use the national guard to patrol the school ,one guardsman will do the job ,no extra cost to the taxpayer, they spend a weekend a month if not on active duty and this could be part of their commitment, this would be better then having teachers armed,we use crossing guards to get the kids to school and I think that this is an easy solution to this problem ,instead of banning guns and fighting with the NRA.remember it is people who kill and if they are faced with a armed national guard trooper they will back down. Our politicians are only concerned with holding their jobs so dont expect them to do anything for us, the common people ,we will have to march and gain support to get this done in a sensible manner.Oh by the way lets dump any politician that wont swear to be in the same govt programs as we are, we have been so foolish to let these jerks make rules for us over the years and they exclude themselves as if they are better then us,Wake up America

This is really crummy journalism. Read the first half or so. We know nothing of the type of aircraft or the airline (until later).

Pull the plane and do a full in flight inspection. A non repeatable on-ground problem does not mean a problem does not exist. If people smelled smoke, there's a problem somewhere.

I think I know what happened, it happen to me once while working (I]m a Flight Attendant) a flt out of Boston, sometimes when they apply the de-ice liquid some of it goes thru the AC vent and smoke can come into the cabin the reason experienced crews don't get scare is due to the smell, this type of smoke has a "cotton candy" aroma and not the usual " burn aroma" from a real fire.

Merry Christmas everyone! Oh, I quit flying when they found bogus parts in the space shuttle, Wonder how many counterfeit bolts are holding our aircraft together? Then there's always the chance of gremlins or a man on the wing.

So was it a United Airlines plane? The story just says "a plane". It does say that United will accomodate the passengers but why did the story just say "an airplane"....why not state the airline duh.
