Cop accused of spending nights at mistress's home while on duty

A former Nassau County, N.Y., cop who is accused of spending more than 50 nights in his mistress's bed when he was supposed to be on patrol was arrested Friday, the New York Post reported.

According to the newspaper, the charges against Michael Tedesco, 43, include 80 counts of official misconduct, 25 counts of falsifying business records, and four counts of tampering with business records.

“Ultimately, not every lapse in judgment amounts to a crime,” Tedesco's lawyer, Aida Leisenring, told the Post.

Tedesco, who is married with two children and an 18-year police veteran, retired from the force this past spring after his trysts became public. He is collecting a full state pension, the Post reported.

According to the New York Daily News, a police internal affairs investigation found that Tedesco visited the Massapequa home of his mistress, Tara Obenauer, at least 57 times while he was supposed to be on duty.

Obenauer, a 42-year-old divorcee, told the Post earlier this year that Tedesco would park his police car outside her home and spend nights there having sex, watching TV or sleeping. His gun belt would sometimes be left within the reach of Obenauer's kids, the Post reported.

The affair, which according to the Post report began in the summer of 2011, became public when one of Obenauer's neighbors complained to police about Tedesco's frequent visits.

Obenauer has filed a legal notice saying she plans to sue Nassau County for $10 million over its failure to supervise Tedesco while on duty, the Post reported. She claimed she lives in fear of retaliation and has suffered “severe emotional and psychological damages,” according to the Daily News.

It kinda pisses me off that he is retired with FULL pension and us lucky tax payers got to pay for him to sleep around on his wife while he was supposed to be doing his job, that we paid for. Now he gets his full pension, which we also pay for. Typical...

GA CD and Jack,

I can say this broad is about as brazen as the McDonald's chick that sued for putting something hot between her legs and getting burned by it. I would say let her file, then put her in the slam for prostitution, contributing to the delinquency of a child, extortion, etc. Worst part is that if she gets the right jury, she will win.

A cop is f**king off? If there is a story here, it's that a cop is being prosecuted for it. Now that is news.

Mr. Tedesco was having fun on his job, the rest of you are just jealous of him.

Most of you just work on your dead-end job, without much fun, but can't stand someone who did enjoy his job and have fun. Do all of you have to be such a pig, the jealous type?

Now THAT is one hell of a possibility. Keep it quiet, stay away from each other for a bit, then take the money and run.

If it isn't their plan, then it should have been.

Have a fantastic weekend

we all parents should just take action and prevent from this to happen else where, we should contact our schools, school districts, governors, even our president and have them install metal detectors at every school, let's be really honest and security systems are not great, anyone can just walk into any school, all you do you just sign in in a piece of paper, let's all take action before this happens again!!:(

Tracy - I can say this broad is about as brazen as the McDonald's chick that sued for putting something hot between her legs and getting burned by it.

FYI, the McDonald's case was legitimate, and if you saw the pictures of this "chick" (Mrs. Liebeck was 79 years old), you would agree that she was right to file her lawsuit. I think you should apologize for your insensitive comment. Here are the facts:

Stella Liebeck, 79 years old, was sitting in the passenger seat of her grandson’s car having purchased a cup of McDonald’s coffee. After the car stopped, she tried to hold the cup securely between her knees while removing the lid. However, the cup tipped over, pouring scalding hot coffee onto her lap. She received third-degree burns over 16 percent of her body, necessitating hospitalization for eight days, whirlpool treatment for debridement of her wounds, skin grafting, scarring, and disability for more than two years.

and this was McDonalds fault how? by giving her the hot coffee she ordered. Her mistake by putting the cup in an unstable position to try to remove the lid. Good thing stupid isn't illegal.

kgarcia: And this was McDonald's fault how?

Here's how, although you could look up the case yourself if you weren't so lazy. The jury found that McDonald's policy of keeping their coffee at 185-degrees was excessive. They have since revised that policy.

With luck, you will be 79 years old some day, and people won't call you stupid, although they would most likely be correct. Some people's mental capacity does not improve with age.

Why didn't she put it in a cup holder? She put it between her legs, and i guarantee you, she squeezed her thighs together to hold it firm popping the lid off and when it started to burn, she freaked out and tried to grab it inadvertently making the situation worse however,

I do agree that 185 degrees was excessive. As we all have opinions, this is my analogy.

        #1.20 - Sat Dec 15, 2012 1:14 PM EST

Mozzie, the fact that you believe that someone can be only 20% responsible shows a complete lack of common sense. After she was handed her coffee by the employee the "responsibility" shifted 100% to her. Sorry to say that our so called "justice" system is a farce.

Go to the National Coffee Association website. Optimal temperature for brewing coffee- 195 to 205 degrees Fahrenheit, optimal temperature for storing brewed coffee- 180 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. It looks like McDonald's was just trying to give their customers the highest quality coffee product they could. What the customer does with it after they purchase and take possession of it is not really McDonald's concern.

To be truthful, I doubt this isn't all that uncommon. Cops are known to have "groupies" who go for that stuff. I knew a girl who used to have a regular "visit" in the afternoons from a cop. I never knew his marital status, but you would see his car parked at her place in the afternoons for a quickie. This was ten years ago and no longer happening btw.
