In classrooms, churches, and other places, bells rang out across the country while people observed a moment of silence for the victims of the Newtown, Conn. shooting. NBC's Ron Mott reports.
Updated at 3:40 p.m. ET: The last of the funerals for the 26 victims of the school shooting in Newtown, Conn., were held Saturday, ending a week-long procession of funerals as the final three young victims are laid to rest.
On Friday morning, exactly one week after a gunman burst into Sandy Hook Elementary and killed 20 first-graders and six educators, the nation paused for a moment of silence and tolled bells 26 times for the victims.
Josephine Gay's funeral mass was held at Saint Rose of Lima Saturday morning. The first grader had just turned 7 the week of the shooting. On Monday, purple balloons — Josephine’s favorite color — sprouted from the family mailbox and those of all her neighbors.
"'Joey' is a beautiful little girl, may she never be forgotten and live forever in our hearts," wrote Polly Larsen, a family friend, on Facebook.
Six-year-old Ana Marquez-Greene had just moved to Newtown two months ago, in part, because of Sandy Hooks’s pristine reputation, her grandmother, Elba Marquez said. Ana's funeral was held Saturday morning at First Cathedral in Bloomfield, Conn.
Ana’s father, Jimmy Greene, wrote on Facebook, "As much as she's needed here and missed by her mother, brother and me, Ana beat us all to paradise."
Emilie Parker, 6, loved to make people smile and never missed a chance to draw a picture or make a card. Her father, Robbie Parker, said she loved to try new things, except for food.

In a press conference, Parker said he held no animosity for the gunman, even as he struggled to explain the death to his other two children, ages 3 and 4. He was sustained, he said, by the fact that the world is better for having had Emilie in it.
"I'm so blessed to be her dad," Parker said.
Emilie was laid to rest Saturday in Ogden, Utah, where her family lived before moving to Newtown. On Friday night her family held a memorial service in Ogden and released 26 lanterns. Emilie's dad released the final lantern, a pink one, his daughter's favorite color.
Back to school: Jan. 3
As the funerals and wakes for those killed come to an end, Chalk Hill Middle School in neighboring Monroe is being refurbished into an elementary school, ready to open on Jan. 3.
The first grade will be consolidated into one class, according to The Associated Press. The rooms are being repainted, the technology being upgraded and the floor being raised in the bathrooms so that the little ones can properly sit on the toilets.
Chalk Hill teachers have volunteered to decorate and paint the classrooms, and the school district is offering the middle school, which has been empty for two years, free of charge.
"We're going to have a lot of support for them," Newtown Superintendent of Schools Janet Robinson said of the approximately 30 teachers and staff members from Sandy Hook. "Certainly, if they need more time, they can have more time. But I think many don't want their children -- they own those children -- they don't want them to be with a substitute. So I think most of them are going to try to come back."
Robinson described to the AP how the morning of the shooting unfolded for her.
She arrived at the Sandy Hook firehouse where families of students had gathered, but she didn’t know how many children had been killed.
Then the police chief took her aside, she recalled: “He said, ‘Janet, this is much worse than you're probably thinking.’”
The Associated Press contributed reporting.

Leave those people ALONE! The media needs to go home!
I heard several people that lost loved ones say on television they wanted their story told and for people to know their loved ones and that they matter. One Mother that lost a son thanked Anderson Cooper for coming back and telling the story of her son. I have found that folks like to talk about their loss and most want America to know how awful this was. One Mother said, maybe something good can come out of this by talking about guns and violence through the media. I do not enjoy listening to the bells and names being called out but I think it is my duty as an American to listen. The media is not the problem, they are just doing their job to get the story out. Everyone has the freedom to turn the media off. I think the media serves a purpose.
No, we all need to keep our feet on the throats of these spineless politicians who do nothing but shake when the NRA tells them to. This event must NEVER be forgotten so that some decent legislation can come about to honor these innocent children who were SLAUGHTERED with an assault rifle that has NO PLACE in humanity other than to kill. The parents of those children couldn't even take a last viewing of them because of the bullets this maniac used. So I say, let's keep this alive until we get some gun control in this violent country.
CONGRESS CONSIDERS LEGISLATION TO HOLD BIG MEDIA LIABLE FOR THEIR ROLL IN PROMOTING MASS SHOOTINGS....any news outlet that devotes more then 5% of front page to massacres or related stories may be subject to massive lawsuits and criminal prosecution.
How's that for a headline MSNBC?--your so accustomed to complete lack of responsibility it would be quite a shock....something worthy of a hysterical outrage about having your constitutional rights limited by big government. Hmm?
It's not about to happen--but we can all boycott these stories--as I did for a week. I don't know many details of the shootings that were not contained in the insulting MSNBC headlines blatantly treating us as pawns. Did I miss anything? If you want to make these rare events even more rare, completely avoid these stories that feed the next desperate failing young man to consider doing the same.
If you want to make your kids safer--learn about the particulars of lightening strikes as those kill FAR more kids then school shootings ever have....perhaps make them wear crash helmets anytime they leave the house as tripping on the sidewalk kills more kids.
I think I could handle a lightening strike because it is an act of nature. Children die from all kinds of things just playing and living their lives. Being gunned down is a very unnatural act and you feel completely helpless. The fact that there is ANY chance of a child being killed by a shooting is too much. Never should happen ever. Just because you decide not to watch or listen does not make the problem go away, it is here and it is evil. The media is not the problem, guns are the problem, and you folks that do not want to talk about that are just going to have to get used to the discussion, thank goodness the media is here to keep front and center. As we slowly get control of the madness things may get better but we have to have the media on topic.
fuel, maybe if you read a newspaper once in a while you wouldn't have to rely on msnbc.
A group of students and others who survived a mass killing at the Red Lake Reservation school in Minnesota in 2005 are on their way to Newton to offer condolences and whatever help they can, in the way that students of Columbine did for them.
Congress has waited too long to address the issue of school safety. All the states have, as well. It should have been priority after Virginia Tech. If Congress and the State boards are serious, they need to show it by cutting their Christmas vacations short and convening their discussion groups no later than December 27.
And stop the bullsh#t about gun control being the top priority. The freaking guns are ALREADY on the streets and available to whomever wants to make a name for themselves. THEIR kids are protected by armed guards... they have no problem what THAT scenario.
Why do some of you keep criticizing the media coverage when you are commenting about a media story?
I'm a teacher and 2/3 of my kids were absent on friday.
Our kids have been the victim of a society who can't agree on how to protect them and they are afraid. It's time to put politics aside and figure out a way our children can receive a quality education without being afraid they will be shot.
I have issue with the cleaned up, sanitized image of the mass murderer Adam Lanza we're being presented with. The photos of Adam Lanza as an 8 year old and 14 year old just don't present a realistic image of the mass murderer. The package is just too neat and tidy so speculation rules the massacre due to the mental illness of a reclusive "young man" or "kid" as many have referred to him as. Adam Lanza used his SANE mother's gun to murder her and 26 children and educators before killing himself. Let's not forget this important fact, the guns were not his to start with. Lanza's access to those weapons was lethal.
I guess you aren't interested in this mass murder. Don't read about it, save yourself the anguish.
Do not let these children die in vain.
STOP the insane gun culture this country has become.
More guns is the solution for gun violence just as much as more water solves flooding.
You CANNOT stop a guns (or ANY weapon for that matter) just by creating a 'no weapon zone' or banning specific weapons. The whackos and the criminals will ALWAYS have them and you will be DEFENSELESS and die! Arm yourselves and stop asking stupid politicians to solve your problems. Grow a pair and learn to think...look at ANY country that banned guns and see how they fared...
Violence begets violence, folks. The fact that people don't understand that more guns means more violence is mind boggling to me. There will always be violence, but if we remove the tools that cause the most violence, we are off to a good start. Gun control now. For those of you who say the whacko in China attacked 30 plus children with a knife...yes he did, and guess what, none of them are dead or have had their faces reduced to pulp that was so bad that families were not recommended to see their children for the last time because of the damage caused by an assault weapon. There is absolutely no reason for anyone in this country to have an assault weapon except the military and special forces. If you like to hunt, you can use a rifle. You do not need an assault weapon, and if you do as has been said by others, you are a really bad shot! Go practice at the range. This has got to stop, folks. The second ammendment says we have the right to bear arms to form a militia...that would be the national guard guys. Join the national guard if you have an assault weapon fettish. Times change, laws and ammendments are modified. The second needs to me modified. Get these horrible weapons out of our violent cultures' hands.
haggisbingo
I have read many of your comments and you seem to be one of the few sane people on these boards. Thank you for your rational comments that speak the truth. I will never understand the people in the US love of guns. Here in Canada in my years on earth all I have seen are hunting rifles which have to have the pin out of them and no ammunition and then in a locked case and my ex then put them in a locked closet. We are not packers of guns nor do we feel totally unsafe if we dont have a weapon in the house and our murders per year are 150. We have strict regulations on the guns just as we have on our cars and our mental health access isnt perfect but if there is any fear of someone harming themselves or others they can be held for 72 hours for observation wherein they have a chance to diagnose and begin treatment if needed. I suffer from clinical depression and have been under the care of a psychiatrist for over 20 years now and it doesnt cost me a penny. So I agree something needs to be done regarding mental health care in the US. But thank you for your words of wisdom. I only hope some people heed them.
Love begets love. I personally do not own a gun and see no need for one. I know I am safe. I know Law of Attraction. I know that what I do to another I do to myself. I know love is the answer. I know and understand that what I think or do I am telling the universe that this is how life is.
I believe in unconditional love. Everyone is a brother and sister. Everyone has the right to believe what ever they wish. I love those who think they need a gun for safety. I know if no one was worried about them or their children being killed, then their would be no one to kill them.
The most deadly assault weapons in America:
The abortion "doctor's" vacuum machine and chemicals.
Our Fourth Estate has failed us for about 50 years. They all should have left Newtown by 5 p.m. Saturday. Their presence was an active boil on the emotions of all residents. They had nothing left to say, cover, or report. Shame on every last one of them for their endless presence and pontification. Nothing but hot-air spouting talking heads all in the pursuit of ratings. My concern is for the parents and families, and all the responders, clergy, the medical examiner and his staff, all who had to deal with this tragedy. The school will no doubt be bull-dozed and a park will replace it. No one any one can return to work there, ever.
Comprehensive Post
Get Mad, Stay Mad!
So here we are, one week out from the horrific slaughter of the innocent at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. People dither, dawdle, delay and deflect about the causes and the solutions to end the gun fetish nightmare that is demonstrably slaughtering more men, women and children on a rapidly increasing basis. I say, right now, you have to Get Mad and Stay Mad!
Everyday that gun control laws don’t change so that rational people can live without fear, YOU, Yes YOU, need to see the Specter of Death, swathed in the grimy, fetid fabric of darkness, a sepulchreful grin in a bleached, leering skull, reaching a bony, withered hand, dripping with the gore of the freshly killed coming to clasp your children into the eternal, unchanging night that is death’s domain. You need to Get Mad and Stay Mad!
And by mad, I do not mean the insensate, inchoate rage that characterizes the typical American gun wielding psycho-killer. I’m speaking of the anger of righteous indignation, a white hot fury that won’t be banked until justice under the law and reform of the institutions that allow this gun madness to be perpetrated into an endless, blood soaked perpetuity is achieved. Get Mad and Stay Mad!
Now some people may think the 20 or 26 “Acts of Kindness” is an appropriate response. Or flooding Newtown with teddy bears and stuffed animals and free Christmas trees is a relevant way to deal with this situation. This is a typical momentary, self-indulgent, conceited panacea of slothful, indolent eyewash that typifies the American response. Has 26 acts of kindness changed a single law? Has a memorial of teddy bears and frost bitten flower arrangements helped a mentally ill person get the treatment they need before the voices in their head direct them to the next killing field? No, but it is so typically American to think, “Well, I’ve bought a toy or I donated to Good Will; I wonder who won “Survivor” or “X Factor” or whatever the next mundane, inane, attention grabbing freak show is passing for “entertainment” these days?” That won’t cut it anymore. Get Mad and Stay Mad!
Am I hurting you? Am I assaulting your feelings? Do you think it’s as bad as being riddled by multiple, high speed .223 or nine millimeter bullets, tearing your flesh asunder, penetrating you with searing pain, while your brain tries to process the surprise and shock of your sudden, vicious violation? A violation that you’re to young to comprehend as the precious lifeblood flows from your body and chills to the same temperature as the linoleum floor that you’re forever staining with the essence of your vitality. Am I hurting you? As hurt as a parent who dropped their child off at school never expecting to get a call about a mass murder? As hurt as the gut wrenching, nerve snapping adrenaline surge of searching to find your child’s face in a crowd of bewildered, weeping and terrorized children? As hurt as the parent who is asked to come and identify a bullet riddled, metal shredded corpse that only hours ago was their beloved light and joy of their earthly existence? If that’s what it takes to motivate you to action, then I hope I’ve stung you to the very core of your being and that you might taste even one salty, bitter tear as it courses slowly down your face in between constricted gasps and sobs of sorrow. Then, Get Mad and Stay Mad!
So, what can you do? What can I, one person do? Block out some of your 1080 p “story time” that’s being regurgitated from your DVR and write your elected representatives to demand change now. Find like minded friends, neighbors and co-workers and pick a date to march, en masse, to your state capitol to demand change. Then take those same people and find more and take chartered buses to the nation’s capitol on an appropriate day, say, Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2013, depart those buses and rally on the Mall to demand change from your elected representatives. If it doesn't work the first time, keep doing it, until we get the results that end this gun crazed madness that is killing innocent citizens; men, women and children at our schools and malls and churches and political gatherings. Until that happens, Get Mad and Stay Mad!
Here is a sample template you can use to correspond with your representatives:
Dear Mr./Mrs (Your Representative/Senator name here),,
In light of the increasing frequency of killings throughout the country characterized by the use of assault style/military grade weapons, I am corresponding with you today to urge you to support legislation to put common sense controls on the use of firearms in this country. It is past time for this problem to be addressed and stop the scourge of this type of violence from taking more innocent lives.
As an American, I am entirely cognizant of the effects of this type of weaponry. I will state, without qualification, this type of weaponry has no legitimate place within civic society. I firmly believe, that the onus of limiting these weapons falls upon you and your fellow elected representatives.
I respectfully request that you take the following legislative initiatives; 1) eliminate the gun show and internet loop holes on background checks, 2) eliminate the sale of assault style/military grade weaponry, 3) eliminate the sale of extended clips and speed loading devices, 4) legislate that firearms be registered in the same manner as motor vehicles with comprehensive written and skills demonstration before the issuance of any permits to own and operate firearms, 5) implement the mental health care equivalency provisions of the Affordable Care Act. I firmly believe that these steps will help increase public safety while at the same time respect the Second Amendment right of the nation’s citizenry. As you are aware, the Supreme Court has ruled that no rights are absolute and laws limiting fully automatic weapons and weaponry that launches explosive projectiles have been severely limited within the Second Amendment "umbrella" of the right to bear arms.
In conclusion, I hope you will initiate this common sense legislative effort in the next Congress and that with your diligence and constructive effort, we may achieve the safety and security our citizens deserve.
Sincerely, (Your name here)
The life you save may be your own or your child's!
Have a safe and joyous Holiday season.
ForePlinger. I am in awe. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for voicing what needs to be said.
The vitriolic, divisive ideologies currently at work in this country are far more dangerous than any gun. If you think a government that cannot even pass a budget is the solution to the problem, then you are either sadly mistaken or part of the problem.
Amen, foreplinger. Better yet, do the 26 acts of kindness and then get mad as h*ll if you aren't already. I've done and continue to do acts of kindness, and for me, it just makes me more furious. Folks, this needs to be a tipping point to change all of this BS. This was a tipping point for many, and it is our responsibility to continue on fighting. I will not live in a culture like this any longer, and so it is my responsibility to help change it. I hope others will recognize this and contribute to a better U.S. "We can do better than this."
Although not as eloquently as you wrote, I too, emailed my US Senator, US Representative, and President Obama requesting that our government gather together wise people who can propose and pass firearm legislation that honors the second amendment while still protecting our citizens.
Your Obama is sunning himself along with his family in Hawaii. I've emailed and written to Obama to receive a form answer that never has anything to do what I am talking about.I've emailed bush and Romney and both times received actual reply's on the subject that I was concerned about.I have no respect left for any of the Democrats in this country. They give great speeches but are do nothing wealthy and arrogant liberals.
Don't you just love the FAKE "outrage" of the leftists? "Oh, 20 little kids were brutally murdered," but at the same time, they froth at the mouth about abortion "rights." ONE-HUNDRED & FIFTY Sandy Hooks of kids are killed DAILY in America's abortion clinics. That's 3000 dead kids in the name of "choice."
Nauseating hypocrisy.
Ten to twenty percent of births end in miscarriage. When are you going to stop the greatest
abortionist of all, your God?
You can't have it both ways!
Use your time constructively to advocate for sensible gun control legislation!
I agree with GreatlyEntitled. TTerryftb, it's not so much as not being interested in mass murder or news. Most people are drawn to these stories, especially ones of this nature. As a nation, a parent, a family member, &/or a friend a person can't help but to feel horribly ill & sadden about what happened in Conn. However the families of these precious children & adults that died in this massacre that day should not have re-live it thru the media day in & day out. They don't need reminders that their loved ones are gone or when their funerals are. This is something they will live with the rest of their lives once the sensation of this dies down & the rest of the world eventually forgets this happened. As a nation this effected us all true, but it will forever change the families of the loved ones that passed away & it will forever change the ones who went thru this traumatic experience that day. My heart goes out to this entire community & my prayers are with them. It's time for the media to let this community grieve without outsiders looking in. They should be able to grieve in peace!!
God Bless the children and the brave adults who gave their lives to try to save them. So much potential lost, so much grief for the families. Christmas will be very difficult time for all of the survivers for a very long time to come. We must look to other countries like Australia, had a mass killing, passed a no-gun law within a very few months. No more mass killings. Same with Great Britain. Israel doesn't not allow private citizens to own weapons and look what they deal with on a daily basis. We cannot let groups like the NRA buy our government nor our votes. Have you ever heard such rubbish as their leader spoke in his press conference. What a way to go to school, greeted by armed guards. Tell me, since most police forces are being downsized because of budget crises, where are we getting the patrolmen to guard schools? And what is that teaching the children about our country? If that doesn't prove what the NRA is comprised of, well, what can I say.
The tears will be forever, they just won't always show.
In my 57 years, nothing has disturbed me so profoundly as this tragedy. The thought of twenty six-year olds being gunned down while in their classrooms sickens me like nothing else I have experienced in my life. I am going to send a check to Newtown, but NOTHING will ever take away the shame of this terrible tragedy. It is a blight on our country that something like this took place. We should all be ashamed it happened, we let the children down. Every one of us.
I had friends call from New Zealand about the killings. I was ashamed for our country. New Zealander are avid hunters but they keep it at that. I really did not know what to say when they ask how this could have happened. I just mumbled and said our guns are out of control in this country and we can not get anyone to do anything about it. They did not understand and nor do I.
Sorry, the numbers do not lie. We have by far the highest rate of homicides by firearms of any western democracy, no one is even close to us in that disgraceful category, and it has everything to do with the easy access of guns. At the very least, you should be willing to see these weapons like the Bushmaster banned, they are kid killers and cop killers, they serve no purpose for hunting and are weapons of war, meant to kill as many human beings as possible. Why do you think police forces all over the country support the ban in assault weapons and semi-automatic rifles? I was a hunter in my youth, we do not need these weapons either for hunting or for personal defense.
Even per capita, it is by far the highest. I took Canada's murders-by-guns one year (52) against the United State's murders-by-guns (over 10,000). I then multipled the number of Canada's murders-by-guns by 10, because Canada has approximately 10% of the population of the United States. Well, we still have a 520 murders-by-guns # compared to over 10, 000. Food for thought.
Why would you send a check???
A NRA gun nut said that their guns are MORE important then an innocent childrens live. This is typical for NRA gun nuts, guns are their life and their obsession. I dare anyone of them to spew their NRA crap to this grieving community.
Tony, I'm not a member of the NRA and don't even own any firearm period. I think you are full of horse @!$%#. What is the name of the NRA nut who said that their guns are more important than an innocent childs life ? TELL EVERYONE... WHO IS IT ???? Your next comment is equally full of @!$%# !!!
smh

The NRA and their supporters could care LESS what happened in Newtown and especially for the people massacred and their families. All they care about is gun sales and owning more, and more powerful guns. They value guns over peoples lives.

Did somebody say: Press Conference?
What Press Conference? There was nothing but a couple of pathetic speeches telling us that the fault lies elsewhere, the press, the movies, videos, songs, etc. No questions from the media, and they called that a Press Conference?
It's like calling Bush a benefactor of humanity.
Condolences to all the victims families.
To Responsible Gun owners: Why would you not support banning semi-automatic assault rifles and high capacity magazines?
I believe that these type of guns are only part of the problems in today's violent society. By the way, I am not a hunter but I do own a shotgun that was passed down to me. As Americans 1st, were is our common ground - common sense these days?
Effective weapons are necessary to resist an out-of-control, homicidal government.
First the government takes your guns, then the government takes your lives.
John - I think you forgot to take your pills today.
Everyone take a deep breathe and calm down. This was a real tragedy that some nut slaughtered all
the children and adults. NRA members are law abiding citizens that like to shoot firearms of all types. They are no different then any other family in America. Our U.S. Government sold hundreds of the same Ar15 rifles to the Mexican Cartels which is killing our agents. Chicago, Washington D.C. and California have the most gun laws in the U.S. and the most killings of young black and Mexican men. Please don't blame the NRA for without them this government will take away all our rights. Maybe not now but in the near future.
just another person saying that the govt is out to take our guns, turn us over to the UN, be spied upon by black helicopters, listening to all our calls. Geez! I've been hearing this for 40 years. I know a guy who puts cardboard over his monitor and tv screens at night. Even when they are turned off! He say the govt is watching us all--even that way.
I feel so sorry for all the families during this holiday season. You and everyone else who knows these families are in my thoughts and prayers this holiday season. What a ruthless to do to such innocent people and especially the children. They are in heaven now.
To all the gun nuts who are wringing their hands and spreading the lie that our President is going to take away their weapons, I say BUSHWAH! The NRA, Faux Noise and their resident nuts were broadcasting this nonsense four years ago when Obama was first elected. IT DID NOT HAPPEN! Now they are shouting the same thing from every direction to scare the Preppers etc. into buying more and more guns. I would venture to say the shouters all have stock in gun manufacturers and are making money hand over fist. Its all BUSHWAH! All sane and sensible people want is a FOREVER BAN on semi/automatic weapons and large capacity ammo magazines. It is not unreasonable. May Newtown NEVER be forgotten and please God, may it NEVER happen again!

Don't you just love the FAKE "outrage" of the rightys? "Oh, 20 little kids were brutally murdered," but at the same time, they froth at the mouth about welfare and food stamps. Tens of thousands are demonized and left to fend for themselves in poverty, many of the children. That's 300,000 kids in the name of Compassionate Conservatism. OH BTW, hands off my semi/automatic weapons.
Nauseating hypocrisy.
See a few well placed changes and we have a totally different conversation. Neither of which is about this topic. GUNS!!!
So glad all the families have finally had a chance to say their final goodbyes and be surrounded by the love and sympathy of literally thousands. May those who passed rest in peace and may their families, friends and townspeople begin to get some peace.
If you think the grief this country is dealing with now is bad, you might want wrap your mind around this. What the past ten days have demonstrated is that the best way to hurt Americans, make them feel pain, is to kill their young. There are people in this world who badly want to hurt America and they now know how to do it. attack and kill little children and the place to do it is our "gun free" school zones. A few years ago Chechnyan terrorists in Russia seized a secondary school and slaughtered over a hundred students. I think it would be wise and prudent for our elected officials to consider after last week's happenings that if we can envision this scenario so can they.
In the 60's as teen I went to a Gun Control rally and was certain that what we were doing would stand for something. Now here we are 40 some years later and the conversation is still being waged and there are so many people still making the argument that it is our right so keep your legislation off our weapons. The poor young man who did this awful thing in Newtown, CT's mom had a right to own these most dangerous weapons and he got his hands on them in a period of undescribed anger that still has everyone puzzled and asking why? I still shake my head at 40 plus years later and we still have no recourse and no answers and now 20 First Graders and 6 adults and that sick young man are dead and we are still arguing about who is not to blame and who is. Ban assault weapons to those who are not military or law enforecement.
That AR-15 was on the banned list of the Brady law. Bush and the GOP let it expire in 2005 and she bought the weapon legally after that date.
Notice all the protesters when the NRA announced that schools need armed security ?? Now look at all the schools requesting armed security ???
un believable !!!!!
Well the anti gun idiots have stunned me again. Why in the hell would anyone with half a brain not want armed guards at our schools? After this last tragedy and they still don't want armed staff and possibly teachers? What is it gonna take then before you morons think we need armed security. I have a news flash for the democrats and libs, GUNS AREN'T GOING ANYWHERE THE CRIMINALS WILL ALWAYS HAVE THEM AND FIND A WAY TO GET THEM. Banning assualt weapons won't do a damn thing. What it will do is force law abiding citizens to go underground to obtain these guns to protect themselves and their families from this decaying society. So now you have criminals and law abiding people breaking the law. Wake up democrats and libtards arm the schools to the hilt or you'll see tragedies like this for years to come. Even if you outlawed all guns tomorrow there are 10's of millions of guns already in circulation in this country. You think the law abiding citizens are gonna give em up, hell no. You think the criminals are gonna give em up, hell no. Ok, now you see the reality of the situation. Now you have a choice, you can arm yourself against evil or you can sit and bitch about gun control and dream of a world without violence. Take your pick
This is a very, very sad and horrible tragedy !!!! BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED !!! There have been many warning signs !!!
Just ONE armed teacher or security guard could have saved all those lives !!!
The NRA recommended armed security guards and they were POO POOED !!!!
Now look at all the schools looking for security guards !!!
WHAT A TERRIBLE SHAME !!! I blame this all on liberal gun grabbers !!! 100% !!!!
Let me see if I've got this right? A single nutcase goes into a school, with stolen weapons and comitts mass murder and it's everybodys fault for not agreeing with someone elses point of view on gun control? It's ok to buy the young people first shooter games they want for X-mas, but not teach them respect for other people? Ok, I admit I'm lost and they say polaticians try to dazzle with b.s. What happened in Ct. is awful, I tear up with every story I read about it. The hurt, anger and loss is being overwelmed by the anger of opinions about gun control. People who sit in front of their computers and gaming consols can't understand people who find enjoyment from sitting in front of a target and instead of using a controller use a gun. How many of you level up in a game to get bigger weapons? Do I need a large capacity clip to shoot targets? NO!! You do in a game tho to win.
We have forgotten that children died to get on our soap box and yell. How do you forget the children and their familys, the teachers and all their friends and family? It must be a power thing. Will the N.R.A force me to buy a gun? Will the anti gun people come into my house and hit me over the head to take my guns? Which group will do violence next to prove their point???
We have lost a child, a school teacher no less, to a sudden and unpreventable accident. Our hearts go out to the families and friends of these wonderful children and adults, especially at this time of the year. Know that their pain is truly beyond comprehension. Please help them and support them and listen to them in the days to come. They need your patience, love and understanding in the days ahead.
