Police have a 30-year-old former deli worker in custody believed to be the suspect who pushed a subway rider off the platform and into the path of an oncoming train at 49th Street after an argument.
Law enforcement sources say the suspect has made statements to detectives implicating himself in the deadly push.
A law enforcement official told NBC 4 New York the man is suspected of pushing 58-year-old Ki-Suk Han off the platform at the N, Q, R station Monday afternoon. Han was hit by a southbound Q train and died.
Witnesses told police the suspect was mumbling to himself before he and Han began arguing on the platform.
A bystander recorded part of the fight between the two men and turned the video over to police, who released it to the public Monday night, and received several tips. The man who allegedly pushed Han is heard cursing and saying, in substance, "Leave me alone... stand in line, wait for the R train and that's it."
He then pushed Han onto the tracks, police said. Han tried to climb back up onto the platform but died after getting trapped between the train and the platform's edge.

The Q train operator, Terrence Legree, told the Daily News he saw the man in the tracks and tried to pull the emergency brakes on the train, but couldn't stop it in time. Even after he heard the sound of the train hitting the man and the locomotive screeched to a halt, Legree said he ran out of the control booth and tried to help the victim.
"If someone can be saved, you have to do what you have to do," Legree, a 21-year employee with the MTA, told the News. But Han couldn't be saved -- a tragic fact that had Legree struggling with an array of emotions and questions more than a day after the man's death.
“All kinds of emotions from ‘Why is this happening?’ to ‘Why was that guy down there?’ to ‘What happened?’” Legree told the News. He was treated for shock after the incident.
Police had released several photos and video clips of the suspect wanted for allegedly pushing Han into the path of Legree's train. A law enforcement official tells NBC 4 New York that co-workers from a nearby deli where the suspect works tipped off police that their colleague might be the subway pusher after they recognized his voice from video.
Investigators then saw the man on surveillance video in the street talking to street vendors outside the subway station, and when they went back to the area Tuesday, he was there, speaking with the same vendors, sources said.
One of the newsstand vendors told NBC 4 New York the suspect was a well-known face in the area and that he spoke to her Tuesday morning.
"I showed him the picture [released by police Monday] and he goes, 'Oh, that's not me,'" said Elizabeth Williston. "I said, 'Yeah, that's you!' Because yesterday, he had the beard, the hair. But today, he had shaved his head, shaved his mustache and everything."
Subway pushes are unusual. Among the more high-profile was the January 1999 death of Kendra Webdale. A former mental patient admitted he shoved her to her death.
Following that, the state Legislature passed Kendra's Law, which lets mental health authorities supervise patients who live outside institutions to make sure they are taking their medications and aren't a threat to safety.
R. Umar Abbasi, a freelance photographer for the New York Post, talks about the controversial photo he took of the man about to be hit by a subway train after being pushed onto the tracks, saying he was attempting to alert the driver and there was "no way" he could have rescued the man.

I think it is pathetic that the media would comfort the widow in her dark hour with the bright lights and cameras. The news media has no shame.
Totally agree. Also waiting for Bloomberg to use the opportunity to further promote banning guns and large sodas.
This was a racial hate crime. But what do you want to bet it will never be procecuted that way if they catch the suspect.
davefromdanapointca
Two questions. What makes you think it was a racial hate crime? What makes you think it wouldn't be prosecuted as such?
Pig,
If I have to explain it to you then you would refuse to understand it.
This is what you get when stupid Republicans deny mental issues with people. This is your America when you think people should be in jails instead of mental institutions. Look in the mirror America, it's your fault.
I always thought it to be dangerous standing right next to a train platform with no railings.
If you've ever seen them, it's like a 5 foot straight drop to the tracks with no protection. All the codes in the USA for stairs and "anything" over 18" high such as a deck on the ground, has to have a guiderail or railing.
They should only have small openings where the doors open and you cross over. This guy could've at least grabbed the railing and maybe would have had a chance.
My condolences to his family.
Trust, As I recall it was the liberals who declared it to be unconstitutinal to hold a mental patient against their will in a mental hospital. Please read the entire article and then try and make the same claim it was the republicans. Idiot.
http://www.nytimes.com/1984/10/30/science/how-release-of-mental-patients-began.html?pagewanted=all
BTW, the NYT isn't exactly a right wing rag.
dave: please don't try to force this into a race thing.
Arizona, of course it is racial hatred (ethnic). The blacks have racial hatred to Asian and Koreans, it is a fact!!! (not really). However, if it was white crazy that pushed a black it would be FEAR of Blacks and RACISM, just ask any MSNBC contributor. They can find racism in ANYthing
Tumbleweed,
I don't have to Tumbleweed. It is already out there if you bother to check some of the other news sites. The black dude used some racial language that you are not going to see on MSNBC or the nytimes video because they like to censor things and sterilize it before releasing it. That is why they only show you a quick little 5 second clip. Search around and you will see what I am talking about. The perp wasn't actually promoting racial equality in his comments. I won't go into details about what he said as tyler will ban me for doing so, but it is out there for you to see the whole video and it aint harmonious.
Trust2112 - keep your typical ignorant comments to yourself rather the insult many of us that are perfectly clear what party started the deinstitutionalization of the mentally ill - read JIMMY CARTER in the late around 1979-1980 and Bill Clinton making it worse. It is the democratic party that champions thugs that should be executed without delay, champions criminals that are people of color yet scream racist every time a non-person of color kills a black or Latino, and it is the democratic party and their proxies like the ACLU that has passed most legislation protecting criminals, nut cases, and thugs. I hope this assho_e tries to push someone else and gets his frigging head blown off in the process. Arizona Tumbleweed - please try not to stifle the FACTS that Dave is putting forth, and it IS a race thing when a person of one race kills a person of another if you can fathom the difference between cross-racial crime and racism. Next Where is Bloomberg on the incident - oh, I know, blaming George Bush.
I used to ride the Metra in Chicago for 8 years, I have seen some crazy things. Fights, drunks, sickenss, loudmouths, smelly folks, etc... But there was one distinct memory which was of a boy who commited suicide by jumping in front of a train in Tinley Park. I think that he was any older then 15ish. Our conducted had asked us not to look outside the left of the train, mainly for little ones and young people that might get squeamish. Thankfully, the boy was covered with a big white blanket. But even so, that image with be burned into my memory forever. Sad! Anyways, when using any mass publicly used thing such as transit or even the bathroom at a playground, please be respectful of the fact that you are not only one there or using it. Keep to yourself and mind your own damn business. That is all.
I also think it's pathetic that the media cannot even verify the victims name or double check with the police. After studying Koean Language, living in Korea, and doing extensive research of Korean culture and linguistics, I can tell you that there is not Korean in the world named Ki SUCK Han - it's Ki Suk Han. What a bunch of friggin idiots.
poor Han...i home they find who pushed him...and he gets mess up in the process...
Blake - whats your point? Are you implying that the victim did NOT mind his own business? If you're saying that when people use public facilities they should act like rabbits or grovel in fear whenever some degenerate shows up, you can push that concept where the grass doesn't grow. I bother nobody when I'm in public, I obey the laws of the land and do not look for trouble or confrontations - but I do not run from those I cannot avoid. If ANYONE attempted to harm me or my family ANYWHERE, or attempted to kill or rape anyone in MY presence, regardless of race, they would never do it again. You cannot deal with crime, intimidation, or the instilling of fear by hiding like a rabbit and hoping it will go away. You, and the society you live in MUST deal with it.
Maybe some of you Midwest writers don't believe in racial views but I live in the Capitol of racial injustice, TX, (deep E. Texas). I walked into 4 gun shops looking for different ammo and in all 4 there were hate pics of Obama with racial slurs written all over them. Some computer enhanced images showed him hanging, most used the word N-I-G-G-E-R in the labeling.
gm Creek Dog.
Or dangerous to be standing on a train platform talking to a guy who is mumbling to himself.
Me thinks their will be a lot more of that type gun shops after a few more years of obama's 3score&4
Ahhh, name calling. The mark of a well reasoned and persuasive argument. Of course this is political problem, and your comment is every bit as intelligent as this: "Everybody knows that mental illness would cease to be a problem if only those pesky Republicans would cough up the dough."
We wounder why they occupy the majority of the prisons
well now that is tragic....and there are crazy people in this world but I guess that we need to ban subway trains because you can use them to kill people just like guns and knives and rocks and rope ...we need to ban everything that can be used to kill some one and while we are at it ban Bob Costas
Hey, NBCNews.com incompetent writers!!! After what? Don't you even have the good sense to complete your sentences? Look up the definitions for editing and proofreading, then go back to school and learn how to write.
UM,
Just under that it says "read more". Click on that and there is the rest of it. It's their way of getting you to go to other areas of their network.
Dick Sicario,
WTF are you talking about? Related to this guy they're looking for are you!? Me thinks medication.
GM Bill....
That's almost as friendly as pushing people onto subway train tracks.
Seems from the clip that the supposed victim was harassing the supposed murderer. The clip shows the suspect telling the victim to move away and leave him alone. It seems funny that this part was filmed but not the ensuing fight that ended in the death of this man. the clip clearly shows the supposed victim standing in the other mans face as the man says "leave me the *&%$ alone and take you &%$# A$$ over there and wait for the train". I think there's more to this than what they're saying. They're making this out to be a cold blooded unprovoked killing but I can see a fight brewing and the supposed murderer is the one trying to defuse the confrontation. The police expect us to be meek when some whack job comes up to us and starts $()it. But when someone gives them @!$%# they just shoot them down.
Zuk,
So, that justifies the perp to kill the guy?
Getting into a verbal confrontation "Never" justifies a physical confrontation resulting in death no matter "what" words are spoken.
Have a nice day...
To bad the 58yrs old didn't have a gun, maybe he coulda fought him off. Course now we got to ban trains, being how they are the cause of death, and how trains kill people not people.
Tells ya allot about NYC...and the just another day attitude there.
Good grief people ....the guy was struggling to get back up on the platform before the train came yet not ONE person there would reach down and help.....sad........
Gm creekdog
Maybe he was standing his ground. Nobody knows what transpired between those too or why it escalated. Nobody knows if the victim didn't make threats to the suspect. Unlikely maybe, but from the clip shown, it would seem that the victim was told to go away. Doesn't justify what happened but like Zuk I think there's somewhat more to this than someone randomly shoving a victim off the platform.
Creek Dog -- I'm just keeping an open mind. I see a disconnect between what the police are implying and what I see in the clip. I haven't given this man a free pass but I haven't convicted him either. I would ask where is the rest of the clip ? Would they have me believe that someone filmed this part but not the physical part ? But I'm just talking to the wall because in court when a Black guy is accused of killing an Asian he will be convicted by stereotypical programing not evidence. I'm white but not ignorant to the ways of the world.
@Creek Dog.....I just KNEW there would someone dumb enough to come up with this 'where are the safety railings' crap....heck..lets build fences between all the lanes on all the roads so there won't be any more head-on crashes...lets put huge parachutes on ALL airplanes so there won't be any more plane crashes....(feel free to chime in....)
This wasnt racial at all. The nut didnt go after this guy simply because he was Asian. That would have to be the case for it to be a "racial hate crime".
Figure out what a hate crime is before posting your drivel..
Though he was labled a "subway killer" in this news clip, it didn't seem he went out of his way to look for a victim. It seems the victim came to him and wouldn't leave. I'm not excusing the incident, just pointing out that there are details yet to be released.
Creekdog is right in his post. When you go to theme parks there are those small hand rails between you and the ride or train. It would be a simple addition to add those to subways. This is far from the first pushing incident. My guess is they will soon install these rails.
I was in Paris recently and I noticed that on all their major subways stops, there's a glass wall with sliding doors that separate the commuters from the tracks. They don't exist at every station, but you have to travel pretty far out of the city center to find stops without them. I wonder how much it would cost to have them installed, but of course the union thugs known as the TWU would never allow funds to go towards capital improvement projects when they can pad their own salaries and benefits instead. In the last 5 years we've had a 40% increase in fare prices without any sort of possitive impact to service.
GM Scooter & TFNJ.
2little,
Someone dumbenough here. How you doin'?!
Unfortunately, it's people with your kind of thinking that sits back and enjoys the life that everyone else made safe while not 'being able to" contribute to a better & safer world. BTW, you subconsciously spit out a few good idea's. Thanks. I'll let you know my profits.
Have a nice day... No........"really" ;-)
Voter/Zuk,
Of course we all have our opinions and I respect both of yours but, if you came up to me, got in my face verbally, never ever laying a hand on me, calling me every name in the book, do you think I'd be justified by having enough of your crap, pushing you in front of a train and killing you for words?! I can see if I raised my hands as to smack you around a bit and you're protecting yourself but....
Not to mention, he timed his push to coincide with the arrival of the train. Why didn't he just push him off way before the train was coming? It's quite a drop and he could have been somewhat seriously injured. Looks like he thought this one out a little.
Remember the sticks and stones theory your parents taught you unless you live in FL.
Take care...
Hey!! TFNJ!!
Where'd your awesome Avatar go?! What am I seeing now?! Fried food? Oh no, it can't be what it may be.... Too bright. Thanks for the backup above man... Greatly appreciated.
I wonder if Bob Costas will talk about this next Sunday?
Creek, got tired of the horror face. Decided to go with sweet, crunchy, Pork Rinds.
TFNJ
WECOME BACK PAL. missed ya.drop me a mail and let me know what happened. i gotta go hope all is well with you and yours. my B day and im getting gone as we speak.
later guys.
Happy B-day Tramp .... and many more of the same. Mine's tomorrow.
Wow all these b-days. Enjoy guys.
I will Scooter
Creek dog
Allow me to play devils advocate here.
Sticks and stones may break my bones... and if it were to kill me that would be the end of that.
Libel and slander may destroy my life and reputation.... damage that can persist beyond the grave.
Words are capable of doing plenty of damage. Ever hear "the pen is mightier than the sword."
Anyways on to what is relevant.
You asked why he didn't just push him away in the first place? Maybe because he would rather tell the guy to "leave him the F8k alone" than immediately resort to violence. The "subway killer" has his back to the wall and the victim is in his face between him and the tracks. Why do I get the feeling this could have easily been avoided by the victim? When you get in someones face like that you are escalating the conflict and you should expect a further escalation of conflict to be coming.
"Do not seek trouble, for you will surely find it."
It is a tragedy that this happened and there is another family without a father.
Why would you say he timed the push? Actually, it could have been a reflex action as he was upset that the guy wouldn't leave him alone like he told him to do. No excuses for the killer, but just saying...
Happy B-day to all you guys & enjoy...
Funny thing is, there's 7 billion people on the face of the earth and only 365 days in a year and you have a lot of people who are elated that their B-days are the same day are very close.
Do the math and see how many B-days there are each and every day! LOL. Millions my friend.
Take care man....
Oddly enough I am upset with the murderer who pushed the guy in front of the train. I personally think your priorities are screwed up if you can come on a News site and complain about the News.
Get a life.
Pull your head out of your @$$.
See TFNJ I wasn't the only one wondering where the hell you disappeared to. I just had to track you down lol. The vine isn't the same without you on here. Next time you just let me know where the idiots are posting oh pork rinds are disgusting. end of story.
As far as the story goes, I agree with Creek Dog that there should be some safety precautions involved. This isn't the first time someones been pushed or jumped onto the tracks.
I felt the love :)
I realise pork rinds aren't for everyone. For me they are crunchy goodness. But I can understand why many wouldn't like them. Peace love and pork rind.
I grew up living between the Bronx, Manhattan, and Jersey City, and riding subways since an early age. Yes the edge of that track can be dangerous, and you have to look out for nut cases. There is nothing there to keep you from falling or otherwise. Europe has safety doors, but we don't. As a kid I always stood by the edge because I wanted to see the train coming. Looking back, I would be terrified to let my kids stand close to the edge.
Lol you are correct pork rinds are not for everyone especially not for me. Now you give me some nacho cheese doritos and we are talking!!
90% of the things I did as a kid, I cringe watching my boys do. Just the other day my 6 year old decided he wanted to see how fast his bike could go down our grass covered hill. As soon as I saw him I ran outside to try to save him lol but he was fine and did awesome. Then later in the day they were doing flips from one side of the couch in their playroom to the other. Only he miss calculated something and landed on his nose which I swore was broken but is fine. We are protective of our kids. I've never been on a subway been down in one just this past summer when I took a vacation to NYC but never had the balls to get on one. They scare me but one day I will conquer my fear and hop on lol
Hmm, got me thinking of some nachos supreme..
Its been a long time since I got on a subway. Moved to central NJ and no subways here. They are actually safer now then when I was younger.
This case is just an argument between two people, and not a crazy guy randomly pushing people.
No matter what the argument was about, there is absolutely no reason for the man to have been pushed to his death. It is a horrible way to die. Not saying there is a good way to die but this has to be one of the worst.
Arizona Tumbleweed, why not? If it were a white man that pushed a black man you would never hear the end of it. However, the perpetrator is black so nobody wants to discuss it.
Yet, no "WHITE people" had anything to do with this story did they. You racist are a trip indeed.
Whats the matter Jeff? Can't handle the truth? I posted a link by the NYTimes on the subject showing exactly who was responsible for releasing all the mental patients and you still refuse to accept responsibility for your political party of choice. I mean the dems needed all the votes they could get and if it came from deranged mental patients then so be it because if there is one thing we have all learned from the democrats it is "The ends justify the means".
A little clip and posters seem to know the whole scenario. Amazing!
Kinda scary that the cops were dressed in suits and he was taking into an ordinary auto...? Even though he's a low-life idiot.
Quite obviously his lawyer is going to plead accidental death and this guy is probably going to get away with it.
When I was a boy we lived in NYC but when I grew up I moved away -- FAR AWAY -- and this sort of thing is why. There are too many 'troubled' people walking the streets there.
On the racial hatred note. Have you seen the picture of Zimmerman that has, finally, been released?
Yeah, its looking a lot like Self Defense if you ask me.
Another thing that is, really, not very curious is, have you noticed that there has not been any newsvine input associated with the release of the zimmerman picture?
Only in New York would you find people muttering about gun control and stand right next to subway tracks where it only takes a shove to kill you.
Ironic, isn't it Scooter. Literally days after the subways are cleaned up from Sandy, blood is spilled again. Needlessly.
There are a few unhinged people around here, but NYC still is the greatest city in the world.
Enjoy your B'day. I will raise a glass in your honour, sir.
TFNJ.......................Pork rinds rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"One death is a tragedy. A million is a statistic." -- Josef Stalin
Is anyone else disturbed by the fact that nobody tried to help this guy up? Someone had time to video tape the incident but nobody could reach down and lend a hand?
Lol Dartatak. Some people don't understand the crunchy goodness.
What a tragic situation. It sounds like the man who pushed the victim, may have anger issues going on. I hope authorities can find him, so he can be held accountable for what he has done.It was a good thing the bystander was able to catch some of the situation on video to help find the suspect.
I hope the family of the man who died, will get the comfort, love and support they need in this matter to move forward as well. I agree, the cameras from the media were ridiculous.
To call it a "tragic situation" implies that this is something that just happened, like a hurricane. False! A no-good black man murdered a member of another race! A very common type of crime! "Anger issues," indeed; it's race issues! It's yet more of blacks taking out racial hatred on other races. As for the person who said, Where's the rest of the video? Maybe the person with the cam couldn't bear to capture the end of this horror. Maybe the end is too horrible to be released to the public. You think there's something on the tape that would exonerate the murderer, right? So it's a police conspiracy, right? Racist idiot! You would have been an ideal O.J. juror.
I agree. It's anger issues, mental health issues at work here. From what I've observed in my 20 years in Philadelphia City, there is quite a lot of fear and anger in the African American community there, if not also elsewhere. I think a lot of us are familiar with the 'easily-angered, easily-offended African American male' stereotype. In my opinion, these people aren't taught to be communicative enough and hold a lot of unresolved issues inside of them, which manifest in terms of a sudden burst of violence and anger, at the worst moments. And what's worse, they often believe that all the source of their problems are external (i.e. 'racism') and not within themselves [also]. There's not enough honest talk about our personal problems and too much silence regarding so-called controversial social issues. And the current fashionable political ideologies only distort reality even more. Silence kills. More communication is in order, I think.
It might have been a better thing if the bystander put down his camera and gave the man some help.
Can't have said it any better, prayers and love to victim's family and friends.
If I were this victim's family, I would only be comforted by the murderer's head on a pike.
Ya I can agree with that.
Yes! it appears that the suspect has anger issues, because the other man is dead. However, if you watch the video, it also appears that the man that was killed had anger issues as well, because he is standing directly in the suspects face with his back to the train. I have learned long time ago never to further agitate an angry person, and to remove yourself from a the volitale situation the only people that further agitate anger is someone who is also mean and angry.
I didn't hear anything from the victim. How can yo possibly blame the man who died for an angry, and younger man, pushing him violently to his death?
This story is so incomplete but I also thought the victim was standing in an aggressive posture. I can hear people scream already but especially in a big city like this you just don't stand in someones space in that manner especially when they're telling you to move along. Another thing I found interesting was the pusher referred to the train as "Our train" was this just the way he spoke or were they people who knew each other and were traveling together hence "our train" or just a figure of speech. And what was the push like, a small shove maybe and the victim losing balance or a full fledged shove under a train. With this standard of reporting we may never know.
he was referring to the "R" train. In NYC the trains are named by letters
by4law - and never, never, never stand with your back to the train when close to the edge of the platform and carrying an argument (heated or otherwise).
if you click on the video ...you can see the guy who pushed him ...was a much larger person...hope they get him off the street...
Just a little correction, Bob. In NYC, the trains are by letters and numbers. One is the IND system (part) and one is the IRT system (part).
One problem, since Sandy, is that many of the subways, both IRT and IND, are not yet fully operational. The R train was the worst to restore full service to. So, the crowding on trains and platforms has been dangerously overcrowded. Even before, as Manhattan became a "go-to" place to live, expensive as hell or not, the very old subways were still crowded.
Tips from a NYer: My commuting friends and I learned to stay with our backs to the metal poles and not rush the train. I d/k what we would do now (in the suburbs-still expensive as heck) but if you stand back you might not get in the train these days. Plus, if you have the judgment, and trains ARE hard to judge-not blaming the vic, you can scoot under the overhang, and many folks have done so. Some have even stayed in the space between rails as the train went over them but I can't see myself doing that.
The big problem in this case is that people are for the most part cowards and have failed once again to take immediate and decisive action. Instead, people are all mesmerized like they are at home all watching tv like idiots instead of doing something constructive in their lives.
That's exactly what I was thinking! Instead of taking video and others running from the platform, how about helping to pull the guy out? Or tackle the other guy until police get there?
I have an idea. Make the tracks inaccessible where boarding occurs. The only access you have is to the doors of the tram. Then make sure the doors are clear before closing and departing.
People want lower taxes, not safety.
I was in Singapore in 1995. Teir train platforms had plexiglass walls (platform to ceiling) with doors that only opened when the train was stopped to load passengers. No one had access to the tracks when the train was not there. There was no open track hazzard at all. So the technology exists for a safer platforms, but Sam is correct, NYers don't want to spend the money.
Has anyone used the train connecting concourses at the Atlanta airport? There is no way one could get into the trains path.
Rweber--I was thinking the same thing. Open platforms are a huge public safety hazard.
Even Disney has the whole train platform figured out for safety. How sad to be outsmarted by an oversized mouse...
This is Half a story....Why was the victim in the mans face....Clearly the guy told him to just Leave him alone..I am guessing more than once...This is shoddy reporting at best...There were eye witnesses, Someone must have heard the argument....How long did this go on? How many times did the guy ask the victim to leave him alone? WHY was the guy in his face? More questions than answers and of course with the Media's spin the public is already set to Hang the guy who simply wanted to be left alone...
Just wanting to be left alone is not sufficient reason to kill. Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law comes to mind as a rather feeble excuse for killing someone.
To Pig, crazy people do not need sufficient reasons to kill. That is why you do not stand up in their faces when they tell you to leave them alone with a speeding train behind you!!!
That's true, lovey. That's why bush dreamed up the WMD excuse. He was protecting his image as a sane person, and did not want folks to think that he is crazy!
His good daddy probably advised him to do that.
This absolutely clueless statement verifies the corruption of the truth today's media perpetrates upon the sheeple. This line of BS is repeated daily, and it's a big, fat, verifiable LIE!
The intelligence community all knew Saddam had WMD's like chemical weapons, he even used them on the Kurds. The Democrats, including Clinton spoke about the threat Saddam posed with his WMD's. The Democrats also voted to authorize the use of force in Iraq. People can't seem to remember this little fact.
Saddam moved his chemical weapons to Syria before the U.S. invasion, which occurred because Saddam defied the terms of HR 1441 and other parts of the cease-fire agreement.
Today, there's even a srory about how the U.S. warned Syria not to use chemical WMD's, but the story fails to mention HOW Syria got these weapons at all. Some of these are most likely from Iraq!
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2012/07/14/And-where-did-syrias-chemical-weapons
Wake up people!!
we need more zimmermans. 'nuf said. what's with seeing this incident through nig lenses?
usedupbrain, your brain is indeed used up, as is your common sense. You and Proud 2B Liberal, have something wrong with you. What the hell does this story have to do with Bush, WMDs or Iraq?
Sigh...another Evil racist. Nothing more to see here.
Do these platforms have the same railings to prevent people from falling in like they do at theme parks?
Why the hell don't they just install fencing or railing at the edge of those damned platforms? Or something like the metal rollup doors they have in warehouses? Only when a train is actually STOPPED in the station, would the gates/fencing lower or open.....or the doors would roll up. It's NOT rocket science.
13 deleted, Joe Scatone continuing a history of death-trolling. Stop.
You're suspended for a week for violating #5 of the Code of Honor.
Why is it that every bystander video we see on the news seems like the person was filming with a potato? I guess the ones who sit around just watching stuff happen, are not prone to actually getting a job to be able to afford a phone with a decent camera.
With video from my phone, you could have zoomed in and probably determined who he was through mitochondrial DNA...
You might want to apply for a job as a subway videographer.
lol
Yeah, but if the spuds had a job, they'd miss the action anyway.
I totally agree with Al Roker and think that it was very unprofessional for Savannah Guthrie to scold him about it!
Why hasn't Bob Costas weighed in on this? After all if they would ban PUSHING this man would be alive today.
For all you 2nd Amendment destroyers out there; it is obvious from this tragedy, TRAINS should be banned in America. Trains don't kill people, people kill people.
rockhead, you're too stupid to own a gun.
Why don't they put up some sort of guard rail at these stations?
Are you kidding, that makes sense. democrats would never alow it.
And dicky...the democrats have always ruled NYC and wouldn't never allow the republicans to put up fences. I believe that democrats should stay on the east side of the USA, and republicans should stay on the west side of the USA, and have huge fences between them. Create jobs for border patrol out sourcing companies.
The one thing I can't understand is why there were witnesses and bystanders and yet none of them did anything to help this man. I'm fully aware of the extreme dangers surrounding the NYC subway, and I'm not even a city resident! If the man was trying to climb back up, was there no one who could have at least attempted to help him? It's really such a shame.
I was in the city during the Halloween celebrations one year and, as anyone in the city knows, during that time the subways were packed. I was afraid of being pushed onto the tracks even inadvertently. A woman dropped her cell phone on the tracks and actually jumped down to get it. Her boyfriend was there to try and help her back up, although he seemed to be struggling, but when I saw lights at the end of the tunnel (albeit it was from a train coming in the opposite direction, not actually on the track I was standing at) I just reacted. I reached forward and grabbed her other arm and yanked her up onto the platform. She got quite the reprimand from another passerby but I can understand that woman's concern.
That is such horse crap! When the money runs out the mental patients are taken to the city and let loose. There is no one to track them and make sure they take their meds. Does anyone really know how many homeless people there are in N.Y. No, because they all can not be tracked.
I understand people hesitation to get involved. But all those people there and he got away.
This is what's 'underground'.....
another black on black crime...nothing will happen...where are jesse and al now??
Black on black crime? Jesse and Al?? You either did not read the story, under a chemical influence, or just plain ignorant!
sounds like it be both...
I go for all THREE, LoveAngel. People are definitely showing how much racism still lives.
I suspect that the man who died was not black. He had a definitely Korean name...
This was a racist hate crime. If a white man had pushed a black man every Democrat in the country would be screaming racism and demanding more welfare. Where is that bigot Al Sharpton now?
Yes, pfmpm. Democrats should demand more welfare for the white trailer trash that predominantly use it.
They vote Democrat, so they'll overlook the racism in this murder and vote for another socialist.
Where do you get it is a hate crime. You obviously have not been educated. You have no ideal what a hate crime is. These guys had a feud about something. Granted it does not justify nothing close to what he did. But instead of people trying wasting time trying to make this a hate crime or a racial crime. Some even calling it black on black crime. Spens time today and see if you recognize the black m@!$%#er.
I don't think this is a racist hate crime. I'm ridiculing all the idiot Democrats who cry racism every time there is a fight between a white guy and a black guy. Like the stupid black professor who was breaking into his own house, then started screaming racism when the police were called. Like Trayvon Martin who sucker punched a community watch guy and got himself shot, then the racist media lynched Zimmerman. Like the black prostitute who had sex with multiple John's, then accused a group of innocent rugby players of raping her. Al Sharpton and the racist news media were all over that. The media exploits racism every time they can blame the crime on a white man. I'm just showing them how obvious they are.
If you don't believe it's a racist hate crime, why do you say it is and then throw Democrats, Martin and Sharpton in to the mix as well? Since you seem to have a fear of black people and Democrats, just say so or go back to stormfront and belch hate over there. You're nothing but a typical lame keyboard tuffguy LOL.
pfmpm,
You know what I have noticed? It's interesting how people who are clearly racist, such as yourself, sound very ignorant also. Your whole post, specifically the information about Zimmerman/Martin, lets me know that you are one of those scared, racist individuals who spew crap out of your mouth. You do not speak from an intelligent place but from a HATEFUL place.
The facts: Trayvon Martin - a child. George Zimmerman - a grown man who still lived with his parents and obviously didn't know how to listen to police when they told Zimmerman to stay in his car.
Despite all the police tests Zimmerman has taken (AND FAILED), he was not a cop the night he killed a child. I wasn't there that night so I can't say if Martin was right or wrong. I can't say if Zimmerman (who I went to school with) was right or wrong. I can only say that if Zimmerman stayed in the car like the police told him to then Martin would not have been able to beat Zimmerman up and Martin will still be alive. Martin would be getting ready to graduate from high school and start his future. Now a CHILD is gone and we just have one side of the story of the grown man who made silly choices. Why did Zimmerman have a gun just to be patrolling the neighborhood? He is NOT A COP. Zimmerman is NOT trained to PROTECT AND SERVE. Now Zimmerman is crying self-defense when HE GOT OUT OF THE CAR THAT THE COPS TOLD HIM TO STAY IN. If I felt like my life was SO in danger that I needed a gun, I wouldn't get OUT of my car and chase AFTER the danger. I don't know how any of what Zimmerman did makes sense. His job ended when he called the cops a hundred times!
I actually watch the news and listen to ALL sides of the story. Do you?
Jaevis, actually I'm a black woman married to a white man. And I'm sick of you racist liberal blaming "his kind" for everything.
Pm, you call everybody else racist. Look at your comments? Who's the racist here? calm down. No white people were hurt in this incident. Matter of fact. Story doesn't mention any white people. Move on.
Javismom: Trayvon was NOT a "kid". He was a budding thug wannabee. The media just kept showing his 5 year old photos.
I hope they catch the Motherf..ker and push him in front a train. United States need laws that punish like they have in Iran, Afganistan, and Iraq. This is a b:tch ass country that is why so many fag>ots are here.
That's it smitty....we should copy Muslims. LOL
I hope they catch him. Mentally ill, drunk, drugged up, bad day, bad life, don't care...Hope they catch him and put him behind bars for the rest of his life...
The hell with putting him behind bars for the rest of his life costing taxpayers between 1.25 and 1.5 million dollars. Kill his ass.
Yep hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep him alive, or a .49 cent bullet.
Sounds like good economics to me.
I'm really suprised this doesn't happen more often. The dumbing down of
America continues. Eventually they will gate subway boarding/exit. sons
Of Obama will assure it in the years to come.
We are headed toward a lawless society, political correctness on the loose.
Must be pretty easy if an ignoramus such as yourself can do it! And, at such an advanced 2nd grade reading level! Good for you!
I was always terrified of this happening when I lived in Montreal so I kept my back to the wall and my eyes on my book as much as possible. As many have said before, safety rails could have helped here and imo they should be mandatory safety equipment on all subway platforms. The fact that a city like New York doesn't have them is downright shameful. Get Wall Street to pay for them with their bonuses.
Excellent idea about the safety rails, Rusty Beaver. Let's see if New York will now think about this themselves. You think they would have considered this back in 1999 when Kendra Webdale was killed this way.
I don't understand the hate crime theory. Everybody seems to love the dead guy now.
I cannot imagine why a mental case would be allowed to run loose in the USA without being heavily medicated. Especially since the pharmaceutical companies want money...lots and lots of money.
If you go out and about, don't talk to strangers, and especially don't argue with them.
It is a darn shame about Ki-Suck Han. My sympathies to his family.
I AGREE with all of the normal people, and I think they should string up and out all mental cases. Mental cases should have a very short leash and no right to run around loose with any sort of civil liberties. After all, this is the USA so I believe the majority rules.
The man was obviously a tourist. All New Yorkers know to leave the man who's mumbling to himself alone. Sh*t what did that guy expect, you never get into an argument with a homeless person cause they don't care
That's probably true that New Yorkers know it all.
