Extreme caution is advised for travel.

Oh an article about weather, definitely proof of global warming.

Don't be dumb. And actually, yes, it is proof. Snow was forecasted which never fell, yet again. A snowless winter thus far. It is very unnatural.

Well, if they can't even get the short term forecast right, how in the world can they predict the long term trends? Truth is, they can't, they just make stuff up.

Actually, Rex-1306908, the forecast predicts a probability of precipitation - this was not 100%. Therefore, they are not incorrect. As for global warming, the predictions have been a bit optimistic, with reality being more horrendous.

Chicago, far north side, Sunday, 13 Jan., 7;47 am: so far not a flake or flurry. Snowplow drivers dropping dead from starvation.

Wisconsin got the freezing sleet and snow. they were off by a 100 or so miles.

Trudat: it's not global warming, it is called Climate Change. And yes, it is happening. East Coast having heat wave, west coast sub-freezing. It's happening as we speak and to claim otherwise is ignorant.

You seem to be an expert. Explain the droughts that hit, the floods that are increasing. The hurricane seasons being extended.

Yes it is warmer on the south side of the Jet Stream, colder on the north side. The cold is coming your way, that's how WEATHER works. And as an old weather guy, I can assure this pattern is not climate change, but part of a normal winter. Droughts happen for all kinds of conditions, some of the bigger players being El Nino and La Nina. Right now the pattern is neutral and favoring neither one. Floods are not increasing and hurricane season is not getting longer...one late Category 1 storm does not equal a pattern.

They might Jamie, but not likely. I don't live in Chicago now but I was born and reared in the city, South Side and I remember walking to school, Holmes Elementary from where I lived on South Halsted St. Man, about a foot of snow and a line of kids bundled up, looking like Penguins walking to school. Where I live now, in the area known as Middle Tennessee, we get 3" of snow and everything comes to a stop, panic time, lol.

Chicago has enough salt on the roads to last a long cold winter. They have the rustiest cars next to Wisconson.

At least the cars in Chicago now have plastic bumpers to protect their "forward" stickers. seen one this morning at the I -74, I-80 interchange, it was in the ditch. wish i had had a camera.

Got a cell phone, it doesn't have a camera, it also doesn't do CPR, babysit my kids, have a pick up line generator, or a virtual dog whistle, and frankly if any of my family are birds i don't wanna know. It merely rings and i say "hello", ....if i damn well feel like it. ....i bought it after all for MY convenience, not someone else's.

Near Chicago---is the Rock Island prison--my ancestor--Cason died there--held by the Yankee soliders in 1861--the Civil War--Yankees are not welcome in Florida

Apparently you redneck Floridians have the geographical knowledge of hamsters. Your ancestor died there, yet you have no idea where "there" is! The Rock Island Prison was located on a island (hence the name...) in the Mississippi River, between Illinois and IOWA. In other words, clear on the other side of the state from Chicago. Florida not welcome in the United States of America.
