Cops: Crack rock found inside baby's sock during Florida drug raid

Joseph A. Cmehil, Alisha D. Herrmann, and Rodney D. Rogers were arrested after a raid on a drug house in Port Charlotte, Fla., Jan. 31.

Three Florida residents were arrested after authorities raided a house and discovered a trove of drugs, including a rock of crack cocaine inside a baby's sock, police said.

Charlotte County Sheriff's Narcotics, Street Crimes, and K9 Units investigators also turned up $3,126 in cash, 190 grams of marijuana, cocaine, and a stolen .25 caliber Beretta handgun, according to a police statement.

During the Thursday raid, sheriff's officials also found a supply of drug paraphernalia and preparation materials, including two digital scales with cocaine residue, one grinder with marijuana residue, 1,000 small plastic baggies, and a homemade smoking pipe.

Rodney Dewayne Rogers, 42; Alisha Denise Herrmann, 22; and Joseph Alan Cmehil, 50, were taken to the Charlotte County Jail, where they were each charged with possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, and possession of narcotics equipment. The investigation is ongoing, police said.

Rogers and Herrmann are still in jail on no bond due to prior felony convictions in narcotics. Cmehil posted a $4,500 bond and was released, according to a police statement.

Rogers has been booked in Charlotte County four times, while Herrmann has been booked nine times, according to police records cited in the sheriff's statement.

The Drug War: Nothing but an economic boom for law enforcement, courts, lawyers, the criminal justice system, and the private for-profit prisons - does absolutely nothing for removing drugs from the streets.

Maybe not, but if it can remove cocaine from a baby's sock, it has accomplished something. I think powder cocaine can be absorbed through the skin, don't know enough about crack rocks to say . . .

The baby was probably not WEARING that sock, though.

How can a 22 year old get arrested nine times? What is wrong with this girl and why does she have a child?

You need a licence for everything except child rearing.

mess like that should not be allowed to breed. By order of the courts they should be fixed. If they can't take care of a child properly then they should not be allowed to make one. TRASH.

          Remove the child immediately.

Obviously the parent is not capable of making responsible decisions and this child needs to be taken away. Don't wait until it is abused, neglected or ends up in a porn video for crack money-please. I mean, every parent knows that babies pull their socks off and drop them all over the place...what idiot would stash their drugs in a babie's sock?--you'd be bound to lose it. Clearly this woman is TOO STUPID to raise a child.
