Where's Mitt? In warm, sunny California

It’s chilly on the Capitol steps today, but that’s no problem for Mitt Romney.

David Goldman / AP, file

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney on election night in Boston. He is spending inauguration day in La Jolla, Calif., according to an aide.

The former Republican presidential contender is spending Inauguration Day at his home in La Jolla, Calif., where it’s sunny with a forecasted high of 73 degrees.

An aide told NBC News that the former Massachusetts governor and his wife have "no big plans."

Asked if the governor was likely to watch the inaugural ceremonies today, the aide said, "Doubtful."

It’s not surprising that Romney is keeping himself far from the fanfare and tri-color bunting; he’s kept a low profile since losing the election in November.

Romney’s son Tagg told The Boston Globe in December that his father was never really all that into winning the nation’s highest office anyway.

“He wanted to be president less than anyone I’ve met in my life,” Tagg told the newspaper. “He is a very private person who loves his family deeply and wants to be with them, but he has deep faith in God and he loves his country, but he doesn’t love the attention.”

Yea they are trying to reinvent themselves and learn from the last two elections, I guess the first thing would be to make sure the man they pick to run really wants to be running America and secondly understands he has to be in the public. This stupid offspring of theirs is a moron and because of the silver spoon shoved down his throat hasn't learned to play well with others and lose graciously.

I think Mitt waited until today to submit those amended taxes for last year to include the millions in charitable deductions he left out of his 2011 returns so they wouldnt show him paying less than 10 percent in fed taxes.

Mitt is frustrated. The US media supported Obama. Obama comes from Chicago - 500 murders per year, 500 kids shot, tough -very tough- gun laws, 50% Black HS graduation rate, 20% public school students reading at grade level! The people elected the top politician of a massive failure. Obama has done nothing to address the Chicago violence and non-acceptance of education. The US news media loves the Chicago model. News journalists will be a little smarter than these drug using HS dropouts - but only a little. The US is still in the longest recession recovery in history. People are leaving Blue States to avoid fiscally irresponsible taxes to support morons! Obama is more likely to be impeached than praised in the next four years. I would hope that Chicago Blacks get tired of being murdered!

Michael 1949480 You can believe anything you choose, however winning an election means getting more votes than the other candidate, your comment has clearly revealed the lunacy that has taken over the GOP…they’re quickly on a path to self-destruction.

Yes, the genuine conservatives are outnumbered.

The GOP as a rule are not conservatives, and they are doomed. So are the rest of us as a result of the default of leadership.

The good Lord has in large part given the leadership in this country over to a reprobate mind. We are headed for a great depression this generation is woefully unprepared for.

Well, America, you voted for EXACTLY what you deserve as a nation. Bigger, more expensive government, providing a host of useless services, to those who will absolutely never EVER pay for it. Nice going folks. And as for Mitt, I too would have little interest in the affairs of a nation who turned their backs on financial repair and prosperity.
