Police are looking for a woman who was seen mumbling to herself before she allegedly pushed an unsuspecting man to his death in front of an oncoming No. 7 train at a Queens subway station Thursday evening, police said.
The man was standing on the northbound platform of the 40th Street and Queens Boulevard elevated train when police say the woman walked up behind him and pushed him onto the tracks. Witnesses told police the man had his back to the woman and didn't appear to notice her. No words were exchanged.
The man died at the scene. His identity has not been released.
Witnesses told police the female suspect had been walking back and forth on the platform and talking to herself before sitting down, alone, on a wooden bench near the north end of the walkway. When the train pulled into the station shortly after 8 p.m., the woman got up off the bench and pushed the man, according to witness statements.
The suspect then fled the platform, running down a flight of stairs to the turnstile area and down a second flight to Queens Boulevard. It's unknown where she went from there. Police released surveillance video of her running onto the street.
The suspect is described as being a heavyset woman about 5 feet 5 inches tall with brown or blond hair. She was wearing a white and gray ski jacket and Nike sneakers at the time of the incident.
It is the second time this month that a person has been shoved onto subway train tracks and killed.
Naeem Davis, a 30-year-old deli worker, was recently arrested and charged with second-degree murder for allegedly pushing a man off a midtown subway platform to his death.
Ki-Suk Han, 58, was stuck by a southbound Q train after being pushed off the platform at the 49th Street station in Manhattan Dec. 3.

I think we need to ban subway trains. If the train wasn't there, the woman would not have pushed the man into it/in front of it.
New Yorkers are so resourceful. She didn't use a gun, so, I guess the statement "if you want to kill someone, you will find a way" rings true again.
Isn't this the second time in a month that someone used the subway to kill someone? Ban all subways now before it is used to kill again. And it will be used.

All kinds of people kill, but lately, mumbling, bizarre acting killers with mental issues seem to be in the news a lot. Years ago, states closed many of their mental institutions, citing "patient rights" and gave these people the "right" to live on the streets and fend for themselves. In recent years, states began to place some mentally ill, or young and socially maladjusted individuals into state subsidized senior citizen housing complexes. The seniors, who just want a place to live safely, naturally resented this, but states wouldn't listen to them.

Shosyn, the key word is sociopath. We read about sociopaths in the newspapers and then sociopaths comment and attempt to be clever and humorous when they comment on the behavior of the newsworthy sociopaths. I don't agree with your methods of punishment although I believe I can relate to your desire for a quick and final solution to this sort of crime. I would like to see people like this murderer removed and locked away from society for the rest of her life. Prisons are here and they're always going to be here... we should use them to segregate the real criminals away from those who long for a life without these kinds of events in it. So many people are adversely affected when things like this happen: the victim, family, friends, witnesses, those who have to handle the remains of the poor man and, as someone else commented, the driver of the train so I think it would be just that much worse if the wrong person was swiftly and publicly executed for the crime.
I wonder if she recently lost a child to some kind of violence, or a relative. There have been a lot of teens killed in the last couple of years.

I don't understand how she simply walked away? How can no one intervene when these things happen? What's wrong with the citizens of this country? Take a stand people! Have a conscience!
This is so sad. It's obvious that the person who did this is not mentally stable. No sane person would do such a thing. If she's caught, hopefully she will get the psychiatric help she needs. I pray for the victim's family and loved ones. Terrible, terrible tragedy...
How do you know she is unstable? Maybe she was exacting revenge?
How is she going to get psychiatric help? She probably can't afford to ride the train. So we stick her in a clinic... toss some drugs in her... release her... and next year she'll kill again.
How about EUTHANASIA??? When a dog bites a child... they put it down no question. It may be the most loving dog and the child was taunting it... but they euthanize it.
But some fatass kills a man... and you say get her help? How will she ever be a useful member of society. Would you ever stand next to her at a subway platform? She shouldn't breed. She shouldn't breath. We have enough freeloaders and peaceful mental cases. We don't need the violent ones.

Of all the killings in NYC, NBC picks this incident for a "news" story...why...no "assault rifle" was used...and why are they hunting for the woman...the train killed the victim...blood all over its hands...er...wheels...open and shut case...punishment...melt down the train...then think up some law so this "never happens again"...I'm feeling better already...my government in action...brings a wee bit of moisture to my eye...

We need mentally ill control. There has to be a way to protect people from the clearly ill people who refuse to see to their own mental health. I guarantee there will be an extensive history with this woman.
