$1 million reward offered for ex-cop in connection with revenge killings

Updated at 3:02 a.m. ET: Authorities in Los Angeles have offered a $1 million reward for information leading to the capture of a fired LA police officer sought in connection with a series of killings and threats against his former colleagues and their families.

The reward was announced even as investigators continued to comb the snowy mountains around Big Bear Lake, where Christopher Dorner's burned out truck was found on Feb. 7, and hundreds of officers patrolled the neighborhoods where people live who were threatened by Dorner in an online screed.

Every day that Dorner is loose, said LAPD Chief Charlie Beck, is another day when the likelihood of an attack on police officers or their families increases.

"We are asking the public, 'Please help us to protect you,' " Beck said at a news conference. "Please help us to find Dorner before he is able to kill again."

Dorner is wanted in the slayings of three people and the ambush-style shooting of two others, all part of a revenge-style rampage that began last Sunday, when he allegedly shot the daughter of a police union lawyer and her fiancé in an Irvine parking garage.

The heart of the search continued to be the San Bernardino mountains where Dorner was last seen, Beck said on Sunday. Officers will also look for him near where some 50 LAPD families live who were threatened by the former policeman.

"You fish where the fish are," Beck said. "And Mr. Dorner has made his intentions very clear."

Police locked down a home improvement store in the San Fernando Valley, more than a hundred miles away from Big Bear, after receiving a tip that someone resembling Dorner was seen in the store. Authorities searched car-to-car and cordoned off neighborhoods in Northridge, but the move was seen as mostly precautionary.

Also on Sunday, the Riverside Police Department released the name of one of Dorner's victims. Michael Crain, 34, was ambushed by a man police believe was Dorner on April 7, as he sat with his partner at a stoplight in his patrol car.

New surveillance video captures fugitive ex-cop Christopher Dorner the morning after his first two murders, NBC's Miguel Almaguer reports.

Crain, who was born in Anaheim, was an 11-year veteran of the Riverside police force. He leaves behind a wife and two small children.

A second reward, worth $100,000, could also be on the way, a spokesman for Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich said Sunday.

Tony Bell said that Antonovich and fellow supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas planned to ask colleagues on the Board of Supervisors to approve that reward for information leading to Dorner's capture at their meeting on Tuesday.

News of the rewards came as the LAPD announced it would re-open its investigation into Dorner’s firing from the department in 2008.

In a 11,400 word manifesto published on line, the ex-officer blamed his killing spree on his termination, saying that he would only stop when his name was cleared.

Re-opening the investigation seems to have two purposes: to communicate to members of the public who have responded to Dorner’s complaints that the LAPD treated him unfairly, and to send a message to the ex-officer himself.

Los Angeles officials announce a one million dollar reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of former LAPD officer Christopher Dorner.

The department "is not opening it because of the accusations or because of the musings of someone who is a multiple murderer now," Cmdr. Andrew Smith said Saturday. Chief Charlie Beck is "wants to ensure that the public knows that the Los Angeles Police Department is fair and transparent, " Smith said.

Witnesses will be re-interviewed and the investigation into Dorner's firing will get a "fresh set of eyes," Smith said. He also issued a plea for Dorner to come forward.

"He can turn himself in and he can be able to get his side of the story out," Smith said.

Deputies have been combing the ski resort area of Big Bear, where authorities found former LAPD Officer Christopher Dorner’s burned-out truck, since Thursday afternoon.

More news from NBCLosAngeles.com

Investigators found weapons inside the truck, suggesting Dorner may have abandoned the truck in an unplanned hurry.

Former LAPD Chief William Bratton told the "Today Show" on Saturday that evidence suggests Dorner's truck may have become stuck in the mud. Previously, it was speculated that the truck may have been intentionally set ablaze as a distraction.

Investigators on Saturday were also trying to determine whether the truck's axle was broken when they found it, or if it was fractured while being towed from the forestry road.

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, interviewed outside a prayer breakfast downtown, urged Dorner to turn himself in.

"We will find you," Villaraigosa said. "You’ve disgraced the public safety -- the police profession -- turn yourself in."

As the search in Big Bear was winding down for the night on Saturday, LAPD announced the department is reopening the case into Dorner's 2008 firing from the force.

In an 11,400-word document published online, Dorner laid out plans to kill law enforcement officers and their families, vowing to stop the attacks when LAPD "states the truth about my innocence."

LOS ANGELES — A mother and daughter newspaper delivery team who were mistakenly shot by Los Angeles police hunting for a fugitive former cop will get a new pickup truck courtesy of the department.

LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith says the department's Chief Charlie Beck met with the women in their Torrance home Saturday to apologize and tell them he had arranged for someone to donate a new pickup truck.

Wow, barely a snippet on the home page concerning this drama. I guess when the wacko is a lefty, the MSM doesn't care to talk about the details of the manifesto. Only the first part is about his beef with the LAPD. The rest, many pages, lays out all of the lefties this guy adores. Where is the coverage about that?

I wonder if the IRS will count the new truck as INCOME and force them to pay the government a third of the trucks value.

Normal everyday people call cry for help from their boyfriend of husband threatening them, gettign out of jail and coming after them and the police could care less to help protect that person.

You could easily put the LAPD in place of Dorner in this story and you would have basically the same gruesome reality, only for some reason it would all be legal? Cutting down a 71 year old lady and her daughter in the back of a van, is pretty sad LAPD.

The $1million reward makes it sound as if the hoodlum gang known as the LAPD have no intention of honoring their previous offer of re-examining Chris DoorKnob's case of grievances. I also would not trust LAPD's word on anything; they are all a buncha Hollywood-acting immoral fakey-Jakeys.

The behaviors and actions of the members of the LAPD are creating the conditions for another city-wide riot. Police immorality begets immorality in the citizens they are hired to protect and serve. Behave yourselves, LAPD, or else the Citizens will MAKE you behave. That is not a threat; that is merely a statement of the way The World works; the reaction to mistrust.

ummmmmmmmmm .. LAPD ... is gonna get a "Bounty hunter" to take him down for a million bucks?

Why can't they do it themselves?

How many more innocent, unconnected citizens are going to be shot by bounty hunters & police?

Are police eligible to collect the bounty? If so ..Why?

Actually, it seems Christopher Dorner is not as big a threat to the public at large as the out of control police of LA are ... He wasn't a treat to the general public prior to the reward offer ... now the police have changed that with a huge reward ... giving everyone a reason to take a shot at him or turn him in ...

Without this reward, a great number of people wouldn't have reported if they saw him ... he has become a "sympathetic" figure .... with huge numbers believing this firmly rest on the shoulders of LAPD ... and the reckless & careless disregard for rights and human life by the LAPD is not endearing them to the public ... in fact, it is turning public opinion against them.

When this incident comes to a close This department needs a complete overhaul ..

Another one who thinks she's in a movie, I saw another calling him Jason Bourne on another website. Seriously people, maybe he was wronged, but do you turn murderer when you are wronged at your job, or elsewhere? Do you have murdering thoughts if someone calls you names? You think its normal to jump on a co-worker because he called you names? Especially for a cop? (the other cop who called him a n***r was an @!$%# tho, no question about that). Newsbreak: there is often favoritism at the workplace, and bs going on. You move on, you find another job, you don't go on a killing rampage. He should have left LAPD long before he got fired, and go work for another outfit.

    FedupwithFed

How about their kids? Do you give a crap about them? Because he talks about going to their schools and killing them too in his "manifesto". And did you miss the part where they said they are reopening the case?

Unfortunately he just ruined his name himself more then anyone else ever did by killing innocent people who had nothing to do with his case.

And if you hate LAPD so much, I suggest you write to them and let them know you don't want them answering your 911 calls nor helping you in any way (they're all bad right? so you wouldn't want any of them on your property).

I have to say tho, every time I hear about something like this, or a soldier who decided to go on a rampage, etc, I always find it very sad, to throw away such a life of service, and turn into a murderer. I wish this man would have been treated properly for his psychological issues.

    Debi;

Surely you jest. This guy now has nothing to lose. This all happened 4 years ago; what if he randomnly shoots a young new cop who still idealistically wants to help and defend the citizens of LA? He has nothing to do with any cover-up or persecution of Dorner (which you seem to have more information about than the rest of us). It's ok if he goes to a school where some innocent children of police officers are, and guns down them all? Some people do snap, but that doesn't make their acts of revenge against innocent people any more justified.

Nice to see that you value the safety and life of your family; obviously you don't feel the same about anyone else's.

A new pick up truck? Sounds to me like the LAPD is trying to clean up their image. Maybe some good PR will work, maybe it won't. But meanwhile, corrupt cops are rampant. The LAPD has a long history of being corrupt and making themselves look bad.

Fact: I have seen LAPD & LASD cops having sex with hookers that they were supposed to be arresting.

Fact : I know personally of cops who use illegal drugs and im not talking POT. I also know they buy meth (and have seen them use it) from known drug dealers in the High Desert and IE and LA County.

Fact : They DO use brutal force on people if they can get away with it and will torture and kick the @!$%# out of you if they want to. (More than needed to subdue people anyway).

I know that around LA county and Los Angeles the cops are considered as bad as the criminals themselves and in some cases worse, because THEY are the ones you are supposed to trust. THEY are the ones who should stand for honor and self service to the public they are sworn to protect. I know that there are good cops. I know there are exceptions to the now rule, that cops are "gang members with badges".

I do feel bad for the innocent lives lost here. This cop killer is bringing to light the ugly skeletons in the closet that the public already knows and it's coming at a high and tragic price. But the public wants the police to do the one thing they should be doing when they put on that uniform: BE SOMEONE WHO DESERVES RESPECT!

I haven't seen it yet. All the cops I have known from LASD, TO LAPD have been a sorry excuse of a constable on patrol. With the CHP following close behind.

Dorner, even if I knew where you were I wouldn't take the 1million bait. They prob wouldn't give it to the person who turns you in anyway.

As far as that pick up goes, I guess it's something. But when you come down to it, a mode of transportation doesn't make up for almost getting killed by over zealous cops who shoot first and ask questions later.

In NY last week, a soldier was leaving Fort Drum and was arrested by local police because he had a 30-round magazine in his car. No ammo, no weapon.....just an empty magazine.

If people have not opened their eyes to see that it is time that people are becoming tired of being pushed around and unfairly treated, then the sleepers in this world are in big trouble.

As this story unfolds, millions of people in the US are starting to see that when pushed to the edge, people are capable of anything! It is high time that the people who treat others so unfairly, or lie to aid themselves or just treat people like crap, are now paying the price. If anything, this will make people think twice before purposely wronging someone in the future.

If you think this is a single case of this happening, you are sadly mistaken. Watch the blogs. Most people agree with this guy and will cause more and more incidents to happen. The longer they go without capturing this guy, more people will follow in his footsteps.

The reason the LAPD is pressing so hard to get this guy caught is because they see the impact this has on the community. Now there is Dorner unaccounted for and people with a beef with the LAPD will take advantage of the situation. That is why LAPD knows if they don't catch this guy soon, it will be open season on the LA cops and people will just blame it on Dorner.

Not so much that I agree with the methods and tactics of this guy, but it is a shame that it takes things like this to open peoples eyes and make them think twice about lying or commiting wrongs against others.

I believe this ex-cop is showing the public how dirty the LAPD and other police departments throughout the nation is and how they will do all they can to keep the truth of their corruption from being known to the public. Including firing one of their own to keep the truth from being known. In other words, the ex-cop is using the only means available to him to expose the corruption with LAPD. Now, I see the public is being offered money to keep their eyes closed to what's happening.

    jerseyshoremarie:

what if he randomnly shoots a young new cop who still idealistically wants to help and defend the citizens of LA? He has nothing to do with any cover-up or persecution of Dorner (which you seem to have more information about than the rest of us). It's ok if he goes to a school where some innocent children of police officers are, and guns down them all? Some people do snap, but that doesn't make their acts of revenge against innocent people any more justified.

I believe the American government calls that "collateral damage".

Demonize the whistle blower...so indicative of what is going on in politics today. He is playing out the drama of our political leaders but actually some of the news is being reported.

In a way I support this guy because the truth will come out and then he isn't doing anything to support our cause of gun control when a cop goes whacko. Nuts come in all flavors but DONT kill the innocent man just the guilty...those who actually wronged you.

I guess it depends what side of the gun control debate you are on. I think he's answering, quite well, the question, "Why do people need assault rifles?" To protect ourselves from government agents gone bad.

In his manifesto he calls for gun control, but is failing to prove his point. He is actually bolstering the need of weapons owned by citizens.

If you're asking for gun control this is a perfect example of what your responsibilities are. Guns are not the cure all of a democratic government. AK-16 ???

Is that a top secret NEW assault weapon that is replacing the M-16 or M-4 ?

All I could find on this AK-16 of yours is: "USS Spica (AK-16) was an Sirus-class cargo ship commissioned by the U.S. Navy for service in World War II. She was responsible for delivering necessary goods and equipment to ships and stations in the war zone."

Good luck fighting anyone off with a WWII cargo ship - lolz

Please don't turn this into a "black" thing. If this man was emotionally persecuted and fired for doing the right thing at LAPD, and an accumulation of such perceived injustices over his lifetime found a trigger in the actions of the police department, let that in itself stand as the testament that honest people can be pushed too far and that a person with nothing to lose is a dangerous animal.

No one condones the killing of innocents such as the young couple who were the first victims here.

But don't... for the love of Pete, don't... start trying to make him a "black" hero. Leave the race crap out of it or you will turn it into something it's not.

As for the million dollar reward.... guess it shows that cops are worth more than ordinary citizens since we've never seen this offered for any other killer by the city, at least to my knowledge.

I would help the fugitive ex-cop before I would lift a hand to help a corrupt institution that has a very known troubled past with the truth. It is far easier to believe he was set up than to believe he just finally went nuts and murdered some dick cops kids. I would like to see more of an investigation into the LAPD and break open what everyone knows, Police Corruption.

Keep hiding Dorner, the truth will one day set you free, unfortunately, it will probably be after your death for breaking the Blue Code.

This is about the "dick cops kids" you are talking about, maybe it will give you some perspective to put a face on them: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/05/monica-quan-keith-lawrence-dead_n_2623013.html

And yes of course her father was a "dick cop" for sure, after all he says so in his manifesto.

Keep hiding Dorner, the truth will one day set you free, unfortunately, it will probably be after your death for breaking the Blue Code.

Unfortunately, now that he decided to kill innocent people, the truth will never set him free, whether he is dead or alive. Going on a killing rampage is not the way to clear a name, altho it seems some of you think that's the way to go.

What is it with this "movie" perception people have of that guy? Is it because you read his manifesto or because he has a good face?

      #1.77 - Mon Feb 11, 2013 11:18 AM EST

This guy seems to be a victim, but now he become one of them, sometimes the bad guy becomes the good guy and sometimes the good guy is the real monster, and now they giving one million dollars because they scare they need to used that million dollars for an investigation on that police department

It is amazing how many people are alright with what Dorner is doing and we wonder why there is so much violence going on. He has done more damage to his good name than the LAPD ever could by killing two innocent people. But then there have also been people who felt that it is alright to go after family members of the people that have supposedly done you wrong. I mean really, they stand behind the people that have done you wrong so they must be as bad as them. It is never right to kill unless it is in self defense. People complain about violent movies and violent games. Here we are in real life with people cheering this man on in his endeavor to kill cops and their families. Neither side is right and two wrongs certainly don't make a right. It is not okay to kill just because you feel that you have been pushed too far and I can't believe that people are in any way alright with that idea.

Let's see, the cops "mistaken" a different vehicle and open fire on it? There was also another incident with a blond, skinny white surfer dude as well, so I guess two women and a skinny surfer dude = 200 lb ex black cop? Wow. LAPD makes NOPD look like Rhode Scholars. I guess everybody looks the same in LAPD's eyes, criminals, civilians, etc.

Since the LAPD has shot up two vehicles without first verifying who the passenger/passengers were, it's obvious they are in assassination mode, not arrest mode.

Is that what our law enforcement has come to? Assassins? If and when he is caught, we'll be told he committed suicide. Yeah, right. LAPD is out of control and I'm much more concerned about them being on the streets than Dorner.

You're so high on that soapbox that evil people need to be punished, without even thinking who is the evil person in this scenario. Do you deny that the LAPD has a corruption problem? Do you deny that the LAPD hasn't done this very thing, to a lot more people in the past? Would you also deny that when you push a man to the point of breaking, that we all bear a little responsibility for being an uncaring society? I'm not going to throw the man under the bus without facts, and there sure are a lot of those missing in this case. All speculation and hearsay, and last time I checked in at a court, that didn't mean squat. It is quite obvious that this man will be killed, more than likely without a weapon, because the fact is, the LAPD is full of cowards who are just like that.

Everyone that can see beyond their next cheeseburger knows that Dorner was rejected by the LAPD because he failed the good-old-boy test. In more direct words, he failed to cover up corruption so they rejected him. And that has lead to him showing the LAPD up again for their corruption. And I don't believe that anyone is going to turn him in for just 1M, unless they're out of their mind. To many people in the nation wants to see the LAPD taken down for their corruption.

@ Anna, where is your proof that Dorner killed those 2 individuals?

I don't have the proof. But yes I do tend to believe that he killed these people, because he said himself that he would.

You're so high on that soapbox that evil people need to be punished, without even thinking who is the evil person in this scenario.

What I've been saying is not to generalise (about LAPD and cops in general), most cops choose this job because they like the action and they like helping people. But yes of course I think a murderer should be behind bars.

Do you deny that the LAPD has a corruption problem? Do you deny that the LAPD hasn't done this very thing, to a lot more people in the past?

I already expressed my opinion about this, there is favoritism and bs going on in almost every workplace, therefore it probably happens there too.

Would you also deny that when you push a man to the point of breaking, that we all bear a little responsibility for being an uncaring society?

We definitely should care more, and one of the things we should care about more starts at school; bullying. However I do believe the man has psychological issues, and that it didn't start with LAPD, I think eventho he was not a bad guy, he has been short tempered and on the edge of exploding for a long time. I do understand that it hurts when people lie about you tho, but going on a killing rampage is not the way to go.

Again you generalise about LAPD. If they were cowards they wouldn't be cops, this is not a job for someone who is afraid of their shadow. And I didn't say we should throw anyone under the bus, I even believe that he was wronged, but if you have read his manifesto you know the threats he made, including to the children of the people he believes have wronged him. If a guy was threatening to kill your kids and wife/husband, how would you feel about it and what would you do if you were able to stop him?

As I mentioned in another post tho, I am very sorry that a man would throw away a life of service like this, I wish he had been treated for his psychological (and anger) issues.

          #1.94 - Mon Feb 11, 2013 11:38 PM EST

I already expressed my opinion about this, there is favoritism and bs going on in almost every workplace, therefore it probably happens there too.

You trivialize this as if this "bs" occurring is the same as McDonald's. We're talking about longtime corruption and bs involving a government entity who has the legal right to kill, not a workplace where the most damaging result of corruption is a wrongly flipped burger.

I am very sorry that a man would throw away a life of service like this, I wish he had been treated for his psychological (and anger) issues.

Thanks to our military, he was made in the USA.

If they were cowards they wouldn't be cops, this is not a job for someone who is afraid of their shadow.

Real easy to say when they're armed. How many super heroes would resign if their guns were taken away?

I am not trivializing anything, I am stating a fact, something that happens in many workplaces. Someone is your best friend, but he made a mistake (let's say something somewhat minor, not a murder), you would probably be tempted to throw it under the rug and give him a chance. Its human nature.

I am very sorry that a man would throw away a life of service like this, I wish he had been treated for his psychological (and anger) issues.

Thanks to our military, he was made in the USA.

My grandfather was a soldier who fought in WW2, my father was in the Navy, presently I have 2 cousins who are in the Army, none of them ever went on a killing rampage.

You know people are responsible for themselves too, you can't ask the government to solve everything for you. If you think you may have a psychological issue get treated, don't wait until the government tells you to.

If they were cowards they wouldn't be cops, this is not a job for someone who is afraid of their shadow.

Real easy to say when they're armed. How many super heroes would resign if their guns were taken away?

And yes of course they are armed, I think it is pretty logical considering the kind of job they do. And no you can't do that job if you are a coward, its a difficult job, and you put your life on the line every day. You get a lot of hate too simply for being a cop. Its easy for you to call them cowards, sitting comfortably in front of your computer.

To you as well I suggest a few ride alongs, maybe you will get a better idea of what their day is like.

          Go Dorner, go!

Now that's plain stupid, this is not a movie, the man has (probably) already killed innocent people who had never done anything to him. Hopefully you, or your parents, never pissed anyone off, especially someone like him.

Have you read his manifesto? Is this your favorite part?

Lets see where to begin.....................my Grandpa is a Korean War Veteran Marine, after that he entered law enforcement and went to law school, by the time he retired he was a Judge (in another state before we moved here).

My Mom is a recovering Lawyer and yes she did Criminal law for a time. When she told a client that if he refused to get another Lawyer that SHE would personally make sure he received the max sentence (the man was dirty as hell) is when she decided to switch to Corporate Law. Now she is a practicing Psychologist and often has dealt with the Criminally Insane.

A family friend that has been like a Dad to my 2 little brothers and myself has many in his family with similiar backgrounds that we often spend time with and learn from. His cousin is a former Marine and D.E.A. (with a lot of time in South America) now turned local law enforcement. His 2 closest friends from China Town that have been like older brothers since he was in his mid teens are private security with law enforcement and military type training and have worked with various law enforcment. His Ex-Father In Law retired from the RCAF (pilot) and then became an RCMP until he retired. Other than his Sifu the only Dad type person in his life is a former Vietnam Veteran Marine that kept volunteering for more until they said enough and asked him to teach the Rookies instead. After this he ended up joining the CPD until retiring 2 years ago. My Dad (I'll just call him that for simplicity) had a number of Military and Law Enforcement students. Both here and when he taught for a short time down in Norfolk, VA during college summer break and did some Security work with his "Brothers".

My point being is I get to hear a whole lot of "Stuff" and it's not always good either. Plus my sources are both extensive and recent (as well as some older to build from).

"And no you can't do that job if you are a coward, its a difficult job, and you put your life on the line every day."

The sad truth is that there are more that hide behind their guns and badges than we would like to admit. Some were bullied back in their school days and some are just natural born A$$holes that get off on using their position to dominate and intimidate others. While hiding (like all cowards will) behind the rule of Law and the fact that Cops protect their own. If you (the general population) are lucky a number of truly Good Cops will take care of things (think blanket party) behind closed doors on their own but they seldom "Air Their Dirty Laundry" in public. Some are just Crooks and Greedy just like some politicians and certain Civilians are as well. There has been EXTENSIVE and even Rampant Corruption in the LAPD (and others PDs as well to be fair) for a long time.

If Mr. Dorner is indeed telling the truth I can understand his being fed up and if he couldn't get justice going after the guilty on his own. It may not be legal but I still understand his motives. He truly did crossthe line if he did kill any innocent civilians just because it would hurt those that did him wrong. From that there is no going back. If the LAPD is dirty I hope that they are exposed and justice prevails against them as well.

            Regards,

            Brandon

            Anna:

You have a naive, almost childlike vision of law enforcement. Mayberry does not really exist.

Dorner was trained by our military specifically to be a killing machine and was used as such. Now you label him as a murderer. It's acceptable to you when he kills for the military/government's war, but not for his own war.

We've become so accustomed to killing foreign innocent men, women and children, that it's now coming home to roost on our own soil.

You see, as we as a country become more ruthless, dishonorable and vengeful in war, so do we as a people.

As long as Dorner stays alive, constant press coverage will enlighten more people to the rats nest we call law enforcement and I hope his sacrifice amounts to change, and is not for naught.

After watching the LAPD press conference and listening to the gratutious self serving bullcrap of Beck and Villaraigosa, I'm starting to pull for Dorner. I know its wrong and Dorner took human lives but having lived in LA and knowing how these guys operate, its very hard to be on their side.

Not so fast cave men. If you clowns expect anyone to believe that this man, who obviously was an captain in the Army, went bad over nothing. Something really stinks here. To say that this man did something is easy to do, why I myself have experienced first hand how quickly some officers would lie to discredit your good name. I have gut feeling that some members of the LAPD force said or did something to cause his termination. Considering my strong feelings in regards to this matter, I would have to say that some people are conspiring lies against him, but now that he has deteriorated to a level, often associated to beast men, what ever they say will stick. Is it not wrong for police officers to contact your peers and threaten to accuse you of some acts, to keep you quiet? Well, this is exactly what they did to me and no one cared to right that wrong because they were cops. After hearing and seeing how easily they can frame anyone or ruin your name simply because they desire to get away with evil acts they perform. The cops know that most lawyers are not going to come after them so there is no person, agency or department one can go to for regress. Not any that will investigate the police and find them guilty of anything.

When this all over there is either going to be a list of deceased and one dead rouge cop, or he may surrender if they smarten up and do the right thing. Confess their sins that drove this honorable man mad. Otherwise they themselves are partly responsible for the deaths.

LAMEyes...you call this POS an honorable man?...wow youre just as pathetic and self absorbed as him. That punk didnt do a thing about this for 5 years and then decides that innocent people need to die. This is NOT about LAPD...its about a little bitch that cant let go and thinks his stupid name is more important than innocent lives. What if we all did this when we were wronged?...think about that you moron before you praise a punk murderer. You sound like another pos that wants perfection from everyone but yourself. What if everyone defined you by the one bad mistake you made and ignored the thousands of good deeds you do...thats how dimwits like you define LAPD...go back to you cell and stfu. All the law abiding people will celebrate this maggots death and then forget about him by the next day! We dont even talk about bin ladin anymore, do you think we will care about this dumb bitch?

There you go showing your true spirit. He was an officer in the military and I'm sure if he had been dishonorably discharged he would not have been employed by any police department. You may not like my comment but that is no reason to call people names. I bet you were one of those bullies in school, who went around throwing insults at people for thrills. Not even going to join you in your immature rant of name calling, but I hope you do seek some help before you snap. Seriously.

Since you have all of the information about what this so called punk did or did not do, why don't you be so kind and share it with all of us. It's unfortunate that it has resulted to people dying and I'm sure that if anyone could have perceived this outcome they would have dealt with him fairly, professionally and honestly. A persons name is very important, and you will never know how important your credibility is until someone tarnishes your name and pegs you as a liar in a profession where credibility means everything. It's people like you who vomit feces, because you have no understanding of nothing but your own vane opinions which is pure crap.

the night maniac.......you're correct I believe. But I believe there's other factors also. The nepotism and The Good Ole Boys Club has corrupted police everywhere. It's become a 'go along to get along' situation and it's being passed from generation to generation with each becoming less honorable than the last. If you ever manage to get into a candid conversation with a police officer, they'll eventually get around to saying the same things. It hard to get them to say anything because retribution is a powerful force and they're very scared of it, because they have seen the results of it before........something I believe Dorner knows. He appears to be a cunning adversary with the knowledge of what his end will be and has accepted it. A very dangerous combination for sure.

All of you who hate LAPD so much (while most of you probably don't even know j s about them), need to send letters to LAPD and let them know not to answer your next 911 call. Call your "hero" instead, I'm sure he will help you.

Just do what I just said and/or move to a different city. But hopefully LAPD will hear you, and disband their outfit. You can always set up some kind of neighborhood watch and respond to your own 911 calls.

@Anna, there isn't an alternative to calling anyone but the cops if you do need something. This isn't about anarchy. This is about pointing out a corrupt system that needs to be overhauled and fixed. Either by more training or making sure that there are better checks and balances. The truth is that the public is sick of constantly seeing public servants, (they are supposed to be the good guys), misuse the authority that has been given to them. To say, "move if you don't like the way it's done" is simplistic and wouldn't fix a damn thing. When you have the majority of the people who have hired you saying that you are doing a crap job, it is time to clean shop. Dorner's idea of cleaning shop is the wrong way to do it, but it's an outlet for the public as you can see...

IF you don't belive that cops can and will misuse that power the badge has given them, just ask a minority that has been profiled or look up what DWB means. Or, see how many times you are stuck by the side of the road and a friendly cop asks if he can help you. (That has never happened in my 40 years on Earth!) Or look at the examples I listed in the above post. Enjoy.

@Anna, there isn't an alternative to calling anyone but the cops if you do need something.

There definitely is an alternative, just don't call anyone. If someone breaks into your house just get out and let them steal whatever they want. You wouldn't call someone you hate or someone you are afraid of to your rescue would you? There is nothing about anarchy in my message, its about not calling LAPD if you hate them so much, and you do have the right to defend yourself and your property.

What I dislike mainly in your message (and others), is that you generalise big time, the majority of cops are not corrupted. As I mentioned in another message tho, there is bs and favoritism in most workplaces, its not just a cop thing. You make them all to be the bad guys, but most are not.

Yes certainly there is cops who will misuse the power the badge has given them (and this is not true only for cops, but for a lot of people who become total @!$%#s the minute they have a little bit of power), but you generalise, as if all cops were corrupted, and it is not the case. The majority of law enforcement officers chose this job because they like the action and they like to help people.

Funny you would mention being stuck by the side of the road because this is exactly what happened to my husband last year and a cop helped him.

And very few cops would profile you because of your race, they will profile you because of your attitude (the tough guy or drug dealer type for example), your location (for instance, a bunch of guys in a backyard that is not theirs), etc.

Also I would bet you didn't know any of the cops who were hurt or killed by that guy, but you don't give a crap about them, you figure if they were LAPD they were bad guys.

                  #4.14 - Mon Feb 11, 2013 1:35 AM EST

You are wrong. They profile you for race a majority of the time. Again, a MAJORITY of the people on this thread and others are speaking from experience. I am among those. While I am happy *claps excitedly* for you that a diamond among the stones showed up to help you, it doesn't prove that cops are not corrupt. I, and again a MAJORITY of people, have had countless experiences to prove otherwise. That is why the public is being unforgiving on this subject.

I would still call the cops if something was going down. If nothing more than to get them off their ass. Or, on second thought, I prob. wouldn't. Whomever broke into my house has more to worry about than a fat cop coming in 15 minutes anyway.

Btw, a cop can't know your attitude from a moving vehicle. What they see first is what you are driving or your skin color. Good try though. Please go back to Mayberry and high five Opie when you see him.

                  I agree with that.

And Demonseed, I also speak by experience. They were fantastic, you have no idea how helpful they were. I did have one somewhat bad experience with other cops at another time tho, when they came to my house instead of another person's (who had called them).

There is jerks, but in general these guys, and girls, are putting their lives on the line every day for the public. Don't generalise.

And yes they can see your attitude from a moving vehicle. I suggest you do a ride along, maybe it will give you a better idea of what their job is like and how they profile.

Offering two large rewards seems to indicate two possible problems in the LAPD. 1. They can't take care of their own business without more public oversight. 2. The are possibly part of the problem that caused this situation and they want to kill this guy fast before anyone finds the evidence.

No matter how you look at it the LAPD seems more attune to someone killing their own than the average citizen's death. I am willing to bet it took no time at all to raise the $1,000,000.00 from "concerned" police in the department.

Am I just a little cynical...yes...especially after watching the legislators of our nation loot the Treasury and then expect us to pay it back through more taxes and fees. All the while exempting themselves from the law, ACA, and giving themselves fat pay raises in the middle of the night. Some group of public servants I say.

I have to say I agree with Anna to a certain extent on this subject, and I also agree with the others on this board that are saying cops are corrupt. I absolutely hated cops when I was younger, because I had so many bad experiences with them. I used to be a cutter, and I can't count the number of times the cops showed up at my house to "pink slip" me, and take me to netcare (a temporary mental health crisis center here in my city). I understand that they had protocol to follow and the second they showed up and I had cuts, they had to take me. What I don't understand, is why they had to be dicks about it. I once had a cop tell me that I only cut to get attention. If this was true, why on earth would I try to hide it from everyone. Until the one time I had a female cop show up to my house, when she got there, there was a male cop literally screaming in my face while I set on the floor in tears. She sent him outside, sat down beside me, and went out of her way to find out what was going on. Although she did wind up taking me to netcare (protocol required it) we have been best friends ever since. However, even she and her husband who is a detective will tell you that there is some dirty cops in the system. This are two of the most honest and dedicated cops I have ever met, and truthfully the only ones I actually trust. Her husband is currently going through arbitration with the department over a false allegation that a female that he seeing while he and his wife were split up made about him. Although there is PLENTY of evidence to prove that this allegation is false, the department has been dragging out this arbitration for over three years. As far as the cops not arriving for fifteen minutes, I used to think the same thing. But you ever do a ride a long with a cop you will find out that they are dispatched according to the most dangerous situation first. So if your house got broken into, but the robbers are long gone, and the cop gets a call for someone who got stabbed two blocks away, guess which call they're going to go on first. It's not a first come first serve basis. It's a whoever's in the most need at the immediate moment basis. And as frustrating as that can be for the person waiting for twenty minutes or longer, you have to understand, that they have to prioritize.

                      #4.27 - Mon Feb 11, 2013 2:25 PM EST

While I could use $1M, I wouldn't turn in Dorner to get it. The LAPD is dirty, and to keep their secrets they are willing to assassinate this guy. They aren't giving him a chance to surrender, they are shooting at anything that moves in order to kill him.

Just like when they shoot a suspect with 100 bullets, and claim he pointed a gun at them first, you may believe that is what happened. These two ladies had no weapon. Their truck was shot with close to 40 bullets, and they weren't warned to stop or surrender. The only reason they both aren't dead is because the cops are lousy shots. They need to get more training before taking on Dorner.

Did the article say that the "LAPD is fair and transparent"?? BAHAHAHAH! There isn't a PD on earth for which those words apply.

My only problem with Dorner is the fact that he has killed innocent people (and I DON'T mean any cops he's offed, they are FAR from innocent), namely family members/loved ones of police officers. Because of that he's lost his status as any sort of force for good.

From my view, most law enforcement agencies are corrupt. Their "3 musketeers" MO of covering for fellow comrades when they break the law guarantees that.

I've long been of the belief that law enforcement officers should be held to HIGHER standards of conduct than civilians rather than operating under the assumption that the law doesn't apply to them. When a law-enforcement officer at any level breaks the law they should be penalized at least double that of civilians because they are expected to set a good example for others. Anything other outcome only contributes to corruption, strong-arming and thuggery. Which, it would seem, could end up responsible for the creation of a person (or persons) who is so fed up with the situation that they would do anything to call attention to it regardless of how they might be affected.

Yeah but there is no proof that he even killed those people. He is just a suspect in those murders. As far as we know the cops could be lying regarding this also. Are we supposed to believe the LAPD and the media regarding those deaths. I'm just waiting for cops to dump some bodies in the mountains and blame it on him. LAPD are experts on framing people. Even if they had a video of him admitting to the murders I would doubt it, look where they are....HOLLYWOOD masters at altering and editing video.

Just think if it was not him at the arrest of the mentally handicapped man and instead a Ramos type. LAPD or Fullerton PD would have another Kelly Thomas on their hands. There should be atleast 5 cops on trial for the murder of Kelly Thomas but Fullerton was only will to sacrifice 2 of there killers. Thank goodness that video of Thomas got out as Fullerton was trying to sweep his murder/bludgeoning under the rug. Then there was also the Cop gang that LAPD may have addressed last year, you know the ones withg gand tatoos that they added to (marked) for there beatings and murders. The idiots even circulated pamphlets regarding their gang. Sheriff's clique even celebrated shootings with tattoos

                        LAPD GANG UNIT

The investigation into a secret clique within the Los Angeles County sheriff's
elite gang unit has uncovered allegations that members had matching tattoos of a
gun-toting skeleton, which deputies would modify to celebrate their involvement
in a shooting, according to sources close to the internal probe.

Then last year other LAPD Gang Units were dismantled in several of its most crime-plagued neighborhoods because officers in those squads refused to comply with a financial disclosure rule. Basically the Gang cops did not want the PD, IA or city officals to see there income and how they spent there money. Well how the heck are they supposed to hide all that drug money the take from the gang members

The whole force should be dismantled

One deputy, who has admitted belonging to a clique called the "Jump Out Boys," has
identified about half a dozen other deputies as members, one source confirmed.
Those men are expected to be summoned for interviews with internal affairs
                        investigators, the source said.

Suspicion about the group's existence was
sparked several weeks ago when a supervisor discovered a pamphlet laying out the
group's creed, which promoted aggressive policing and portrayed officer
                        shootings in a positive light.

His "military training" was not all that extensive. He certainly was not trained to meet the
minimum requirements to be a SEAL.

@ Americans consumers, this psychotic delusion thug killer was never a Navy SEAL, nor did he ever see the theater of battle. He was part of the Navy buildup ... in Kuwait. He also never ought have been hired by LAPD, in the first place, given all that has come out about his troubled professional and personal life ... even before he was a cop. If you think some 'roid Rambro loser who plots, stalks and murders 3 people in cold blood is a he-row, then you need psychiatric intervention yourself.

We had a military shooter up here in the Pac NW. He shot a Mt. Ranier ranger. Everyone went on about his survival training and how he could fade into the forest and give police the slip.

He was found the next day because he wasn't dressed properly and died of hypothermia.

Wow. The cops really ARE scared of DoorKnob. Scared cops really ARE stupid cops.

He's a dead man and he knows it. I am very familiar with the Big Bear Mtns. If he managed to hike down to the High Desert he is prob hiding out in a mine, an abandoned desert house or maybe had a ride pick him up on the other side of the 18hwy. If, he is still on the Mtn and he hasn't gotten a good way to hide, the elements can and prob have killed him by now. There are also plenty of government lease cabins, old camp grounds with cabins on them and plenty of ways that someone who has thought it out and prepared can survive. Either way, he needs to enjoy that. Once the cops catch up to him he will be shot on sight anyway. It matters little to me. He is making his point and I hope he vanishes into the mist like the grim reaper.

I have no doubt they tried to kill him initially, which caused him to hide and start killing the cops who tried to execute him. This is exactly how it happens in movies when a corrupt police squad brings trumped up charges against an officer who is about to blow the whistle on them. He kills the cops who try to kill him, all while he is hunting for the evidence that will clear his name.

You are seeing this happen for real.

                                He's a loser for years..

It was two weeks after the encounter in San Pedro, when Dorner went to his commanding officer and claimed Evans had kicked Gettler while he was handcuffed, and laying on the ground. The internal investigation dismissed Dorner’s complaint In 2008 when three hotel employees who witnessed the incident called the accusation untrue. The investigator’s report now turned its attention to Dorner: “The delay in reporting the alleged misconduct coupled with the witness’ statements irreparably destroy Dorner’s credibility, and bring into question his suitability for continued employment as a police officer,” The report found Dorner had made false statements to a superior and recommended his dismissal. In January 2009, the department’s ‘Board of Rights recommended his termination. Dorner sued, but lost in both the trial court and the court of appeals.

They get a call and his much smaller female partner and FTO takes on the mental subject while he stands by. What a loser.

His ex didn't seem to think he was stable..

His emotional problems are documented as far back as 2006. It may have begun with a former relationship.

Court documents from 2006 show that an ex-girlfriend called him, “severely emotionally and mentally disturbed”.

Friday, the Associated Press obtained documents showing ex-officer Dorner unsuccessfully attempted to secure a restraining order against his former girlfriend Ariana Williams. Dorner was angry with her for posting his badge number on a website called “Dontdatehimgirl.com, In the posting she called him “twisted” and “super paranoid”, and told other women not to date him.

It's crazy how the typical 'merkin can justify killing hundreds and thousands of faceless "insurgents"; brown people in other countries, for any reason the government tells the Media to report. The 'merkin military, CIA covert operations, etc. Killing citizens of other countries for the usurpation of resources is Immoral. Also, the behavior and actions of the LAPD is quite often Immoral.

There simply is no justification for institutionalized greed and immorality. Citizens, stand up against all forms of institutionalized greed and immorality. Beginning with the greedy lizard faces of Wall Street.

The never-ending human condition, still rumbling with aftershocks from our long history of brutality, may offer a solution. Liberals think the answer is to eliminate guns altogether. Good guys without guns could all live in peace. Conservatives want more "good guys with guns" so they can outnumber and kill-off the "bad guys with guns". Both plans stink when good guys go bad , and it would fuel the black market.

Liberals seek to understand the root cause so they can treat and cure these once-innocent children who have gone bad. Perhaps a trauma or neural problem is causing this lack of empathy.

Conservatives simply arm themselves to hunt, track and kill the evil murderer. "This guy made a bad choice so now he's gonna' die. If he commits suicide, it'll save us all a lot of trouble, so good riddance!"

Liberals: " But we'd have so many questions...we could learn so much to help others!"

Conservatives: "Who gives a *!%@$#? It would be over and done and we could get on with our lives!"

Van: The problem is that people were wanted dead or alive, but they did not have fair trials with good, accurate evidence. All that was, was an angry mob scapegoating someone they did not like or know. Kinda like Texas does now. Shoot first, figure out later if you should have.

If the rise of DNA evidence, and the subsequent large numbers of overturned trials that resulted haven't taught you anything, then you are not qualified, intellectually nor psychologically to own a gun. And by the way, this was never about gun control. The fact that your ADHD and OCD disorders have led you back to your obsession on gun control shows, again that you have no business owning one.

You wont get any help from me, no matter what you offer. There needs to be an external investigation of the entire department, and of this case. The police investigating themselves, is the biggest joke there is.

This man was fired for reporting abuse by another officer on a mentally challenged person. Under no circumstance should ANYONE be fired for reporting abuse. Whether it turns out to be proved or not. Whistle-blowing must be protected, and encouraged.

If there is wide spread abuse and corruption in the LAPD, then I cant really blame anyone for going to war against them. In fact he needs help.

To go on a killing spree and KILL FAMILY MEMBERS? Not the way to get your story out. Also to wait for five years? Also not a good idea. Hey - maybe he just snapped. No job, nothing else to do? Who knows besides the nutcase himself.

That's true nobody knows but him. and the way they wanted to kill him means that he knows more than they want him to say. To kill another's daughter over this is insane. to kill a Mother and a Daughter delivering newspapers is equally insane

You are correct, he needed help before this started to take shape but none of the real cowards would stand up for justice. Imagine reporting someone abusing a person and having them twist it so horribly that you become the bad guy for speaking up for the defenseless victims of police abuse. It's the naive that believe that you can simply report it to the media and they will jump all over it. Not my experience or anyone who has been accused or abused by police officers. The sheep among us have no idea because they have fully fell for the justice scam. Being accused of something that you know is untrue is like dying, especially someone whom has tried to live an honorable life, so if you are dead inside the external does not matter. This is a great miscalculation of people and explains why so many are murdered by otherwise good people. I mean you can't murder someones character and not expect some sort of reaction.

Regarding his accusation that a fellow office was abusing a mentally handicapped man...why would he lie about something like that? The more likely scenario is that the accused office had more departmental pull and they decided to cover her ass and dump him.

                                  Not defending his actions...just saying.

Justice is only a word these days its more the respect they crave, well its hard to respect corruption and its the people who pay, take the power away is the only way to slow it down but that is not going to happen most of these gang members in blue are out to get the public not their family not their friends just the public, i once knew a good cop he quit cause he said they had to much power and it had to be taken away and it is a cult made of bullies

It's stressful being a cop... too many bad guys with guns. Why do cops go bad? Too many bad guys with guns. Maybe these high stress jobs should have a shorter tour of duty in these inner city combat zones. There's too much anonymity in the inner city, and nobody knows anything until its too late...

The police officers in that situation were trying to be instant heroes and got trigger happy! They should be charged for Attempted Murder or at least with Aggravated Assault with a firearm. But no the LAPD will say that the women were in an area suspicious to the manifesto and it was an accident because their truck looked like Dornors, which by the way it didn't. Fire them. Charge them. Let a jury determine if what they did was justified.! What is wrong with the LAPD!!!!

I would imagine that CNN made a copy of the DVD and of the other materials received. this stuff is priceless and will be helpful when someone decides to make a movie about this story.

                                    No, not Cool J.

The best actor would be Denzel Wahington, or that Ironman character Robert Downey, jr.

Robert downey jr played this black soldier in the movie Tropic Thunder.

It drew some criticism because a white guy can play a black guy just because you blacken your skin.

                                    Al Jolson was different.

He did his gig well before the civil rights movement.

Back then, no one knew about Al Jolson.

If Jesse Ventura pulls an Al Jolson, Jesse The Body would make a kickass Christopher DoorKnob for the moovee. Unfortunately, Matthew McConaughey would have to put on about 200 pounds in order to come close to realism for the part. And I think McConaughey enjoys being skinny.

Mr T is too old to play the part. LL Cool J, with some modifications, would be aight for the part. And Michael Clarke Duncan, God Rest His Loving Soul, is recently deceased.

And the Wayans brothas could play the part of the two skinny Philippina paperboys driving at night, in the wrong-colored pickup, with they's lights off. You KNOW the Wayans brothas don't might cross-dressing on camera at the request of the movie directors.

Use J. Bieber for the driver of the pick up truck. looks like a skinny girl anyway and there would be understanding on why they wanted to shoot him. Or Lindsey Lohan. She's a waste of space too.

Reward!! I believe if Christopher Dorner was standing without any weapons and every bullet lying on the ground, totally unarmed and stark naked wanting to surrender, "The L.A.P.D. will blow him away"

I believe he was fired for telling the truth and reporting that female officer for kicking a mentally disturbed young man, the young mans father backed up the claim made by Christopher Dorner, The truth will never be told with the LAPD doing the investigation. It is and always will be the Blue Wall of Silence.

I don't understand why they would offer over a million dollar reward for information. Is it because there's police involved? The reward for the young girl that was shot by a gang banger wasn't that much. Is the police & their family members more valuable than the regular citizen? Could we possibly be looking at a double standard here?

Manson, did you offer money towards the reward for the gang shooters? You know that's how it works, right? People offer money towards the reward. The reward size depends on how many people and how much money is put in the pot. I guess you should be getting your checkbook out.

Jeanette, the reward for Bin Laden was $25 mil. $1 mil is not that much for a high profile situation like this. This isn't the old west where $1,000 was considered a big reward.

Only a corrupt LAPD representative would even think of offering a bounty for capture.

This is LA, as a cop, you can tell your cousin ( whose not one) where Dorner is.

You can split the reward later. But that's another story.

From the shooting the two lady newspaper carriers, I would think that the LAPD is really scared or desperate to do him in. Like to hear his side of the story. The killing of those three people was a deal breaker though. Crossed the line. Point of no return. It has been 4 years, he should have gotten over it and moved on.

Of course he's not! This guy is smart, articulate, prepared and trained. Everything from the wallet they found at the San Diego airport to the burned truck is planned.

                                        He's not up there.

All the manpower, the technology, door to door searches, they came up empty.

They tried the heat seeker and came up with nothing.

Either he's underground or out of the area.

So you don't think he's smart, articulate and prepared huh? Did you read the manifesto? There's a lot of rambling, but he makes a point. The dude was a Lieutenant in the Navy which means he is not that stupid. He is not someone who just blew a gasket and started shooting like most madmen, NO; he was fired in 2007 which means he had 4-5 years to think and plan ahead. There's a reason the LAPD's massive search has yielded no results. The only clues they have found, are clues he planted...

Smart?? Articulate. He was a Navy Reservist. He never served a day anywhere near a combat zone. He barely made it through the academy. Now he starts this the day he separates from the Navy? The guys a mental case. The sooner they take him out the better.

His rambling "manifesto" is no more logical than the others left behind. So many forget his case was heard in the courts away from LAPD...where he LOST.

In the 4 days that the LAPD has accomplished SQUAT, fugitive Chris DoorKnob has spoken to five Jehova's Witnesses knocking on his door at the Crazy 8 Hotel & Casino in Claremont (or is it Montclair?). Four days of a diet consisting mainly of Four Loko and Pork Rinds leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Like I said in previous posts I had a cousin that worked for the LAPD for years and knows first hand of their racist attitudes and how they sweep crap under the so called rug. There are plenty of instances of the Good Ole Boy attitudes at the LAPD. They can say and do what they want. They dont want the truth to get out, they are scared because once this guy exposes them the jig will be up and they dont want that. Yes this guy may have made a mistake and killed some people (not good) but nobody knows what they will do when pushed far enough...what would anyone do? By the way, Charlie Sheen you forgot to give the guy your phone number.

While I don't condone the way he went about it. I understand where he is coming from. The LAPD is one of the most corrupt police departments in the US and everybody knows it. He tried to make things right by bringing issues up as they occurred and they fired him. Sometimes, people react the wrong way as in this case, but the facts remain: The LAPD plays poker with peoples lives out there, the let people die in the streets on a daily basis and are just out there to get they're own. Mr. Dorner should have gone to the media with facts, proofs, testimonies and even video if possible, but he took the worst possible path and now he will be vilified for it.

I agree he should be caught and brought to justice now, but so should the LAPD. There should be a federal investigation and, if need be, replace the entire force!

I agree he went about this all wrong and must be brought in and punished, but the LAPD is not innocent at all. They continue to wash a lot of corruption under the carpet and when someone stands up in their department and tries to make things right and then gets fired for - it that is wrong. Granted this was not the path he should have taken to make his point. Officials in the LAPD should also be brought to justice for their corruption - the law is the law no matter who you are.

The only reason you’re turning to the public is you can’t catch him. He is not out to hurt the public and in fact I am betting her burned his car so the police officers would stop hurting citizens. You need to vilify him in hopes that the public will help. I have been burned buy the blue wall myself in Las Vegas, there is nothing transparent about the police department. Brothers in blue to the end even if that end is to destroy the people that it is charged protect. I do not condone his actions in attacking the family members of the people involved, but I understand his rage. I have also served in the US armed forces and I understand his objectives. I do think that you need to end this because we all know you’re not going to get caught. I also understand that mindset. At this point you need to turn yourself into the US Military. I think at this point it is the only way you’re going to find the justice you deserve.

Nah, that low information jury didn't know the difference between DNA and Campbells alphabet soup. They thought LAPD found M&Ms.

Yes, and Dorner mentions that in his manifesto. The LAPD's intent on making sure OJ got hammered backfired and caused the jury to let him walk. Though it's true that jury were pretty dumb to begin with...but even then, the prosecution thought it was a slam dunk so they allowed Cochrane to have his way in the selection process....anywho...

MarilynMD very good point....the reason OJ was innocent is because of the screw up of the named detective

For OJ: The DNA evidence was thrown out because of lab technicians. Even though there was a bucket of blood evidence. That means all you had left were the glove and the DNA on those were also discounted. That means if you can't convict, it is because the lab was unfit.

I doubt that any deaths will be avoided by the LAPD admitting that they are wrong. This guy already murdered 3 people and attempted to kill 2 more; think he will give himself up now for an apology? He's already looking at life behind bars. At this point, I think he will decide to go down in a blaze of glory.

If it were not for other people doing cops work on snitch lines where people have turned against people they would have nothing to do but give tickets

Why the hell would they offer a reward? Who in their right mind would take on Dorner for a reward ?

Since there's alot of guns in LA...and the reward is for a 6 ft tall and around 250 pound black man.

All you have to do is sneak up on him and.......

A million dollar reward in CA is not that much anymore. After the recent tax increases, you have enough left for cheetos, malt liquor and some fried chicken.

Hmm, let's see...if I had information on Dorner's whereabouts, I could collect a $1 million reward and most likely, my identity would be kept confidential. What's to think about? If he's taken alive, he'll more than likely be sentenced to death anyway, so I really doubt you'd ever have to worry about him coming after you.

@bebe, the LAPD would probably give up their source and try to catch him at your house! It's as good as any plan they might have right now.

I believe it was telling the truth the whole time but I do not agree with the killings now they want to reopen the case they should have done that long time ago .I just pray there is no more people killed but I do believe he will not be taken alive and the truth will never come out.

I doubt there's anything serious about reopening anything to do with this. It's a feeble attempt to make all the 'correct' moves so that when he gets taken down they can say 'we tried, we took another look but there wasn't anything there'. I don't believe for one second Dorner is buying into that angle.....he's already been screwed, blewed and tattooed by them and I've read he stated that AFTER they re-open the investigation and clear his name he'll stop. What are the chances of any of that happening?

nothing about this adds up I believe dorner may just been set up again so many innocent hard working men are screwed because they find out secrets of the corrupt if this is the case hopefully someone helps dorner reveil the truth. possibly just another cover up story if you innocent dorner goodluck and god bless

                                                      49'r-you are correct!
These cops are inept at best, and cannot even track and kill one of their own. Take the $1M and give it to the to ladies shot, as a starter in their law suit against the LAPD. They deserve a lot more than a new pickp!
This guy, if he is still around and not in Chicago, will show up at some spot a d take out another cop. Wait for that, and then take him out. No reward.
