Kevin Jones is accused of having intimate contact with a girl starting when she was 14.
A married father of two who coaches girls' softball is accused of having a sexual relationship with his teenage daughter's best friend -- a girl who looked up to her coach as a father-like figure, according to a criminal complaint obtained by NBC10.
Kevin Jones, 34, of Fairless Hills, Pa., northeast of Philadelphia, is accused of having intimate contact with the girl starting when she was 14, according to Falls Township Police.
Police say that Jones would text and Facebook message with the girl, whom he coached on the same softball team, the Levittown Bulldogs, that his daughter played on. The girl and Jones would tell each other that they loved one another and he would refer to her as his "baby doll" and she would call him "daddy," according to a criminal complaint.
Jones allegedly told the girl, whose father left the picture about seven years ago, that she could consider him a father. "I'll be your dad from now on and I'll protect you like I'm your dad," Jones told the girl, according to the affidavit.
According to the criminal complaint, the relationship between the two started in the spring of 2012 with "flirting" as Jones would put his arm around the girl and hold her hand while speaking to her. Over time, the girl told police that their relationship progressed, first to kissing then to sexual activities and eventually to intercourse about two weeks ago.
The affidavit said that Jones' children were in his home during many of the alleged sex acts. The girl, now 15, told police that all the alleged sex was consensual and that no drugs or alcohol were involved.
Jones denies any sexual contact with the alleged victim outside of hugging and kissing that happened only in front of the girl's mother. The criminal complaint states that during questioning Jones told police, "I don't know if she thinks I touched her, we play fight."
The relationship was uncovered after the teenager confided in her sister about the relationship and the girls' mother in turn reported it to Falls Township Police on Jan. 9. Around that time, the victim allegedly tried to warn Jones that her mother knew of their alleged relationship in a series of texts and Facebook messages that are referenced in the affidavit.
Those Facebook messages date back to June of 2011, when the girl was just 13, and include messages where Jones threatens to kill any boy the girl has interest in, according to the affidavit.
Police planned to serve a search warrant at Jones' home on Jan. 25, but around 2 p.m. the home burned down. Jones and his family escaped the blaze and the cause of the fire remained under investigation.
Jones was arrested Monday and charged with six counts including indecent sexual intercourse with a minor, statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors and related offenses. He was arraigned and held on $2 million bail, according to court documents.

Im not at all blaming the victim's parents but parents should keep tabs on their kids social media interactions - facebook and text messages to a cell phone. This could have been prevented had the parents of the victim checked into her life just a little bit.

Jonathan F - Agree 100% - How do you allow your 13/14 year old free reign on the internet. No, this is not the mothers fault, but is a good lesson to those allowing the same with their kids. Keep the computer in a family location where people are always around, and be open about checking up on their Facebook interactions (if you must allow them to be on FB at age 13).
I'm not saying this kind of thing didn't happen but life was a whole lot simpler back in the fifties and sixties. All of his families lives ruined because of a failure of one person. He should never be allowed to forget what he has done to that girl and his family.

In this case, it was a lot more accurate than it should be...this man exploited the fact that this girl had no father figure in her life, and attempted to gain her trust by playing that role for her - and continued that theme into their sexual relationship.

She had sex with 4 consenting adults. Kevin Jones raped a girl who had no legal standing to consent to sex. One is a case of improprities by a person in a position of authority; the other is a case of statuatory rape. Quite different as the teacher is not a child predator.

Rob, it is illegal in TX for a teacher to have sexual activities with a student over the age of 18, but I don't think it's rape according to the statutes.
Of course, anyone who has sex with, and is at least 2(or 1, I don't recall) years older than, someone under 18, is rape by statute, regardless of any perceived "consent" by the minor. So, if I have the numbers correct, a 17 y/o having sex with a 16 y/o is not rape--assuming it is consensual. TX lawyers, correct me if I am mistaken.

This girl clearly doesn't feel like anything is wrong. I had a gf 28 at the time i was with her, but she said she had sex at 14 with an older man and never had any issues come about because of it. Not saying its right to do, but should we really be causing extremely more harm to someone than they ever did? Everyones talking about how he ruined his wife and daughters life, but really doesn't that happen any time someone cheats? We don't throw cheaters in jail. It doesn't matter what the guy looks like. This girl didn't have a father, so he was probably the only male that took interest in her, promising to take care of her, protect her, etc. It's all about control with sexual predators. I'm hoping his daughter was not taken advantage of, also. If I were his wife, I'd divorce him fast enough to make his head spin (and all his other body parts, too!)
Unfortunately, when you're young like this girl, you believe a lot of things. He probably told her he "loved" her, which she believed.
This disgusting pos deserves everything he gets. The police don't know what the cause of the home fire was? Really? This guy may have gotten rid of some photographic evidence on his computer, but posting texts and, most likely, pics was absolutely stupid and obscene on his part.
I hope this girl recovers from this fiasco and can become stronger and wiser for it.

Forget the cathoilic church. Something needs to be done about all the pedophiles in the public school system. This is the 4th story this week I have read where a school employee is raping children.
In Texas, a teacher touching or having sex with a student, is considered a felony. It doesn't matter the age of the student.

After all everytime someone affiliated with a religious organization engages in sexual activity with kids, atheists call for the end of religion. If softball leagues methodically hid coaches and actively worked to stifle police investigations into the crimes, you bet that people would be against softball.
As it stands now, it's a coach that was caught and facing the court. The church however, has been methodical, dishonest, and almost outright criminal in it's role in criminal behavior.
Atheists don't call for an end to religion due to pedophile priests, but because it's a bronze age mythology and superstition and in the 21st century less and less people believe in *magic* and don't think that it should have any role in society, government, or law.

See, this is bad but I wouldn't have waited for the cops, I would have handled this quickly and quietly, all by myself. I am a single mom and I do monitor my daughter's FB, texts, etc. but these predators are everywhere and they are very crafty, well some of them. My daughter is my one and only priority. God forbid something like this ever happens to her, but if it were to happen you can bet your sweet ass it would be the last time this guy ever did anything again. These guys never change and they rarely get the prison sentence they deserve. 10 in the clip and 1 in the chamber are more than enough for me. If that makes me an animal, woof...if it makes me as bad as one of them, oh well, at least your daughter won't be next.
His poor wife and children, how devastating. They have literally lost everything but their lives. I think I would get a divorce as fast as possible, taking whatever money was left, change our last name and move as far away as possible. Remembering, of course, to terminate his parental rights. I can't imagine what "the best friend" is thinking about her friend and her father. I do hope for the wife's sake, the fire is ruled accidental so the insurance will pay out so she has the money to start over. My thoughts and prayers are with both of these families in hopes they can find peace and a the path to recovery.
We will now see if those who thought it was fine for the female teacher to bang her teen-aged student, also think that it is fine for the male teacher to bang his teen-aged player.
There's a lot more going on here than just adultery and illicit sex with a young teen. IF he's found guilty of the charges, death threats and arson might be a clue that this guy is a danger to anyone that he feels is threatening him. How many other children has he molested, raped or coerced???
The part that bothers me the most is that he will not get the same sentence as a woman. Women get a slap on the wrist for this, and he will do 20 years. Either give them all 20 years, or give them 2...just make it the same sentence.

A married 30 or 40 something woman in Florida had sex with one of her sons friends. His mother found out, she went to court, found guilty, and sentenced to 30 years in prison. Since she was out on bail awaiting her appeal, she and her husband and family "moved" to Canada, where she tried to claim asylum. The Canadians arrested her for "moving" to their country without informing the authorities, and the last I heard she was still waiting for her case to be heard. Her name is Denise Harvey.

The problem lies in the fact that the consequences for an underage male who has intercourse and an underage female who has intercourse are different. The male is in no danger of becoming pregnant and having the next 18 yrs of his life dedicated for him when he's only 13 yrs old.
HOWEVER! This guy is a creep from the word go. If 15 will get you 20, then 13 ought to get him 25-30. For being an adult, a teacher and a coach he still doesn't know jack squat about his students and players- or girls/women for that matter. This isn't strictly scientific, but I'll stand by it... Girls/women have a confession gene/trait such that whenever one has a deep, dark, dirty secret she is going to find someone they trust to tell all about it and have a cluck over it. Of course, that trusted person told the secret now has a secret of their own and needs to discuss it with HER best/most trusty friend and so on and so on. That this dope didn't know this or put the knowledge to practical implementation tells me he isn't smarter than the kids he teaches/coaches. I'm surprised it took 2 weeks to nail him once the secret was out!

@Merlin-420455, I have to disagree with you totally. First, the law is the law, and not written differently for the different sexes. Second, if the girl becomes a parent, so does the boy. In today's age, they are just as likely to get hit with child support, IF the girl pursues it. Your views are antiquated, to say the least.
Don't get me wrong, I think he is a creep. I just think that the women should all get 20-year sentences too, but all too often, they get off VERY easy, and that is not right.

I don't know about the specifics, you may want to provide support for your statement that women get off easier. Maybe incarceration rates and sentencing data for convicted statutory rapists, settled out by gender.
Now, on that note, judges are given some leeway in determining sentences. It used to be that they had all leeway, and could use their discretion to decide whether a person had shown true remorse and acted in a way which indicated no future transgressions, or had to be locked away permanently with no interaction with other people for the rest of their lives, or something in between. Now, federal sentencing guidelines, particularly mandatory minimums, have restricted that leeway, but have not done away with it completely. It may be that judges do show preference towards women offenders, perhaps because of sexist tendencies, perhaps because the women were better actors, or perhaps because they were truly convinced that the women were much less likely to serially offend than the men. I don't know, and I don't even know if there is a trend. But, my guess is that the answer lies in the data. So quit whining and do the math! (as my Physics teacher was fond of saying)

If he deliberately burned down his own home, then not only did he put his family at risk but others were also placed at risk, such as first responders, any possible good samaritans, etc.

And to the people that think all girls softball is school releated, it ISN'T. Southern CA has softball leauges going year around. When the girls get into high school, then they play highschool softball, thus earning scholarships to college.

Actually, more people here commented that that's the problem with gun-free schools: everyone knows where the "soft targets" are. Prayer in schools hasn't even been discussed in Connecticut since the early 1960s when SCOTUS ruled it unconstitutional. But hey, thanks for bringing up a 50 year old dead issue!

The term pedophile covers both heterosexuals and homosexuals that has a sexual relationship with a child (regardless of the child's sex). The term covers both. There is no "Heterosexual pedophile" or "Homosexual pedophile" as they are covered under one term. Trying to separate the two in order to try to make a point is useless when both are listed under ONE DEFINITION that deals with people who have a mental illness in being attracted to children. What many of you who try to separate the two don't seem to get through your head is that a pedophile DOESN'T CARE about what gender the child is. It's the act of having sex with them that gets them excited, not their gender.

I wasn't correcting you in your point and I agree that "underage" does not include all children as pedophiles cover pre-pubecent children. I was correcting John's misunderstood view point of a pedophile between a heterosexual and homosexual separation.
But as someone had stated above in the previous comments, this man may be an ephebophile (an adult who has a sexual interest in mid-to-late adolescents, generally ages 15-17 depending on a state's law stating when a teenager is legally an adult), but only if other victims come forward as proof that there were more than just this girl. I agree with you though that he is most likely an adulterer and made the stupid decision to take advantage of a girl who is incapable of understanding what was happening and that she was being manipulated for this guy's own personal wants.

I worked in K-12 many years as a Public Safety Officer so i know of what i speak.......No kid, let me repeat no kid can keep this crap secret, if you think so youre and idiot. No teen can keep anything secret for ten minutes, somebody will find out sooner or later. So DONT DO IT....its scummy and shameful. I did. For 32 years I never told a soul.....not even my husband later on. I finally told a therapist when the ramifications of it began to destroy my life. I deal with many other survivors and you would be surprised how many never told. It's amazing what these pigs will tell you to keep your mouth shut and kids believe it. Often they do not have the life experience and are not developmentally mature enough to understand how they are being manipulated. There is no one-size-fits-all answer with abuse. The layers are deep and numerous.

Why is this any different than when female adults sleep with 15 year old boys? Seems consensual and aren't girls hormones raging and don't they want sex at that age too? It's a brave new world, you can't have your cake and eat it too. If women want equality it also means coming off their pedestal with things like this. Give this guy a year probation like the women get.
I agree with respondents that this Neanderthal needs removed from society for the good of society. I have an observation on the subject of Female teachers have sex with their male students and the punishment they receive. You need to think about it - how many12-18+ year old males are going to complain about their female teacher having sex with them? My guess would be not many. Their parents and not the “victim” report most of it. When the male students involved are 17-18+ years of age, they know what is and is not acceptable and do they "really" suffer any "harm". At times the male victim refuses to offer any compelling testimony to justify a lengthily prison sentence. The female is given a "lighter" sentence because she is not viewed as a "predator" who could cause any real harm by having sex with her students. When it involves a male having sex with a female minor, the male is "always" viewed as the aggressor. It's not the male students complaining.
Interesting.. I know a kid who got his teacher pregnant. He was 17. She was 20 year old student teacher. She went to jail, had the baby in jail. He got the baby after she had it. She was released when the baby was 3 and they Married. The boy was 20 when she got out of jail.

The point isn't whether or not they complain. Many people who are abused don't complain out of fear, shame, or confusion. There is a huge double standard, not to be sexist, but mainly perpertrated by men who think they wouldn't have minded, so these young men obviously don't mind, either. There is a whole thing about influence, pressure, authority figure, etc which comes into play in these situations involving either gender. There would be a lot more outrage on these boards with situations involving adult men and teenage males, so there's the same double standard there, as well. It seems like if a straight male wouldn't have minded, it's okay, but if not, or if it's a teenage girl/adult male, then it's sick and wrong. Not promoting in any way any relations with underage anyone, just pointing out the indefensible double standard that's displayed every time one of these stories comes up.
How do you know a lot of 14-18 year old girls don't want sex with a young male teacher? Or for that matter 14-18 year old gay boys? What you are doing is simply using your bias and this BS sexual pedestal women are placed on to justify one form of molestation and deride another. Let's cut the BS women want sex, they have a lot of sex. A 15 year HS school girl banging her math teacher is no different than a 15 year old male banging his art teacher.
The only difference is the societal perception that women are more "pure" and should be held to this higher sexual standard, when clearly with 2 million abortions a year and most girls in HS having a dozen or more sexual partners it's all BS. Women need to let it go...

That's the thing, they've been loose forever, they just enjoyed the privileges of feigned purity and sitting on this sexual pedestal, it's all BS, and they need to let it go and society needs to stop affording special outrage for women in this regard. What the guy did was wrong, but there is something wrong when a woman does it everyone cheers and cracks joke, when a man does it he should be castrated and killed, it's no different at all.
As a male, if I was 15 and a hot teacher had sex with me, I'd think it was awesome. I'd think it was awesome when I was 15, I'd think it was awesome at 30, and I'd think it was awesome when I was 50. Just because others would be offended doesn't mean that I would be.
We really need to rethink who is a "victim". Some stranger can't proclaim that I'm a "victim" when I don't feel that way.
Really who is the victim in this situation...the guy who took advantage of a 14 year old girl? A young mind can be easily manipulated and cohersed into thinking what they are doing is okay, which is why we have laws that prohibit adults from having sex with minors. Not to mention, i'ts disgusting and weird. And older women who do these kinds of things are equally viewed as disgusting perverts. I've never understood exactly why a 40 year old would want to bang a teenager? Even if they're halfway attractive, they are still children!

You hit the nail on the head- NONE of this behavior is new and the ongoing double-standards and hypocrisy over teenage sex has to end. We need to accept the truths of the situation if we expect to actually fix the "problem".

Let me give you a hand in understanding.... When you buy a car you look for a newer one with the least mileage. This teacher/coach wanted some fresh poon so he targeted a fresh young female, most likely clean of disease, and with a short track record if she had a record at all. I won't get into the physical attraction part of it. Now do you see why a 30-40 year old guy might be interested in a teenager? A teenaged female, for her part, may want a father/daughter type of relationship so bad that she'll even accept a poor version of it. One need not over-think things all the time. Sometimes they are exactly what they seem.
Sorry Merlin, I'm not buying what you're selling. I like women as much as any man but 14-yr olds?? I had a neighbors 15-year old come on to me many years ago and she was absolutely stunning in looks. But she was still 15 and no way I was touching that. And no, I still don't see what a 30-40 year old man would see in a young teen. Are you making some type of confession??? :)

Granted that the (alleged) perpetrator's actions were creepy and distasteful, it puzzles me as to why he would go to such lengths to hide things after he's already more or less caught. My point is that a statutory rape charge carries a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in PA, but with a decent lawyer and no priors, he'd probably get much less than that, and it seems insufficient motive to burn down the house. So, the question is, was he doing something else, in addition, that he needed to hide?
I'm guessing child porn. Maybe he had pictures of him molesting the girl .... and/or others.
This guy should be in prison for life.
