'Today's Blue Light Special': 10-pound bag of pot

Police in Seattle are investigating how a large package of marijuana wound up being delivered to the stock room of a local Kmart store.

Police said the package -- 10 pounds of marijuana wrapped in garbage bags and encircled by packing peanuts and pages from a Korean newspaper soaked with cleaning fluid -- arrived at the store shortly after noon Monday.

Delivery information on the package shows it was originally to be shipped by UPS from Los Angeles to Philadelphia, police said, but it never made it to the City of Brotherly Love.

Instead, the return address was to a longstanding Kmart in the north end of Seattle.

Store employees called police, and the marijuana was placed into evidence.

“Today’s Blue Light Special: 10 Pounds of Weed,” quipped the Seattle PD’s blog headline announcing the marijuana’s seizure in an obvious joke on the chain's venerable in-store sales gimmick. A call to the Seattle Kmart's manager was not answered.

Though owning pot is legal in Washington state, that big of a stash wouldn’t appear to pass the legal sniff test.

Voter-approved Initiative 502 makes it legal for anyone 21 or over to possess up to only an ounce of marijuana, 16 ounces of “solid marijuana-infused product” (pot brownies, cookies and such) or 72 ounces of “marijuana-infused liquid.”

Washington’s Liquor Control Board is working on rules to implement the state’s new recreational marijuana law and faces a Dec. 1 deadline.

I'm sorry, but you seem to have already ruined your life and probably many other people's lives.

The Democrats are building their pathetic and weak voter base from the folks that buy into the "its okay' crowd..... I wish your state well in the next decade or so..... Dumbass employees - why did they even tell the manager? They could have hooked the whole staff up with free stash. Now all of that good pot is going to be wasted.

I wish Iowa would get off their (political) asses and simply legalize like Washington. Now, there's word there's a bill being introduced that would make it legal ONLY IF you were terminally ill. WTF? What about people suffering chronic pain? What about people who are ADULTS and totally capable of making their OWN DECISIONS - not having to put up with a fk'd up government who has taken over the racketeering responsibility of deciding for us and if we get caught - it's the PRISONS FOR PROFIT! And a destroyed life by the THUGS in our government. I mean Gawdam...our government is WORSE than the mafia ever was during prohibition!

Back to Iowa...we know where the loyalties lie. O'le Terry Braindead vows to veto ANYTHING pot related but he was immediately approving of butt-sex marriage. Wouldn't even put it to the people for a vote.

Our once great state has sold out.

You know it's odd that, that package arived at k-mart, wrapped in korean news paper whos to say korea wasn;t behind this. Who can say...? Instead of a package of weed it wont be something worse. Terorists are smart. They plan ahead. If they can import weed thay can import bombs.!

I was thinking that type of thing too! Why soaked in cleaning fluids? What's up with that? Definitely important to find out what the deal was here. All kinds of jokes and people all for pot, but this might be more serious than people are realizing. I'm glad the employees called the police. Used their common sense on that decision! Needs to be followed up!

This was funny, or rather , fun to read till everyone got into politics and laws concerning this crap, we have enough problems with alcoholics, now the government is actually thinking about legalizing pot, soon they won't make enough tax money on that and they'll have to legalize cocaine , where in the hell does it stop, oh yeah, when all of america are brain dead zombies and no one can work anymore cause they're all home getting high! Now i know why this world is about to end.

If you paid any attention at all, you'd know that the insanely unresearched drugs being prescribed to children when no long-term affect research has been done if far more dangerous than any pot will ever be.

Why don't you look at what is legally being done before you look at some weed.

Alcohol is far worse than weed also.

Please do some research and educate yourself.

@Luvmypugs, isn't it time you take your prescription drugs now? Afterwards I'm sure you will take a very lovely ride to the pet store.
