Subscribe to RSSNEW YORK -- A Brooklyn rabbi is being accused of trying to lure an undercover detective posing as a 14-year-old girl to meet for sex.
The Brooklyn district attorney's office says Nathan David Rabinowich was arrested Wednesday after he showed up at a pre-arranged meeting in Queens.
He's being held pending arraignment on charges of attempted rape, attempted criminal sexual act and attempted endangering the welfare of a child. A telephone message left with his attorney was not immediately returned.
Authorities say the 59-year-old rabbi, who also operates a tour business, faces up to four years in prison if convicted.

How long have they been busting people like this? How many times has Dateline publicly exposed these perverts? How stupid do you have to be to attempt it? Some perverts will never learn.
Maybe that's because they've had good luck so far and think getting caught is for the weak minded, it couldn't ever happen to someone as smart as a Rabbi....or a repeat sex offender.
I am amazed that this is the third sex case against orthodox jews in the past couple of years with a Rabbi who was sentenced like 2 weeks ago with raping several young women: and the man who kidnapped, molested and chopped up a child. What is going on in this world?

But for the last few years, our illustrious media has been seeking out and sensationalizing the most scandalous, disgusting crap they can find to "report" on. And the more "reporting" of this crap they do, the more it gives ideas to the sickos who may otherwise never act out on their perversions.

So......if it's never reported..... it really didn't happen? And that's because.......nobody could have thought about it? Or read about it? Or seen porno movies about it?
When people get knowledge they can either use it for doing good or doing bad. Probably most do good, but as we see here, maybe not all. Now people know to keep an open eye on the Catholic Priests when there's young boys around, and keep an eye on the Rabbis when there's young girls around.

HarleMan....I'm not one for giving advice, but I think while it's always good to keep the memories of past injustices alive so as not to let them happen again, dwelling on injustices that occured many generations ago will do nothing to put those demons to rest and allow a person to get the best life possible for themselves. Those dies were cast, keep vigilant for bad people trying to repeat them, but don't become consumed by the past......ours is to control the present and future.
You people know nothing of Sally Hemings or Jefferson.
First off, Jefferson inherited his slaves via marriage to his wife. He carried on in Paris with Sally Hemings some years after his wife died. Under French law, she could have stayed in France and been free but chose to go back. He paid her while in France (since slavery was illegal there).
His own views on slavery were conflicted; he signed a bill banning the importation of slaves. He was opposed to slavery conceptually but for pragmatic reasons did not push to try to end it in Virginia (or the rest of the US... he figured the issue could/would destroy the Union). He freed all 4 (surviving) children with Sally Hemings when they came of age. When Jefferson died, the rest were freed. For a man of his time and place, his views were relatively enlightened.

Obama should have had him speak at his inauguration....This is not about Jews, catholics or any organization...it is about human behavior and urges. Why do people keep mentioning religions... religions are made up of people, the world is made up of people. Some people are immoral and evil some are not...doesn't matter if you are in church or not..It is like the police force...people assume that someone changes from the person they were when they carry a badge..they are the same person...most people are bereft of common sense and are quick to lash out, this is not a form of higher intelligence that humans are purported to have.
There may be different religions...but there is only ONE God.......this is why man exists and dies.

true. it' all cultural morals and laws. the age of consent is a joke. if a girl is 17yrs, 11 months and 364 days old, she's a child. a day later she's a legal adult. most cultures age of consent is way below 18, or 17.

9 years old is generally beyond the pale (child vs adolescent). Line ought to be drawn SOMEWHERE. What, 6 month old babies? I also look at the other behavior, such as whether or not Jefferson was the kind to execute prisoners of war who surrendered (Mohammed did that).

Well about +1000 years of civilization separates Thomas Jefferson from Mohammed and +600 for Genghis Khan. Around menstruation has been the norm for most all of human history. The age thing these days is there to help older ladies hold on to their successful husbands. I can almost guarantee you that if the age of consent were what it was in the 19th century there would be a lot more divorced 26 year old women.
If your assertions were correct, then Idaho and Hawaii - where age of consent is 14 - should have more divorced women than other states. They don't.
@mpa-4893349 I checked - 16 both states. Still a felony for anyone over 18 to engage with anyone younger than 18 - consensual or otherwise. The consent law of 16 is for teenagers between the ages of 16-17 to engage with each other. I should have qualified my " hypothetical claim" to reflect that.
My apologies also, I was looking at some old data. It is still a state issue, though, and in some of the 16 age states, that age of consent is total.
