I am amazed at how the conspiracy theories regarding Sandy Hook are spreading like wildfire this time. I have seemingly normal FB friends posting links to the conspiracies. It is as if this crime was so heinous that people cannot come to grips with it and are frantically searching for alternate theories to cope with it.

I don't think "truthers" is the right word for these people. It implies they're trying to find the truth, when it looks to me more like they're trying to invent one. Perhaps we should call them "fictionalists."

I must admit that I am devasted that so many of my countrymen live with such medieval mind and spirit.

Here's a thought, if you think it didn't happen, then go too newtown and talk to the people who were there, who had the funerals for their children and claim the police that had to walk into the school and account for every child that layed on the floor in pools of blood, that the event never happened. On the day of the shooting, a guy that I know went in to a gun store to buy himself a firearm for Christmas--not knowing anything about what had happened in Connecticut, he just showed up to the store in Burbank. He found out about the tragedy there and ended up waiting for over three hours for service. People were on the same kind of mad buying spree that you see ahead of bad storms, buying up whatever weapons and ammunition they could afford. What is sad is that almost everyone rushing in there to buy weapons knew nothing about guns, and that's why it took my friend so long to get service; each person in that store, many of whom had never been in a gun store before, needed everything explained to them and were asking the most elementary of questions. My friend, by comparison, used to be an Army sniper and knew exactly what he was getting, and knows the laws and what paperwork to fill out, etc.

What is unnerving is that several of these ignorant customers were saying things like, "What were the weapons used in that school shooting? Yea, those are the ones I want!"

And you want to know the sad part? Every time I tell this, NOBODY BELIEVES IT. I get accused of making up lies whenever I relate this incident... so, yea, I kind of know how this poor grandfather feels about being harassed over the truth. Maybe because nobody WANTS to believe it... maybe because nobody understands just how ignorant and callous the average American can be. I'm sure the "truthers" would think it was made up, but it wasn't. What it IS, is a reflection of society today.

That is not to say that I can say that JFK definitively is a conspiracy, and Newtown is definitively not though both are what I happen to believe. Truthers, what a ridiculous name, these folks should be called what they are, troublemakers. Who goes after a person for doing something great for others in the middle of a tragedy. There is NO conspiracy with this kind man, it goes to show that GOOD PEOPLE do exsist in the world. There was one person responsible for these sick actions, and one person only, that was Adam Lanza. He chose to go to this school and massacre these sweet children and teachers, after having killed his own mother. There are some sick and twisted people who live throughout the world who wish nothing more then to commit horrible crimes and devastation. I cannot wrap my brain around any of this that has happened at this Elementary school, because it just makes NO sense that someone could be so cold and calculating. I do not for one second that this good man had anything to do with any of this nonsense that happened. He tried to do something good for these young children to comfort that during a crisis, Kudos for him and shame on those who are so ignorant to think this man had any evil part in this.

1. When any crime is committed there are a million biases thrown in for each person. A car accident may seem simple, but take it to the extreme and the complexity arrives, as for an example a truck full of neo-nazi's hits a truck full of cartel members in a downtown area. You'll get a million inferences from each person about what each person was doing, and sometimes they won't have even been able to see them. Their brain filled in the blanks (as a good brain does) and they literally have no idea they are not telling the truth.

2. There are tons of people who mean well but have no idea what to say. These people are not expert witnesses, they are day to day individuals. They also probably dismissed details before they knew they needed to remember information, add in a little adrenaline during what happens and the brain focuses on one thing: survival. It is not trying to remember 100 little details that may be important later, it is analyzing and acting to get things done (protect children, protect themselves, etc.). Then you get bystanders trying to give decent information, my creepy neighbor did something off, or there was this guy at the street corner that looked fishy. Some little detail stuck out to this person (maybe bias) and they decided to report that event, even though it may have had nothing to do with the event. Maybe a town drunk was being arrested, maybe someone was breaking into a store, or maybe someone simply was walking with their hands behind their back. That one guy walking with his hands behind his back (a habit of many groups of people from navy men, to other soldiers, or even certain cultures) suddenly 3 hours later a person swears they saw the glint of handcuffs, 3 more hours and they saw chains around their wrist and the person with a bloody nose. These random events make so much more sense when you add context. Just like Kennedy, those people weren't told to shut up or that person wasn't fired for random life reasons, it must have been this, it makes so much sense. That dawning realization you think your having is not figuring out the truth but your brain taking comfort in order. These people are trying to help but are just muddying the waters.

3. Then you have the paranoid crazies, they actually believe the entire world is out to get them. Every event of every day is a cog in the machine that is trying to do something to them. So they take the innocent, and some not so innocent mistakes of above and they form it into that picture that they know must be real. They put something together half convincing, editing parts together to prove a point and helping their audience make assumptions that lead to their "truth". Then there are those that follow along because it works for them, or maybe the "evidence" was convincing, or maybe it just fit their bias just right.

In the end the "evidence" the posters and many more have put up are sketchy reports from eyewitnesses that had no idea what was going on (as many initial police reports were based on). The media took off with it because they gamble every second the tragedy du jour hits the air waves. They work tirelessly to get the truth out first so they can get that glamour, that triumph, they shared the "truth" first! That is why they went to college! That is why they do what they do! That gets them ratings and does a public service! All the while at least 50% of the time they actually just perpetuated inaccuracies.

So, as rational human beings you have to make a choice, are you going to go with the information gleamed from hundreds of sources, from hard evidence that was put together for the days following this sad event? Or are you going to go with the information that was "leaked" (possibly made up for ratings or buy a lone crazy) to some producer who was too rushed to get more information on the air before they were able to confirm with another source because they wanted to be first?

I choose to believe the hundreds of law enforcement personnel, and hundreds of lives affected by this tragedy are being as honest as they can be, that every single one of them did not compromise all their morals for a few bucks (and honestly do you think the government could afford all that bribe money?), and that they are all innocently working through a tragedy then that they are lying for some type of gain (considering they are all political persuasions).

But please, proceed with your theory that there were more shooters because some random guy blocks away just happened to be arrested (possibly violating a safety barricade?), or was led away by police, because every single officer was somehow bought out.

Why should we tolerate "truthers"? Why not arrest truthers for slander and harassment and make them monetarily pay for their crime. Expose the "truthers" on the internet with their photo pic so all can see what a heinous, insightful, self absorbed individual the "truther" is. I bet it would clear the problem up immediately.

Its real simple, this guy is an actor and he is lying! Was anybody else shocked about the misinformation that came from the press that day? 15 years ago in Columbine you had better info , much sooner, yet here in the modern era, in the Internet age , we see nothing and get false info?

Ri Mom, why is it that liberals always find "names" for their enemies and try to humiliate them into silence? I know that there are many loons, on both sides, who say the craziest statements! The problem in this country is that we do still have freedom of speech, freedom of religion AND freedom to bear arms. I hear gun owners (I do not own a single firearm) being demonized for the actions of single individuals! I know the liberal mantra of "If it would just save one life wouldn't it be worth it?" and I still have the same answer, NO!

Our rights are not to be taken at the whim of the few who do not believe we have the ability to properly exercise them! As horrific as this incident is I find it disgusting that so many are spending so much time fighting about it. It seems to me that the bigger problem here is the lack of funding for mental health, affordable insurance for all and particulary for mental health, the lack of supports, jobs, housing etc.. for people with mental health issues and on and on. Why are the REAL problems being dodged???? Bans on this gun and those bullets etc.. etc.. are NOT going to make anything better. We need to be focusing as a nation on dealing with the deficits in mental health care and getting guns OUT of the hands of criminals. This man and his wife did what any decent human being would do...took in children, tried to comfort them while trying to contact their parents. Did anyone see his face or is there any video? Could someone or a small group have drugged him, dressed him up, then killed his mom, then a single member of the group went and committed the murders (still a lone gunman). Then the group (police) show up with the son, drag him in, and kill him?

I myself have previously corrected you on this lie you keep repeating about the AR-15 Bushmaster not being used in the school shootings.

Others have also corrected you, so you do know the facts... don't pretend you do not.

And we have even provided you links to news articles over the past 31 days with the facts about the four (4) weapons Lanza took to the school.

I provided you links for news articles which quoted the Newtown Police and the Connecticut State Police statements that all 20 children were shot multiple times with the AR-15 Bushmaster rifle (the Medical Examiner said the 20 children were shot with that weapon between 3 and 11 times each) and the police found multiple spent 30-round magazines along with that rifle inside the school. The police said more than 100 rounds were fired with the Bushmaster.

The weapon which was found in the car, the fourth weapon, was a shotgun. You know this too, but you just keep telling the same lie.

You know all of these facts, but day after day you repeat the same lies on Newsvine, dissembling for your own purposes and agenda. That makes you too an intentional liar. Own it!

The more I think about it the police do not even have to be involved. Supposedly the school shooter took his life after "hearing" the police coming. Unless he had on some sound canceling earmufs how would he be able to hear chit after just shooting all those rounds with a rifle. Go to a gun range without earplugs for example, then amplify that since it was indoors, and would have been even louder. There would not have been a way for him to hear the police coming unless they were yelling.

Maybe they did hear a gunshot, but the shooter could have already been dead and the last gunshot sound was a fake. Maybe the police did find the theater shooter outside waiting for them, but someone else could have done it and ran fled the scene. They are all possibilities.

This situation is going to turn downright dangerous fast. These gun crazies are often white supremacists and it's just a matter of time before they make an attempt on the president's life. I'm sure the security authorities are watching with horror as the internet and radio explodes with people willing to assassinate the president and anyone who agrees with him. or even looks like they might agree with him for that matter.

The POLICE VIDEO, not the articles, show the truth. The police video shows the "long rifle" in the trunk. The police scanner clearly said the car belonged to Christopher Rhodia not Adam Lanza's mother. Why would the news say there is no record of Adam Lanza for the last three years? It's on video. How can that be if he was on prescription medications? If Ryan Lanza said he had not seen his brother in three years, then how did Adam Lanza get Ryan Lanza's ID? That is on video. I don't trust "articles". I trust what I see. When I see things that are conflicting I ask questions.

The Newton Bee article stated that the "man in the woods" was an off-duty tactical officer from another town. That's odd...why was he there? Why did he have a gun? Why did he run? Why was he arrested? Since he was arrested that means that he wasn't supposed to be there and that the Newton police didn't know he was there as part of an operation. Why was he there BEFORE the Newton police?

Why would the Newton Bee post an interview with the principle of the school when the principle of the school was one of the first people shot? I read the article and thought that was quite odd.

The term Progressive is a self proclaimed accolade, used by people like Hilary Clinton. It is often interchanged with Liberal. And I agree 100%. Leave the Rosens alone. It seems odd that he didn't call the police until some time later, but I have never been in that circumstance either so I am not sure how I would react.

But the video does raise some questions. Not sure all are valid, but I doubt we'll get all the answers.

There's a simple answer for the discrepancies in the acccounts - it's something I've experiencd myself when I was younger. It's callled "Fog of School."

Have any of you actually seen both of his interviews? I wouldn't let that guy within 100 feet of my children. Can anyone tell me how those children got by the fire department and all the department members there without any issues. The fact that the children played with dolls at this persons house for 30 minutes before he decided to call the authorities concerns me, if it even happened.

But, here are some of the issues that bring this man's story into question: 1) why would a bus driver PASS the firehouse to drop 6 terrified kids off in a stranger's front yard? 2) why did Mr Rosen say at first that he saw a female bus driver with the kids, but in the next interview said it was a "man speaking in a harsh tone" to them? 3) it was widely reported that the 6 children who tried to escape ms. Sosa's classroom were tragically gun downed in the room by lanza, yet this man testifies that the children told him they couldnt go back to school because ms sosa was killed and they escaped. Is that odd at all to you? Those are just a few of the seeming discrepancies in this story, and there are many similarly odd things throughout this whole tragedy. In fairness, do you think Salon should have given its readers a little bit of the context for these questions, rather than pulling some irrelevant anti-jewish post in order to stir up rage and suppress any empathy?

Really?...so the news media never gets information wrong or given the wrong info? Stories like this can change 4 times+ in the first 48 hours...hearsay from 3rd party witnesses happen all the time, try not to "read" too much into it and try looking for the offical FBI report.

The reason guns with high capacity magazines are good is because I lived and worked in the country sometimes miles from any other human. I have been attacked by wild hogs one time and javalina hogs another time which are deadly in packs. A high capacity magazine is about the only way to save your life in instances like these. Giving your tinfoiler false narrative the attention of 'debunking' it piece by piece will prove to be an exercise in futility. Debunking the 'questions' posed by moon landing hoaxers, 911 truthers, birthers, etc proved to be completely useless as well, because in no way will that stop the same 'question' from being repeated over and over as some sort of 'evidence.' For example, the insistence that there is some sort of conspiracy because early news reports (clamoring to be first) put out the wrong information based off little more than hearsay - and were later shown to be wrong. Despite the fact that various news organizations admitted basing a lot of their early reports off nothing more than hearsay during a very chaotic time, you take that as some sort of evidence that there is a conspiracy... and will keep doing it until the day this conspiracy dies like all the rest.

Conspiracy theorists are a lesson in gullibility, they will believe ANYTHING so long as it suits their preconceived notions and automatically reject any evidence to the contrary as just 'more proof' that their conspiracy is real.

Frankly, this ridiculous conspiracy does not deserve one iota of the attention you are demanding it be given. Many of your so-called points have already been debunked repeatedly, showing without a doubt the lack of integrity the tinfoilers have in self-examination before presenting what they deem as 'valid' questions.

This is exactly the same dance that plays out over every hair brained conspiracy from flat-eartherism to FEMA camps. Validating such a conspiracy by giving it the time of day is a pure waste of time and only suits to affirm the paranoid delusions.

When "truthers" become bullies they are outside of the law on "freedom of speech" rights. I love to read the masses try to call the doubters nuts, mouth-breathers, and tin-foil hat people. I was devastated by the news of Sandy Hook when I heard it. I lived only an hour from the school at the time and have a ten year old daughter. It took an emotional toll on me. Like most Americans, I couldn't imagine this being anything other than what it appeared. Even when their were discrepancies in the initial eyewitness accounts I was not swayed from the official account. However, when Facebook began to suspend accounts of people who disagreed with the account I began to do my own research and began to discreetly poke around Newtown in person.

One discrepancy is a mistake...three is a pattern...there is a boatload of error in this chronicle. I don't presume to have a theory which is actually true. However, the ME's statement that all of the children were killed by the Bushmaster 22 that never made it into the school and is seen being pulled from the car (that didn't belong to the shooter) is too remarkable an inconsistency. Where there is smoke, there is fire.

I can't find half the people that were on the witness list. The odds in this day in age that the only witnesses we have are all off the social network grid is literally astronomical. The funds for aid for the school and the victims that went up days before the shooting isn't being discussed nearly enough.

The truth is, (and it is supported by the comments here) that most people won't believe that anyone could perpetrate this kind of misdirection on the American public.

@ IAmKurtacus - The only thing I have heard Mr. Rosen say was that he saw the children out in the front of his driveway and went out to them. They told him they couldn't go back to school because their teacher was shot. He took them in his house and tried to give them a sense of normalcy in the time they were with him. The six children got there on their own- reportedly led by one of the 6 year old boys who grabbed his some of his friends and said run. The fact they got out alive is amazing and the young boy displayed remarkable character and strength in getting himself and his friends to safety. They were 6- they didn't know where to go. There has never been any confusion or change in the story Mr. Rosen told. Only the claims that all these deniers are trying make. That you or anyone would dishonor those little children and those 6 teachers/administrators by trying to claim that the shootings were anything other than the tragedy they were- conceived by a sick individual- is a disgrace. Too many families have suffered greatly as a result of this horrible event and you step on their grief with your claims. I find people like you disgusting.

Please tell me how you came upon that knowledge as the man this article is about was first quoted as saying there was a bus with a female driver. He then states that he took the children inside and gave them juice boxes and allowed them to play with some stuffed toys. After 30 minutes he then called the police. I want to understand why these discrepancies in his version of events?

I am not a conspiracy theorist by any means and having children as well as grand children this trajedy was unreal. That being said Jacques does make some valid points which before you start bashing him you can look these things up for yourself. The information is out there, the pictures are from news networks, the audio is undeniable you just have to look for yourself. Why are the other suspects shown evading Police not being vetted? How come so many different stories being released, and some subsequentially buried?? The Handgun Discussion, as exemplified by NY States new 7-Round Clip Law, has been muted, for now, while the MSM constantly is barraging the viewer with 'Assault Rifle Ban' rhetoric, ad naseum. Not that I do not believe in a much too late strategy that deals with the proliferation of these arms already flooded across the country(read: it is too late to get them off the streets/homes/criminal hands/legal/responsible owners without Authoritarian Means/Revolution, unfortunately)...

So I cannot make the connections regarding the Truthers' questions here, and also understand the horror of those seeing the headline of this Article and immediately hating those that would dare accuse this Grandfather of harbouring Lies/Secrets instead of those six children. The Conflicting Stories presented by Tao's video may have validity, such as the time-line differential in which he says he saw the Body Count Report List before it was released, and the smiling "Are we ready to film?" guy, are presented in an out of context manner which may or may not have holes in it.

So those that will not disprove these assertions, or provide links to the contrary, or will not admit that 'getting into character' was not just made up by Tao, need to do so, because otherwise, click "Stop Following" and move along.

We are seeing a paradigm shift in this Nation, whether One wishes to acknowledge it or not.

I have personally seen the Hate for anyone with an opposing viewpoint, even when asked with civility by that holding the opposing viewpoint, tot he degree which verifies a resistance to use critical thinking and response over accusation of the other being, for example, 'A Truther', invalidating that persons offering without consideration in moany cases/instances.

Or for anyone to admit/disprove Grandpa's recount and the toys and story are a bit unusual?

Most of the unanswered questions seem to be related to the wild speculation of the press before the investigation was far enough along to figure out what really happened. And the investigation continues. One of the unanswered questions asks about drugs Lanza was on. It really sounds as if the question should be "what meds didn't he take?".

Behonest, I don't give a @!$%# about these so-called questions that are being asked. All I need to know is that 26 people, including 20 CHILDREN, were mass murdered by a man with guns.
