Updated at 3:50 a.m. ET -- An ex-cop suspected of killing three people including a policeman and threatening to kill others — as laid out in a chilling online manifesto — continued to elude a massive manhunt early Friday despite local, state and federal agents following leads throughout Southern California.
Speaking to a packed press conference, Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck chronicled the bloody events and called on the alleged gunman, 33-year-old Christopher Dorner, to turn himself in.

"This has gone far enough," Beck added. "No one else needs to die."
Police conducted door-to-door searches in the ski area of Big Bear Mountain after discovering Dorner's burned-out 2005 Nissan Titan truck in the area, NBCLosAngeles.com reported.
The FBI and Las Vegas police were at Dorner's Las Vegas home earlier Thursday. According to a statement released by the FBI, the surrounding neighborhood was cleared for safety reasons while a "law enforcement action" was completed.
Early Friday, the San Diego Sheriff's Department said it had received a call saying Dorner was at a home in the area. Units were at the scene but as at midnight local time (3 a.m. ET), officials said they had not taken any suspects into custody.
Dorner, a 270-pound former Navy reservist who was tossed off the police force in 2008, was acting out of revenge, according his 11,300-word treatise — a cached version of which was obtained by NBCLosAngeles.com — and was targeting not only perceived enemies, but their families as well.
Described as 'one of the more dangerous shooters we've seen in a long time,' police say 33-year-old Christopher Dorner has already killed three people and is gunning for more. NBC's Miguel Almaguer reports.
"I never had the opportunity to have a family of my own, I’m terminating yours," Dorner wrote in his rambling manifesto, addressing LAPD officials he blamed for ruining his career.
"Look your wives/husbands and surviving children directly in the face and tell them the truth as to why your children are dead."
Dorner has an arsenal of weapons, including assault rifles, police said. Citizens were told to call 911 if they saw his truck, but warned not to approach him, describing him as "extremely dangerous."
Dorner is a 2001 graduate of Southern Utah University, where he majored in political science and minored in psychology and played football for at least two of those years, the university confirmed.
He was a lieutenant in the Navy Reserves from 2002 until this week, and earned a ribbon for rifle marksmanship and a medal for pistol expertise. He was honorably discharged.
He joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 2005 and was fired for making false statements in 2008.

Police say Dorner began his killing spree on Sunday.
Monica Quan, 28, and her fiancé, Keith Lawrence, 27, were fatally shot while parking their car at their apartment complex after a Super Bowl party. Quan is the daughter of retired LAPD Capt. Randy Quan, who represented Dorner at the internal review that led to his ouster.
On Wednesday, Dorner tried and failed to steal a boat in San Diego, Beck said. No one was hurt in that incident.
Hours later, he began targeting cops, they said.
At 1:25 a.m., in Chino, LAPD cops assigned to protect someone named in the manifesto came under fire. One cop suffered a graze wound to his head, "literally inches from killing him," Beck said.
Twenty minutes later, in Riverside, he ambushed two cops stopped at a red light. One officer was killed and the other is in stable condition.
Police in Riverside said that they had notified the family of the slain policeman, but did not reveal his identity out of concern that it might endanger his family members.
Tensions were high across the region, where cops on protection details wound up injuring innocent civilians.
At 5:15 a.m. in Torrance, police assigned to watch the home of a potential target got a report of a vehicle like Dorner’s in the area, and then spotted it driving with the lights off.
Police fired at the vehicle and wounded two women who were out delivering newspapers. The Los Angeles Times reported that one was shot in the back and one in the hand and both were taken to local hospitals for treatment. The back of their blue pickup was riddled with bullet holes, the report said.

"Tragically we believe this was a case of mistaken identity by the officers," said Chief Beck.
Later in the day, dozens of cops surrounded a motel in San Diego where a man matching Dorner’s description was reported to be holed up. KNSD said police eventually confirmed the man inside was not the suspect.
"It's extremely intense," Sgt. Rudy Lopez said of the dragnet to capture the suspect before anyone else is killed.
"We're trying to identify where he's been, where he's going. In this case, we are the targets. He's brazen. He's on a hunt to do whatever havoc he can."
Dorner’s manifesto, titled "Last Resort," is a road map of his rage over being tossed off the force. He claims that he was punished for accusing his field training officer of brutalizing a mentally disabled man.
"The attacks will stop when the department states the truth about my innocence, PUBLICLY!!!" he wrote.
Half of it chronicles the wrongs Dorner says he suffered, stretching all the way back to a racial slur used against him in the first grade. He portrays the LAPD as rife with racism, corruption and abuse.
There is a long passage in which he expresses support for an assault-weapons ban, and a plea that his brain be preserved for scientific research on the effects of depression.
The document also contains page after page of praise for friends, political figures, journalists and celebrities and opinions on issues of the day — from women in combat to the boycott of Chick-fil-A.
Mostly, though, he talks about his bloodthirsty plans. He claims his arsenal includes "Bushmaster firearms, Remington precision rifles" and silencers and boasts that his knowledge of police tactics will allow him to elude capture.
"I know I will be villified (sic) by the LAPD and the media," he wrote. "Unfortunately, this is a necessary evil that I do not enjoy but must partake and complete for substantial change to occur within the LAPD and reclaim my name."
In addition to posting his manifesto online, Dorner also reached out directly to CNN, mailing a package to anchor Anderson Cooper's New York office, according to CNN. The package contained a hand-labeled DVD, a yellow Post-it note reading, in part, "I never lied," and a coin wrapped in duct-tape.
According to CNN, the tape was inscribed with the words "Thanks, but no thanks, Will Bratton," and the letters "IMOA." The coin is a souvenir medallion from former L.A.P.D. Chief William Bratton, CNN said, but it appears to have been shot-through with bullet holes.
CNN told law enforcement about the parcel.
At an emotional press conference in Riverside, home to the fallen officer, Police Chief Sergio Diaz said that judging by Dorner’s manifesto, the fugitive had a "depraved mind and heart."
Diaz, like his counterpart in Los Angeles, said the suspect should turn himself in.
"His grievances will not be further aired by further violence."

This @!$%# happens way too often, good person gets @!$%# canned for bs reasons, so he reported his higher up/training officer for kicking some one, the victim did have injuries and did report being kicked, but nope the pigs said he was lying to protect one of their own as he was still only a trainee. Now in this case most people often kill themselves or sit in some depressed ass state after having their dream ripped away under bull crap circumstances, this guy said no, @!$%# it, if they can get away with lying and corruption (believe me I grew up in southern California cops are corrupt as hell), then he can get away with some payback. While the poor girl and her fiance seem like casualties of this war, I say screw the rest of them I've been racially profiled and screwed over by punk ass cops too many times to feel bad for them. I served over seas in the military as well then come back home and get treated like some punk wetback for no reason. While there are some really cool cops its the abusive ones that make it bad for the rest, I haven't reached the point of this guy in question here, but every person has their breaking point, and I'm sure if I ever reached mine as well, doesn't matter god cop, bad cop you're in that blue uniform you'll all look the same through my scope.

As far as the rest of this chat content goes, sure we should have the right to bear arms. That does not preclude logical limitations and a small amount of common sense. I see its always all or nothing on this topic.

Make it easier for Dorner to kill the people he is after.
You need to allow California citizens to carry concealed.
If Dorner can kill cops trying to apprehend him it would help if citizens were able to arm and protect themselves.
Who knows maybe if you and your liberal anti gun buddies allowed a concealed carry option in CA possibly an armed, experienced citizen could help bring Dorner down.
One good shot with a .45 hollow point should solve his problems.

You need to spend a lot less time talking about "hollow points" like Dirty Harry and a lot more time realizing that Dirty Harry could read, and if you insist on trying to sound like him you should be able to read too.
The people Dorner is after have not had any guns taken away. All cops are armed. The dirty ones included. No average Joes who are not involved in this situation are targeted, and in fact the only citizens who have no involvement who have been targeted were shot by other police. With no warning whatsoever just open fire. Two women who clearly could be mistaken by anybody for a 270 pound ex cop who knows enough about police tactics to not come dawdling up to one of his target's houses in his own well known truck.
It's right there in his manifesto and in every article written on the subject that even flirts with the truth of the matter instead of pedaling the usual sensationalist biased slant. The public in general with no affiliation to the police involved have nothing to fear from Dorner. At least not until they start in with the 40oz courage and get dumb enough to think they and their .45 hollow point are enough to get in Dorner's way.
One more dopey partisan-duped ditz addressed : check. Now to wait until news reports outline what happens when it's his turn to have police misconduct against him dismissed by the public because only "the guilty" ever get punished. Cause that's the only time ostriches ever learn anything right? When they pull their heads out and discover they're suddenly knee deep in that part of life that only happens to someone else somewhere else who must be doing something wrong?
You know the saddest part about Dorner? He is really convinced the public actually values honor. He really feels that what his fellow officers were doing was wrong and hypocritical and the public and other officers had suffered from that abuse of authority enough - his firing just being another symptom of the disease.
What someone should have told him is that people teach others how to treat them and the public has left no stone unturned in showing others that they deserve both the police departments and government that they've gotten. Once the batons fall on enough heads for enough self righteous aloof bozos to run out of ways to be oblivious, whistle-blower types would be better served making their own plans to protect their own interests and leaving the public to fend for itself. Because the last thing the public respects is people who think it deserves better than it's getting. That much is clear.
It's truly a sad day when a man who was trained to not only protect and serve our community but our country feels so betrayed that he now has to go on a revenge killing rampage. I only hope this doesn't end in a suicide by cop.

My guess would be that Dorner is upset over Riverside police using terrorists in Riverside for illegal political practices-one lives very close to the shooting and is why we closed Beach craft (beach murder involvement,Russian Gypsy jew terrorist)she kept insisting she was the Bell Operator (A.Jolie the Changeling-did submit evidence and so did I to international criminal court)to racketeer in phone company,and uses illegal police intimidation's on people by telling them she works for San Bernardino,Riverside,ca and NY PDs, her so called son in -laws name is Donner,he worked on school buses,the others classified as terrorists broke into something involving Quaid where I worked (UN) undercover and calls the Quaids ,Randy Quaid and tried to hurt their children also-they were all illegally using air port systems and tried to break into Lunar (Wright Luna)equip. with the Wright Brother relatives IDs and stolen jewelry and diploma's.FBI in other states know more about this than local.

The citizens had their shot. They were too busy deluding themselves that the police were always justified and the "animals" they saw the police beating on earned such treatment to realize that one day due to motivations and requirements they have never understood or controlled, they and/or their loved ones could end up joining the "animals" as receivers of injustice.
So now you have good cops gone bitter policing police. Because it's inevitable that someone will get sick of abuse of power and the complete joke inherent in trying to whine and litigate the system into "snitching" on itself and hold itself accountable and will then decide the end justifies the means.
This incident makes for a VERY good argument why we must all be armed. If the Government takes our guns away, only the Cops and crooks, most of the time it is one of the same, will have guns. I carry all of the time. I will continue to carry, even if Obama and his Minions out law weapons for the general public.

I can understand why the NRA is against universal background checks, because dip chits like will be singled out and their membership will decrease. We do need more mental test, we need to start testing NRA members right away!!

I'm not agreeing with the fact that he is killing people. However, he has had 3 years to prepare his revenge. He was a cop, he knows their operations, I'm sure he has stashes all over of vehicles, guns, food and cash. There will be a Hollywood producer just dying to get this script.

Well, won my game last night and woke up to cops killing cops (that's what happens when you give guys with high school diplomas a gun and the mind set that they are law or you become the most imprisoned country in the "free" world). Obama followers realizing he is even deadlier than Bush (yes according to Obama's legal reasoning he could use a drone to take out this guy or any vehicle he thinks this guy is in). This is more eminent than a guy in the Sudan, this guy has military training (shown in his ability to shoot three cops so they are failing to detain the problem), and it doesn't matter if he's American or deserves due process.
