A police chase turned deadly on Christmas night in Pasadena, Calif., when an SUV being pursued collided with a minivan, killing a woman and an 11-year-old boy.
Police were attempting to stop the sport utility vehicle after it drove through a stop sign at a location that had been cordoned off by police investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday. Police had been looking out for a suspicious SUV leaving the murder scene.
After a short pursuit, the SUV crashed into the minivan, which was carrying four people, at about 8:45 p.m. The woman and boy died at the scene; the two other passengers were hospitalized.
The four people in the SUV were arrested and taken into police custody. It is unclear who was driving the vehicle.
"We're trying to make sure that if they're connected, we can put the dots together and arrest the right people," said Pasadena Police Deputy Chief Darryl Qualls.
Police identified those arrested as Demarius Hanna, 22, Brittany Washington, 21, Jada Mays, 18, and Darryl Williams, 22. Police told NBC4 that the suspects have not cooperated with the investigation.
Jail records show that Brittany Washington is being held on $1 million bail.

That's the kind of police chase they will never air on 'real-life video' shows -- which only run videos of chases that have a gay, happy ending in which innocent people never die or get seriously injured.
Huh? Are you making the cops out to be the bad guys in this case?
@ thepunisher - No, the cops aren't the bad guys. But the only chases that are shown on "reality TV" programs are the ones with a gay ending in which there are no injuries or deaths to innocent bystanders, or in which no cop dies (even though it is acceptable to such programming if a cop gets injuried because that type of risk is part of their profession).
You can find the videos you want to see, I'm sure, in the internet. Not everyone has the appetite to see death on t.v. like you do.
I'm wondering how a police chase has a "gay" ending?? I mean do the cops catch them and then have "gay" sex with them??
The cops aren't really the bad guys but this is generally what happens in police chases. It rare;y ends well and it's usually for some misdemeanor crap. Many departments have learned to back off, get a description and direction and not force the suspect into doing something more stupid or crazy. Obviously these cops here don't think that way. Now because they tried to chase someone for running a stop sign, 2 more people are dead. Police should not be giving chase for minor traffic violations.
@ Rob, "gay" once upon a time was a synonym for happy. Way to "gay" this place up.
chasing, at high speed, a vehicle that "runs a stop sign" ... and because of the chase, kills a mother and child are killed ...and you're not blaming the cops?
Missed the part about the vehicle being wanted in connection with a earlier fatal shooting? Or are you saying the police should not chase murder suspects?
You're assuming the two SUVs are one in the same. The article never stated that the SUV leaving the scene is the same as the one that was in the crash. Without a plate number, VIN or other identifying marks, currently there is nothing to substantiate that claim. SUVs are rather common vehicles and they never stated what the first or second SUV's make and model are. So assuming anything at this point is very premature.
Your are so right, Bear. The cops should not have been investigating a shooting with a suspicious SUV with the potential shooters inside. The cops should have just smiled, and waved them on through the cordoned off stop sign area. There are no such thing as criminals. Cops should just go away and let's just let everyone live free and do whatever the hell they want to do. Those pesky cops are a threat to society when they actually try to do their jobs.
/sarc off
People like you blame the POLICE and not the wretched VERMIN BEING CHASED who were possibly the perps to a crime they were investigating? How do people like you live with yourselves, blaming everyone else BUT the vermin of our society who deserve nothing but the public gallows with a short drop and a sudden stop.
@GBR - well it depends on the exact description that was given to them. Maybe the cops already know exactly what the suspect vehicle is but don't want to make that public knowledge that would jeopardize catching the perp. Maybe the witness said it was an older Dodge Durango (as seen in this picture) or a late model Cadillac Escalade.
Most people can tell what most "SUV" brands and variants are. Are you going to sit there and tell us that you can't tell the difference between a Chevy Tahoe and Toyota 4-Runner or a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Ford Explorer for example? Seriously?
I'm saddened at the loss of life here but when any of us go out of our homes we are putting ourselves at risk every time, car accidents, shootings, robbery etc and the list goes on.
The police were doing there jobs and in my opinion quite well, they were on the lookout for a SUV that matched the one they ended up going after and the criminals involved were suspected murders yet some people on the vine here seem to want the criminals to get the upper hand in all of this by the cops not chasing them! Jeez wake up, these lowlifes needed to be caught and yes the loss of life here is tragic to say the least and I do feel awful for them and there families but life isn't easy or guaranteed to be easy.
Now if we could just educate the criminals that crime of any sort doesn't pay then we might improve on our chances of being more safe when we all go out into the world to do our own things.
These lowlife criminals couldn't care one bit about you or me, all they care about is themselves and how much they can steal or take from all of us. They are and will continue to be "lowlifes" (for a lack of a better word here to use)
Thank you to all of the police officers that put there butts on the line everyday to do there best to keep us all safe. I realize that there are some police, cops that are not "good cops" but to place them all together is horrible. If the people on the vine here think you can do any better the police academy is looking for you!
Happy holidays everyone and my condolences to the family of the people who lost there lives due to the criminals being themselves!
Nope, they should not have run, the cops should not have chased. The whole lot of them share the guilt. These days cops have many ways to stop a vehicle and a chase is not one of them.
@jhawk:
Sir you must be a cop or a want to be one. And as far as the BS you wrote may i say that and three dollars will get you a beer at the bar. So now we have two people dead and they don't even know if it's the right SUV and i seen no were in this story if even was. And all so i never seen in this story that the one the cops chased my not have made a wrong turn and might of had some thing in there truck that they might not want found so that's why they ran. But according to you there VERMIN, wow what a pri-k and that might be stretching it no pun intended.
The police don't require a gun to perpetrate the killing of innocent victims.
What is more valuable? Two innocent lives or the chase of a suspected criminal? It seems law enforcement has chosen the chase.
the SUV in question broke several violations. The should have been pulled over. It was the decision of the SUV drive to not pull over for running a red light and/or any other moving violation... The police gave chase becaue there was a possible match to a earlier homicide in the same location.
rufnek2001: Given the information in the article, are you suggesting for the police not to give a F about the people murdered earlier in the day? Are you suggesting that police should not give chase to a SUV that fit a suspected vehicle from a homicide in the same location and the same day? And you believe it is wrong to follow up, because the SUV crashed into the Mini-Van because the SUV driver could not handle her vehicle? You're a pri-K, and absolutely no pun intended.
The details were a little better covered on the local news here in LA, the SUV matched the description of the murder suspect's and late word is they have the right person.
High speed chases are an almost daily occurrence here and the rules are pretty clear for the local PD. Traffic violators do not get chased, but this was a suspected murderer so the chase is definitely on with that. Sad fact, and a killer ends up killing even more.
Who was driving? Who the flip cares-- they were ALL driving. They are ALL guilty of murder-- guilty as sin. They ALL should be taken out to the forest and hung with short ropes from tall trees. That was Texas justice long ago.
Ban SUVs.

OOOPPS, now your a racist & a bigot. If you say anything about hanging, your a racist. Only blacks were ever hung. They did something else to whites(not sure what)
Bunch of stoned blacks running away from the cops like criminals and killing innocent people. Typical, even at Christmastime.
No, I very clearly stated that they never mentioned the make and model or discussed any identifying marks. So making inferences when you have little to no facts is unjust.
However, many automobiles from the same automaker, I.E. GM(Chevy/GMC), Ford(Ford/Lincoln) etc.... use the same chassis and have some basic body styling because they share molds, that in a poorly lit area could easily be confused with each other. Further, it's pretty easy for two Ford Explorers to be in the same parking lot at the same time. They are rather common vehicles.
What is WITH the constant need in our culture to blame other people?!?
The DRIVER was the one with his foot on the accelerator. The DRIVER had the choice to stop and obey the law. The DRIVER was the one who chose not to make those smart choices. With passengers in his vehicle, the DRIVER put their lives and his own at risk by fleeing. The DRIVER is responsible for killing two people and sending two others to the hospital!
PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY is the issue here. The police did what we pay them to do, and accidents happen.
"Oh, the police shouldn't have been pursuing someone who committed driving offenses." Well, that's fine, isn't it? And if they hadn't pulled over Timothy McVeigh for a driving offense, we'd have never caught the Oklahoma City Bomber. Even if they were not looking for an SUV specifically in this case, police were pursuing a potentially dangerous individual with no regard for traffic rules. Instead of getting into a car accident that resulted in two fatalities, it could have been five or six--it's the holidays, and an overloaded car with family members coming back from a relative's house is not uncommon.
For crying out loud, people! Put the blame on the OPERATOR OF THE VEHICLE where it belongs! Let's look at those who created the chaos to begin with as the problem, and not those trying to solve it!
First off I would like to offer condolences to the families of the innocent. This was a very unfortunate incident caused by those with little regard for human life.
Now, I would be the first one to chastise the cops if they did wrong but in this case they didn't and for those who are trying to blame the cops, you are in the wrong. I have no great love for cops and have had to butt heads with the local sherrif dept several times thru the years because of their over reach. Now this vehicle decided to run for a traffic violation and it was clear they had a lot more to hide from than a trffic ticket. To not chase them as some of you all suggest is to possibly let many others get killed in the future by these people. They clearly had no conscience for the safety of others and in fact according to the local news, are the ones who did the drive by shooting earlier. If not stopped, how many more drive bys and murders would they commit in the future. The occupants of the vehicle are nothing more than murderous thugs who wouldn't even take a day off on Christmas. Hopefully they will all get the death penalty for this or at the very least life without parole.
And like I said in the beginning. I would be the first to blame the cops if they did something wrong but in this case they didn't.
The idiot driver needs to be prosecuted for vehicular homicide, as do the others in the car; they should all be put away for a very long time.
ban the police.
@ muddiemike-- So according to your logic, the women and 11 yo is an acceptable loss because they decided to put their lives at risk for leaving the house? If that is the case, then those 27 kids and teachers who were shot and killed were acceptable losses because they put their lives at risk because they chose to leave the house. Indeed if you ever do anything outside your house and get killed,it is an acceptable loss.
@ davefromdanapointca-- NO the cops weren't directly at fault, but indirectly they were. Yes they might have been chasing a criminal, but how far did they chase them? Whats an acceptable distance before they decide it's too risky?
It only takes a block to accelerate up to 60 miles per hour. It takes a half-block for a speed of 30 mph to kill someone that is hit.
If the police had chased them for a block, apparently Blueknight believes that would've been too far.
THE FAULT IS WITH THE DRIVER WHO BROKE THE LAW THEN TRIED TO RUN FROM HIS RESPONSIBILITY TO STOP. NOT THE POLICE. For cryin' out loud, STOP blaming others for an individual's actions! We are each the masters of our destiny and we are the ones, single-handedly, outside of family influence and media influence and social influence, who choose what happens and how we are involved.
The suspected criminals would not have been running if the police were not chasing them.
Chasing a suspected criminal with a vehicle that has the potential to kill is NEVER worth the cost of innocent lives; unless of course, you do not value the human life.
Well that's where you're wrong, But how many car chases have you heard of only lasting 1 block? And yes I know that the driver of the suv is at fault. But it seems standupjokeoff thinks it is ok for the cops to chase criminals 5,10 miles or further to catch a criminal no matter who they put in danger.
Its time the police re-evaluate their chase policy. I want them to chase people when they have good reason to. I just dont want to see them taking a 1/2 hr doing it. In the past police would Pit maneuver the perp at the earliest possible moment. Now they wait till they run out of gas or patience and by then so many people have been exposed to the danger. We need to go back to the old way of doing it.
This is all being done so that when they get enough technology in place to push a button and stop a car they will tell us that in order to save lives we all have to put up with this one minor inconvenience. ALL cars with ONSTAR already have this in place. They can turn your car off anytime they want.
Deerhunter, please read a little history before you make a statement about any particular race and hanging. Up to, at least the early part of the 20th century, hanging was, more or less, and equal opportunity method of capital punishment.
I wonder how many of these people posting would still be defending the police if it was their wife, sister, or mother & son if it was theirs who were killed because the police was chasing suspects on a city street. Freeway pursuits & city limits are two different things. The police could have used helicopters to follow the vehicle without putting the public in danger.
The dogs driving the SUV and running were 100 percent responsible. They were suspects in a murder, and it seems they are the actual correct suspects, and they didnt care who else they killed. I dont stand up for cops in a lot of petty chases, but regardless, The responsible persons were the animals in the SUV. Not the cops doing what they were paid to do. Stinks to be an inocent bystander, but that still doesnt take the blame off the rabid dogs.
Cops are not supposed to initiate or continue a pursuit if the liklihood of harm to innocents outweighs the reason for the pursuit. If they did so in this case, then they are at fault.
We definately should get the Vise-President to look at the deadlyness of SUVs after he's done with guns. This just has to stop.
Rob68 is a good example of how the world has changed. Obviously you, Rob68, are very young and never watched ANY movie made before 1960. You believe gay only means homosexuals. Gay gay gay gay gay gay gay gay. YOU ARE GAY! Does that insult you or make you think I believe you are happy? What a screwed up world this is turning into. When words change their definition because someone doesn't like them. Gay used to mean happy. Now you can't even say it because a group of people feel insulted and threatened by it. USA FTW! I really think it's time for a world war that wipes out the majority of people. I'll gladly go to know the ones who have made everything an insult to someone else go with me.
And how many of you would be chastising the police for letting them go if it was one of your loved ones that they shot in a drive by? You can't have it both ways. In this incident the cops were in the right and unfortunately a necessary evil.
Fag used to be cigarette in the UK. How many other words can you no longer say because someone is insulted? Can you even say Merry Christmas? It's ok for cops to kill children chasing a SUV but it's reason to ban guns if someone else does more directly? You are all the same in your thinking. Why should a cop have a gun but a law abiding citizen cannot? When the cop retires can he still have guns? WTF are you people thinking? Why do you say LGBT, but gay, fag or tranny is bad? Or how bout the n word. Jessie Jackson can call our president the n word but no white person can? This is 1984 come to life. Where language is reduced to a few words and no one can mean anything outside what is accepted. I hope you are all happy with the way things have progressed.
maybe a tough call to make for police, whether as to pursuit in moderate to high traffic. But why is it necessary really, when the radio is much faster than any evasive perpetrator? Why endanger other lives when a trap or roadblock can be set? I would hate to venture how much LA will be paying the victim's survivors in legal actions.
There never seems to be any lack of pinche Monday-AM Quarterbacks on planet earth AFTER the dust has settled, that's for damn sure. BAN SUV's & BAN DA POOOOOO-LICE I guess, that should fix everything quite nicely.
There is a family somewhere that has been changed forever. The really f'd up part is that the driver/passengers in the SUV are probably sitting in jail someplace talking to a public defender that you and I are paying for. The public defender will make sure that their rights are not violated and they are getting the proper medical attention for the injurys they sustained in the accident they caused. And yes, you and I are paying for that medical attention. The next step for them will be to try to sue the police for "causing" the accident. You and I will have to pay the bills as it goes through the court system. The worst that will happen to the driver of the SUV will be a few years in a nice warm prison with three well balanced meals a day at the taxpayers expense. I will highly doubt that the driver of the SUV pay one nickel out of his/her own pocket for anything.
When I read the headline, I thought, California. Glad to see I was correct.
Wink, wink!! Sure, what else would they say? But, if these particular people in the SUV are not the shooters, I'm sure the cops will try their best to pin it on them.
DT, didn't you leave out something? It seems all your "taxpayer" comments have been going on for a 100+ years, or, are you trying to say this is something new?
Pig's at best...should be the name of the show...
Uh Joe and GBH...Yeah I know wtf it means....So please geniuses tell me how he meant it?? You two are such dorks...Guess you're too old to understand sarcasm??
If the occupants of the SUV were innocent, they would not have bolted over a stop sign violation. I think the police were right to chase them, although i grieve for the family that was collateral damage.
@ rob68 - You should check the dictionary. Gay as an adjective has more general senses that don't signify 'homosexual', just like black as an adjective has more general senses that don't signify 'African descent'.
Another example of how the media concentrates on stories with a gay ending: that rather famous video of people surviving a tornado by grabbing on under a bridge. That had a gay, happy ending where nobody got hurt -- though society has subsequently been taught that with more serious (non-gay) tornadoes, people who do that have copycatted that video and ended up dying.
I'll bet the people who were murdered were probably low-life adversaries of the people in the SUV. A lot of murders are criminal on criminal. Police chases like this one don't need to happen for the very reason brought out in the story - innocent bystanders die. Way to go Team America! There are other ways to apprehend criminals.
I sure wouldn't want most of you bloggers protecting me. Get the bad guys! Hey if some innocent people get killed well sorry. What a bunch of morons.
I'm sure the families of those killed would much rather have their family members back than your grievance. How sad life has become so worthless to some.
yes see through...But can you tell me how you meant it?
@ Rob68 - I am using the term gay in its TRADITIONAL senses of 'frivolous, lighthearted & happy'.
TWO WRONGS DON'T MAKE A RIGHT!!! sounds like these were kids...kids do dumb things! what is the trained police officers EXCUSE??? many states have outlawed police pursuits!!! we have helicopters, cameras (everywhere), police dash cams, & drones. i think the problem is cops watch to many fictional police shows where there is ALWAYS a high-speed chase! AND there is ALWAYS a shoot-out. White people are so pathetic...and complacent! when someone gets pulled over in your neighborhood you shut the curtains and turn up the TV. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT COLOR YOU ARE: get pulled over in a black neighborhood and you have everybody backing you up with video cameras!!!
Open: I thought all were over 21 in the SUV. NOT kids. Too bad the 4 of them weren't the fatality.
Demarius? Jada? Hmmm....
All four in the SUV sound like suspicious characters who would be the murdering type and easily tied to a murder.
Could not agree more. LA - been there done that. Place sucks but the point is they should ban high-speed chases. They kill people. If we can save one person is it not worth it? There are more than enough bad guys in LA that get away with all they want. They don't have the room to even jail them.
So just let 'em all go. It will save lives.
Seems like crime would be on the rise if the cops were not allowed to chase anybody.
Just pointing out the article doesn't say it was high speed. Maybe it was but there's nothing in this article to indicate that. Just says it was a short pursuit.
So bpac...There was a report of a suspicious SUV related to a killing, and then when trying to stop the SUV it took of making the police believe it had something to do with the killing...So stopping them may very well have saved another life....
But in your world just let murderes go...it'll save lives.....
Uh, you seem to be forgetting about the 2 dead and 2 injured for no reason other than chasing SUSPECTED murderers---so if they had been shot by the suspected murderers are they more dead than when hit by the vehicle eluding a chase? Logic, please?
It doesn't say they ran a stop sign. It SAYS they ran a stop sign that was cordoned off as part of a crime scene where a shooting had taken place and a SUV was seen leaving the scene of the shooting and the vehicle that ran the stop sign was a SUV.
A simplier solution would be having all cars being able to be shut off by the police by remote control. The technology exists already. But people object to that. The same goes for black boxes for all new cars. Although some of that technology already is in cars.
That is still running a stop sign. It doesn't matter if it was cordoned off or not, you still follow traffic laws. These people in the SUV ran the stop sign and slammed into the other vehicle.
As far as a high speed chase goes, there is no mention of high speeds being attained while police were in pursuit. And looking at the damage done to the vehicles, the SUV should have caused more damage to both vehicles if it was going at high speeds.
Let's blame the people that were driving the SUV, for God's sake. I am so freaking tired of excuses being made for every crime happening today. The jerks driving the SUV could have saved lives by STOPPING when the cops attempted to pull them over. That's kind of what you are supposed to do....but I am SURE these poor, misunderstood young people were just being PICKED ON, by the awful, horrible police officers. Christ, give me a break...
Unfortunately, a great number of police 'chases' that end tragically involve little more than a police officer flipping on the light bar of his or her patrol car only to watch the vehicle they're signaling to pull over rapidly scoot away. Quite often, the sudden ending is only a very short time and distance later when the panicked driver (who is usually guilty of something and has no intention of getting arrested for it) collides with something - or someone - they could have easily avoided at lower speeds and when they weren't driving with one eye on the rear view mirror.
HHHMMMM so a lot of you are saying someone who runs from a squad car with lights and siren should be told it's ok you are above the law and we will excuse from breaking the law no matter what you have done or whatever reason you ran for so you can commit whatever crime cause if you run it's ok.
those jerks all of them should be tried for murder driver and passengers
I know losing someone f**ing hurts but do you really want a possible a$$ with a gun running around shooting and get away with it to do it again cause they can't be chased if they run all gangbangers etc will be giving high fives all around run and you can do what the heck ever you want
You can't just let them go, and like TiGor says these are often barely even 'chases', the cop turns on his lights, the perp floors it and doesn't realize he doesn't know how to drive that way until he hits someone else. Hard.
Many bad collisions but often no deaths so you never hear about those.
Who gives a $#!T whether these 4 were involved in the first murder, they are guilty of killing these 2 innocent people for certain! Lock them up and throw away the key. Life for a life. They are the ones who chose to run from the police. I think if you run from the police you should get shot. Not a slap on the wrist, (when obviously, if you run from authority you must have a reason, even if it's not the one the police are looking for) especially after taking innocent lives in the midst of your irrational, irresponsible behavior!
You dont know how bad it will get once the perps know they are not going to be chased. This place of ours will turn into Tijuana!!!
Lock up everyone because the driver ran? wtf...
I'm just curious to see if they ever come out with the facts on the people in the SUV. Were the people in the SUV involved in the shooting or not. They are for sure guilty of vehicular homicide, I wonder about the other one
Ban all SUV's!!
those 4 names sound darker than wesley snipes driving a car with tinted windows. now thats dark.
Racist much? Who gives a crap how dark those four are? They killed two innocent people. I wouldn't care if they are purple so long as they are tried and convicted of homicide.
good call............
Uncle henry, back from the aryan nation family christmas vacation so soon?
Isn't he just making a comment about their names, not the crime itself?
The name Brittany makes me think of bleach-blonde bimbos. My apologies to all of the Brittany's who do not have the last name Spears.
And my apologies to all those who don't realize the celebrity's name is spelled:
"Britney Spears".
Whether it is spelled Britney or Brittany it still conjures up a washed up, has-been in my mind. The same name can be spelled multiple ways.
Yup, can't really misspell a name if you spell it the way the owner intends it.
You can choose to spell your own name any way you like and that way is 'right' for your name.
What a hell of a Christmas present for the family of the woman and child. My condolences to their family(ies). All four in the SUV should be charged with first degree murder.
Hard prison time for all four.
I know this will sound like I am being a jerk, but trust me - I believe these four should rot, but....
First Degree Murder? No. There was no pre-meditated intent to kill someone by any of them. The three passengers will walk. The driver will get involuntary vehicular manslaughter and do on average 64 months (with probation available after 32 months depending on past criminal record and if the driver was under the influence of any alcohol or narcotics).
It sucks, it is not fair, but that is what will be the outcome.
Michael, while I agree with your prognosis of our neutered justice system, if I were the victims family their release would be met with me awaiting them so that we could take a nice ride to the nearest drop off (Cliff). Too often we allow scumbags like this to take advantage of the justice system and pay little to no consequences. I am a firm believer in vigilante justice and more people in our society are starting to look at things that way, especially when they come to the realization that criminals have had the upper hand and ultimately bend all of us taxpayers over along with the families of their victims.
Locking up all 4 at taxpayer expense?
Yeah, that makes total sense.
The driver is at fault. The passengers were accessory - at BEST.
However, they should all be fined - have their wages seized for the rest of their lives as reparations to the victim's family, and the justice system, to cover the cost of their trials and incarceration.
Time to get our money back, folks. We can't get the lives back in such tragedies. These kids are young enough to pay the price.
Charge them with murder 1 and they will be found not guilty. This (the two fatalities in the minivan) should be a manslaughter charge (two charges actually).
IMO it was irresponsible for police to continue high-speed pursuit of this vehicle in this area. They sound all badass with their "we'll connect the dots" comments, but in the meantime a woman and a child are being laid to rest, at the wreckless hands of people that, from what it sounds like in the article, would have been caught and charged anyway for the crimes they were in the process of investigating.
Why would the passengers be guilty of anything? They weren't driving or in control of the vehicle. You're all crazy. The driver is the only guilty party from the vehicle who ran from the police. The cops are responsible for killing the woman and her kid, the cops were driving recklessly, they showed poor judgement. Wait and see if their families don't win a big law suit.
peteMT - Wish that made sense, but you can't 'seize their wages'. If they work and all of their money goes elsewhere they will just quit their job and work under the table.
Like millions of dead beat dads do every single day.
How about some rational ideas?
I suspect they probably all will be charged to varying degrees with the murder of this family as well as whoever they were being chased for killing in the first place.
More than likely it's going to be a gang-related killing first, with the woman and boy being collateral damage to them when the chase went down.
No, I don't know anymore about it than whats in the story. Just a gut feeling.
Good thing they weren't illegals. Then the great state of California would have given them a new beach front home, free college education, and a therapist to treat their PTSD. But since they probably aren't then they will still get all these gifts but in a much more cramped location.
I'm so happy that you experience cognitive dissonance in very public ways. Are you still worrying about them injuns sneaking up on you to scalp you?
I hope someone in that SUV had something to do with the murder. If not, the cops should have backed off again and quit putting the public in danger of chases. And if the 4 in the SUV had nothing to do with the murder, now they should be charged with the deaths of the woman and child. Unbelievable tragedy at X-mas time for the rest of the deceased family. For the 4 in the SUV, no sympathy because you should have immediately pulled over. Now you will get what you deserve, prison food and cramped cells.
Why should you blame the cops for doing their jobs? Any of you cop haters out there think that maybe, just maybe you should blame the idiotic moron that ran from the cops and caused this horrific accident? If that jackwagon that was driving the vehicle had not tried to run, no one would have been killed! They need to put the driver of the vehicle in prison for life without parole! Better yet, kill the S.O.B.! As for those of you that want to blame the cops for this tragedy, you need to be put right there with the driver! So many of you want to blame the cops for doing their jobs and you apparently want to kiss the a$$ of the criminals, maybe you should sit in prison with them and stick your heads up their a$$es!
Continuing a high-speed chase through neighborhoods with people they may well have been charging with another crime is highly irresponsible behavior. And in this case, it resulted in two deaths. No one is a "cop hater" for having that opinion; some feel that police are also responsible for maintaining public safety, and that was greatly compromised in this instance. Now a woman and a child are dead, on Christmas night, and families who should be celebrating are grieving instead.
As for your feeling that anyone with an opinion different than yours should be put in prison alongside the felonious driver of the SUV... gee what an intolerant, hateful bastard you are. Merry Christmas, jackass.
It's clear to me if the Federal Govt were to outlaw all cars this would have never happened. There are laws to keep things like this from happening so why do they? Govt run busses and train service is obviously the answer.
Car control is a joke in this country, people drive without licenses, tags, and with license plate lights not working.
It's obvious that it's time for the Govt to step in and put an end to all this killing.
It's unclear to me why people run from the police when it's clearly against the law.
Background checks and waiting periods for driving an SUV may have prevented this tragedy.
Don't forget the banning of High Capacity SUV's. Two seaters are OK but the high capacity just causes more death, madness & mayhem. Close all Car Show Loop Holes.
"car show loop holes."
LOL!
Genius.
Thank you.. I was thinking how the tone of the conversation would change if they replaced "SUV" with "gun. In this case it was a bad guy driving an "SUV" not a gun with a bad guy attached to it. I feel for all the victims but we as a society need to place the responsibility appropriately. SUV's are as deadly as guns in the wrong hands.
Same deal with these "high velocity" cars. Nobody needs to go faster than the speed limit. Come to think of it, no vehicles should go faster than 25 mph, that would save a lot of lives. So let's make the new speed limit 25 mph, and stop the sale and manufacture of cars that go faster than 25 mph. Only the police and emergency vehicles need to go faster.
Car control now!
the cops are getting completely out of hand. in seattle, they're shooting at anything that moves. time to reign these renegades in and make them responsible for damages...
This is what you all have created. The death of the innocent through arbitrary laws and supposed "protection" thank god for the police' smh smh smh
Maybe the cops should do like the military does over in afganistan. If a vehicle doesn't stop when told to you shoot the hell out of them..They'll sure stop then..
They can also just line up the dots and eliminate the need for any arrests.
they should have never went through the stop sign in the first place but I wonder if they were involved in the first crime what were they doing there anyway. A taped off area sounds to me that the cops must have been there before the crime or after they got the call got at the sight roped it off started an investigation and still had time for a chase. Maybe it's a criminal always returns to the scene of the crime thing. I don't know why they ran but I would really like to know if that was the SUV in question
Lets ban cars, specifically suv's and the police car. That is what killed these innocent people. At least noone is blaming the NRA for this one.
Please, allow me to blame the NRA for being dirtbags in public, that's worthy of daily blame for damn near anything.
..and Bush, too.
Yes ban the cars! Not the drivers fault that the cars killed people.
Cops don't kill people, and people don't kill people. It was all the SUV's fault. Lets ban all SUV's!
You are right. The problem is high performance military type vehicles with their high capacity interiors. When will this madness stop?
Clearly it was the inhibited vision from the tinted windows. Ban windows and vision!!
Some (many?) districts have regulations in place about vehicle chases. But even still, the worst will sometimes happen. Unless the police were being reckless, chasing at high speeds and such, I've no reason to blame them at all. The blame belongs on the people they're chasing who refuse to stop.
There should be protocal activated when there is a chase. Otherwise sh_T like this happens and completely innocent people...become victims. Now their families have to bury them and go on with life. That STINKS!
I wonder how many people were watcing on their TV, how many media outlets were hyping the chase, whether or not the cops followed their procedures!
As for the perps, if they were all somehow involved in the murder, then hangem all!
Gang bangers. Just execute them and get it over with. If we executed ALL gang bangers who caused death...in any way, shootings, drugs, beatings...anything...we soon would be rid of the gang problem. and a whole host of other problems as well. The only good gang banger is a dead gang banger!
(And I REALLY do not care what color they are...one is as bad as another. Kill them ALL!)
You'd run out of cops first.
I'm sure the police are hurting bad, Demarius and Brittany are thinking about themselves, not cooperating after they caused the chase.
Again, another NBC news story with sketchy details and somewhat ambiguous facts. IMO, the chase should have been called off when it was apparent that civilians could be harmed by a speeding car. Was it worth two lives?
Yes, the police policy of chase is wrong and deadly. For all "people" who think it's perfectly fine for the police to chase people at high speeds through city streets, let your family be the one one time, and you hopefully would feel differently.
An innocent mom, 22 and an 11 year old boy are dead, never to realized their dreams or life. Was this a robbery with a hostage, no. Good red-neck types, give the police who have killed hundreds of innocent people the power to do high speed chases in disregard of innocent human life, throw 4 people in prison for the rest of their lives, say adios to the 2 dead, none of you know them and call it a day. We have 4 people caught, what a bs "success".
Now if it was the mayor and the police chief, the story would probably read a lot different, especially if these type of people were affected time after time. The policy would change soon enough.
These are probably the people wanted for murder. You don't think it's important to catch these people?
The police didn't cause this, the bad guys did. If the police don't chase bad people, then all everyone would have to do is drive off at over 100 mph, and you're guaranteed to be let go because the police have to stop chasing? That's not a good policy either.
I think everyone agrees, the tragedy is the innocent people getting killed, and the two that got hurt.
If the police let them go who would be blamed when these idiots run more stops signs on their own and kill someone. Yep, the police, dam if they do and dam if they don't.
It's terrible innocent people died in this, but (without knowing the exact specifics of this chase), the police can't be letting people go just because they don't want to stop. The people responsible for the deaths are the bad guys being chased, not the cops.
I know the cops have procedures in place about stopping a chase when things get too crazy, as they don't want innocent people to get hurt, and hopefully they can catch the bad guys later. Who knows if they had time to do this or what happened. But no matter what - it isn't the cops fault. The person driving the car should be put in prison for murder. From the way it sounds - I'd be happy if all 4 of these people just got the death penalty. We really don't need people like this on the planet messing it all up for the rest of us.
T.N.D.
See cars kill people. Lets outlaw all automobiles. Get on this Band Wagon, tell the news Papers, Radio, TV,You see how autos KILL.
Your right it is not the person it is aaa.
Are you guys recovering from head trauma?
