Lawsuits between Strauss-Kahn, hotel maid over alleged assault settled in principle, source says

Former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn.

NEW YORK -- All civil litigation between Dominique Strauss-Kahn and the hotel maid who claimed that he sexually assaulted her has been settled in principle but no paperwork has been signed yet, according to a source familiar with the case.

The parties are expected to be in court next week in the Bronx to finalize the settlements.

The civil case emerged from the hotel-room encounter that spurred now-dismissed criminal charges against Strauss-Kahn, the former International Monetary Fund chief who was a likely contender to be the next president of  France before the scandal exploded.

The housekeeper, Nafissatou Diallo said Strauss-Kahn tried to rape her when she arrived to clean his Manhattan hotel suite. Strauss-Kahn denied doing anything violent during the encounter.

Lawyers for both sides are not commenting at this time.

See a timeline of the case here.

Prosecutors dropped related criminal charges in the summer of 2011, saying they had developed doubts about Diallo's trustworthiness because she had lied about her background and her actions right after the alleged attack.

Jonathan Dienst is chief investigative reporter for WNBC.

I am sure that Strauss-Kahn is no altar boy...but it disappoints me to learn that this gold digger is probably going to get paid.

I am sure that Ms. Diallo is no nun... but it disappoints me to learn that this serial rapist is probably going to get off with just paying hush money instead of ever serving time in prison.

I'm sure that neither of you are alter boys (or girls), but it disappoints me to see, once again, people with no real knowledge of the circumstances making judgments and passing out condemnations, based no doubt on ideology and improper "presumptions" instead of facts.

The Prosecutors had sufficient knowledge of this grifter's lies to drop the charges against DSK, as well as audio tapes of her plotting and scheming with her jailed boyfriend to shake DSK down for mega Euros, and they were also well of her notorious and well-documented history of lies (for example, to U.S. immigration officials, etc.). So, it is certainly disappointing that he is settling with her to eliminate this nuisance. Malheureusement, indeed!

David, S-K may be a horny old goat, but don't think he can be classified as rapist in this instance. Not too many rapists, however desperate, would risk an act which could easily allow their manhood to be guilllotined and digested unless you have a willing and skillful partner.

It should read ..."settled in PRINCIPLE" and NOT "settled in PRINCIPAL."

Is English really this difficult? Is good help this hard to find?

I've followed this from the beginning- and I originally took most of it at face value.

I now believe this man was a target of other powerful people.

After all- usually a case like this is never even a topic of discussion- it gets glossed over so fast that no one ever knows a shark just sucked someone under.

But there was a hook in this girl- and he lost his shot at real power because someone knew his weaknesses.

Someone knew how he'd react even before he did.

Good news is- no one that predictable belongs in a position of real responsibility- so someone saved us a lot of trouble before it even had a chance to start.

Sarkozy was re elected, so she got her payoff from that side. He won't pay her and she will settle for nothing with DSK.

It seems that not a month goes by without a high profile rape case that turns out to be a false accusation.
