Typo puts porn link into Chicago schools' email letter to parents

Oops. Chicago Public School administrators were apologizing Thursday after a typo in a email to parents sent families to an erotic website.

The message was supposed to direct parents to the Illinois Board of Education website, at ISBE.net. Instead, an errant "L" in the Web address ushered visitors to a "private invite-only space for women over 18."

CPS spokeswoman Becky Carroll said the error was unintentional.

"As soon as it was brought to our attention we sent out a letter with a corrected link, and apologized for any inconvenience it may have cause," she said, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The owner of the erotic site told the Sun-Times she did get some new sign-ups from the unexpected surge in traffic.

How many people today are trying to figure out what where in the web address the 'L' belongs? :-)

(I can guess but....)

Time to start purchasing domain names that are typos (I know some already do this and without typos by changing the type, WhiteHouse.com versus WhiteHouse.Gov) so I can prosper by the "surge in signups" :-)

Someone that says to protect the children from pornography is also that someone that refuses to tell children of reality and thus makes them ripe for being picked off by people who will be using their naivete against them and I can tell you numerous cases where this has happened, iamhis-heismine.

That probably interested the Chicago parents more so than the usual dribble they get from the Illinois Board of Education.

So why aren't suspensions and firings in order yet - you'll suspend 5 year old for being the children they are ?

Suspension for saying I am going to shoot you - with my HELLO KITTY Bubble Blowing Gun ?

Adults Link you up with and are not suspended for: Dick Shoots Jane with his Secret Weapon ?

If a student would have made such a mistake, many school administrators' "zero tolerance" policy toward such a thing would have required that they be suspended and have such an administrative action documented on their record--regardless of their excuse--to teach them, and the other students a lesson. Who will hold THESE people to such a ridiculous "zero tolerance" standard so that THEY can see what THEIR so-called "justice" feels like?

It doesn't really matter if they apologized. Who cares?! MANY times, students apologize for the mistakes they make, but are rigidly held accountable by these school administrators who insist that they MUST be suspended, in order to punish them and teach them some lesson--because of some asinine "zero-tolerance" policies. The standards should apply even to the adults--ESPECIALLY to the adults. They should be held to at LEAST the same standards the students are held to.
