Woman in Brooklyn ER molested by another patient, authorities say

A 27-year-old woman at a Brooklyn hospital was molested by a fellow patient previously convicted of sex abuse, authorities said.

The woman was in a semi-private section of the emergency room at Kings County Hospital when she woke up to find the man molesting her, investigators said.

Gregory Campfield, 52, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor charge of forcible touching. It's not clear if he had an attorney.

A spokesman for Kings County Hospital said in a statement, "Security was immediately alerted, and the male patient was turned over to the NYPD. We are ensuring the patient is receiving all the care and support she and her family need."

Anybody else see a problem with that only being a misdemeanor?

Umm, Mr. X..... I'm sorry but when ever you touch a person in or on their sexual organs with out their consent, is most definitely considered rape.

If some dude walked up to a child and started yanking on his boy parts, you wouldn't consider that rape? Give me a break.

The way I see it, when people post their thoughts, you can figure out their personality and lifestyle.

That said, I figure Mr. X gets dumped on a daily basis. That is, if he's old enough to even date which is another observation of his posts.

If buck thinks Mr.X's comments are funny, he is just as sick.

And this episode is why sexual deviants should never be allowed to be paroled back into society. They cannot be "cured" and they do not "learn their lesson" and they do not "feel remorse" for their deeds. They simply go back out and do it again the first chance they get.

This is what happens when you have a President (Clinton) that tells the American people getting blow jobs are not have sex. This guy will probably get off thanks to our low moral behavior attitudes. There is a male nurse that was arrested a few weeks ago for having sex with a dead woman in the morgue of a hospital. He was charged with a felony. Lock them both up together for the rest of their lives and let them keep each other company.

If he gets a light sentence, it will be because the American justice system does not take sex crimes seriously enough. That has been the case for a long, long time, certainly well before Bill ruined Monica's dress.

Sex crimes are only taken seriously when they involve males because men feel that females were put on this earth specifically for them to have sex with.... that is their purpose in life.

Show me a judge who isn't either having an affair or sporting a trophy wife on his arm.

Only gets taken seriously when the victims are men? What possible world do you live on? How about when male teachers sleep with female students everyone wants their balls, but when a female does it, its considered no big deal. Seriously, we take female abuse way more seriously. Get off you feminist soap box and come back down to reality.

Hmmm...I smell a lawsuit coming because clearly this hospital should have done an extensive background check on every single person who entered the ER that night, and then posted a security guard next to each individual patient the entire time they were there.

And, of course, the prosecutors will have no problem loading the jury with liberal idiots who will award this woman millions of dollars, thereby causing insurance companies and hospitals to raise their fees and causing the rest of us to pay even more exorbitant fees than we already do.

See how that works?

Mr.Burns..

For centuries the catholic church had priests who molested young girls and the wives of their parishioners. But it wasn't until the news broke that young males were being molested that an uproar swept round the world and would not die down.

There are untold thousands upon thousands of children whose paternity could be traced back to that pedophile cult, but every time a comment or joke is passed about catholics it is male children who are the subject of the comment.

And like you, I am thoroughly disgusted by the female teachers who are given a pass for having sex with their male students.

When the city is working with the hospital to try and help keep the charges down to something that won't make the upcoming lawsuit seem so bad.

If there is no insertion, it can be considered a misdemeanor. Rape is only with penetration.

    #3.2 - Thu Jan 31, 2013 11:32 AM EST

"Assaulted" sexually, even if only forced fondling is a misdemeanor? I would think it's a little like a physical assault with "I did not mean to hurt the person" rationalization. Doesn't make sense to me.

We pay for it all by charging the pervs who did the crime, Why should any taxpayer have to pay for someone else incarceration when they the perp broke the law? Its that easy.

I am a nurse. Things get totally crazy in big ERs, thats just the way it is. One night I came onto the floor of our regional trauma center and looked across the large room. Bays all full, people screaming and crying, staff bent over stretchers. And there in the back corner was a naked guy making coffee. No one noticed.

Bob, if she had a gun and blew him away then she will have a hard time winning a lawsuit against the hospital. Is sexual touching such a big dea? Maybe he just grabbed her tit. She'll get over it especially after she gets a healthy award. Maybe the court will allow her to kick him in the balls. That seems more appropriate.

I agree with you it is the People not the system. My mother is an ER Nurse and between dealing with life and death situations you have an idiot show up because he has athletes foot and has for 6 months but decided today would be the best day to go the ER, true story. People need to understand the meaning of the word "EMERGENCY".

                        #16.2 - Thu Jan 31, 2013 11:56 AM EST

I'm not fat, and I also don't seek drugs. I've rarely even had aspirin. I can name 3 times where I used medicine in the past 12 months... 2 times peptobismol because I had what was probably a norovirus and once a week ago I had a horrible headache that my usual ignore-until-it-goes-away method didn't work for.

I've been to an ER for myself twice in my entire life: once as a kid with a corneal scratch on my eye, and 2nd suffering from a rather nasty case of diverticulitis.

As far as complaining about "the people", seems to me that the people running the system are also "the people".

As far as how it should be run, perhaps by people who have actual organizational skills. I tend to be more impressed with positive results than I am with attempts to evade responsibility (which is also endemic to American culture)

Execute a hundred thousand criminals a year and crime would go down, not to mention decent people could rest easier.

I wasn't exclusively refering to sex crimes when I suggest 3 strikes and you're dead, nor to the fact that sex offenders often have been doing it for a long time before they get caught.

... you do realize it's a hospital and not a sheriff's dept right? Fool.

You do realize that they dont have to say whether or not they are sex offenders when they go to a hospital right? Seriously, dont be so ignorant next time you type something.

Folks like Boderlands probably want all criminals branded so they are easily identified.

Was he the hospital chaplin? Diane- he got that far because most hospitals are run for how much profit they can make the investors, not for quality. If it wasn't a priest, it most likely was one of the Doctors. Both think they are above the law.

This happened to me but by a hospital staff member. I was so severely ill, I could not respond. I was so out of it, I thought he was coming to check my vitals, etc. It was until I was out of the hospital weeks later and realized what happened. I didn't tell any authorities as I could have only told them he was a mid 20's white male.
