Police in the Bronx say they were able to catch a suspected rapist by tracking him through the cellphone he stole from his alleged victim.
The 15-year-old girl was walking home after getting off the 5 train in the Morris Park section of the Bronx Tuesday night when she was sexually assaulted, police said. Her attacker then stole her phone and fled.
Police were able to use the GPS-enabled Find My Phone app to track the phone, and hours later, the suspect was found not far from where the assault happened.
The man, described as being in his 20s, was being questioned by police Wednesday.

Granted he's a pice of crap. But consider this - who's going to decide who deserves to just be killed? You? Or you let the government decide? You might think it's common sense, but I've found that with the government and most people common sense just aint that common. I'll take the rule of law any day.

Max, are you wanting to have kids carrying guns? That's ridiculous. A 15 year old is rarely responsible enough to carry a gun. Now if you're talking about things like mace, or teaching self-defense tactics like using keys or kubotan, I'm all for that. I support the right to bear arms, and would have loved to hear that a responsible gun owner had been passing by at the time, but sadly, it didn't happen that way. Why don't we teach reasonable self-defense in schools? I remember being taught some when I went to high school.

saxon Do you believe everything you read on the internet? Internet blogs can blur the truth. If that is true it wouldn't surprise me that he was arrested many times. This is what happens when jails are filled with non violent offenders with charges like simple pot possession. Put the real offenders behind bars who are threats to others.

Interesting. Now why would that be? Because I defend the rule of law instead of vigilante justice? I didn't defend that piece of dung, just defended the process of trial. And I didn't say anything about what the penalty should be.

Then the Supreme Court decided that the death penalty could not be applied for "simple" rape cases. Since that ruling came down, the attitude of men toward rape seems to have changed; they seem to view rape as a "victimless" crime unless it results in death or in outward signs of physical damage.
Or, of course, unless the person who was raped is someone of consequence.. meaning money or political or social standing.

No problem. Easy for people to jump to conclusions in a forum like this. I'm all for making the punishment fit the crime. But I don't think, like apparently some people here, that just anybody should feel free to kill someone that's they think is a POS. What makes us different from the scum and many other countries is our rule of law. Pain in the arse sometimes, but I don't think I'll start trusting just anybody to decide who's the POS-of-the-day, lol. Fair trial first, then off them if they deserve it.
Prayers for the child to heal and recover. Also, I hope the criminal rapist get's throw in a cell with an Arian brotherhood member or two.

Ronald Hussein Regan...not an obsession but certainly what a brutal rapist deserves...a life never knowing when his own crimes will come back to haunt him. So what would you suggest. Slap him on the fanny and let him out in a couple of years because he is rehabilitated?
Personally, I say stack convicted rapists like cord wood in a cell and leave them there. There will always be someone bigger and stronger just waiting for cowards like this.
rockinmoroccan....If you looked at the clip it showed the 22 year old, African American male, in handcuffs being led to a waiting police car. If the clip had shown a 22 year old, white male, in handcuffs being led to a waiting police car I would have suggested he become cell mates with the Crips or MS-13 members. You know the stuff of a rapist's worst nightmares.
Show us a picture of the rapist. I'm sure his momma would want to know what he be up to when he not be home.
There is a picture with the news clip. The police are walking him to the car in cuffs. I would imagine his mother is mortified to know that her son would do such a thing.

How about that - the smart phone is smarter than at least some of the criminals out there. Of course, most common criminals just aint that smart to begin with, so maybe it's not such a big deal after all.
Its great to see a piece of garbage like the perp, get caught so quickly, especially with the evidence. It might have been better not to print how he was found, as it kind of tips criminals off on how they can avoid the same fate.
One consolation is that most of these thugs don't go on the internet or read newspapers.
We have to say apps like this have put many people behind bars for stealing everything from computers, to IPads, to cellphones. It works. Even apps in cars are working out as well.

I don't know why the media makes known that a criminal could get caught if he uses a stolen cell phone. Does anyone think that criminals that read this will make that same mistake? They aren't really that smart and this isn't the first time that media educates with 'how-to' and 'how-not-to information. Give me a break!
