Clarence Newcomb, 25, was arrested early Friday after telling police that he killed his 82-year-old grandmother.
A 25-year-old New York man was arrested Friday after he told police that he killed his grandmother following a debate over what to watch on TV.
Clarence Newcomb, 25, called 911 at 4:35 a.m. Friday. Arriving at the home in Kings Park, on Long Island, where the two have lived for years, police found 82-year-old Kathleen Newcomb lying dead in the living room.
Clarence Newcomb told police that he physically assaulted her and did not use a weapon.
He has lived with his grandmother since he was 3, according to a police spokesman. There was no history of domestic violence, the spokesman said.
As for the shows that sparked the argument, police don’t know.
Clarence Newcomb was supposed to be charged by the district attorney on Friday, although that was delayed when he was sent to the hospital with several health concerns, according to the police spokesman.

In my opinion, a large number of any of us has the capacity to commit a spur of the moment crime depending on the circumstances. Thank goodness Obama has the secret service or a good many radical minded and frustrated conservative detractors would have been assassinated him. If there were a button on your PCs that had, " PUSH BUTTON TO DESTROY OBAMA" many of you would have been pushed it.
During his term in office for the last four years and his run for office this term, many of your evil comments were pretty frightening, threatening and deserving of possible security investigations. Yep. Dr. Seems Jekyll and Mr Hyde will always be lurking in the basement of the hearts of most of us, if not all. Heehee!

Some would say mental illness runs ramped in America, I say it's running at light speed! Killings and more killings, family, friends, neighbors and total strangers! Criminal and gang activity has made Chicago, New York and other cities the bastions of violence and yet the emphasis is on the legal gun owning citizen, the NRA, the 2nd Amendment and just about any other scapegoat the liberal anti-gun twits can use. Facts suggest that all of these resent incidents, both high profile shootings and urban deaths, come at the hands of criminals, gangs and crazy people but don't let facts get in the way!!! NY will list the names and address of the legal gun owner and Law Enforcement Officers but neglects to, in their attempt to just highlight guns, list the names and addresses of violent felons, criminals, gang members or the mentally ill living next door to you!..makes sense? Ask yourself "who doesn't follow the law?" and "will adding new laws effect them?", then ask yourself "who is really being punished, the criminal, gang member, crazy person or the law abiding gun owning citizen?" Nothing being said by the liberal wing-nuts today will result in anything more than relieving a citizen of his gun and rights in preference to allowing the bad guys to keep and use theirs with little or no resistance! Until the Government and Law Enforcement extracts the guns from criminals, gang members and all those crazies why should a citizen give up his or hers??? Remember this, any time the Government bans or makes something illegal it creates "Gangs", "Mafias", "Cartels" and escalating violence, it's the nature of the beast!!!! The average citizen has the right of self protection when the Law can't provide it and that's just about all the time since they are not clairvoyant and capable to determining time and place of a incident before it happens. It's a crazy world and if you wish to leave your life up to chance, do it but don't expect others to do the same!!!!!! If you think it's all paranoia ask the victims of these last shootings and those in Chicago and New York (other cities also)...Oh, wait! you can't they're dead!!!!...killed by the very same people who don't follow the law or the laws you will suggest!!!....grow up!!!...
I bet he will not challenge one man in prison as to which TV shows are going to be watched by the group. He will sit silently like the pathetic coward he is and watch whatever is showing. I'm sure he'll be among the lowest in the prison's hierarchy.

Many commenters here seem to think that they are far and above any criminal conduct similar to Mr. Newcomb. But if words could kill, Obama would have died a "thousand deaths" already. Believe it!

I have a feeling this wasn't the first time this sick lazy bastard had hurt his grandma, he probably hit her on a regular basis, he went to far this last time.. Sick as they come when older people are teated like they don't matter once they become a burden to there family's..
He never touched her before. He was always very protective of her.
In the last few days he had been complaining of massive headaches and a loud buzzing sound in his ears. He had even taken to wearing ear plugs to try and sleep and had disconnected the smoke alarm because he said he could hear the buzzing.
A neighbor said he came to their home at 2:30AM worried about her son and was talking about mutual friend and others who were alive as though they were dead. He said he couldn't sleep and she tried to get him to come inside and spend the night. He sat on her porch for two hours with his head in his hands saying his head hurt.
He didn't sponge off the grandmother. He is Native American and most likely received land payments. He recently graduated college and the grandmother certainly didn't pay for that on her Social Security.
When he was arrested he was taken directly to the emergency room at the local hospital. The police can't even say how the grandmother died.
I hope there is a follow up to this story because it's highly possible the young man had an active tumor on his brain... but since a gun wasn't involved the story will probably fade away.
He had friends of many long years standing and was not a loner.
