Edward Orenchuk III, 23, was arrested Wednesday on accusations of possessing child pornography on his computer.
A New York Boy Scouts leader was arrested Wednesday after authorities found hundreds of images of pornography on his computer involving children as young as five years old, officials said.
Edward Orenchuk III, of Garden City, N.Y., was charged with three counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child as a sexually motivated felony and three counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child, according to the Nassau County District Attorney's Office.
Investigators observed Orenchuk making multiple images of child pornography available for download online during August and September, and they tracked the source of those images to his home, said Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice.
Orenchuk himself indicated that he had hundreds of images of child pornography on his computer while his home was being searched, the district attorney's office said.
Orenchuk was an Eagle Scout who served as an assistant scout master with Troop 243 in Garden City. He was employed as a page at the Garden City Public Library.
The Boy Scouts said Orenchuk was dropped from the organization once they learned of the charges, the Associated Press reported, and a library spokeswoman said Orenchuk has been taken off the library's work schedule..
In mid-October, lawyers published more than 1,200 formerly secret Boy Scouts’ files online detailing accusations of child sex abuse within the organization from 1965 to 1985.
The documents, known as the “ineligible volunteer” files within the organization, were ordered released by the Oregon Supreme Court. Media organizations had sued for the release of the files, part of a 2010 case in which a Portland, Ore., jury decided that the Boy Scouts were negligent in allowing a former assistant Scoutmaster to associate with the organization’s youth after he admitted to molesting 17 boys.
The files, which can be accessed on www.kellyclarkattorney.com, represent reports of Scouts allegedly abused by more than 1,200 different Scoutmasters and other adult volunteers across the country.
Orenchuk faces up to seven years in prison if convicted. It wasn't immediately clear if Orenchuk, who is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, had a lawyer.

I rarely agree with you, Musician, but in this case I do. The best idea would be execution immediately, but an asylum is a fine alternative. The mental health professionals (psychos) can be locked in there too.

People need to stop blaming the Boy Scouts of America for the gay and pedophiles. It is possible they do slip into the program. As a scout leader for the past 7 years and being the charter organization rep for our troop, we have a background check done for each adult application. As a registered leader with the BSA, I have to do a youth protection training every 2 years. If we have a problem with another adult, it is taken care of promptly. In our troop we follow very strict rules about not being in a situation where it is one boy and one adult tieh the exception of your own child. The troop did the right thing when they found out and to get rid of him from the organization.
But God forbid you let gays join the Scouts!

Why does the commercial and social media feel the need to condemn a whole group of people because of the actions of a few who make up less than a fraction of one percent of the people in those groups? I don't ever see the media condemn the whole Democratic party every time one of its members is caught doing some immoral or illegal. I don't ever see the media condemn all gay people whenever one gay person is guilty of a crime. You don't have to associate with or join groups you don't agree with. A Boy Scout leader is apprenhended so the whole organization is corrupt and we should remove our children. So when a school teacher is arrested that means we need to take all our children out of school. Pedophiles as a rule are very adept at blending in and seeming trustworthy it's the way they work. It's always interesting how an incident like this wiil inspire such angry comments for people when the only thing that really matters is another one of these predators has been caught.

Not to say that there hasn't been a rotten egg here and there but as member of the Catholic church I must say that we most likely have the safest church. We actually have to take virtus training (how to spot a predator) in order to participate in any event where children are involved. Not only that but we are not allowed to be allone with a child that is not our own. As far as Catholics and gays... Well... It is what it is but gays don't bother me so I hold my own beliefs that they are humans just like me. So, hold all ignorant blanket statement as they only make you look as stupid as you are acting.

Do you not know that our Father in Heaven views all sins the same? We don't as people because we like to look at others and their sins instead of what is in our lives. And no sin is to big for God to handle! Even this guys! As long as this person searches out and finds Jesus, and excepts that Jesus Christ is Lord, and sacrifices the sin in his life to Christ and follows Him, then this person will be saved by grace! Just like we all have the chance of... I will not say who I am, or what I do, I will not explain myself. All I will say is, is that I am saved by my Lord, and I am a Follower of my Lord Jesus Christ. I will be praying for all of your hearts on this situation, and I will be praying for this individual as well. It is a bad world my friends, but we must let the power of the Holy Spirit shine through this darkness so ohers can be saved by the grace of the One True God!

Let set the record straight, any male pedophile that molested a boy by definition is an homosexual , the same would apply for a female pedophile molesting a girl. Sounds like the Boy Scout Organization needed a whistle blower, because 1,200 accusations weren't made public until lawyers got involved. So shame on the organization for not making this an important issue to their child members.

This article makes no mention of whether the Victim(s) was/were male or female. This person may be a HOMOSEXUAL or HETEROSEXUAL.... we do not know! Either way he has CHILD pornography on a computer that originated from his home. HE IS A CRIMINAL, PEDOPHILE, or a PEDERAST!
