Prosecutors: New Jersey man says he fantasized about roasting children

Essex County Department of Correction

Robert Mucha has been charged with two counts of possessing child pornography.

In the complaint explaining why Robert Mucha, 56, was being charged with two counts of possessing child porn, federal prosecutors detailed what they said was the man’s fantasy of basting a 2-year-old boy in barbecue sauce, roasting him and then eating him like a Thanksgiving turkey.

Mucha, of Newton, N.J., was also charged with luring a 15-year-old boy to his apartment. He was arrested in July.

According to court records, Mucha maintained an account on Yahoo!, where he met with others to exchange pornography and to talk about raping, roasting and eating children.

Mucha allegedly maintained a lively online correspondence with a man from Kansas, with whom he focused on “the cooking and eating of prepubescent boys, with a particular interest in how they might abduct the children, drug them, roast them and, ultimately, consume them.”

The prosecutors allege that on one occasion, Mucha said to his online friend that it was “stupid” for Jerry Sandusky, the convicted Penn State football coached sentenced for 30 to 60 years for pedophilia, to have abused one of his victims in a gym shower – a semi-public location.

The prosecutors out of the U.S. District Court of New Jersey say that Mucha lured a 15-year-old boy he had befriended to his apartment. That night, they say, Mucha allegedly attempted to molest him, but the boy said he did not want to be touched. The boy soon after left the apartment.

Police searched Mucha’s apartment on July 25. Shortly after the search, police say that Mucha told officers about his fantasy about basting a toddler – and said that sometimes he imagines himself as the victim.

According to prosecutors, Mucha also said that he had made physical contact with “numerous teenage boys over the course of his life.” He allegedly told police that when he taught Drum & Bugle Corps in New Jersey, he watched young boys shower and occasionally joined them.

Prosecutors said he is also a member of websites dedicated to cannibalism and necrophilism fetishists.

Great, this monster lived two towns away from me. Glad the cops took him down. Have fun in jail monster.

The problem is that he hasn't actually done anything provable at this point, in terms of physical contact, outside of attempting to make out with a fifteen-year-old. And those cases tend to turn into he said/he said court cases with no physical evidence to introduce. To make real progress in keeping this individual away from kids, the police have to dig up witnesses from the drum and bugle years and lay down real charges. Two counts of child porn is like a legal slap on the wrist and probably as much as they can get on him at the moment, really. There are no strong laws against having sick, demented fantasies like he has (yet).

nor any others from their sick a$$ site has been charged.

Oh, but noooooo... that's his "freedom of speech" to say whatever he wants, so long as he doesn't go through with it, right? (At least, that's what some people will argue about this sick bastid. The old, "Hey, he can say whatever he wants! All they have him on is attempted molestation of a 15-year-old! He didn't actually kill a toddler. Freedom of speech, man!")

that's his "freedom of speech" to say whatever he wants,

And who decides where the line is? Referring solely to speech. Some find it offensive to speak of killing someone, "death penalty" above for example. Feel free to attack me for standing up for the Right of free speech.. that doesn't mean I support this creep.

What is more of interest though, as you noted yourself, is that it doesn't seem the prosecution has much on him so they have resorted to trying this case in the court of public opinion. Two counts seems rather few if this guy is really interested in child porn.... they could probably find that much on YOUR computer if you have had it online for a year or more. Sounds like you are right, the he said, he said, is already calling the entire case into question. Sounds like that speedy trial clock is ticking and the prosecution isn't ready.

Let's face it: anyone who does even one Google Image search could be hit with child porn charges. You can look up the most innocuous thing on the internet, and suddenly you're seeing someone's schlong coming out of their pants; it's not a far stretch that every computer has improper images on it of that nature somewhere.

Agreed 100% on you never KNOW what is on your computer. All it takes is some EXCUSE for them to search your system and if they don't like you they will find SOMETHING. Even running portable firefox or the like from a CD can leave things behind.

I hate to judge the guy by his mug shot.. and would NOT be the least bit surprised if he was a bit of a smartass. Look for this to be a plea bargain at best and a 15 minute of fame news story that we never hear about again.

          Blame the liberals? Seriously, dude?

Makes about as much sense as blaming Bush for this...

"How" is actually a good question - but unfortunately people are happy to give and get pat, one-line answers rather trying to figure out how to find and prevent this kind of garbage in the future.

This slug is known. His incredibly ugly mug is on the Internet with notice of what he is. My REAL concern is those nameless, faceless creatures who post on those "websites dedicated to cannibalism and necrophilism fetishists."

I doubt all of them resemble Jabba the Hut.

I had the same thought, Sue. Why didn't the police keep an eye on him and use him to track down the others in his sick circle of friends... Then find a way to nail as many as possible with a big net.

I'm guessing they went public at this point because their case is weak, and they're hoping more victims will come forward. Then maybe they can get some real charges laid against the piece of garbage.

Is it just me or does it seem like there are more and more very disturbed psychotic delusional people running around fantasizing about roasting and eating others. This group just needs to be euthanized the same as you would put down a rabid dog.

Stupid liberals and other ignorants will deny until our demise, but they are enablers of these things by giving themselves permission to live in Sodom and Gomorrah here in the USA in the 21st century. We shall reap what we sow !!

The world has always had this type in it, things only seem different because of the way that news is currently processed and served up to the public.

The flavor of the day has almost always been sensationalism of one type or another the more shocking the better.

Oh my god. This is disturbing but I find the comments here offensive too. Everyone is entitled to their own cravings and turn-ons. This guy's problem is that the brought it into the real world. I fantasize about catching and cooking children too, but I don't actually go out and do it. Sure, I write stories about it but usually the kids even get out alive and I certainly don't go out and abuse real life people. Not everyone sexualizes it either.
