Anthony owes about $792,000 -- most of it to her defense attorney, according to a Chapter 7 petition filed Friday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, The Associated Press reported.
She also faces three civil lawsuits stemming from the disappearance of her daughter, Caylee Marie, the Orlando Sentinel reported. The 2-year-old girl was reported missing in July 2008 and her body was found that December near the home of Casey Anthony's parents in the Orlando area.
Anthony was found not guilty of murder in July 2011 but was convicted of lying about the child's disappearance. She was sentenced to time served, and on Friday an appeals court struck down two of the lying convictions.
Anthony claimed that a babysitter had kidnapped Caylee, and a woman with the same name is suing for defamation, as is the former meter reader who found the body -- he says Anthony's attorneys damaged him by painting him as a possible killer.
The third suit is by Texas EquuSearch, a search and rescue organization, which says it spent more than $100,000 searching for Caylee.
Anthony's bankruptcy filing said she had only $1,084; here are her main debts, according to the Sentinel report:
- About $500,000 to defense attorney Jose Baez
- $145,660.21: Orange County Sheriff's Office
- $68,540: Internal Revenue Service
- $61,505: Florida Department of Law Enforcement
- $10,283.90: to the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation

Wow not one supporter for her on this blog, no surprise. Just remember, someday you or someone you know may be accused of something they really didn't do. Why are people judging her when the opinions of the jury found that she was not guilty because there was reasonable doubt? I hope none of these bloggers have to sit on a jury, because they will find the person guilty before hearing one piece of evidence. The jury found her not guilty because they could not prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that she was guilty. The justice and legal system worked like it or not. The justice system states that you have to prove that someone killed someone and it cannot be on circumstantial evidence or opinions. It is no surprise that she is declaring bankrupty and it means she will not be able to get credit for 7 years just like anyone else that over bought and could not pay their mortgage or creditcards. As far as movies and books, I am sure that she will have to pay her back debts if these things come to pass before given a check for income. Personally I think a lot more to what really happened is out there and she knows what it is. But that doesn't mean she killed her daughter either and all you haters and name callers are just bullies because your opinion was not confirmed by a guilty verdict. However, let me remind you that this country has to prove someone guilty without a doubt in murder cases. It takes strong jurors to stand their ground and interpret the law before delivering a verdict. Instead of condeming, why don't we support her and maybe she will eventually tell all of what she really knows in some book deal someday. My gut instinct says there is much more and she really is innocent. I can't prove it, but it is a gut feeling and maybe I am really wrong. The point is that the jury did not have the evidence to convict her and you would have done the same thing on that jury because of your civic duty to prove someone is guilty and just not assume they are guilty.
So let her tell her story for free for the sake of our ecconomic mis-fortune of her having to be soooo inconvienanced by her self-influcktded lies and dasteredly deed of .....wow...no understanding words to describe... what happened to her precious daughter and yes Cindy , George and Lee...Grandma, Grandpa and UncLee Yes..... All the jury members are looked at as complete morons here in Tampa and most of the world. Her own 4 year old kid "goes missing" and she waited 5 months to report it, after her mom called the police because she hadn't seen her granddaughter for 5 months. then that piece of crap lied about where she was for 2 more months saying she was kidnapped, all the while, out partying it up like it was 1999 with pictures to show it. no innocent mother would do that when their own kid is involved. if you think she is innocent then you are a disgrace to the "Mom" population.

You either did NOT read the details of the case, or you're as moronic as the jury that didn't convict her.
To "Mom in Illinois", the law says a decision must be beyond a "reasonable doubt". Reasonable is the key here. Just because a jury found her not guilty doesn't mean she is not guilty, it means she got lucky. Jurors are just people. They aren't experts, as illustrated by the recent Jodi Arias case in which Jodi and her lawyer have admitted in court that she killed her boyfriend (claiming self-defense). Instead of deciding if it was indeed self defense, the jury has been trying to find other possible suspects, asking questions about the whereabouts of the victim's roommates, etc. Not the brightest lights on the tree, and most of the world would argue the same about Casey Anthony's jury.
Mom in Illinois, your type of reasoning is what's wrong with our jury system. One should have a certain IQ to be able to serve on a jury. #1 There is a HUGE difference in REASONABLE vs. SHADOW OF doubt. #2 One can absolutely be found guilty on circumstantial evidence alone. ie-Charles Manson and Scott Peterson (two of the most notables) #3 This jury was presented more circumstantial evidence than most that result in guilty verdicts. The difference is the jury itself. One who can use their intelligence to connect the dots or one who seeks absolute "beyond a SHADOW of a doubt" hard evidence. I think this particular jury would have to have the murder on video to have convicted. Total injustice.
Most legal fees are bot forgiven in bankruptcy court(Subject to change in Florida who gives up anything and everything to C. Anthony.), thus..here are your cost Casey:

Casey Anthony is a piece of @!$%#. The jury may have found her not guilty, but we all know different. All of her lies, the fact that she didn't report her daughter missing for a month, and then they find that poor little girl's remains in a trash bag and thrown away like garbage.. Casey didn't report her daughter missing because she knew that that little baby's body would be decomposed, and the coroner would not be able to determine the cause of death.
They couldn't prove 1st degree murder, but they could have found her guilty of 2nd degree, or manslaughter! SHE IS GUILTY IN AMERICA'S EYES, BUT GOD IS THE FINAL JUDGE. CASEY WILL NEED TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR HER ACTIONS AND WHAT SHE DID. GOD WILL PUNISH HER FOR WHAT SHE HAS DONE.
She owes Jose Baez $500k? Baez should be paying her considering he exploited this disgusting babykiller and her family to win her case and instantly become one of the most highly coveted defense attorneys in the U.S. He was set for life the moment that verdict was read.

Yeah, Casey's innocent. And the mother really did search up chlorophyl and it came up chloroform on her comp because she was worried about her bamboo. All sane people search up chlorophyl being worried about our plants, not bamboo. Then our grandchild just happens to die soon later mysteriously. Also a babysitter who doesn't exsist, a job that doesn't exsist for like 2 years... Yeah, innocent as hell Mom in Illinois. Shame this wasn't a civil case and not a criminal case, there was more than enough evidence to convict her on People's Court of murder.

I thought she was loaded on money! She had an excellent defense team that put to the jury's head the difference between REAL FACTUAL EVIDENCE and SENSATIONAL CIRCUMSTANCIAL EVIDENCE!!! She should not have to pay the gov. [all those police agencies] anything. THEY were the ones that decided to go and prosecute her! It is the governments loss! They charged her for the investigation of the little girl not prosecuting her. After all, she sent them to a babysitter that didn't exist, to a job she didn't have, etc. Who waits 33 days before calling the police for help when your child is missing. Who parties like a whore when she is suppose to be "searching for the little girl"

I believe she won't be able to discharge those debts. 1st of all, debts for student loans, the IRS or back child support, etc are not able to be discharged in a federal bankruptcy court. I would think that the debts for her legal fees as well would not be able to be discharged - or for charges to the state.
Regardless, her life - as it should be - is ruined. She should take that $1000 she claims she has and move out of the country and go to Some other country where she can disappear...hopefully literally - just like her daughter did.
There is no way this women would have student loans.
Note to those describing Bankruptcy:
First, Chapter 7, is a total wipe out, of all debts.
Chapter 13, you repay, all your creditors, with weekly payments, and you are only allowed
a certain amount, out of your wages, to live on.
Chapter 11, is reserved for Companies who want to restructure
This person filed Ch.7, meaning that, after
10 years, she can rebuild her credit, if not sooner. These debts are written off, by her
creditors, or those she owes. I'm sure, that after what happened to her child,
not a day will go by, in her life, that she doesn't wonder, what that child might have grown
up to be, and in her old age, she will have no child, who will care about their aging
Grandparents, or their Mother. What goes around, always comes around.
She has already lost her ability to find a job, and there isn't a sane man in the world,
who would even consider dating her, or having a family with her. So, she may "party"
and try to appear as if she is "innocent" but her own mind won't let her get away from
her negligence, for that beautiful, trusting child.

Paladin, what you say is very true, except that Casey would not have been interested in finding her because she already knew where she was...since she's the one who dumped Caley's little body in the swamp. But yes, EquiSearch made a valiant effort in finding the child. And because Casey lied and KNEW where the body was, she should have to pay EquiSearch for wasting their time. They could have been out looking for someone who could have actually been found instead of going on a wild goose chase created by Casey Anthony. She owes so much to so many people, but she owes the most to poor little Caley. Too bad there is no way to repay her.

I can't help but laugh at this country we live in called America, land of the free and all. We have to file bankruptcy when we get too sick and can't afford the bills seems we even have to file bankruptcy when we are acquitted of a crime now too. In case nobody remembers this girl was acquitted (Found NOT GUILTY) why should she be responsible for any of the cost associated with law enforcement trying to pin something on her. I don't see how they were ever allowed to seek judgement against her when she was acquitted.

The costs are associated with the valuable time and resources she caused to be wasted on searches and official trips out of state caused by her lies to officials. They are NOT because of her prosecution and trial. Those expenses were wasted because of her lies and the money could have been used elsewhere, where they were really needed. She was found guilty of several counts of lieing to the police. The money is not for the prosecution but for the man hours wasted searching for a missing child that she KNEW was dead and in the swamp. If you call out the fire dept for a fire and there isn't one, you just wanted to see the trucks come, they will charge you for the costs of coming out. Same thing.
