A pregnant prison guard has been arrested for allegedly having sex with a convicted cop killer serving time for gunning down two NYPD detectives on Staten Island in 2003, sources familiar with the investigation tell NBC 4 New York.
The 29-year-old Bureau of Prisons employee, Nancy Gonzalez, was arrested Tuesday at her home on Long Island. Sources also tell NBC 4 New York that both Gonzalez and Ronell Wilson have made statements to investigators saying that the baby is his child.
Gonzalez is eight months pregnant. The charge is unlawful sexual abuse on a ward; it was not immediately known if she had a lawyer.
Court papers say that in a recorded call to another inmate at the federal prison in Brooklyn, Gonzalez allegedly said, "I took a chance because I was so vulnerable and wanted to be loved and now I am carrying his child."
Gonzalez allegedly said during that same December conversation that she "kind of got sucked into his world" and that she "felt like, well, why not give him a child as far as giving him some kind of hope."
Wilson was convicted in December 2006 of shooting detectives James Nemorin and Rodney Andrews in the back of their heads in a car March 10, 2003 on Hannah Street in Staten Island.
Authorities say in court papers that Gonzalez engaged in the romantic relationship from March to August of last year, and that she is seen on video in the federal prison spending several minutes at a time with the inmate in a vacant activity room.
Court papers also say she is seen on video standing at his cell door for "lengthy periods of time while the other inmates are locked into their cells at night."
During another recorded conversation with the other inmate, Gonzalez allegedly said she "just basically got wrapped up in something that I should not have got wrapped up," and described Wilson as an inmate so high-profile that "when he farts it makes the news."
She also allegedly expressed fears about what she would say to her future child about how he was conceived.
"I know what is going to be said about me," she said. "I know that for me as a parent, how am I going to explain this to this little boy? ... Mommy got wrapped up ... And then the opposite end is with a person who took lives. So how do you explain that?"
Investigators first learned of the alleged relationship from other inmates, who told them they could see Gonzalez and the inmate "hugging and kissing" in the activity room.
Another inmate reported that he also saw the inmate standing at his cell, with the door propped open, exposing his genitals as Gonzalez left the cell, court papers say.
After receiving the tips from the inmates, investigators began reviewing video of Gonzalez at work.
Investigators say the relationship between Gonzalez and Wilson ended in August, and that she became involved with another inmate in September, telling him in recorded phone calls the details of how she became pregnant by Wilson.
Wilson was sentenced to death in the killing of the two police officers, but the sentence was thrown out in 2010 by an appeals court.
A new jury must decide his fate. But the trial's penalty phase has been put off as Wilson's lawyers seek to convince a judge that he's ineligible for the death penalty because he's mentally disabled.

If justice existed in our system of law he wouldn't be alive to breed. Hopefully the child will be removed from the mother and adopted by someone who can teach it to be a decent human. Otherwise it'll be just the next generations of future inmate. Produced by trash, then raised by the taxpayers.
I had the pleasure of dealing with Ronell when he was in NYC custody. He is an extremely slick & manipulative POS. I was very pleased when the feds took him. Mainly because he was eligible for the death penalty, where NY had already decided against it. No one should have been dealing with him one on one, not that it excuses her behavior. If you want to be a professional, act like one. She wasn't the first and she surely won't be last CO to fall under the spell of an inmate..
The woman is an idiot. She'll lose her job of course, and the taxpayers will foot the bill for raising the child, unless the state removes the child from her possession and puts him/her up for adoption, which would be best for the child's development and chances for success in our society, although I don't know if the state can legally take the child. It's not the child's fault and the child should have the same opportunities as other children. I can't picture this woman as a responsible adult.

While not a frequent issue it happens often enough that perhaps women guards should be limited to positions that prevent interaction with the inmates when working on male wards. Because when this does happen it affects sooo many innocent people and most importantly it puts everyone at that prison at risk. In addition to all the issues this little boy will encounter from his mothers and fathers choices; this woman is 8 months pregnant and has just lost her job and medical coverage. Sad for all involved and steps should be taken so it can never happen again.

Simple question: What were the other Guards (you know, the ones sitting in a bullet proof, sound proof room watching live video streams from ALL of the facilities cameras) doing while this was going on?
And tax payer dollars go to house hardened criminals while the Corrections Officers sit back and watch (or ignore) a crime taking place. And the Corrections Officers also commit the crime! What a life: get paid to watch guys and have sex and get pregnant and then you are put in jail on the taxpayers dollar! DAMN!

I worked in a California correctional facility for 27 years and saw this happen scores of times Nothing new to a hardened vet like me, but for someone who is not privy to what goes on in the joint, it can be somewhat of a shocker I guess. For some of these low life b!tches it is intrigue and the lure of "maybe I'll get caught with him" mentality that is the turn-on from what I've heard from those who were busted with a low life(inmate). It's one of the main reasons that no female should be anywhere near the inside of a men's adult prison. Women's lib/feminism initiated this and now the rest of society will pay for a potential lawsuit by the low life. Yes, he can sue. She can also be sued in civil action as well. I, for one, hope that both legal actions take place. But, not only can she be sued but she can also join the other low lifes on "the other side of the fence" so-to-speak. I hope this takes place as well.
On a serious note. It is a shame how far ignorance can go, but being ignorant is not so much a shame, as being unwilling to learn. Hopefully she learned her lesson for the child's sake

WTF is wrong with some of you women?! If you want a kid then there are plenty of guys in bars that will screw you. You won't lose your job and go to prison either. And I know this will sound sexist but women guards should not be with male prisoners, just as male guards should not be overseeing women prisoners.
