Police said the shooting was related to gang and drug activity and was not random.

This has nothing to do with an assault rifle ban or a high capacity mag ban.

Austrailia has banned guns. Guess what happened.

Armed Robbery increased 69%

Assault with a Gun increased 28%

Gun Murders increased 19%

Home Invasions increased 21%

I think that the people who promote taking your defense away from you should be held accountable personally as an 'accessory to the crime' and tried in both civil and crimminal court.

People in the Midwest and the South were scorning a journalist in Los Angles who, twenty years ago, predicted that the drug business and drug cartels will be moving further north and into the Midwest and small town USA. He has been proven right. Gang violence and cartels are moving to places that offer good coverage, and speedy get away. American Midwest, that have a few big cities with good airports, and the Canadian plains or frontier, are now the "it" places for gangs, cartels, drug trafficking and other nefarious activities. Anglos there, who were mean to good smart caring social workers and educators of color (with excellent qualifications and insights), can now welcome their new world. Here area few facts that will undoubtedly have me branded as a racist or deeply prejudiced person, think what you will but the facts do not lie. Chicago 2005 451 murders. 88% of the offenders had prior arrest records. 77.4% were committed by blacks. 17.3% by hispanics. 5.3% by a group classified as white. 75% of the killings were committed with a firearm.70% happened between 7pm and 5am. Since tougher gun laws in Chicago have not stopped or even slowed down the death toll lets try something new. Ban blacks and hispanics from the streets between 7pm and 5am. That will cut down the murder rate by 94.7% and maybe then Chicago police will be able to get a handle on the other 5.3%. Since i know this will never happen then the next best solution is to concentrate on the groups that are responsible for the most crime. This is not racial profiling it is again just a fact. Gun laws have not slowed the killings,remember 88% of the offenders had a prior arrest record. Do not argue with me argue with the facts.

Tell me again, why would the rest of the country want to follow in the obviously ineffective foot steps of Chicago? That gun control thing really works huh?

IT was gang related, and no innocent bystandards. Who cares the bad guys shot other bad guys. Let them weed themselves out.

All these wars/witchhunts have done nothing to curb use and only end up costing us tax payers more money. I'm tired of watching my hard earned money go out the door to promote these things when they are not useful at all.

How NBC spins their stories makes me sick..No doubt that there was another gang shooting but they had to say "10 to 14 bullets in their head lines'...yeah sure....could it be they picked this number because of the ammo magazine size in being debated ?? I doubt anything the liberal biased NBC says and so should everybody else,and even if it's true I still doubt them...They deliberately edited the Newtown video of the dad whose son was a victim .. NBC/ MSNBC said pro gun advocates shouted at him...and that was proven to be a lie..something that NBC is good at. They have no shame and cannot any longer be considered a legitimate news source because they'll take a story and twist it to make it fit their liberal agenda and this is called propaganda.

This story sounds scary. We should take peoples guns away. Not all their guns because we dont want to take their guns away. We just want to take the ones away that we dont understand and have 0 knowledge of. Because they are scary. Like this story. Really scary.

Well for one thing until the media started telling us how many people were killed by guns, the American people had no idea how many people were killed this way. If we don't know the facts, how can we care? The question is do the American people care? From the TV videos, the NRA leaders sure don't.

And secondly, don't you think it is odd and strange that our Founding Fathers wrote into the Constitution the right to bear arms and destroy the very government they created. Why do Americans want to destroy the government of the USA when we say to the world we have the best country in the world? We picked our government through elections. We just had an election....you voted for the people in Washington. If you don't like them, why did you put them in power?

@iknowzero actually the Tiahrt amendment was rightly intended to keep the PUBLIC from accessing the NICS data via the freedom of information act. Otherwise every kooky anti-gun group would be able endlessly hound gun owners. It also prevents civil actions, which have nothing to do with criminal prosecutions. this is just another red herring to try to protect King Obama from having to step up.

Information from NICS should be destroyed once a "proceed" has been issued. It's the denied attempts that need to be prosecuted. And it's perfectly well legal to prosecute them using the signed form 4474 from the denied purchase attempt. That form is not protected from being used in a criminal prosecution. I call BS on this one.

Let's hope all gun killers go to Chicago; then maybe they will learn that it is not a gun thing, it is a cultural thing. Chicago has been, and possibly still is, the most corrupt city in America. If things weren't so corrupt there, gangs would not thrive.

WOW!! someone must have failed to inform them that they where in chicago and using a gun to kill someone was illegal. should we all send email or flyers or something? maybe a big "Shooting people is illegal" sign would be informative enough, (make sure it is in spanish instead of english since that is the "new" national language).

Again in Chicago with some of the toughest gun laws - related to gang and drug activity - are you people at MSNBC so stupid that you think this supports the anti gun agenda? I like how you now start to report how many rounds were fired to build support for the mag limits. Idiots - its the criminals who are shooting up Chicago and any gun bans or more gun laws in a city with some of the strictest laws already on the books isn't going to stop this! How about enforcing the laws already on the books there, clean up the gang and drug issue and you will see shootings dramatically decline in Chicago - of course putting them in jail will reduce the Dems voting block.

This happened in one of the most heavily gun-regulated cities in America; and politicians and Americans expect a federal gun ban to do what exactly? Chicago is living proof of the impact that a gun ban has. The BEST case scenario is that it has zero impact, the most likely is that violence will increase, as it did in Chicago, as it did in Australia, as it did in Europe. What is it about Americans that makes us think that a national ban will do anything different?
