A Delaware man was in custody on Monday after stabbing his elderly parents, police said.
The incident occurred Sunday at around 9 a.m. at a home in Greenwood, Del. where the suspect and his parents live, police said.
Ricky Brewington, 51, allegedly used a butcher knife to stab his 80-year-old mother and 82-year-old father in the kitchen of their home. Investigators said the victims then drove to a local fire department for medical care, while Brewington called 911 to report the incident.
A police officer arrived at the home and took Brewington into custody without incident. His parents were taken from the fire station to Nanticoke Hospital where they were both in stable condition.
Brewington was charged with attempted murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $150,000 cash bail.

This man apparently has some serious issues going on. I can't imagine the awful trauma his parents must have gone through being attacked by their own son. One can only hope this son receives the help and gets put away for a long time. I also hope the parents recover quickly from their injuries. It always boggles my mind when family members attack or murder each other. Especially parent and child
"One can only hope this son receives the help..."
Well...one can also hope that this man's soul will fry in hell for what he has done. Unfortunately he has little to fear from our justice system. He will be taken care of for the rest of his life.
Takenaka,
I guess we have to ban butcher-knives now. Ugh, WTF man....
On another note, how's your colon looking today?
gm Creek Dog
He's surely off the list for Christmas presents.
It always amazes me how impulsive AND moronic people can get after reading media articles when they really don't know crap about the situation. "Fry in Hell....Put him away for a long time...Whack-job " ???? The fact of the matter is that the article provides nothing other than the tertiary result of a living situation that most assuredly has more to the story than just what was written. Was the son over-loading from being a parental care-giver that the stress of the situation finally made him snap? Were the parents medically healthy or both with dementia or worse?? Was the son an individual with mental health concerns that were exacerbated by his home situation? Did the son have a history of elderly abuse? Were the parents abusive??? Lots of unanswered questions, and although what he did IS inexcusable, there are probably more "whack-jobs" on this blog that lived in that home. NOW, the parents will most likely end up in a nursing home and see their son carted off to prison. There ARE worse things than death! Enough said.

JP, and in my opinion we (the huddled, ignorant masses who have absolutely NOTHING to do with this story and family) have all the information we need about this. The media should report the incident and then STFU. They don't need to "investigate" and then report ad nauseum all the sensationalistic details, and instigate the mob mentality in the mindless public, such as they have done in recent "high profile" cases like Trayvon Martin. ESPECIALLY now that the actor of the crime has been arrested. The media needs to butt out, let the courts take over and let the man have a fair trial. "Fair trial" may mean hanging him from the highest tree, but at least it would be fair. More than you can say for many people lately who have been tried and executed by public opinion tainted from biased, sensationalistic reporting by the news media.
The dude is 51 years old living at home with his parents. Issues? I think so.
Where are the gun-grabbers today ?? What ?? No calls for knife control ??
They're not that sharp.
In England, after the guns were taken, people began using kitchen knives to attack each other, they honestly considered banning sharp kitchen knives...don't know what came of it. Maybe only registered, state approved butchers should have knives, and all our foods should be prepared for us in advance...like MRE's.
If only this whackjob's parents had been packing heat, this wouldn't have happened.
Whackjob heads towards Mom with the butcher knife, Mom whips out her hand gun and saves the day spraying her kid's hair all over the wall.
Happiness is a warm gun.
NevadaJ - Yea, right, and the parents could have killed their son had they been armed . I own firearms, but I firmly believe that there are some that should NOT!! Based on your infantile rhetoric, you probably fall into the latter group. THAT means my second sentence!
I would like to hear 51 year old Ricky's reason for attacking his parents with deadly force.
Did Mommy and Daddy put you in time out locked in your bedroom?
when will this madness with edged weapons end??? its time we ban all knives and or sharp pointy objects like pencils, screw drivers, knitting needles, illegally modified paper clips, etc.
Living with your parents until they die of old age should be a crime too.....or at the very least a sign
Satan is really busy!!!
Even without a firearm people can and will find a way to injure or kill each other. The only effective ban that would stop violent crime would be a ban on humans. Even then the rest of the animal kingdom would be busy killing and eating each other. Why do some people fixate on the weapon and not put the blame where it belongs. On the person or persons who choose to use violence to get what they want.
