Police are looking for a woman who was seen mumbling to herself before she allegedly pushed an unsuspecting man to his death in front of an oncoming No. 7 train at a Queens subway station Thursday evening, police said.
The man was standing on the northbound platform of the 40th Street and Queens Boulevard elevated train when police say the woman walked up behind him and pushed him onto the tracks. Witnesses told police the man had his back to the woman and didn't appear to notice her. No words were exchanged.
The man died at the scene. His identity has not been released.
Witnesses told police the female suspect had been walking back and forth on the platform and talking to herself before sitting down, alone, on a wooden bench near the north end of the walkway. When the train pulled into the station shortly after 8 p.m., the woman got up off the bench and pushed the man, according to witness statements.
The suspect then fled the platform, running down a flight of stairs to the turnstile area and down a second flight to Queens Boulevard. It's unknown where she went from there. Police released surveillance video of her running onto the street.
The suspect is described as being a heavyset woman about 5 feet 5 inches tall with brown or blond hair. She was wearing a white and gray ski jacket and Nike sneakers at the time of the incident.
It is the second time this month that a person has been shoved onto subway train tracks and killed.
Naeem Davis, a 30-year-old deli worker, was recently arrested and charged with second-degree murder for allegedly pushing a man off a midtown subway platform to his death.
Ki-Suk Han, 58, was stuck by a southbound Q train after being pushed off the platform at the 49th Street station in Manhattan Dec. 3.

you can kill people without a gun? whaaaaaaaaaaaaa?
We should close all the subways! They are becoming too dangerous and we must do something!
Bet she couldn't push 26 people to there death so easy..
26 people would take almost a week. But I bet she could beat that number before she was caught if she put her mind to it.
Thomas, try 'their'. They made spell check just for the graduates of the new American education system.
What the hell is going on, people pushing people onto railroad tracks, in front of trains, setting a homeless person on fire in Ca. another one in Miami a couple of days ago. These stories would make national headlines without the internet. These things still happened before the internet, but the frequency is just incredible, the mass murders(no I am not for banning guns), setting traps to murder firefighters. Sadistic savage things have always happened, it is the nature of mankind, but this used to be unusual, now it is commonplace. What is going on? What is causing the loss of civility, mental health is an issue, but the institutions have been closed for years, what is causing this spike?
@Antistupidity - selfishness.....
Social rage, like "road rage"; occurs when people feel they are at their limit of endurance.
They strikeout at any and all things annoying; i.e. other people.
Really mature. How about stay on topic..
Americans are a violent ugly people. When not killing each other with guns and knives, they resort to creative means, including pushing travellers into the path of trains.
And yet, Americans arrogantly voice criticism of the violence in other nations including their 'human rights' violation. People who live in glass houses should not .......................
This is what happens when you have semi-automatic subway trains.....want to cure obesity ban subways and make everybody walk ! no exercise is the real killer of all americans !!!!
What idiotic comments.
So you're using this case to make a pro-gun statement? That says it all.
Right, WallSt, violence doesn't happen in other countries, just America. Women aren't raped on public buses in India, genocide doesn't happen in Rwanda, civilians aren't dying in Middle Eastern rebellions, a mad man with a knife didn't attack 12 people in China, only Americans are violent ugly people. Go live in Syria for a while and let us know how things go for you.
good call rob
Background checks before you can ride the subway! Get on it, Obama.
Some people do not value anybodies life. They value theirs probably to a lesser value, but consider their feelings to be supreme above everything. They'll ruin you and themselves in a heart-beat..
If we don't educate the ignorant that kill, we'll never grow as a society.
Education can stop much of the killing. If we educate people to be normal, accepting and decent people with manners, we'll see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Yes of course. Trains don't kill people. People kill people. Only that one can't push 26 people in front of a train in 2-3 minutes.
Since the conversation went immediately to guns.....
It's two days after Christmas and the NRA's Wayne LaPierre is STILL the anti-Christ.
Happy New Year!
NSA: National Subway Association.
How very tragic for this poor man, who lost his life. I pray he is at peace. May his family and those who loved and cared about him, get all the support, much needed help they must have in dealing with such a senseless murder. I hope the police are able to find the woman responsible quickly and she is held accountable for her cruel and heartless actions.
So the message is sent out, loud and clear. That those who resort to these types of violence and killings are going to pay with the full weight of the law. Their lives are forfeit.
For those who had to witness her actions, I hope they are able to get through this horrific event, including the subway operator. As the last operator was so devastated from the male victim who died. It is obvious seeing such a death can be life altering for witnesses.
Concerning anything which the subways themselves can do to prevent such incidents from happening, it is doubtful much can be done. Only that people become more aware of what is happening around them. Giving plenty of room between themselves, incoming trains and being aware of people around them.
We can get so caught up in trying to rush to be first on and off mass transit. Perhaps we need to be less caught up in our own world, and more in contact with what is going on in the world around us. We could even save a life by doing so some day.
In Japan, they have 4 foot high barriers to prevent accidental fallings, pushings, or suicides. Once the train comes to a complete stop, they barrier doors open.
Installing such a system is expensive, but it looks like NY needs it.
Someone above asked what is going on with all this horrific murders in #1.5....so I will answer....
You have 130 million more people in America, then in 1960, for starters. Then you have parents who tell there children everyone's a winner, even if your last, you are just the last winner.
Then you have current Media in America glorifying GUNS, VIOLENCE AND SEX and literally amplifying complete debauchery, murder and greed at every turn.
Then you add in American corporations and Americas INDUSTRIAL military complex society and viola...you get a ton of violence, crime and general humanity at it's worst.
It is called BULLSHlT ...so just write it off as BULLSHlT.... because guess what...there is NO ANSWER to give you...because seriously everyone knows it is BULLSHlT
You know whats really BULLSHlT? ...... some lawyer will make money off this no matter what. Oh, and before its over, god (more BULLSHlT) will some how work its way into this whole situation.
Oh and do not get me started about politics and guns....because I got a LINE of BULLSHlT for that....
stay tuned for more BULLSHlT in America...
Wallstreet"fat"cat
I love it when people come on here and try to throw us Americans under the bus. The part that confuses me is, even though most foreigners hate Americans, they still try to come and live here sometimes even at the cost of their life savings. Heh heh...
People who live in glass houses, should not turn on the lights at night.
Shosyn,
C'mon, that's total "BULL@!$%#" man! :-)
Well, will you listen to the gun nuts trying to prove that you can kill 26 people in under two minutes by pushing them onto the subway tracks. The NRA stupidity knows no bounds.
WallStFatCat wrote:
Blanket statements don't work in any country. With 315 million people in the U.S., there are going to be acts of violence of varying degree, every single day. If all Americans were as violent as these news stories portray though, (and as your statement implies), we'd have killed ourselves off long ago.
One other thing to keep in mind: the U.S. is made up of immigrants from countries around the world. So there is no such thing as an "American," unless you happen to be a Native American.
Best to get away from your computer and go outside. Good people outnumber the bad by a long shot... in any country.

There will always be some jerk on here trying to make others look stupid. They're the ones that look dumb. Don't even waste your time on that pile of poo-poo.
gm Creek Dog, jack
It's not the subway's fault, even though this is the second subway-related killing in a month. I recommend immediate incarceration of everyone who mumbles ...... including my in-laws.
Good morning CD, Jack, DB -
Americans are violent and ugly??
Excuse me, folks, this woman was a homeless Hispanic... a fact conveniently left of the article by NBC.
Armchair detective here. If the woman was crazy why did she run away immediately. Maybe, just maybe now, the woman was waiting for that particular man to come and was pretending to be crazy by pacing around mumbling. She obviously knew what she did was wrong. It just strikes me that she was mumbling and pacing, pushed the man, then ran away as fast as she could. I believe there will be some sort of connection between him and her that surfaces eventually. Whether it be that he didn't put change in her cup the day before or otherwise. I just don't think it was totally random.
Chriswanker 1.21. Crazy people are copy catting this most gruesome murder method. That's the idea I was going to say we need. Stimulus jobs anyone ? Now hiring to retrofit our subway stations with safety fences and rails. May as well get to it.
gm mimi,
Thanks for the clarification.
Yes, it's called mumbling. It's just as lethal.
Now we need an organization like the NRA to protect the rights of mumblers to speak to themselves in public.
Any woman mumbling to herself is a huge risk to society...
They should ban all subway trains,....make a 10 day waiting period on "shoves" and arrest anyone under suspicion of mumbling!......
mimi, This woman has not yet been caught so it is mere speculation that she is homeless. What does that have to do with her act of murder?
@NB820-001
You are correct, I got her story mixed up with another one. It was not stated that she was homeless, but that she was Hispanic, sitting on the bench, mumbling, and jumped up and pushed the man and ran off.
About an hour later, another commuter prevented someone from jumping in front of a train.
Things are getting crazy all over.
I was just wondering why, in their description, NBC left out that the woman was Hispanic.
GM Denver Bill, Mimi et alia!
Good news is there is no subway system here in Barbados, so I do not need to check "my six"! However, there are some homeless, less than cognizant folks walking around the island daily.
This was the second subway death, what, this year? Meanwhile, a gunman shot and killed 26 people (20 of them KIDS) in ONE day with an assault rifle.
Yeah, guns need to go. We need a ban. Start with the assault rifles first then work our way down to pistols and revolvers. Gun owners WILL give up their guns. Whether voluntarily or by force.
People in this country quickly follow bad ideas, now the subway is a very dangerous place. Al-Qaeda is not making me nervous anymore, I have to look out not only for Middle Easterners or Muslims.
Jack, all you need to do is check your 12. Too make sure there are no clouds preventing a good tanning.
Because that wouldn't fit in with their anti-white racist agenda!
Gosh, I never heard of a subway train going to the movie theater or to a school full of kindergartners and first graders and running/gunning down everyone in sight. Please enlighten me if I am wrong.
The common theme is mental health. Lanza, Davis and presumably this woman were all mentally ill. What America needs is a better healthcare system that lets people get the care they need, instead of falling through the cracks. I guess it shouldn't be surprising that both the US and China appear to be having problems with psychopathy, since they both have among the worst rates of access to healthcare.
But.. no.. we're all more worried that big bad Vladi Putin won't let us adopt cute 'lil Russian babies than we are about whether 'lil Boris will have a doctor to go see.
Priorities folks, priorities.
CaliforniaFirst, you are right on all counts, however this looks like a hit to me.
Too bad he didn't pack a gun to defend himself.
See that's common sense. And its the kind of thinking that we need in Congress. But people vote for popularity not clarity in thinking.
I mumble to myself, I admit, but I generally confine this bad habit to when I am alone and there is no one in sight to see it. But it's not mumbling, its thought processing. But I normally consider this to be rude to be done in public when not speaking to another person.
It's a good sign that one should walk in the other direction from the person engaged in self dialogue when done in public.
Wonder if she knew this guy from before. Can't they figure something out to make it more difficult to jump or be pushed onto a subway track? I've never seen a subway in person, so I have no idea if there is anything to be done, as far as safety is concerned.
Jenny Wernerr, it has already been proven that guns of all kinds are easier to obtain than it is to get mental health in this "free" country! Mental health is not a priority over gun ownership. I think gun owners should pay a fee every year which goes 100% toward mental health in this country.
No one is trying to take away anyone's 2nd Amendment right in this country, as the far right seem to have a paranoid sense. It is the kinds of guns that are available and who has the ability to get the guns. Most often it is mental health that causes many problems out there in our society but mental health is not available because it is more important for FREEDOM to own a gun!! Let's change our focus to fix the problem by providing the necessary health care then worry about who gets to own what kind of gun and ammunition!! It's called COMMON SENSE!!
Lol Why on earth should gun owners have to do that? That makes no sense whatsoever. Gun owners don't make people have mental health problems. Please argue your point I'd love to hear your reasoning.
Wow, someone finally mentioned Mental health. I think we the people should be screaming, demanding Mental Health Care services. The mentally ill man who gunned down 26 kids needed confinement/ treatment. The young man who stabbed his Mom with a sword was under going a mental evaluation. He obviously needed inpatient treatment. Where is that available ? It's not. The Government of our great country released all those poor mentally ill people being kept against their will and being forced to take anti psychotic medications against their will. Put em right out in the street. No help. We must stand up for those who can't.
It's available anywhere. The problem is people who don't work in the mental health field don't always recognize behavioral changes that would warrant someone needing inpatient treatment.
Any adult can request through proper channels that someone be evaluated if they suspect that the person needs treatment.
There's nothing wrong with mumbling. If people want to mumble they should be allowed to. Killing people is the problem, not mumbling.
The other problem is that the people experiencing problems unless they have worked in the mental health field don't recognize within themselves the need for treatment or where to get help when they start experiencing trouble that is something they have never experienced before.
Yeah but not 26 in a couple of minutes.
A very inefficent way of doing it. One push at a time. (sarcasm)
ga jack,
On the other hand, not many New Yorkers have to worry about stepping on a dead blowfish.
Barriers...
Execute the culprit on national television first... that would be ALLOT cheaper and IMHO the RIGHT thing to do... Justice and Deterrence all in one fell swoop.
I'd buy that for a dollar!
Of course, that assumes that the suspect in this case is OK mentally. Deterrence doesn't work with people who are mentally impaired.
We need to find that woman and push her into a path of a subway train. Make the punishment fit the crime and see the crime dwindle.
It would likely deter others. And it would most definitely prevent her from committing any future acts of violence.
Oh wait! It wouldn't work after all. People aren't responsible for their actions, it's the inanimate objects that are to blame!
If you look back at the history of people being deliberately pushed onto subway tracks, I doubt that you will find many, if any, that were committed by people in full command of their mental faculties. So, executing this woman is unlikely to deter future shovings.
Im actually questioning whether this person's motive really was a mental illness. She must have known what she did to be seen running from the scene. That shows enough cognitive realization that she knew she was doing something wrong.
I'm in with the commentor that suggested a hit. Not a mob hit, but maybe this guy did know the assailant. Maybe they had some sort of prior history. It will be impossible to know until the woman is caught, however, it might be a bigger jump than it seems to assume she was ill because she mumbled.
Common sense don't stand close to the edge of the platform. It's way cheaper.
Elevated high speed rail...
Transporter beams...
We need tighter control of subway stations. There should be a registration process, fingerprinting, sign in at the station and solid walls stopping access to the tracks until a train was at the station and stopped.
Ban Life !!!!!!
Why isn't there some kind of barrier to prevent people from falling onto the tracks?
Have you ridden a subway before? You have to get on the train and it doesn't stop at the same place every time.
Actually have been on a subway before, how about barricades with rolling pocket gates that only open when the train is stopped in the station. Setback say 5 feet from the edge of the platform, 15 foot pocket gates on each side creating 30 foot openings. Many logistics to figure out but do-able, and a job creator.
It's the subway - just like trains everywhere - there are no barriers. People rely on other people to be somewhat civil, but that is clearly changing. We really just live in a very sick society which is numbed to the value of life.
In Paris and many cities in China, they DO have barriers. There are sliding doors that open in the barrier once the train stops. It's a very good idea.
The Atlanta airport has what they call a "people mover" and it looks a lot like a subway to me. The tracks are completely walled off, though. Passengers gain access through large sliding doors, which open after the train has come to a stop. It always stops in the same place, of course. Hard to believe that with a little engineering and money (okay, maybe a lot of money), NY's subway can't be retrofitted with something similar.
Hmm .. that would be a total of 10 feet for a platform that has tracks on either side. In some stations, if not many, that would wall off more than half of a platform that is already crowded during rush hour.
The problem with trying to retrofit the NY subway is that was the country's first subway and is over 100 years old. It doesn't have the luxury of wide platforms and precise engineering controls designed into the Atlanta airport. Trying to make such drastic changes would be VERY, VERY expensive, not only for the subway, but the disruptions involved would be costly to the city's economy.
If, by some miracle, there happened to be a few billion dollars lying around, the next question that we'd have to ask is whether adding barriers would be the best use of the money. There are probably other places where spending billions of dollars would save more lives. This is not a world of unlimited resources, and the money should be spent where it does the most good.
5 feet is an arbitrary number that could be changed according to space availability, just a thought I threw out there not saying it is perfect nor set in stone, but if something is to be done we need to start somewhere.
Kevin,
"Why isn't there some kind of barrier to prevent people from falling onto the tracks?"
That's a good question. Maybe there should be one, but there isn't. I showed up at the subway station in Falls Church, Virginia, one day to take the train into Washington DC. Unfortunately, I got there just shortly after a man had fallen, jumped or been pushed in front of the train. It was a mess. I could still see the gore on the tracks and the concrete wall around them. I was haunted by that sight for days after that. So I can sympathize with this man.
DannyG,
I have been on subways before here and in other countries. I have also seen trains that operate in larger airports in the US and other countries that do have barriers-usually a wall with very think glass and doors. It can be done. The trains always manage to stop exactly in front of the doors and the doors in the wall and the train both open and close at the same time. Very good way to get around an airport, especially it its a really big one.
The usually crowded subway (metro) stations in the City of São Paulo, Brazil, (FYI, São Paulo is the biggest and most populated city in S. America) were being retrofitted with barriers to prevent people falling or being pushed onto the tracks. It can be done without breaking the municipal budget.
Coward
This is starting to become a fad.
No guns, subways, flamables, knives. Need more laws and control. That will fix it.
Well guns we don't need.
I'm betting it was a man dressed like a woman.
Was she dressed like a woman?
What is that saying by the NRA? Something about 'people kill people' I beleive.
but...But...BUT...SUBWAYS kill people!
I can hear the libs already!
Poor guy. Why would anybody DO that??
R.I.P.
Finally - an intelligent, humane comment. Not only do we kill each other, but we can't even remark on something 100% senseless without politicizing. You guys with your snarky comments like "ban subways" should really be ashamed.
Actually, the people making remarks like that are self-identifying as the kind of people who are capable of just these kinds of acts of senseless violence. They have no empathy, no maturity, they feel no shock or revulsion, and they have no sense of what is appropriate—all they see is their own agenda, how they are superior and everyone else is a contemptible moron.
I've often thought that Newsvine illustrates one fact very clearly: most of the people voicing pro-gun sentiments are the very people who should NEVER be allowed to own a gun.
Patter123
You nailed it. The older I get the less these idiots surprise me. We are surrounded by the misguided in this world and those who are civil and respectful of others need to try twice as hard day to day. I'm afraid that society has become self centered, disrespectful at best and very angry. Also - Beware of those who mumble - no joke. These poor folks need some medical intervention so how can they get it?
I will answer you Oldport -
You take this sick individual, who push's people to their death, and you shoot them right through the head on national television.... anything else is BULLSHlT...which by the way is the foundation of America... so good luck with that.
Medical Intervention my ass.... you, my friend, pay for it you want them to have it...you cannot fix stupidity..and there would be ALLOT less sociopaths if there was trial at 5, verdict at 5:30, execution at 6 LIVE.
We could call it "The BULLSHlT Stops Here" show... you would see allot less mental illness right away.
Some would call me inhumane --- others would call me a HERO. Which one would you call me if the person being pushed onto those tracks was your child???
Hi,
@Shosyn,
I would call you a hero even if it wasn't my child or even if I didn't know the person. You know the liberals want to take that poor misguided person, examine thier life style since birth, and then try to come up with a cure for all people so this won't happen again.
What I say ask them 3 questions:
Did you know this person?
Why did you kill him/her?
What type of public execution would you like: Hanging, firing squad, electric chair, or fatal injection?
Of course their last meal should be fish heads and rice, or they can subsitute hot dogs.
Of course if they are hispanic, we could give them beans, but they would have to mash them themselves.
As we take God and his rules out of our lives, and say that he doesn't exist anymore, we seem to be having a lot more killings going on. Maybe would should ask these persons another question which would be:
Are you an atheist, or do you believe in God?
smerf!
I was waiting for someone to blame secularization! Thank you. The beauty of it was it came right after talk of execution (thou shall not kill?) and a nice little racist jab at hispanics.
How christian of you!
Punishment is supposed to serve as a deterrent. Punishment, no matter how severe, is not going to deter a mentally ill person. If we want to make people safer, we need to find ways to identify and help these individuals BEFORE they commit their acts.
Shosyn is clearly a good example of what is wrong in our society. Immediately calling for a violent death of another, without looking at facts. Then we wonder why anyone is driven to shoot a class full of children.
Its not the video games or movies or whatever. Its that strange sense of justice. I'm sure mass shooting criminals felt they were getting justice too.
Shosyn, I call you a hero. Put the death sentence in place, without wasting years on one appeal after another, stop letting people off because they're "guilty by reason of mental defect" and watch the turn around. Someone earlier mentioned the guy who ambushed the firefighters.... if he had been executed for killing his grandmother, instead of 18 years of tax payers money supporting his worthless a**, none of that would have happened in Webster
@hambone johnson,
Excuse me, I call it like I see it. At one time I had no qualms about the hispanic or latino race, until they tried to kill me twice, now I see them for what they really are, an invading populace of 10 million or more, affecting every state in the United States. The only thing is that I am not afraid to say it, because I have no qualms about saying what I see, and I am not afraid of not being politically correct. I live in a town right now, where illegal immigrant gangs have killed and hacked up students, because they want power, this is their turf. I hate to say this but this is American turf, and as long as I am still alive, I will fight for the American turf, a place where all people, all nationallities, races, religion can walk down the street and say I am a legal American and it is great to be out of my old country and be free from murders, fighting and killing for power.
and
Mr. hambone johnson, if you do not see what is happening in our country, then get out and walk the streets, I do, I take my dog for a walk every day. I refuse to give into drug dealers, gangs, etc. As far as me being racist, only against the bad people, and it seems that the hispanics have the least control of their people, after all I have never been attacked by any other race except for hispanics and to tell you the truth, they don't fight very well, they usually attack in groups, and if it is just two, they either have a gun or a knife, pitchfork, baseball bat etc.
What I have learned is that the legal hispanics are great people, very friendly, excellent food, and a great people to be around, the illegal hispanics, well. Just to bad that there are so many.
Look at our prisons, look at the number in there, of each race. Then call me racist, I call it like I see bubba, and the way I see it, the more people who believe in God and his laws, the less troube we have as a Christ believing nation.
Now that I have taken a big jab at the hispanics, and told you the truth, I do believe in thou shalt not kill, and even though I was attacked by hispanics, I didn't kill them, I beat the ever living evil out of them, and then turned them into the local police officer, even though the state they were in I could easily have killed them because I really don't like anyone attacking me, and I usually have a rule of not giving anyone a second chance, especially when it means my life. I sort of like life, and enjoyed walking on the streets of our city back in the 60's unafraid, saying hi, to all the people who were black and white, that's right we all got along, played football, baseball, etc. Then the hispanics moved in, the people both black and white started moving out, hambone, can you say fear. Jab at hispanics, no, I despise hispanics, I hated when they put their little Mexico flag above the American flag, if you feel that way go back to Mexico, don't insult all the vets who died to keep this country free by putting your petty flag of your country that you left to come and ruin mine. You may scare some of us, but you don't scare me, you bother me
smerf,
I really don't care why you're a bigot. I'm just commenting on your devaluation of human life after blaming people who don't believe in a god like you do. You see, it's that devaluation of human life that is causing this, not people without religion.
And not 'cause we kicked your god out of school, or some equally bull@!$%# rhetoric.
I just call 'em like I see 'em.
@ serf -
What a coincidence - this killer was Hispanic.
You have a problem with Hispanics mimi? Let me know and I will give you a piece of this Hispanic mind. And it isn't nice and cozy and pretty.
facts???
LOL... here is the facts... a person pushed another person to his death on purpose...
What facts other then that matter??? Being mentally defective? Being insane? Maybe they were hispanic? Here is my retort to you...
ARE YOU DEFENDING THIS DERANGED LUNATIC????? If so please enlighten us all.....oh and you being hispanic has ZERO to do with this article....(unless you are defending hispanic women who push people to their death).
Your last comment is clear that it is not people like me who are the problem.....just look in the mirror. What does you being hispanic have to do with this article?
I seek justice, you seek weak lame answers to try and justify the killer?
I was speaking to mimi, not you, but I see what motivates you to respond. But I will answer what you said. You suggest we put bullets in anyone committing a crime, instead of allowing the law to work the way it was meant. I say that when the recent shooters walked into a school, a theater, a mall, or whatever it was, they felt that society had done them wrong and they wanted justice. I compared that thinking to yours, where you want justice by an immediate assassination. Yes, I implied that you seem very similar to those lunatics. And I believe that they too didn't think there was anything wrong with their version of justice.
On my reponce to mimi, I want to know what this means:
My questions stands. Do you have a problem with Hispanics?
I have a problem with T-Rexs
That's not a T-rex. Its actually a Dinosaur with my last name. I'm very proud of him. LOL
Then looks like we don't have a problem now do we Mister Dinosaur Man Lol!! I'm actually not very good at naming dinosaurs. I only know what a brochiosaurus looks like cuz I saw it on Jurassic Park! Is it a velociraptor?
No, then my last name would be Velo or Raptor. I'll have to PM you since I won't advertise my name here. Though you might have an old PM from before I changed it that showed it.
Hey Velociraptor could be your last name! I mean Kate Winslets husband changed his last name to Rocknroll! I do remember seeing it before on an old pm but I didnt think there was a dinosaur called that but like I said I'm really awful at naming them. lol I just looked it up and there really is a dinosaur named that LOL!!!
I am wondering why, if the fact that she was Hispanic, has no relevance, this news site left that one, tiny, bit of information out of the descripton when it was included in other news sites.
I have a problem with trying to cover up the fact that she was Hispanic. And it was a cover up by this news agency considering the fact that this news article on NBC is an EXACT copy of the article on the other news sites.... EXCEPT for the word Hispanic.
When you demand to be treated equal, you need to be treated equal... not SPECIAL.
Yeah, I'm with you. Who needs appeals? So what if we execute innocent people. They're just "collateral damage." Right?
You didn't answer my question mimi. Don't shy away now.
The fact is it wouldn't matter to me if this writer mentioned if the pusher was hispanic or not. Yes I heard that she was hispanic on the radio this morning, and its not for me to explain why NBC decided to leave that out. Its either that you are right and they are afraid to offend by mentioning race, or that mentioning race would bring on anti hispanic tirades such as the one you were looking forward to, or that they could not confirm that fact in time before publishing.
I don't ask you to treat me equal, when did I request that? And more importantly, what makes you think that you are in a position to be begged for equality? I see you have delusions of grandeur-ism and maybe that is why you don't consider what you write. If your beef is with NBC then make that clear. If its with Hispanics, then bring it on.
But the questions stands.. Why was it such a "coincidence" to you that the person was hispanic?
Mindie, hmm maybe I will use that as my middle name. Tony 'Velosiraptor' (insert last name here)
See how much cooler your name would sound then!!!!
That doesn't imply you have a problem that they left that part out. It is saying "Go figure it was a Hispanic" it's racist it's just like saying "What a coincidence- the killer was a middle aged fat white man or black man or asian man or woman" Maybe they left it out because it didn't really matter.
Mimi, can I haz equalz rights?? Me tireds of being so left outs of tings. pleeze be good white person and be kind to us lowly hispaniks.
LOL, what a putz.
It's funny how a computer screen and keyboard gives people balls.
Yes it does. The "scremin"part should be changed to "typing". Cause she is big enough to talk about certain people behind a keyboard, but not to them.
Her dream has come true. Here I am ready for her to say what she has been holding back for years.
TFNJ -
What a chip you have on your shoulder.
I have stated my problem. NBC for whatever reason has a "problem" of their own with not disclosing all the information that they otherwise copied word for word from the news site that released the story. They have a tendency to this when it involves Hispanics.
They also never release a positive news story about Native Americans.
In 2005, the Red Lake Reservation school in Minnesota was the site of a shooting that left five students dead and four adults wounded. Survivors of the Columbine massacre travelled to Red Lake to spend time with the students and talk with them to help them heal and deal with the attack.
The Red Lake survivors, in turn travelled to Newtown to pay it forward, to do what they could to help. Not a word of it has mentioned on this site.
When the nanny killed the two children in New York, the comments section was shut down immediately because the father is an executive of this news site. The follow up story about how she tried to get her lawyer to keep news reporters from witnessing her arraignment, and how she blamed the family for making her work more hours, was not even covered here.
I follow this site because of the Vine and on the whole, though I do not agree with the viewpoint of everyone here, there are a lot of intelligent people and interesting and amusing comments. I often come away with thoughts in my head that surprise even my aging brain, and I often learn new points of view.
But one thing is a fact... we, as humans, judge people based on our own experiences and interactions with them. I have a grandchild who is half Hispanic and love him dearly. His grandparents are wonderful people and always welcome in my home.
On the other hand, three illegals tried to steal my horse. (Yes, they were illegals, my local law enforcement told me so even as they refused to do anything about them because they aren't high priority.) I ran them off with my rifle. But you don't touch my horse or my dogs and be forgiven... ever. Just ask my granddaughter, who was driving the truck.
Well hopefully you get to hear it, but I, my friend, will just have to check back next Wednesday. I am taking off early and won't be back until next Wednesday. Helloooo four day weekend. Although I'll be busy taking care of my love (he has the flu :() So you have fun with your racist posters! Have a great New Year!!!!
I am off too Mindy. Yahoo. Hope he gets better, and enjoy the new year. have fun.
Mimi, I don't care about all that. Sorry if you felt that my purpose was to know your life story.
If it makes you warm and fuzzy, I am part Native American as well. But I guess my Hispanic side should be asking you to be tolerant of me? LOL
Sorry you are overwhelmed with that Mexican problem. But just to educate you a little, the term Hispanic applies to many people from different backgrounds. Whatever little hole you are from, I guess has many Mexicans. Florida tends to have many Cubans. And NYC and surrounding areas tends to have many Puerto Ricans and Dominicans. Your broad comment about it being so shocking that it was a Hispanic seems to be a dig at all Hispanics.
I'm not wrong about you, I know. That comment, and the one about me asking to be treated equal, only comes from a racist. But I do have to go enjoy my long weekend. So reply back with some nonsense if you want. I will reply when I return.
Try not to take that chip on your shoulder with you if you are flying. Extra baggage is costing a lot these days.
To be fair TFNJ considering they're actively LOOKING for this woman it might help that we know she's hispanic. Just like if she was any other race it would help for us to know that too.
I'm going to go all conspiracy though: from the article:
I don't know why but it strikes me as odd. Was the acting weird and mumbling to herself an act? Is she maybe someone who was after this guy? A thwarted lover or something? Maybe it's just the way the paragraph was written. *shrugs*
You enjoyed walking on the streets of your city back in the 60's unafraid, that was 53 years ago, so you are in your 60's at least. You are afraid of and despise Hispanics because they have intimidated you and discredited your country's flag, my flag the flag that I defended in the military. See here this is the problem about your rant, you started off saying, "I call it like I see it. At one time I had no qualms about the Hispanic or Latino race". When was this, when? Answer when you did not have to live around them. You want them to be great full to be in our country and show appreciation that they are out of there old country and free from murders well they are not and they know it. Usually with age comes wisdom but that has escaped you, There are some valid things that you saying here but the are all lost in your "hate" that is motivated through fear. You have a lot of inflammatory speech here that will only get people to hate us more, it divides us all when you hate. All hate is, is being a coward it solves nothing, I really hope that you find the courage to overcome your fear and take responsibility for your situation. Maybe you could find it in your heart to love something about yourself then you could not hate. Good luck.

I agree with you I thought it was odd that she chose this guy in particular. She could have probably easily have pushed any number of people why did she wait for him? Very odd indeed.
This happens far too often. I can't believe we as a society allow easy access to subways.
seems there is a cure for an itchy trigger finger!!
take the guns away. and people are finally getting to that point, where that is just what is about to happen.
majority rules!!!!!!!!!!!!! finally!!
then there are more gun banners seems the gun owners won't have a chance.
finally some sanity arrives to this country. finally.
Majority rules, where do you think you live is my question, majority rule is the same as
mob rule. Oh and congratulations of being from a city with the most restrictive
gun lows in the country, and a record set in over 500 murders!
Now see, all this could've been prevented if the man had his own subway station and train.
Some people here pointed out that this kind of incident is happening more often these days than in old times, but they fail to take into account the fact that there's more people in this country and around the world now a days resulting in overcrowding, dwinding resources and social services such as mental health care. Add to this the increase in stress created by an increasingly complicated world and it's not hard to see why we hear crazy and horrific things happening almost as a matter of routine .
Put down the pipe, Bro. It doesn't suit you.
Well, we should ask if these incidents ARE more common now. Thirty years ago, this tragedy would have resulted in a few newspaper articles and a mention or two on radio and TV. Now, the entire country can hear about it with a few clicks.
I don't know the statistics. Perhaps these events are more common. But, we've got to avoid confusing perception with reality.
Where is Hispania? Sounds like it must be a pretty @!$%#ty place as they are all sneaking into this country.
Hopefully they got a good picture of the person responsible. And catch them soon.
Condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
It should be against the law to push someone in front of a Subway!
Most people have made comments without any real details of the incident or having an appreciation of how many deaths happen each year on the NYC subways. While it still is a rare event, a number of deaths happen each year. Most of you are unaware so it seems shocking. And to family members, it certainly is a tragedy.
The Internet can be a very useful thing. You can learn all kinds of things. For instance, this is what I found in a June 2012 article about NYC subways. The link is below.
Last year, 146 people were struck by subway trains, with 47 killed... The statistic for riders hit includes people struck while leaning over from the platform and those who deliberately climbed onto the tracks to retrieve dropped cellphones, purses and other personal items.
http://gawker.com/5920483/will-you-be-struck-by-a-new-york-city-subway-train-this-year
Tomilvento, how many of the deaths every year are caused by people being pushed onto the tracks? I think that is the detail that has most people (who are upset at all) upset.
Good point Holly. But there was one example of this in NYC just a few weeks ago. My point is that this is not the signal of a growing decadence in society. It happens every year. Some are suicides, some foolishness, and some are murder.
Japan is installing protective barriers to prevent suicide. There are no guns in Japan and homicide is very rare. There are many positive aspects of socialism. Americans should learn to respect one another.
We need to ban subway trains. Something has to be done now.
Japan's suicide rate is the highest in the world. They don't need guns.
Respecting other people comes from the ability to feel compassion, sympathy, empathy and other such basic human emotions along with being taught good manners and the skills of being polite and respectful to others from a very early age. With manners and respect for others no longer being taught in the home added to the lack of basic human emotions we see in today's world... good luck with trying to force adults to respect one another. That day has long since passed us by and I believe it's a universal problem and not confined to the shorelines of America.
Japan's homicide rate is low because police only call it a homicide if the case a)will be easy to solve and/or b)won't embarrass any important figures or cultural institutions. Police there love having a high success rate and do everything they can to skew the numbers in their favor. Families have to fight for autopsies to be done at all.
We need to worry about ourselves. Different country, different problems. Don't compare us to Japan. Hope-fully they will fall in the ocean and we wont have to keep giving them aid.
Why Tananka, you folks can't even respect yourselves nor anyone else look at your own country's history before you start? Those who live in paper houses shouldn't play with matches!
My heart goes out to the victims of the senseless crimes worldwide!
GM Takenada
This wasn't a suicide
It also has absolutely NOTHING to do with guns,( OCD flare up again eh?)
But neither you nor anyone else can name any.
People do......nut case's don't.
so basically you where able to compile 4 whole sentences, Good job, bet you worked on it all night to, too bad none of them are relevant. But keep on trying Takenada, who knows maybe someday you will be able to beat that OCD of yours and actually make sense.
SOCIALISM, There are many positive aspects of socialism. I will give you one right now, the elate that run the socialism usually are able to prevent the ignorant from any free speech, so we would never have had to see your comment. How dare you, go move to Russia and tell me how that works for you, you despicable freeloader.
They execute you in Japan for murder.
...when push comes to shove..
I noticed someone mentioned you can't push 26 people in front of a subway train so the comparison doesn't make sense. Oh no? Try this list- Julio Gonzalez killed 87 in the Bronx with a plastic milk container and a $1 of gasoline. Sandra Ford killed 7 in Reno with a Lincoln Continental. Jim Jones killed 900+ with cyanide laced koolaid. Timothy McVeigh killed 200+ with diesel oil, fertilizer and a Ryder truck. Randy Kraft killed 60+ with rx pills and a cooler of beer. A guy named Graham killed his Mom for the insurance money with a few sticks of dynamite in her luggage. She happened to be on an airplane at the time and the rest of the passangers were collateral damage. Ted Bundy killed 30+ with a lug wrench, hand cuffs and his bare hands. John Wayne Gacy killed 30+ with handcuffs, a 12 inch wooden rod and clothes line. In 1927 a failed politician blew up the local school in Bath Township Michigan killing 58 and himself. He also happened to be the school treasurer. Mohammad Atta and friends killed 3000 with box cutters. Where there's a will there's a way. Don't need a gun.
leftsux... we have one mass shooting ever TWO WEEKS in the United States. It's all due to semi-auto guns, often with high magazine capacity and high cyclic rates. The spurious incidents your citing are nothing compared to the VOLUME of incidents we have with crazy people getting easy access to semi-automatic weapons. Thats plain to see. Stop trying to obfuscate the issue.
Agreed, bruce in dc. I can't believe the number of pro-gun people who say over and over that "liberals" want to BAN GUNS. This is nonsense. The private ownership of certain kinds of assault weapons should be banned. Background checks should be more thorough. Otherwise, people will still be able to own guns for protection, hunting, and target practice. They can also stuff their closets with them, give bullets to their babies to teeth on, and make table lamps for grandma out of guns if they want. When two firemen were shot to death recently when responding to a fire, some lunkheads actually posted "humorous" comments saying that that was proof that we should "ban fires because fires kill people". Asses, every one of them.
Hi,
Yes, first lets ban automatic weapons, then lets ban guns of all types, why don't bruce in dc, and Nikolaus20 get a life, I don't own a gun except for a pellet gun, it is sort of an automatic weapon since I can fire 15 pellets without reloading, why do I have this, just to scare of coyotes when I am out in the woods fishing.
Now I am thinking that you two (bruce in dc & Nikolaus20) have some sort of smarts being the drifty liberals that you are.
Now if you ban automatic weapons, the only thing you are doing is keeping the good guys from having them, why, because the illegal gun sellers would really love you, they would be able to increase their prices because "if I get caught I will get a harsher penalty, or hey dude the price is higher because they are not available" would this prevent automatic weapons, no, not really, since a lot of them are being sold on the black market oops sorry about that can't say black market, some people might be offended by that so let me include white, red yellow, brown, pink, etc. or anyone selling these weapons.
Now the next incidence, is that you probably want to support our government, but do you really trust these control type freaks that have money and power, and want to take over. The last people I would trust would be our politicians, who have run up the national debt way beyound the means of the American tax payers way to pay. Our government who is probably going to fall off the fiscal cliff, if not this year maybe next, etc. are soon going to take away everything that we worked and paid for, like:
Pensions - you have heard it, we can't afford to keep paying pensions, but they can give billions to other countries to remain our friends, BS.
Social Security - their are more people retiring these next couple of years then we have money in the bucket, once again BS, where is the money you took for other buckets. We the American citizan, have paid our money in by force because the Government said we had to, business's also paid money in because you the government said they had to, where is this money, and if you took it for something else without our permission this is called stealing, and all you people in the US government, congress and senate should be arrested and brought up on charges by the American people, or is it that you know that by getting the media who are a bunch of idiots, to broadcast every little gun event, so that you can take away the weapons that the American people have, so that they can no longer defend themselves can now do what they want when they want, thus bringing back the slavery that was common during the industrial revolution.
We are almost there folks, and you liberals keep on chanting, but consider this, the Normandy invasion had only about 52, 0000 people, the invasion of illegal immigrants into this country at last know count is about 10.5 million to a guesstimate of 20 million people, and we the American people stand by and let this happen.
Then the liberals wonder why we have bars on our windows and 12 foot high fences with barbed and razon wire on the top, and why the American people are going crazy buying guns.
Could these white american middle class kids be telling us something that we can't see, like gangs in our schools, you know these third world country people don't play around, they are used to seeing death, and not afraid of dishing it out, so they bring their traditions with them and thats a fact jack. If you liberals don't believe this look at Iraq, Afghanistan, Mexico, South America etc.
bye
Timothy McVeigh slaughtered 168 that day, including 19 children. We don't need you to exaggerate murder totals to make your point. We also can plainly see that you are reaching and clearly are delusional. The serial killers you mention do not compare to mass murderers because they didn't kill all of their victims at once. Try getting that through your foolish thought process...
Bruce: in reading your comment im trying to determine what your definition of mass killing is? 2 people? 4 people? Because if im correct, it was months between the movie theater shooting and the Newtown/Mall shootings. It was a year between the Arizona and theater shooting. And it was a couple of years between the Arizona shooting and VTech.
So give a definition of killing sprees. Because that might clear it up. Otherwise, I suspect that NBC has done its job by freaking out the American public enough to support knee-jerk policy instead of reasonable long-term multi-facited solutions.
I take the DC Metro all the time, no rails. I ALWAYS stand a full body length from the edge UNTIL the front of the train passes me, then i walk right up to the side of the train whizzing by because i know if i was shoved then, i'd bounce off. JUST DO THAT, and you'll be OK. I see guys standing right on the edge trying to get a good seat, but what if you passed out? What if your shoved due to overcrowding... or a crazy person as in this case?
I ride the NYC subway frequently and always stand well back from the edge of the platform. I do think about the crazies, but someone on the edge could just as easily be jostled by the crowd.
The key word you used is "crowd". There is a mob mentality within a crowd that allows many to discard all human decency and common sense. Remember the security guard at the door of the K-Mart who was murdered by the ignorant crowd on black Friday about two years ago? They simply ran over him and stomped him to death in a maddened rush to buy "things". His life meant nothing to the mob, just as a crowd on a train platform will push and shove without regard to anyone....
There's a big difference between a crowd that tramples a security guard to death in their rush for cheap blu-ray players, and a static crowd on a subway platform just happens to get too big to be safe. There doesn't have to be pushing and shoving involved. But, when you get so many people in a confined area, is it easy for someone to be accidentally pushed off the edge.
life has changed' people! there is no more fist fights, im going after the new year to buy me a hun gun' not a machine gun' that all the crazy b@$t@rd$ have excess to these days
Joe, machine guns are illegal in the US. To top that off, I have yet to see a single report of a US private citizen using a machine gun to commit a crime in the US in the past year.
try years. this aint Capone's guns no more. lol.
I'd wager now that it made the news again it will start to happen even more.
We need to outlaw people! They kill with , gun, cars, bats, barehanded
etc etc etc... If that pesky Cain vs Able thing hadn't got so much press
his wouldn't be happening!
