Students and faculty mingle outside the police line on the Casper College campus Friday, Nov. 30, as police investigate a homicide.
Updated at 7:11 p.m. ET: A man killed a woman in Casper, Wyo., on Friday and then headed to the campus of Casper College, where he killed a man in front of students during a science class before killing himself, police said.
The man used "an edged weapon" — earlier described by police, college officials and eyewitnesses as a "bow and arrow-type" weapon — in all three killings, including his own suicide, Casper Police Chief Chris Walsh said.
Walsh wouldn't identify any of the victims, including the killer, pending notification of their families. College officials said the man who was targeted in the classroom was a faculty member, whom they also wouldn't immediately identify.
Walsh did say that all three victims were adults who knew one another and that the killer wasn't a current student at the college. The incident didn't appear college-related, he said.
The man appeared to have acted alone. "There is no one at large, and there is no threat of violence," Walsh said Wednesday afternoon.
Police found the two men on the third floor of the community college's physical science center, where they had been called to investigate a "traumatic injury" at about 9 a.m. (11 a.m. ET), Walsh said. Shortly after they arrived, they received a similar call involving an address about two miles from campus, where they found the dead woman.
All told, 33 local, state and federal officers responded at the campus, which was locked down temporarily while police checked for other suspects, authorities said. An alert on the community college's website said that all classes and activities had been canceled and that counselors were being provided for the colleges faculty, students and staff.
Casper College is a two-year community college of 4,400 students in Wyoming's second-largest city.
The school has a small security team on campus, but they're not armed.
"It's such a small town that Casper police is very close," Fujita said.

How interesting the racial comments are...I hope everyone of you haters loses someone close to you so the rest of us can make jokes at your expense. How rude and ignorant you are to belittle families who have lost a loved one. How many of you have even for one second thought this situation here in Casper could spark copycat killings. Yes there is substantial oil field money here, but not everyone cares to work in that industry. That's not racist, it is another label that has been widely accepted by everyone over the past three hundred or so years that we have been on this continent...So what do you see as racist? Help me understand...Discussion about the effects of a bow and arrow is not racist- ALL walks of life use bow and arrows on this continent and others (check your history books), circling the wagons is not racist- it was a tactic used to defend white, Anglo-Saxons that were under attack while migrating West during this country's early history.

I was in favor of Bows and Arrows..........until I took an arrow to the knee.
Frankly if I am going to die I would much rather be shot than stabbed or cut. I have an almost pathological fear of being cut. I also don't like the idea of hanging or drowning. Shoot me please. I have watched some of the beheadings done with dull Kbar knives on some of the porn sites and that just horrifies me beyond belief as I am a self admitted coward. I also saw one where a Chinese man hacked a woman to death with a meat cleaver. Yipes! What a horrible way to die. Then there are the self immolation videos. Make it quick and painless for me. Bang and lights out. Death by a thousand cuts or by fire or suffocation is not my cup of tea.

I'm troubled by the comments I've read. Instead of evincing compassion for the people who lost their lives and the friends and family that love them, the trend among the comments is to make jokes or express (often poorly) a political stance.

It's not the guns, it's not the arrows, it's not drugs, it's not sex, it's not violence on t.v., it's not war, it's not the educational system. It is kids being raised to believe they are entitled to have glorious lives, that we are all supposed to be friends, that we are all supposed to get a long, that everyone is special and gifted and talented and then those that do not meet up to those standards or who feel betrayed by those that should be their friends snap and kill people.
When my 10 year old comes home crying because a group of girls don't like her I don't say "oh, they are just mean, I will talk to your teacher, they are being bullies". I say " make your own friends, be who you are and if you acquire that one solid friend and if you stay true to yourself and love yourself no matter what other think, then life will be a lot easier. Not everyone is required to be your friend. Not every likes everybody else in this world and that is OK. Respect that and move on sweet heart. I love you, your Dad loves you, your family loves you and you will find others out in this world that like you for you. But the most important thing is you like yourself.". Now she has lots of friends a few in school, some in girl scouts. Kids need to be taught how to appreciate who they are and realize not everyone is going to like you, not everyone who doesn't like you is a jerk. Not everyone is "gifted". It's okay to not be a noble peace prize winner or doctor. Just be yourself, love yourself and the rest will fall into place.
You know I actually agree with most of that. We have developed into a society where it is give me, give me all time.Also, if you do not have what every one else has your a lesser person. Why so many kids have to compete with other kids by getting the latest IPHONE or IPAD or newest gaming system. We live in a sad world.

Last time I checked it was once every couple of years. At Columbine, the original plan was to blow the school up, using a Timothy McVie style bomb, in a duffle bag, not a truck, and pick off the survivors as they fled the school. So why aren't you calling for the ban of fertilizer & ammonium nitrate? 9/11 they used box cutters and killed more people than all these 'shooting sprees' ever have.

This isn't a nation based on Sharia law and no matter how many executive orders you decree, you cannot override the Constitution of the United States. People have a right to free speech and we also have a right to bear arms to protect the right to free speech. Just because you do not find humor in such a tragedy does NOT mean that those of us who use humor to compensate for the loss of life means you are right and we are wrong. Each person will cope and compensate in their own special way. Come down off your high horse, Sir, and just be a man and don't worry about judging us. Seriously? Do you honestly believe that the President of the United States has nothing better to do than worry about our morals? LOL Frankly he could care less what we do in our bedrooms or even in public for that matter. His issues are far more important and complicated than our petty concerns about social issues. Because of corruption in Congess he does have to fight somewhat of an uphill battle caused by their obstructionism and stubborn attitudes where they like to stimulate public opinion with such trivial issues.
Democrat or Republican it really doesn't matter much because our nation will not rise or fall because of libidenous sexual behavior or religious issues or drug use in our society. All of those mundane little issues have existed since the dawn of civilization in virtually every society that has existed. It is generally political corruption, greed, avarice, and power struggles that cause the downfall of any civilization. As for this kind of violence it will occur no matter what you do simply because human beings are unpredictable creatures just like any member of the animal kingdom. This is not something that any president or government can eliminate in a society.

If someone wants to kill someone does not matter if they have a gun. They will figure it out.
My sincere condolences to the victims.
Hopefully, the perpetrator will be found and prosecuted to the full extent of the law quickly.
