Depressed over the death of his grandmother and upset over being kicked out of his family’s Garden Grove home, Marcos Gurrola allegedly shot off 50 rounds from his pistol in the parking lot of a crowded Newport Beach, Calif., mall, police told NBC4.
Gurrola said he didn’t intend to shoot anyone and that he fires guns to relieve stress, according to police.
When he stopped firing, he put the safety back on the gun.
A man answering the door of the home refused to shed any light on the alleged gunman’s actions.
There were no injuries but there was panic as people ran from the bullets at the crowded mall on Saturday afternoon.
Gurrola was arrested next to his car, a white Honda Civic. He even warned police about a wire protruding from the car so they wouldn’t receive a shock, said Lt. Mike Peters, of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
“All I understand is he was stating there was ammunition in the car,” Peters said Monday. “There were areas in the car that he was mentioning that were reasons to be careful in entering the car.”

The sheriff’s department bomb squad took X-rays of the car and found more ammunition but no tripwires or explosives, officials said.
Shoppers at the upscale outdoor mall, Fashion Island, were questioning why anyone would take a chance with a gun and the emotions of a fragile community a day after the mass shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut.
Pretty much the craziest thing I’ve ever heard how anybody could do that to scare people with everything going on in the world,” said shopper David Lenz. “Who needs guys like that?”

Obviously a member of our well regulated militia.
We all are, pretty much

Wolverine!!!!!! Fighting the tyranny of government!!
First, what this guy did (to relieve stress) is a crime and should be treated a such. Even if his intent was not to hurt anyone, his actions say other wise. I'd call this inducing panic on the public at a minimum. He deserves jail time and should permanently lose his second amendment rights forever. No exceptions.
Second, this is a true sign of the times. It's hard on Americans out there from an economic standpoint. Take NOTICE Washington. It's past time for both parties to put their politics aside and work together. Republicans - this means, you have to be willing to CUT your corporate welfare and military welfare spending. Democrats - this means we have to cut social programs (for those who never paid into the system) as well. We also need to "PROVIDE" funding to help the mentally ill.
Lastly, Let's not judge all responsible adult gun holders with that of one irresponsible adult gun holder.
"When he stopped firing, he put the safety back on the gun."
Ya just had to make a dick out of the honest owners.
When it rains it pours Lead.............Can we stop this BS of Monkey See Monkey do?
Oh.....................OK!!!
Come on Obama! One executive order and we can take these boom sticks out of the hands of these shoot first, never ask questions later types.
Another guy who can't control himself.. We've got great education now, but too many thugs are avoiding it!
I see problems in this guys future...
Gun owners, you need to distance yourself from idiots like this and call them losers. Responsible gun owners "relieve stress" on a firing range or their own property. This screams of a cry for attention.
Dude, GO TO A FIRING RANGE!! I am sure there are a few in your area!! Guys like this give responsible gun owners a bad rap!!
Obama is too smart to do that. People who call for that would be wise to remember Andrew Jackson's response to the Supreme Court decision in Worcester v. Georgia: "John Marshall has made his decision; now let him enforce it!"
I am a gun owner, and support gun rights. I also support locking a dumb-ass like this up and not allowing him to legally ever possess a gun again. He could kill someone, whether he means to or not. This one has no business with a gun.
Is this man in our country illegally?
Why won't the media disclose this??
Let me spell it out for the anti-gun nuts out there:
PEOPLE need CONTROL, not guns. Guns are only dangerous in the hands of a person like this guy. Give it to someone who has actual self-control, you find they aren't quite so bad.
Maybe he will make TIME's Person of the Year. The rest of the line up with the exception of Malala is a joke.
I think there is something about using our hands on some sort of trigger that is innate in relieving stress - hunting animals or shooting at INANIMATE OBJECTS at a GUN RANGE. It's why I volunteer building houses on the weekends - using power tools like drills is a big stress reliever for me. Powerwashing the house is awesome. Again, the operative word is INANIMATE OBJECTS. To fire off something near a crowded mall when everyone is scared of their own shadow right now (and with good reason) is ridiculous. Seriously, there was no place outside of the city, away from people, he could have gone?
Right on Ryan! With one stroke of his mighty pen Obama can save us all from people like this. A ban on all firearms much like the UK did or perhaps Australia's gun ban? Yes that is the answer to all the criminal's problems. If no private person is allowed to own a gun then the criminals of this country will be free to commit whatever crime they wish at will without having to worry if the person/home owner is armed and able to protect themselves. Sound familiar does it? It should because it has happened and is happening right now in other countries that have disarmed their citizens in the name of "gun control." Their crime rates involving illegal use of firearms by criminals has risen by as much as 45% and will go no where but up. Yes disarm the private law biding citizens and create a nation of unwilling victims for the criminals who don't care about the law.
Seriously; The media is great at sensationalizing each and every time a person misuses a firearm. But isn't it just a bit strange that you never hear when a person uses a firearm to protect themselves in a safe and legal manner. Doesn't anyone here find this just a bit strange? Folks what has happened recently is terrible to say the very least. The problem is we have laws on the books to prevent this from happening and the criminals don't care about the current laws and they won't care about any new and stricter laws either.
We are being played so that we will be will parties to the banning of all private ownership of firearms. The media is doing their part in this scam by ignoring when a firearm is used legally to protect a person and making it a national media circus when a firearm is used illegally.
Maybe it's time to start putting all the guns in jail, this way, the only people who have them will be behind bars and who cares if they all shoot themselves?
New member of the national "I have acted stupidly and therefore give up the right to own another gun in my life time".
The saying "What goes up must come down" is an appropriate starting point. If
you fire a gun into the air, the bullet will travel up to a mile high
(depending on the angle of the shot and the power of the gun). Once it reaches
its apogee, the bullet will fall. Air resistance limits its speed, but bullets
are designed to be fairly aerodynamic, so the speed is still
quite lethal if the bullet happens to hit someone. In rural areas, the chance
of hitting someone is remote because the number of people is low. In crowded
cities, however, the probability rises dramatically, and people get killed quite
often by stray bullets. Most major cities have laws in place to try to keep
people from shooting guns into the air in celebration.

Arthur66, at least you are consistent if not very bright. The video says he was in the navy, one, and spanish names are older than english ones in California. Theres nothing to suggest he is an illegal (Just an idiot)but you have to go there. You are as dim as he is.
Stressed? Well add this to your troubles.
Don't yell "fire" in a crowded theater, don't shoot a gun at a mall, it's common sense. That's what shooting ranges are for.
Hi, DB
I think this guy is a click away from shooting people. I hope law inforcement keeps an eye on him !!!
Well masturbating to relieve stress is a sin. Shooting a gun of in a crowded mall parking lot isn't.
BTW the founders in the time the 2nd amendment was written defined a militia as a town, township or borough citizen organization under control of the colony's/state's governor through the local elected officials. The militia was to protect the citizens of said local/state from the Indians, foreign nations attacking, and from dictatorship or monarchy in our own government. They feared a large standing army in the country because it could be used to oppress the people. They thought a citizen army could attend to our security needs. Even in their times they were wrong. (War of 1812) It did not work during a time of 3 month long trans Atlantic travel and it won't work during a time of 3 hour trans Atlantic travel. Sorry folks you don't need a arsenal or a ma deuce to defend yourself. Our government has made war once on it's citizens and only after they fired on the legally elected government and committed treason.
Poor choice of action, 50 times.
You put a bullet into the air, it has to come down. This is why you NEVER aim a gun without knowing your target. Geesh... Every day, there is more evidence that the gun nuts are, well, NUTS.
Take his guns away. Now. Put him in jail without bail until such time as he can be evaluated. This is ridiculous. It is usually illegal to shoot firearms within any city limit unless at a bona fide shooting range.
We already do make a clear distinction between responsibile gun owners with self control and psychopaths who shouldn't own any kind of dangerous object. It's the anti-gun weirdos who like to lump all gun owners into the same group...
and transfer that stress nicely to many many others. how handy!
I am glad to see that SOME of the gun "enthusiasts" believe this man should never own a gun again.
However, any legislative action that would prevent a man like this from getting a gun is immediately opposed by the NRA and the very same gun "enthusiasts".
THAT is the problem. No one wants to take away every single gun (that idea is not realistic and those who support it are no different than the freaks who think everyone has the right to own a tank and a nuke).
So how do we pass a law that says people like THIS GUY, who are convicted of being irresponsible, or mentally unstable, are not allowed to own guns... when the NRA and gun "enthusiasts" oppose all of those laws when they are brought up?
I guess a better question would be: for those gun supporters on here who believe that he should not own another gun... what do you propose?
I support owning guns for protection, I do not support convicted criminals or the mentally unstable from owning guns. Because of this, I am called "anti-gun" by every single Republican I have ever met. So, if you Republicans are obviously unwilling to listen to my point of view, fine... what is YOUR solution for men like this?
What he said ...
As far as I can tell, the gun crowd is all for passing out the pistols and then seeing who the crazies are.
At that point, they say 'tsk, tsk, he is not a responsible gun owner'.
There's a time and a place for everything. If this guy relieves stress by shooting guns, then the time and the place is a gun range or out in the country side where shooting guns is permitted. Not in a crowded mall parking lot. This man is NOT an example of a responsible gun owner. He is a nut and/or a Bozo who needs to be separated from his guns and never be permitted to acquire guns again in his lifetime. It is not the guns, it is a person's maturity and mental stability that need to be tested as part of gun ownership. Only people who fear that they won't be able to pass such tests and so not be able to purchase guns are against such testing!
go get laid.helps me relieve stress.
gone4now... And Nancy Lanza was a responsible gun owner too..... until she wasn't.
Hopefully police arrested him for violating existing local codes about discharge of firearms.
Frankly, I wouldn't let this guy use a toy cap gun.
@perfectchaos....and whose to say the people you refer to won't at some point loose control..
Did you see this guy coming, it is not about anti-gun, it is about gun control, regulation,
hell call it what you want but i think the socialist angle is the best bet....
People with mental disorders should not have access to guns. This isn't controversial. It's common sense.
Vote 4 Pedro...I think it is also the law that certain unstable individuals and criminals are not allowed to legally purchase a fire arm. So what mental disorder? Depression? Stress? These can often be temporary conditions. I would say that he had a huge case of stupid. Perhaps he was not the owner of the gun The curiosity where did the bullets that he fired go...what goes up comes down. He was incredibly luck he didn't shoot people fleeing the mall even if he was not targeting them. He should have gone to the gun range like the rest of us.
"he fires guns to relieve stress", yeah now he's relieving stress in a jail cell. What a phucking moron.
When mental disorders are outlawed, only outlaws will have mental disorders. Wait.. Hold on and let me figure this out....
When laws are outlawed, only gun owners will have mental disorders. No, that's not it either.. Damn it!
I hate my brain! I should shoot it!!
I agree that we need to keep guns away from mentally unstable individuals. But how do you define and control that? Let's say that I get a license to own a gun and I'm a stable employed citizen with no criminal record. 3 yrs later I am raped, or I lose my job, or my partner takes off with a new woman. Incidents like that can rattle peoples minds and make them depressed and possibly violent.
What happens then? Do people renew their licenses yearly, or is it like a drivers license where it's good for 4-5yrs?
With the media today we get news instantly, so it seems like everyone who owns a gun is crazy. This is hardly the case. For every Killer like the one in CT, or CO, or OR there are a million or more responsible gun owners out there who wouldn't dream of such actions.
I don't own a gun. Never fired one. I have no desire to. I do however support the 2nd Amendment and those who wish to own guns.
I just don't know how gun control will prevent things like the tragedy in CT from happening. CT has some of the strictest gun laws in the country.
Janine,
It could help by not allowing the type of weapon he used to be available with the high capacity magazine he used. It could help less people die! No one is saying ban all guns or that these limitations will get rid of all assaults, but there is no civilian need for weapons like this. CT may have strict laws, but they still allowed this weapon to be purchased and they allow Ar-15s to be purchased with grenade launchers on them! What on earth do civilians need that for??
The military is actively working to get guns out of the hands of vets with PTSD, they recognize the problem there and are confident they can fix it.
@John, I am a Veteran with PTSD, I own firearms, am a firearms instructor and a machine gun instructor for the military. I handle weapons everyday. I served in Special Warfare. I get mad like everyone else, I am in pain every day physically and never have I ever had the inclination to ever shoot at anyone. Ever.
For those that say "get the guns out of the hands of the mentally ill" here is some common sense: they have to be diagnosed with that disorder. Lets say someone goes to a Dr, that Dr diagnoses them as "coocoo" and that stays in his files. Then that "coocoo" goes out and buys a firearm, gets a background check and it comes back clean. then what? Since the Dr did not have time to enter the person into some natinowide "coocoo" database, that "coocoo" can go out and purchase whatever he/she wants.
Obama made that his platform before he was elected, he was also caught whispering about staying under the radar until after the elections and so forth. Look how stricter guidelines are helping out in Illinois. Look at Mexico and their arms regulations and how the average public is dealing with that, then look at Australia. Is this where you want to be? When someone is kicking in your door? When someone is assaulting your family? Just curious. Not everyone that owns/carrys a firearm has mental issues.
The fact of the matter is that there are too many people in the world and mental illnesses in the population are growing. The gangs are growing. The access to weapons is growing. The violence on tv, games, movies, everyday life is growing.
Violence is being glorified. The gun problem cannot be fixed.
A long time ago, there were boards to oversee tv and movies, to minimize violence, sex and unsavory content. The left has worked hard to allow anyone and everyone to see and experience the violence and corruption of the human mind that took 27 beautiful people.
A very long time ago there was such a thing as family and community pressure to guide people and young people. There was a home life and families and channeled activities so that children and adults could be induced to behave properly.
This social fabric in the U.S. has been torn and no longer can families and communities weigh on the individuals to make them behave. Our prisons are overflowing and gangs are there to make money on drugs, prostitution, extortion etc.
When Obummer said that the marijuana problem was not a government priority, he all but invited the gangs to overrun the U.S. with mind altering drugs and invite all out wars between gangs as now exists in Mexico.
A huge fence has to built on the border, similar to the wall that Israel is building around the West Bank. Illegals have to thrown out of the country. The jobs have to be filled by American citizens and residents. Entitlements have to be reduced. Taxes have to be decreased to reward citizens and residents who work.
Obummer is lost in his mind.
Some of the bullets were fired at the ground, the others into the air. This particular mall is right up against the ocean, so I hope he fired in the direction of the ocean, although I am not certain.
The coocoo database! I like it.
todayopinion,
Why is it you all have to use terms like Obummer? You just attract criticism. Lets answer some of your points, because I too have opinions.
President Obama won two elections for president, both with more than 50% of the vote. Only five other presidents in our history has been able to do that. That would be 6 out of 44! He deserves to be called President Obama.
I don't have a problem with your first point. There is too much violence in the media, medias of all kinds. Not much you can do about that except to talk with your kids at an early age about it and try to make them understand it is not good to keep watching all that.
To have the censor boards regulate the media as you suggest would be violating the 1st amendment. So, am I understanding you right that we can violate only the constitutional amendments that YOU think should be, as long as we keep letting you have guns?
Your next point, I liked the 50's and 60's too, but those days are long gone. And just to make sure you know, conservatives have broken families too. In the 50's and 60's, there were problems. Not everywhere was the community like Leave It To Beaver.
Out prisons are over crowded. You suggest we should be building more of them? How about letting some of those inmates out who were only convicted of breaking personal use pot laws? More crime happens with alcohol use. Either substance, you hurt someone while using..you go to jail. I know, lets just criminalize alcohol use. Didn't work the first time, how do we think it will work with pot? We should allow for legalization and taxation of pot. License growers and regulate them. Tax them. Allow for legal importation of pot. Tax that. Allow sales only at certain places that can collect the tax. Smoke shops and liquor stores come to mind. Take the financial incentive away from the gangs and cartels.
Build a huge fence at the border? Why not one on the Canadian border too? Do you know there are far more deportations and far fewer illegal entrees by illegal aliens happening now under President Obama?
Finally, what entitlements are you talking about? Some that come to my mind are corporate welfare and insane military budgets. Also oil company subsidies. Did you know the reason they were subsidised in the first place was to help get the infrastructure up? It is up. Now is the time to end oil company entitled welfare. Taxes are at the lowest point now than they have been in 75 years. Some outdated taxes could be done away with, but if they are outdated, how much is being collected? I agree some outdated or stifling regulations should be relaxed or eliminated. That would help business more than tax rates. The republicans demand to cut loopholes would do nothing but create new ones. Don't get me wrong, we should close some loopholes but also raise tax rates and cut entitlements. All three along with some regulation relaxation would be the best way to go. Payroll taxes, everyone making less than $110,100 pays tax on all of that. At $110,101, they get a huge tax cut. The fair thing to do would be to eliminate the payroll tax ceiling and extend that tax to ALL income, with some exemptions, like the sale of a personal house or inherited house under a certain dollar amount or retirement income from capital gains to a certain point. But extend the tax to all other capital gains. this would allow for a much lower rate, keeping more money in the pockets of both consumers AND business. People could carry over losses from year to year to cover their risk point, but really, a lot of capital gains are "casino gambling" anyways. Do you want to subsidise gamblers? There are reasons people would lose from a year to a year legitimately and that would be written into the code. The transfer to a family member or members of inherited business property would only be taxed at the sale of that property to non-family members. Just keep your hands off my Social Security and Medicare! Unless you would like to do the fair thing and increase the benefits substantially.
This guy shooting his gun illegally at a busy shopping mall parking lot is at the very least stupid. He was lucky no one got hit by the falling bullets. He is also very lucky someone didn't "take him out". He committed a crime using a fire arm. That should make him lose his legal right to own any gun. Limiting the rounds a clip can hold is the only solution to senseless acts like in Connecticut. The only thing President Obama can do is to call for the assault bill to be reinstated. He can't do anything else until the Republican congress does their job so he can sign it.
You don't like President Obama? Fine. Respect the office at least. Respecting the office means respecting the man in that office too.
Clearly just another responsible gun owner!
The NRA spokesperson of the year. And Responsible Gun Owner of the year as well. Lets give him a medal and a parade! Hip Hip Hooray!
Are you saying "I" am not a responsible gun owner? I've been stressed beyond belief and never even thought of taking my gun out and blasting away in public. This guy obviously has something else wrong with him and as a previous poster said "his 2nd amendment rights should be removed" I agree wholeheartedly because idiots like him give those of us that give a s**t a bad name. I am a responsible gun owner.
Clearly just a couple of more people who define anyone who owns a firearm as irresponsible.
Grow up! The NRA and responsible gun owners such as I totally do NOT condone this! And I am not a big fan of the NRA,but no one in that organization would ever support or condone these massacres.
What an absolutely stupid thing to say. No wonder the media loves people like you, who can't tell the difference between inflamatory journalism and real news.
I think "420 frees the mind" is an accurate nom de plume for that poster.
Clearly, people aren't even smart enough to know what "clearly" means. But that comes as no surprise.
The terms "clearly" and "420" are mutually exclusive.
...has he never heard of a firing range or gun club where he could do it safely?
I am not sure every poster here is lumping all gun owners or card carrying NRA members together.
The copycats cometh! Thankfully, he didn't go into the mall and unload those rounds into crowds of people.
Had he known of a hotline to contact for some professional help- someone to talk to about his frustration this might have turned out differently. We need to cool off in our society and be able to find the right kind of help when we need it. We need to have better funding for mental health services and the awareness in place to know what to do when things begin melting down. It's not a perfect answer, but the same brain behind the hand holding the gun is the one that decides to either pull the trigger or to dial the phone for help. With the right knowledge, that same brain might pause long enough to get help instead of doing something regretful.
Well, I feel better now. I wonder if that moron was doing the same thing in Sandy Hook? Aurora? Columbine? "Just relieving stress?" WTF
He should lose his rights to own a firearm for ever. He could have killed dozens.
And yes another of our well regulated militias. Why do we need the police if we have armed Americans with AK47, AR15s, Glocks, S & W, H & K, etc.. I mean the right to arm bears , err i mean bear arms would and should make the police absent. Afterall thats why WE have the 2nd amendment because we didn't police back then!!!
Well, um, THAT, and that little thing about being able to defend against a government run amok.... But yours is a good one, too. I mean, sure, now that we have such honorable policemen (Drew Peterson, anyone?) why should anyone need to ever have protection?
*eye roll*
Marla,
Do you idiots really think that a "well-armed" militia will: 1) EVER go up against our army and 2) that they stand a chance?
Let's get @!$%#ing real here.
JM,
A bunch of goat herders in the desert have gone up against our army for ten years with Toyota trucks and small arms. Just sayin.
In some way, I almost wish the idiot militias WOULD take up arms and oppose the government. Maybe then, once they are obliterated can we have some common sense debates about gun ownership, mental health funding, and other issues that are not dependent upon a psychopathical reading of the Second Amendment to our Constitution. God, these people are freaks.
Youre the idiot, did you ever think that the rebels in Syria would be able to beat the extremely better armed government forces? Myself and others like me are part of the reason that Japan never tried to invade the USA. We are all the militia and part of the security of our children and of this nation. A militia isn't just to defend us from the government, bone head. Who's to say that our "Army" would follow the field commanders and fire at their own people. this is a mute point. I'll gladly let you turn your firearms because I know once you do, every criminal in the US will see the light because of your gesture and turn theirs in also...... hahahaha
JM,
I definate problem the militia faces.
JM-ask the people of Libya and Syria the same question. What was the first thing our government did in those places??
My question about the "right to bear arms" is:
What about the rest of the bear? May I have some bear legs and a bear head, too?
MBinCoeur,
Yes they have Toyota trucks and small arms...but they also have larger arms supplied by Iran and China. They also have the advantage of fighting in their homeland --- a lesson we apparently never learned from Vietnam. There is no comparison between the maniacs and Afghanistan and the maniacs here in the US...other than they are maniacs for different reasons.
Wow, the gun nuts are really out today!! Happy Holidays, gun nuts, I hope you get all medication you need for Christmas.
akman,
What? All the men were off fighting Japan in the south Pacific or Germany in Europe. There weren't any people like you around to defend the homeland. That's a fantasy.
Any dufus who believes they serevd so they could tell the rest of us they served to protect our right to free speech forget that I served so they could be gun owners, rednecks, racists and toothless goobers ...see anyone can make a meaningless statement
Please name one REALISTIC circumstance under which the people of the United States will rise to overthrow their government?
As to the goat herders, how many of them have died and how many of ours? And genius, please tell me who would supply you for ten years? The only reason those goat herders can "stay in business" is because there are larger geopolitical forces at play. It is obvious that you haven't thought through the logistics of fighting a protracted guerrilla war.
I bet half you dont know the difference between an assault rifle and a .223 but even at that you are sure are experts on social behavior. so after we take away guns from everyone, how will we regulate baseball knives after the guns are all gone.....
@JM-1992894
If Iraq and Afghanistan and Syria have taught us anything, yes, citizens can wage a war. It wouldnt be Joe Smith and his semi auto AR15, there would be defectors from the military as well. That means planes, tanks, and possibly even ships. Additionally, the US would not use their full military capacity to squash a rebellion. Any collateral damage would have major impact, and they would not take some risks with American citizens that they would take overseas. Support? Well, obviously inside the US there would be some support, rebels would also likely receive humanitarian aid as well as aid from US enemies and geopolitical rivals.
What circumstance might provoke such an act? It is hard to say. A shattered economy coupled with a movement of the federal government to strip states or individuals of rights might do it though. That brings up another good point, if states rights are threatened, entire states or large portions may try to secede.
The 2A isnt some outdated concept, nor is it exclusively some fanatics violent fantasy. It is a real check and balance system that is designed to allow for the replacement of government in the most dire of circumstances, and the only way it can function properly is if citizens are allowed to be armed and have access to their choice of weapons for the purpose of training, sport, etc. Im not saying that we should allow any level of weaponry to anybody, reasonable restrictions are in place for a reason (WMDs, active artillery pieces, etc) but aside from that, it only works as intended if citizens have access to arms.
@ Jaguar49
So...If you own a gun your a nut? Did I read you post right? You must have gunafobia. Hater, lumping all gunowners into a group like that.
say592,
Of course we can all sit here and come up with "feasible" scenarios under which a population may raise against its government. You cite Syria and other middle eastern countries as examples of what can happen. The part you are missing is that these are countries that have been under the thumb of a dictatorship for decades. You also ignore the fact that there are other players in the mix.
I would think that our other "checks and balances" would kick in WAY before you recur to "second amendment solutions", thus rendering the second amendment as a "guarantee against a tyrannical government" all but moot.
So, let's get real here: anyone that thinks that a forcible rejection of our government is a viable option is delusional. If it makes you Joe Smith sleep better at night to think that his .223 is going to protect him against the big bad government, then so be it. Just don't ask me to take that person seriously.
akman, your intellect is dizzying! And the term is "moot" not mute. Mute is what you need to try to be.
That is all!
Jaguar,
I think we better say "Merry Christmas" to these people. We wouldn't want to upset them, now do we? What with all the guns they hold.
Really, I am kidding but I do have a question. The second amendment says "well regulated militia". Wouldn't that mean a group with training and a militia leader? When the constitution was written, muskets were the weapon of the day with a cannon or two thrown in. Did the founders ever see what is happening in our society today as a possibility? That we would have automatic guns capable of firing off dozens of rounds a minutes? We need well regulated and enforced gun laws. Nothing more, nothing less.

What is a baseball knife? If you meant baseball bat, sure, those can be used as weapons but they can't kill dozens of people from across a room, a movie theater, a church or campus.
Dude, Shooting is a great way to relieve stress, but did you ever think of going to a GUN RANGE?
If shooting a gun relieves your stress, I'm glad I'm not in Dallas. You're scary Lamar. Can I interest you in some medication instead?
He should consider taking up Yoga. You're less likely to end up with your a** in jail.
O.K. Gang, anti gun freak or gun nut I think all can agree, this clown looses his second amendment rights, not for being stressed, not for being depressed, but because he has proven he is too damn Stupid to exercise his rights responsibility. A mall parking lot simply is not the proper place to do shooting for any reason. As always it is about Personal Responsibility.
I am thinking maybe one of the reasons these shootings get everyone so upset (aside from the obvious senseless loss of innocent life), is because we as society are cheated out of our pound of flesh, all these jerks doing the shooting kill themselves. No one can ask him why and point to real mental illness, we can not watch him stand trial or ultimately face the end of his life for his crimes. We are all left
The second amendment does NOT give individuals the right to own a zillion guns. It gives states the right to maintain a militia (ie group of military guys with guns) for defense in case we are attacked by a foreign power. I get so tired of the NRA and other gun lovers claiming this amendment gives THEM the right to own a gun. Get it right, for Pete's Sake!
babyboomer46
The Supreme Court disagrees with YOU. Get it right for Pete's Sake.
@babyboomer46
Yeah, that dang United States Supreme Court too, how dare they rule that the 2A does not conform to your limited understanding and blind hatred an object.
The 2A guarantees the individual right to self defense and access to small arms, per DC vs Heller, and other. It doesnt matter what you think, that is how the Supreme Court has interpreted it, and I guarantee you they have a much greater understanding of Constitutional Law than you ever will.
say592,
You forgot to mention that those SCOTUS decisions also give the govt the right to determine if certain weapons are too dangerous to possess and give the govt the right to limit and regulate 2nd amendment rights.
What goes up must come down
That was my first thought also.
He can relieve stress for the next 50 months in jail.
Just a legal gun owner and member of the well regulated militia letting off a little steam. Exercising his 2nd amendment rights...He looks like a constitutional scholar to me.
11madness
Where did it say he was a legal gun owner?
Don't lump all gun owners together - try thinking before you type, 11madness
ll Madness...............Is is possible, for you, to make an intelligent comment other than nonsense blabber?
Grow up!!!!
Cool, another benefit of gun ownership - stress relief. Just can't bring yourself to pull off a mass-murder, then pop off 50 rounds in the parking lot. You should be getting the picture of who buys guns by now.
Please, this nut job isn't exactly the model citizen.
wow that was pretty darned elitist of you. So I should then assume all elderly drivers are blind deaf, and run over people at shopping centers? Or perhaps, all Hybrid owners are stuck up, holier than though people who think their stuff don't stink? One total idiot with a gun (In one of the most gun controlled states in the nation BTW) does not make up the entire population.
As a matter of fact I know a lot of folks with CCWs with advanced degrees working for some of the largest tech companies in the world. I also find it interesting that your gun control laws will stop people from owning guns when the laws in place against discharging a firearm within city limits, murder, robbery and such have done NOTHING to stop these acts. The sad thing is only people who listen to these laws are the folks you can trust with a gun.
The psychos, and criminals will always get them. I would say, even as a CCW permit holder, and hunter, IF there was ever a gun control law, that would EFFECTIVELY take the guns away from criminals and give us a society where I would NEVER potentially need any more than my pepper spray, I would actually back that law. But since I am more likely to find a Unicorn running down Wall St, I will keep my second amendment rights.
What do you mean that this guy does not look like a model citizen? He looks like he could be Mitt's brother!
What a stupid thing to say! That man in no way represents the overwhelming majority of gun owners.
Estabsan & Concerned......
It is very obvious that neither of you should be gun owners? Stupid comments with no helpful commentary! If you have nothing better to do than make nonsense comments......Read a book! Stay off your laptops!
Seems the NRA has gone into their bunkers and taken down their facebook page.
They are starting to see too many gun nuts, and the NRA doesn't have any kind of a response. They are just lobbyists for manufacturers anyway.. Dirtbags themselves!
Most of the people who work at the NRA don't care about guns at all, it's just a job to them
You are both idiots. I am a member of the NRA and I am not underground and I am listening to you fools yak. To blame the NRA or the 2nd Amendment for some dumb ass with a gun just shows me just how closely related you are to this idiot. You probably dont know the difference between an assault rifle and a .223 caliber rifle.
What's your problem? I was defending people at the NRA saying most of them are just normal citizens, to respond to the people who think everyone at the NRA is a terrorist.
akman. 70% of the membership of the NRA supports more gun regulations.
Just not the manufacturer that pay the bills. They want to arm EVERYONE so they sell more product!
He is an idiot. Idiots also drive drunk and crash into other cars, potentially killing others. No sane CCW holder is going to whip out their gun in a public area and fire off some rounds for stress relief. Had this guy been in most any mall here in Florida, he might have gotten shot at by a CCW nearby.
omg. What a country we have. Relieve stress? Tka e long walk or something.. Gaaad bless duh nra
What makes you think that this moron even belongs to the NRA? Get your head out of your narrow viewpoint. The NRA doesn't support this irresponsible act...use some common sense before you try to slander any group!
Howaboot a bong hit instead?
Did the police take all his guns and ammo, and constitution be damned, will they forbid him to possess firearms of any sort in the future?
I LOVE THIS COUNTRY!! And I'm being 100% serious. THIS PLACE IS ON FIRE. If you can find anything boring or tired about the USA you need cocaine! WOoo.. this place is ENERGETIC!!! ENERGIZING!! STIMULATING!! CHAOTIC.. all the stuff the average person seems to pay for in "amusement parks". ARE YOU KIDDING WE ARE THE WORLDS GREATEST AMUSEMENT PARK!!!
Exercising a right never made someone feel like such a big man
Looks to me like this guy, on some level, wants help before he does something more serious.
Just asking for help won't get you anything though. You have to get yourself into the justice system, since this country decided mental health services were an unecessary burden on the taxpayer. Unfortunately the NRA will hire a lawyer for him, and see that he is released immediately and gets to keep his guns.
Okay folks change your drawers and get on with your life, nothing here.
Many more of the crazies [with guns] are going to come out of hiding in the next two weeks.
We had a similar case in Eugene Or the other day, the guy was out of jail the same day, before the story was even printed. And they want to blame the gun? how about putting the guy in jail.
Good God, maybe the Mayans were right!
By the way, there are a lot better ways to eliminate stress, and you can do it the privacy of your own bedroom.
Another white male insecure sicko with a GUN looking to do harm to innocent people because he can't have his way (boo-hoo)... KEEP him in jail ..otherwise we don't need another mass shooting.. we had 4 already this year in america..
The-Gate-Keeper
Most of these white trash sicko's probably had their gene pool tainted back in the 1800's .
Kevin D. Hoke
Here we go Again!!!! If all else fails......let's introduce Race!!!
The-Gate-Keeper didn't?
Need to start charging these kooks with domestic terrorism. Stress relief my a$$ - he wanted to terrify people, as he knew it would 'cause of all the recent massacres. What if someone dies from a heart attack or stroke caused by the adrenalin rush induced by mayhem gunfire, huh? That's manslaughter, at least, or even second-degree murder. Put his butt in jail for decades, please.
For the record AKMAN65, Japan did try to invade the US, as did Germany. And it wasn't GI Homeowner that defended this country from them . It was the Coast Guard and the National Guard. But...the biggest deterent wasn't gun enthusiasts like you, it had something to do with oh, what was that little deterent... Oh yeah. The atomic bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
There is also a phenomena known as "friendly fire", when some nut jobs decided they didn't like their orders. (Happened quite a bit in the Vietnam war. Where platoon leaders got "shot".) We have too many people living in fear of "what might happen" that they may be the cause of something actually happening. It is already happening.
Time to RUB Him Out!
You are as fu*king crazy as the guy shooting the gun.
Everyone agrees that we have to try and stop Weapon Violence.
1) Outlaws Automatic Weapons. Nine shots and you have to pull the safety and reload.
2) Outlaws cartage bigger then 9 shot.
3) Require that central Database be maintained in Homeland Security of all gun owners and guns sold.
If we do not implement these Laws as a Nation then we all should all go out and buy an AK 47 to protect families.
TB-2354489
Do you know ANYTHING about guns?
Outlaws automatic weapons? Oh you mean like they pretty much have already by requiring a special license before you can purchase one? And the fact that there has NEVER been an incident that has involved one? "Pull the safety and reload"? What on earth does that even mean? And what exactly is a 'cartage'?
You people have absolutely no concept of logic. There are millions of people that own these items. Every one of the people that have committed this sort of crime is someone with obvious mental issues. Don't you think that maybe the problem isn't the items, but the people with mental issues not being identified and helped in a constructive manner?
Outlaws cartage bigger then 9 shot
Hell I got a pellet gun that would have twice the knock down power of #9 shot. That would limit hunting to sparrows & humming birds.
Go way out there. He was getting rid of stress, I'm sure a $20 hooker would have done just as well. If he couldn't get a hooker, he could strenghten one of his arms with some excercise.
get a license? that won't mean nothing how many people drive cars without a lincense? lots more that you realize.
