Adam Lanza's body claimed by father for burial

The body of the gunman who killed 26 people at Sandy Hook Elementary School in one of the nation’s deadliest mass shootings was claimed last week by his father for burial, according to a family spokesman.

Adam Lanza’s father, Peter, claimed his son's remains on Thursday, and private arrangements were held over the weekend at an undisclosed location, a spokesman for Peter Lanza said.

Twenty-year-old Adam Lanza gunned down 20 first-graders and six school staffers on Dec. 14 after first killing his mother in the home they shared in the quiet New England hamlet of Newtown, Conn. Lanza died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound as police stormed the school during his rampage.

A private service for his mother, Nancy Lanza, was held earlier this month in New Hampshire. The Lanzas  divorced a few years ago, and Peter was said to be estranged from his son. He has stayed largely out of sight since the killings.

An investigation into the massacre, which President Obama on Sunday called the worst day of his presidency, is ongoing. A federal task force on gun violence is expected to give its recommendations to Obama next month.

Pray for his dad! It is unimaginable the grief his son laid on him and families of victims.

      which could be worse,

you child killed by a demon

      or

your child the demon who killed.

      Both are horrible.

"Pray for his dad"...hhmmmm, I don't think so. His kid was a weirdo. Both parents allowed him to continue acting as a weirdo. Mommy showed him how to handle guns. Evidently neither parent ever disciplined this weirdo. Daddy's been out of the picture for how long?

Prays for the dad? Nope - "Father of the Year" he is not. Wonder what he's gonna do about the remaining son... Prayers for the kids & teachers, both survivors & those killed.

While the Sandy Hook school shootings must be recorded as one of the worst tragedies in our history. we would be remiss if authorities failed to perform due dilligence and perform an autopsy on Adam Lanza to determine if he had taken mind altering depression medication before committing the mass shootings.

While Liberals are content to blame guns as their primary target in this investigation, we may as well go a step further and blame Ford, GM, and Chrysler, fo all of the drunk driving accidents as well.

How can we help prevent future incidents like this from happening?

        1. Install silent alarms that automatically dial police insteasd of taking prescious minutes to dial 911 and speak with a ventral dispatcher.

        2. Reduce the amiount of breakable glass in all entry and exit doors, sidelights, and transoms.

        3. Provide areas of refuge within the school where students and teachers may take refuge in case of trouble. This could be as simple as inside locks on classroom doors, lockable closets, and / or, lockcer rooms in gymnasiums and natatoriums.

        4. Educate parents about the use of prescribed depression medication whose side effects are worse than the symptoms they are trying to cure.

        5. install camers covering the school exterior and motion detectors in areas not easily viewed.

Goverenment authorities would like to wrap up their investigation and use this as a springboard for gun control at the expense of thos who lost children and staff that tragic day. This may be their answer but the silent killer is still out there and being prescribed every day. The public should not be used as the crash test dummies for these powerful drugs no more than illegal drugs should be legalized and let loose on our streets - the potential for disaster lies with both, and each are deserving of further investigation and monitoring.

The reality was that this boy was sick but mom and dad did nothing to address it. Dad was busy starting a new life for himself with a new family and mom was hitting the bars giving people money and buying rounds of drinks for them in some misguided attempt at making grateful friends. She indulged her stupid fascination for guns in an irresponsible manner and had her face blown off. Dad, you would be dead too but you were not around. In short, these two selfish, self-centered, money hungry slobs could not be called parents or mom and dads except in the biological term. Meanwhile, the real 'parents' are mourning the loss of their innocent beautiful children who died violently by gunshot fire from a large magazine weapon(belonging to mother dumbass) and we are supposed to feel sorrow for this Peter Lanza? Live with this on your conscience forever Mr. Jerk, that you could perhaps have prevented this disaster by being proactive in getting this son of yours in an institution. Pay attention to your children and not so much your lifestyle.

Hopefully he was cremated or buried in an unmarked grave. A lot of people would like to dig him up and shoot him again.

I have no sympathy for his father. At least his child support will be curtailed.

Ha i personally DARE any of you to do 5 minutes of research on This mans job, and James Holmes (Batman Shooter) dad's job.

Well not to get too far into it and spoil all of the fun they "just both so happen to be" analysts for two Very big financial firms (go found out which ones for yourself) that were BOTH to testify and BRING compelling evidence into the Giant LIBOR scandal case that just so happens to have been the catalysis for us "losing" that 14.5 was it? TRILLION dollars...remember that little announcement they made the DAY BEFORE 9/11? Probably not who would right? Just another cawinkydink huh?

What are the freaking odds of BOTH of their sons "going nuts" "out of the blue" like that? DAYS BEFORE THEIR TESTIMONIES? Hmmmmmmm

See, in the "legal" world, thats called circumstantial evidence.

Just like "out of the blue" the highly decorated Leader of the Seal Team Six that "Killed" Osama Bin Laden apparently committed suicide the other day (thats very damn odd for an officer of his decor and status) and over 20, yes OVER 20 of that team that was STS has (just by rare occurance im sure) were just killed in a Helo crash. Hmmmm Oddly enough people belive that story even after the US Army EVEN STATED in a Freedom of Info Act that Osama died in Dec 2001 from an illness (dont recall the exact name)

Just look at the FACTS and connect the dot

I know some one has to watch that crappy CSI show c'mon Its like your own Case!!! How Fun!!

Perhaps the killers father needs to suffer!! Hell, he walked out on his wife and son. Circumstances seem to indicate he was never a big part of his sons life anyway. He probably claimed the body out of guilt. guilt that had he been there, had he been a better father, had he tutored, nurtured, and assisted his son thru those difficult teenage yrs, this might not have happenned. I got no love for..DEADBEAT DADS!! He claims his son body after the fact. He should have been a better father. Just because you divorce, does not mean you neglect your kids. I divorced. Still put my 2 kids thru college, let them visit me, visited them, and always supported them mentally and financially. They..are still your offspring. And they develop and remember you..no matter what!!! This will haunt Mr. Lanza for the rest of his natural life!!

I'm sick and tired of hearing that it's not the Father's fault and not the Mother's fault. You would think the kid was an orphan from the dialog in here! If you have a teenager or young adult male in the household that is troubled or that has mental issues, then you should not have guns in the house! Period! No matter how well you lock them up, kids are smart enough to get to them. Maybe people will learn something from the death of Nancy Lanza. If you buy a weapon, it could well be used against you. As for the Dad, he must have known that there were weapons in the house (just as bad). It's like gasoline and matches folks. NOT hard to figure out if you have half a brain. As for the conspiracy freaks - I'm tired of those too! Please go back to your JFK third gun videos and the space Alien kidnap videos that you treasure. Or take up knitting or something. Just stay out of intelligent comment postings on the Web! GeeeZ

Anyone who begins their statement by saying that they are "sick and tired" of anything isn't here to be informed or engage in intelligent discussion.

The patsy in any crime is provided a backstory which makes the "sick and tired" amongst us able to believe the unproven guilt of the patsy. The reason that you are tired is because your brain is sick. You are not up to the task of questioning authority and demanding answers from legal proofs.

I am simply floored and disgusted with how many people are now defending the actions of this mass murderer of innocent 6 and 7-year-olds and their teachers. NRA supporters are so up in arms (literally) about their Second Amendment rights that they want to convince us that the murders of these innocent children mean nothing. How would all these NRA members feel if it was their children?

The NRA has such a sick hold over people - it's like a cult that wills people to do their bidding, anything to increase the sale of guns and related products. This cult makes such arguments that these murders are excusable because Lanza was "mentally ill." For someone to not be culpable for their crimes because of mental illness, they have to be so far gone as to not know the difference between right and wrong. Lanza clearly knew what he was doing, coldly premeditated these murders and had ample time to appreciate the wrongfulness of his actions. I read that he was a "genius" - therefore completely competent to know how wrong he was.

It's time to stop these NRA-fueled lies and propaganda. We need a change in this country to prevent these kind of tragedies from happening again. And as sure as I'm sitting here, I will do whatever I can to help facilitate that change.

I've said it once and I'll say over and over again...we are all a product of our up bringing. Something went wrong with how the Lanzas' raised their psycho killer son. Lanzas was a bad seed and they (his parents) knew it. They probably coddled Adam and thought he was cute until he was too old for them to do anything about it. People who want to have children should be adults/parents first and quit thinking if you're a friend your child will like you better, it never works...your child needs stability and structure. I feel sorry for the innocent victims, not him or his family.
