people. They're high in cholesterol, full of chemicals, loaded with trans-fats, and what meat there is, well, it tends to be stringy, chewy and largely tasteless, especially Americans. They're overwhelmingly fat and lazy.

Now, if you really must, let me suggest prowling the southern boarder. Mexican is much tastier and better exercised, especially after that long hike illegally across boarders.

I never understand this. SOme guys who want to commit horrible acts or terrorism talk too much. Do they have inferiority complex or just mentally confused. Most of these duds have no criminal record but their head is liek a runaway computer.

Oh, well may be real cannibals out there. Like Dehmer, we will never know for years. But when one gets too lonely may be a good idea to go to neighborhood bar and unwind or get drunk and reset mind.

As terrible of a plan he had, from this article he is only guilty of stalking at best..

Technically, planning to kill someone, even if that someone is fictional, IS conspiracy to commit murder and you can be charged.

Yes, fictional, really. Though clearly it would be a desperate stretch to charge someone for conspiracy to commit against such an obvious fictional character. But let me give you a more applicable example:

A number of years ago, I was part of a improvisational theatre troupe. One story our troupe was enacting involved a plot to remove a person of power from his position. This character was James Edward McIntyre III. It was decided by the conspirators the easiest way to remove him from power would be an assassination.

As it came to pass, one of our troupe left a notebook in a public place, where it was found by someone who had no idea what that notebook was. But it did contain very detailed plans for an assassination, complete with names.

It did not take long for local police to investigate and track that notebook back to our troupe. Of course, it also took less than fifteen minutes to explain that said notebook was only that, a book of notes kept by a performer, and that none of the names in the book belonged to anyone more than fictional characters.

The local constablatory was not unfamiliar with our troupe, as we had put on many public shows, many of which involved "rented" uniformed officers, to assist with parking and to be compliant with local regulations regarding the assemblage of persons in public places, and they were quite understanding regarding our explanations, and urged us to be more careful with our notes and props in the future, as I explained before - plotting the death of a fictional character IS technically conspiracy to commit.

What we have here is a feeding frenzy. This man is already been found guilty by most viners after reading only half the story without much details.

I'm curious to know where did you people get your law degree?
