Horrific, especially when compared to the little one recently shot dead while outside at 1:00 a.m. as mommy partied at a baby shower. This boy was where he was supposed to be. I hope the pedestrian is investigated along with the driver but this will not bring the child back. I'd offer condolences, but they're not enough. Tragic, unimaginably tragic.
The little five year old girl you are referring to is making a recovery after a stomach injury. They have arrested the man who did the shooting, thank goodness. It is awful such shooting are taking place. This senseless death, this family's life forever altered, the driver's, and injured people, didn't need to take place. If only a pedestrian had not illegally crossed in front of the bus. All preventable if only one person had used common sense. That is what is so tragic.
Next time just run the idiot over. Not worth risking the lives of the passengers or other people. How the hell do you not see a bus coming?
Thanks for the info about the arrest, W, went to up check your reply and accidentally hit my own. Never done that before, embarrassing.
I hope the bus driver has nightmares for life. An innocent child died because the driver was avoiding a stupid pedestrian. 2 idiots don't make a right.
Are you kidding me? I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
I have no doubt the bus driver is going to have nightmares from this accident. From similar traffic accidents I have worked on, when people have tried to avoid pedestrians and struck others, drivers had to respond quickly to those situations. None of them knew how the outcome will be. Usually they were trying to prevent harm to others and at times other traffic was moving which affected the outcome.
From the picture it looks obvious the driver was trying to avoid the telephone pole as well as the pedestrian. But there may have also been another car coming or parked from the other direction at the time. Which meant there was no other option for the driver. Had the driver hit the pole, it may have caused serious injuries to passengers on board. This is a very tragic situation and the driver may have actually done the very best to save lives.
Striking and killing the pedestrian was not the best option, no matter how much someone thinks it is. It is only the fault of the pedestrian who caused this accident. Not the driver who tried to save lives . I pray the driver will be able to get all the support possible to recover from this awful event and the family of the little child lost, find peace and strength from all who loved him.
It will be critical to know what the speed of the bus was and when the brakes were applied.
It is just totally a horrible thing to have happened.
The Feds will probably force people to wear seat belts while at home because this boy died (or at least make sure kids are in bed at 9:00 pm) and although others were hurt on the bus - they still will not make people wear them on a bus. This just shows that forcing people to wear them at all should be unconstitutional.
The person that was on the road should be charged with the death if he/she was not legally in the a cross walk. It also sounds like the driver did not have control of the bus and probably should be charged as well.
