Cmdr. Job W. Price, 42, died Saturday, Dec. 22, of a non-combat-related injury while supporting stability operations in Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan.
Updated at 4 p.m. ET: The commanding officer of SEAL Team 4 died in Afghanistan Saturday, U.S. military officials announced Sunday.
Military officials tell NBC News they are looking into the death of Cmdr. Job W. Price as a possible suicide, but that his death remains under investigation.
Price, 42, of Pottstown, Pa., was in charge of coordinating all Team 4 missions.
Price was in Afghanistan supporting stability operations in Uruzgan Province. He was assigned to an East Coast-based Naval Special Warfare unit based in Virginia Beach, Va.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Price had worked for the Department of Defense since 1989. He attended Pottstown Senior High School.
SEAL Team 4 is among eight SEAL team deployments. SEAL Team 6 is best known among them for finding and then killing Osama bin Laden, who orchestrated the 9/11 attacks on America.

Active Shooter Crisis Actors Target Mall Shootings via Visionbox
DENVER, CO, October 31, 2012 -- A new group of actors is now available nationwide for active shooter drills and mall shooting full-scale exercises, announced Visionbox, Denver's leading professional actors studio.
Visionbox Crisis Actors are trained in criminal and victim behavior, and bring intense realism to simulated mass casualty incidents in public places.
The actors’ stage acting experience, ranging from Shakespeare to contemporary American theater, enables them to "stay in character" throughout an exercise, and improvise scenes of extreme stress while strictly following official exercise scenarios.
The actors regularly rehearse scenarios involving the Incident Command System and crisis communications, and appear in interactive training films produced in both 2D and stereoscopic 3D.
Producers Jennifer McCray Rincon and John Simmons formed the group to demonstrate emerging security technologies, help first responders visualize life-saving procedures, and assist trainers in delivering superior hands-on crisis response training.
For example, with a large shopping center, the producers review all security camera views and design dramatic scenes specifically for existing camera angles, robotic camera sweeps, and manually-controlled camera moves.
The producers then work with the trainers to create a "prompt book" for the actors so that key scenario developments can be triggered throughout the mall shooting simulation, and caught on tape.
The actors can play the part of the shooters, mall employees, shoppers in the mall, shoppers who continue to arrive at the mall, media reporters and others rushing to the mall, and persons in motor vehicles around the mall.
Visionbox Crisis Actors can also play the role of citizens calling 911 or mall management, or posting comments on social media websites.

The authorities are always so insistent about the need for secrecy about all these Seal Teams and special operations units, and yet they are always in the news. I don't get it.

To: CourageLovePeaceLive: Any number of folks in this world have numerous problems. This SEAL commander obviously had many issues that caused him to apparently kill himself. He could have taken someone with him, he could have been a mass shooter but no he chose to take only his life. Sure suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem but sometimes life overwhelms even the best in our society. So yes I"m assuming this Soldier was a good man with many scars and something in his life pushed him over the edge. At least he only took his own life. Rest in peace CMDR Price. I hope you find the peace and love in the next life that you could not find in this one.

If this is ruled a suicide, then this individual deserves no respect. When a person in the military commits suicide, he/she leaves his family (spouse & children) with nothing - no insurance, no benefits, NOTHING!!

Do not be fooled. The US is not leaving Afghanistan. We are withdrawing our "combat" troops. We will be leaving behind the "trainers" and the merc's. The latest reports have us committed to having US troops there till beyond 2020.

The vast majority of our diplomats and politicians including our commander in chief have never served but got their knowledge from a bunch of left wing Ivy League universities who hate the military and look at the common soldier as a stupid pawn. ie John Kerrys speech on either get an education or end up in Iraq or Afghanistan. The common soldier, marine, airman, sailor, etc. has more love of country, ethics, and common sense than any of the civilian A&&holes they work for who are mostly yellow cowards. My condolences to this mans family. This is what to expect when you fight a war for 10 years without letting the military win. Viet Nam all over again. Send the yellow diplomats and politicians and their families to fight these wars.

when the leader of a seal team commits suicide this tells me there is something wrong in our military. what drove him to this? or is suicide story a cover up because somebody in the obama administration leaked who he really was to the afghan terrorist? at any rate another american hero is gone. wasted in a country that hates us and only wants our money and the morons in washington keep sending it to them while our budget crashes.
We may never be told what really happened to him. Our government doesn't always tell the truth to us and other.
I'm sorry he died and I respect his service, but I'm sick of people being blasted for daring to have an opinion that doesn't unequivocally place every single member of the military on a pedestal. If someone disagrees or questions, suddenly they are unpatriotic or "scum" that should be grateful that this or that person fought and died for their unpopular opinion. So sorry for his family and friends, BUT what the hell is a person who is supposed to be a Commander doing committing suicide? Don't we have more mental tests out there to make sure that our troops are lead by competent people? Is this one 'THE GUNS' fault too? We definitely need to get ahold of the mental illness issues in this country and quit copping out............
