Two men and a teenage boy were arrested in connection with a series of race-based attacks on an African American family in an attempt to drive them out of Compton in Los Angeles, sheriff’s officials said.
A group of Latino males who claimed to be in a local street gang used metal pipes and shouted racial epithets at a black man who had recently moved into the neighborhood, sheriff’s officials said.
One of the suspects, identified as Efren Marquez, 21, allegedly pointed a gun at the victim and threatened to shoot him while he was being beaten with a metal pipe allegedly by a second suspect, identified as Jeffrey Aguilar, 19, officials said.
After the attack, the group left in a black sport utility vehicle.
Marquez and Aguilar returned 30 minutes later with a group of up to 20 gang members, who surrounded the front of the victims’ home shouting racial epithets and telling them that members of the African American race -- using the “n-word” -- were not allowed to live in the neighborhood, sheriff’s officials said.
An unidentified member of the group threw a beer bottle through the front living room window.
Sheriff’s officials said the suspects continued to drive by the home of the family -- which includes four children -- several times a day, shouting racial epithets while ordering the family to leave the neighborhood.

Aguilar, Marquez and a juvenile were arrested on Thursday, said Capt. Mike Parker of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.
They face hate crime charges.

Compton used to be know for black violence and now this. How times change. When we have the M13 here it is a sign we are in deep trouble with a truly violent subculture, probably armed with guns Obama gave them via Fast and Furious. And no, not all Mexican people I have met a dangerous, quite the opposite, they are Christian (deeply so) and reserved. Granted that is not speaking for all Mexican people, but the majority I have met are very good people.....however, if you are illegal and have stole someones identity that is another issue and should be dealt with, but legally here on work permits, no problems.

Someone needs to point out to him that over half of all the gang members in the LA area are illegals and that they are responsible for the huge majority of gang violence in the area. These are the kids brought here by their parents that Obama wants to make citizens and the anchor babies of the illegals who sneaked across the border while they were pregnant to have their kids here. We need to stop granting citizenship to the children of illegals and fight against this liberal push to grant amnesty and citizenship to all these illegals. We are the only major industrialized nation in the world that grants automatic citizenship to the children of non-citizens and one of the only nations in the world that does so with the children of illegals. It is time to put a stop to this and put an end to the birth tourism industry that has been exploding in this country. We have a huge number of women from China and elsewhere who come to the US when they are 8+ months pregnant for the sole purpose of having their kids here so they get US citizenship. There are travel agencies whose sole business is arranging these trips, complete with transport to a US hospital to have their kid on the taxpayers dime. Is this some sort systematic invasion, or just another incident of interracial violence, such as has been occurring between various groups almost since the inception of this nation.

This nation has been here before, when the Irish immigration spiked in the 1840s, when Italians came in the first half of the last century, when the Chinese started arriving in large numbers. You are right about other mass immigrations, however, they assimilated. Current groups coming into the country are not due to the political correctness that has taken over the country. Some are even being allowed to live by sharia law rather than the law of our land.

john, Not instantly. It takes some time, though. In WWII, Japanese immigrants, some of whom had been here for a generation or more, were regarded as so foreign they were forcibly interned. As recently as my child hood Italian and Irish neighborhoods in my city were regarded as semi-foreign enclaves.
The Latinos are no different. Most whom I've known or work with speak English fluently, obey the laws and chew with their mouths closed.

I will agree that there are good and bad in all races, and that it takes time. The problem is there is no stopping the flow coming in from many parts of the world. We should never have been so tolerant as to set up schools in foreign languages. That only leads to perpetuating division. And we sure as hell should never entertain the idea of letting them live by the laws of other cultures.
A few years ago my employees were Latino, and yes, they were very hard workers. I don't care if it was politically correct but there was a rule. If I tell them what was expected of them in Spanish, they would reply in English. Setting up Spanish only schools is foolish, not even remotely asking them to try.
My more major concerns are some of the immigration from the middle east and northern Africa.

I think it goes back even further. We are now starting to see more reporters writing about every big or little event that is going on. Hey Dman, there is a HUGE difference between the immigration influx of the last two centuries and the invasion that is occurring now. Every other group of immigrants assimilated within a generation. The parents DEMANDED that the kids learn and use ENGLISH. They only used their native language at home, and the parents were embarrassed when they didn't know how to speak English well. The parents also required that the kids see themselves as Americans, not Italians or Irish. How many times have we seen Latino kids born in this country identifying themselves as Mexicans?
That is not the case with this group. They are refusing to assimilate and are demanding that their children be taught in Spanish even though not being able to speak English well will limit their children's ability to succeed. I lived next to a family of illegal aliens in Phoenix. Francisco was a really good guy, but spoke very limited English, his wife spoke virtually no English, and of their 5 children, only the 10 yr old could construct a sentence in English. Even the other school age children couldn't speak a word of English.

Compton is a shi*-hole, and has been for decades! Los Angeles generally is a shi*-hole too. Under the stellar leadership of the likes of "can't-put-a-sentence-together, dumb-as-a-rock Villaraigosa" and the other progressive-libs running the state, California, the once beautiful golden state, has become a cesspool of illegal immigrants, ridiculous cost of living, over taxation, and rampant crime.
I was one of the lucky one's that lived in a nice coastal city of Southern California for 50 years. But for about the last 30, drive 5 miles to the east, and it was a shi*-hole (Inglewood, Hawthorne, Compton, etc). So, I was smart. I took my pension and medical coverage and got the hell out! Why anyone would pay over 13% state income tax, 9.75% sales tax, all the other ridiculous costs of living in California, and the crime and degradation of the quality of life in California is beyond me.
The state has been ruined by the progressive liberals and sanctuary status of the state. It's such a shame as California has a lot of beauty. It just isn't worth staying anymore.

This is due to the street drug trade in Los Angeles. It has been going on for at least 8 years when La EME(Mexican mafia) green lite blacks in certain areas of LA that have high street drug sales. It started when a group of blacks ripped off a group of Mexicans(both group with prison gang, and street gang connections) for 1/2million in Coke. LA Eme green lite any black male(oddly wearing white t-shirts) in the LA area. It took an intervention by the LAPD to have the green light pulled, but the war(if you can call it that. The blacks are solely on the defensive) continues.

Most angles, right or left, seem to have already been discussed about this crime. I'd prefer to talk about the article itself. It is PATHETIC. When did the crimes first begin? We aren't told. Was there a report made when the crimes began to the LACSD? We aren't told. What is the racial composition of Compton? We aren't told. Is this the only incident of its kind, so far, or is this a trend we should know about? We aren't told. What about the other criminals, part of the 30 or so? Call if you have any information.
This would be a perfect time to disarm Americans. I'm sure the Latino gang members at the heart of this crime will be first in line to surrender their weapons.

Forget whether he was smart, or not, or good, or not. You claim he is stupid because he asked a student to spell "potato" as "potatoe". I'd say that was embarrassing, but hardly stupid. Stupid would be to criticize him for asking a student to spell a word in the way the card the teacher handed the Vice President said to spell it, but to not criticize the teacher. See, the VP probably gave it no thought one way or the other, or if he gave it a thought he figured he wouldn't be caught dead contradicting that boy's teacher.
And so people like you, and by that I mean people with small and ineffective brains, took a partisan angle over the gaffe. Which is fair, certainly by today's standards. But that teacher would remain in that classroom long after, teaching kids, and you don't care one whit about her. Was it a simple mistake? Did she do it to embarrass the VP? Is she competent in the first place? I don't think you care about those questions, let alone the answers to them.

Where once racially based gang violence was kept in check neighborhood to neighborhood by the gangs that ran a particular area, the insistence on profiling and arresting young Black men in droves has lead to a lower of the incidences of Black gang violence, and a proliferation of Mexican American gang violence. When the men of one race are taken away, the women and children are left to fend for themselves leaving them vulnerable to those who would then choose to take over an area that is no longer protected. It's now time for the police to clean house in the Mexican American areas to return a sense of normalcy. However, there are those of us who believe the LAPD is enjoying all this, and will only step up and do something if they are forced to.
That sadly is the difference between whites and the rest.
Whites have - all over the world - created societies that largely believe in and strive for equality. Most of western Europe, America, Australia, Newzealand for example.

What was Compton, You might ask yourself? Well, I am, for one. I'm 45 years old and when I was born, my parents owned a home in Compton California on Lime St., for accuracy sake. At the time, whites bought starter homes there, in mostly mixed neighborhoods, that were tree lined and clean. My parent's next door neighbors were black, Mr and Mrs Rice by name, they were an older couple. My parents were friendly with them and they even babysat me.
Compton WAS a nice place to live, once upon a time.
What is Compton now (and we left over 40 years ago, for the record), it's a ghetto filled with graffiti, and gangs. It's seedy and trash strewn. It's a place where you drive a little faster through and hope nothing happens to your car, and check to make sure your cell phone battery is charged and at the ready. It's full of store fronts with names in a foreign language you can't read, unless you're hispanic. It's got public Wic markets giving away free cheese, free food, free Christmas presents and people of color waiting to receive their freebie in long lines. It's a place where you see police cars and police tape surrounding the gang member who was murdered in a hail of gun fire. It's a place where prostitutes walk up and down Long Beach Blvd. at night. It's a place where if you get out of your car to buy gas, homeless accost you.
It's a place where hope comes to die...Welcome to my home town (although I claim Long Beach (which parts of isn't much better) as my home town because I've lived here most of my life).

1- The Mexicans you refer as Latinos, may not even be latinos. Latino are those ethnic groups descending from Latin (Roman) influenced regions. As such you can include Portuguese, Italian, some French, Romanians, some of the people in Southern Russia, etc. Those perpetrating the attack most likely are the descendant of the native population of Mexico. BTW, those of European descent in Mexico don't need to move to the US, they have a better living standard over there.
2- Maybe you want to infer Hispanics? And even that is wrong, because the term Hispanic encompass those cultures influenced by the domination of Spain, regardless of race or ethnic group. As a matter of fact, a person born in Argentina, is considered Hispanic, even when his or her family has Irish and Italian descent.

You are so right. Back in the 60's & 70's Compton was mainly black & you didn't go there if you were white. All this has come about because of our government. The kids are not afraid of the police or their parents any more. If you even look cross eyed at them now your abusing them & the state will come & take them or put you in jail. Discipline is non existent through the parents or the court system. I have met a lot of Mexican & Black families that are really fine god fearing families that are my friends. Well, I am a social scientist who specializes in multiculturalism, and you are somewhat correct. Some believe that only whites can commit racially based hate crimes, but that is actually not true at all. Racism and racially based discrimination can be committed by anyone. I live in Los Angeles and worked in the Compton/Watts area for as long as I have lived here (14 years). LA is one of the most racist and discriminatory places I have ever been, and that is saying a lot considering I am a black man from N.E. Ohio! The sad thing is that Blacks and Latinos here in LA don't seem to realize that we really should try to work together, because we are the two most disliked groups in Southern California. The Sheriffs Dept. and LAPD routinely stir up tensions between the two groups, just so they will kill and beat each other. I know that I am going to get a lot of flack for saying that, but in my work I have treated many black and latino males, some of them gang members. They all tell me the same thing. "Yes we have our beef with each other, and the police use that all the time to get info and cause problems between us."

It comes from those who want to save the world by destroying it when they quest for Utopia, a quest that can only be accomplished by turning effective systems that benefit the majority into pigeon-holed dictatorships that cater to the minority by seperating everyone into specific little groups who gain or lose favor based on a whim. For them, Utopia is about government controlled society because people are just too plain stupid to survive without a parent figure to do everything for them and correct them whenever they're wrong.
And then there's Compton where that situation is in progress, as it is in Chicago. Those cities are full of crime, filth, and misery. They're "Progressive", "Liberal", and "Utopian". Take a good look - this is the end result of the Left and they love it. It represents everything gone wrong, every failure of civilization, and to them it is the sweetest music there is. If only there weren't any damn guns, that is. For having the strictest gun control laws in the world, neither city can seem to prove the effectiveness of such legislation. For having all the enforced PC in the world, they cannot seem to end the racial and sexual discord. For having all the controlled dietary options and living quarter arrangements in the world (you know, those socially funded Projects everyone raps about?) they can't seem to create a stable equilibrium of peace and prosperity. If we ever need proof on the failure of Liberalism, here it is, a nova in the darkness to show us how Progressivism is a paradox. The only thing progressive about this place is in how the misery increases by the day.

Similar cases of ethnic base harassment are occurring throughout the western world on a daily basis, often ignored by governments and the media. People from one ethnic group in particular are really good at it, the Middle Easterners. Flawed immigration policies, pressure from minority groups on governments and a “complacent public” who ignore it by their silence are in main the cause of the breakdown in social harmony and tolerance.
In this case authorities must come down hard to ensure no one is in any doubt about the seriousness of the Latinos’ action. I hope that they remove them from the community for a long time and when they serve their time, resettle them elsewhere or send them back to where they come from!

historically speaking, when blacks became wealthy enough to purchase homes in areas in the united states (this was happening in many areas in the united states), whites started moving out of those areas and moved further away deeper into the suburbs. many whites did not care to live next to blacks and that is why there are rules about discrimination when it comes to housing because whites who made rules against selling to blacks caused the need for such rules.

Same thing happened in Phoenix Arizona. There were once middle class black neighborhoods in Phoenix. They were hard working people making a living. Then the illegals moved in. Slowly though crime, intimidation and violence the black families moved out. Leaving a neighborhood filled with gangs, crime, drugs , shooting etc.
Yet the black leadership in Phoenix continues to support illegal immigration at the expense of American blacks.
I will never understand how Blacks, for the most part, are so pro-illegal, especially poorer blacks. The illegals take their jobs first. When you have no entry level job, or work experience, how do you expect to obtain employment? Throwing out the race card isn't a viable option, any longer.

Each person has to decide for themslves what term they wish to use, if any. Just to clear up some confusion, it is usually ok to call a black person an African-American, it certainly won't offend anyone if you use that terminolgy. I would not suggest using the word negro as, despite what some, ok Anilof, actually think. It is outdated. I have never been to Africa and even though I understand that my ancestors are from there, I consider myself, for better or worse, to be American. But I can hardly deny that I am a black American due to the constructs this country has surrounding the issue of race. I would not deny it anyway, under any circumstance because it is who I am. I love me and love being black and love that I am American. It is America, or rather, certain parts of America that has issues with black people, regardless of where they are from. Off my soapbox now.

Hell, I had a limp and walking slowly in a grocery store parking lot, and yet this holier-than-thou black man takes his frustrations out on me when he couldn't park his car easily in a busy parking lot. Rather than getting in the way of 3,000-lb. vehicles, I hobble across the lane to a safer, easier-to-see location and this miserable jacka** has no problem lipping off to me. And then when I just walk away, the angry, miserable man continues to mock me, talk all "tough guy, I'm black and proud" BS as I cross more lanes to finally get into the grocery store.
And, strangely, I've noticed only older, pleasant black women are the ones who make eye contact with you and you can exchange pleasantries such as "excuse me, good morning, etc.".
Wake up and smell the reality of black America having two distinct classes: the educated/trying to achieve the American dream (a la Atlanta), and the rest of the ignorant, I don't know my daddy and I disrepect my mom and any other woman (a la the rest of America).
I grew up thinking the "n-word" should never be used, and there is no reason for it ever to be evoked. However, after seeing/hearing and dealing with the angry, miserable blacks in southern Georgia, I am now able to understand how anyone would feel justified to throw out ANY insulting descriptive term to the bad-attitude blacks that are so prevalent.

My experience is that it is NOT always acceptable to refer to a black person as an African-American, and vice versa. ALL black people do not have ties to Africa ( as Doomsbaby states), and ALL African-Americans are not necessarily black. I do not refer to myself as a "Dutch American", even though that's where my ancestry lies. I have never been there, and have no desire to go there...although I would not take offense if someone referred to me in that term. Until there is a universal term to refer to "people of color" (and I'm trying hard NOT to offend anyone here), I think I'll continue to refer to them as "Americans".

Beware the political "machine". For the incredibly blind (and there are so many), STOP believing what you are told to believe. The country is divided with 52% actually NOT in favor of Obamacare. We can all fight it all day long about whether or not Obamacare should exist and that will change nothing. When the taxes (oh, I'm sorry the PC term is now "Fees") actually take affect and the true cost comes to bear we will ALL feel that pain. However as we all fight about the virutes. or lack thereof, of Obamacare, I do not see any of our political representatives on the Obamacare plan. They have their own plan which is far better than Obamacare. That, of course is paid with the tax money we pay. So we pay for Obamacare AND for their superior health care which is not available to us. Obamacare is but ONE example, there are MANY more.
So while we fight amongst each other (as the political "machine" has us doing INTENTIONALLY), they do virtually whatever they want. They ALL belong to the elite "CLUB" (for lack of a better term) which does not have our best interests in mind. The politician is supposed to work for us but is is incredibly obvious that they believe we are working for them.
As always, to achive you political goals, the best tool is as old as man itself...."divide and conquer" and I must admit that our politicians have done a great job of just that. ANd we the people have allowed that to happen.
