Subscribe to RSSNEW YORK -- A Brooklyn rabbi is being accused of trying to lure an undercover detective posing as a 14-year-old girl to meet for sex.
The Brooklyn district attorney's office says Nathan David Rabinowich was arrested Wednesday after he showed up at a pre-arranged meeting in Queens.
He's being held pending arraignment on charges of attempted rape, attempted criminal sexual act and attempted endangering the welfare of a child. A telephone message left with his attorney was not immediately returned.
Authorities say the 59-year-old rabbi, who also operates a tour business, faces up to four years in prison if convicted.

It is very obvious that you don't have the slightest idea what you are talking about, which is pretty much true of all the Catholic bashers like you. If you are so sure of yourself, why don't you crack open a copy of our Catechism and see how wrong you are.
Regarding your major points, Catholics have NEVER prayed TO statues, Saints, or the Blessed Mother. Catholics use religious objects (like a crucifix--have you got one of those? I'll bet you do) for inspiration while praying to the triune God and God alone, and ask the Saints and the Blessed Mother to pray TO God as well on our behalf--just like you asking your megachurch millionaire preacher to pray along with you, except the prayers of the Saints and especially Jesus' mother (who is treated with shameful disrespect by many Protestants, despite being the Lord's beloved mother and the Ark which conveyed the Word of God made flesh to mankind) are about a billion times louder in His ears. Catholics read the bible every Sunday, and many read it more often than that. The difference is that we accept the entire bible, not just the parts we agree with (Protestants have thrown out entire books on a whim--so much for the sanctity of the scripture) and we treat the bible as an integral entity rather than as a blunt instrument for mindless rote memorization.
Finally, it's pretty much impossible to define what a Protestant is, since there are literally hundreds of denominations vying for attention, each with a carefully crafted message designed to appeal to a select group of people. By contrast, there are over a billion Catholics in the world,and we all believe the exact same things, just as taught by Jesus and handed down by tradition through the apostles until, hundreds of years later, they were written down in the bible.
Please learn about our faith before you trash it based on a bunch of unfounded nonsense that some crackpot preacher taught you once.

This is a lot better that a religious person wanted to meet someone of the opposite sex versus the perverted priests who want to butt fuxx little boys. All religions have bad apples but the Catholics are the worse.
Thirty years of criminal law and by my count only 98% of the pedophiles I have represented or seen were not religious. This being Massachusetts they were Democrats.
for all of you Catholic bashers out there I really find it very tiresome that everytime there is a sexual predator priests and the priesthood are immediately attacked. As a matter of FACT, the Catholic church has done more than any other institution to ensure this type of thing no longer happens. They do extensive background checks on everyone who is any ministry position and classes are given every single year that are mandatory for everyone serving in any capacity. If you recall, back when all the "cover ups" were happening that is when the psychological community said they could fix the abusers through therapy. Obviously that isnt true. So the church gave the benefit of the doubt and was hopeful that these men could be rehabilitated. I agree completely that pedophiles need to be locked away forever as they cannot be rehabilitated. Sadly I think the pedophiles are created by abuse suffered when they themselves are children. Is there any way to stop this cycle? I dont know. It has nothing to do with celibacy. Married men and women are guilty of this even more than the priests but the media makes a bigger deal out of the priests than any others. Or when women are the abusers it is joked about and the young boys are given "atta boys." Sick double standards.
Thanks, Cheryl--well said, and all too true. It's fashionable and PC to ridicule Catholics, so everybody jumps on the bandwagon without having the slightest idea of the facts. Catholics are about the only group of people I can think of that folks are actually encouraged to criticize and hate.

Pardon me, but would like to remind everyone, no matter what....whenever man, ie humans, are concerned....there will ALWAYS be perversion. A small tale of when I was at my best friends house when I was 10-12 yrs old: My friends Aunt was visiting, she just happened to be a nun. We were talking to her & the conversation turned to the orphanages run by the nuns. She said & I quote, "The reason they want the children to go to catholic families is that part of the kids are the result of fornification of the priests & the nuns. I find these days I can be closer to god on a park bench, the couch, or anywhere but church.

First to Bart. Sorry I do not believe you. It is not illegal anywhere in the U.S. to talk to a strange woman. If that were the case, thousands of men would be in prison for meeting a woman in a bar. As to pedophiles, that has much to do with the culture. The current thinking in the U.S. is that any girl under 16 or 18, depending upon the state, is considered underage. That is the current thinking but in the past in the U.S. it was totally different. Girls were getting married at 13. Many were betrothed when they reached 9 years of age. Their husbands were usually in their 30's or 40's because no parent would consider allowing their daughter to marry some man who was not stable and that meant at least 30+. Mary, the mother of Jesus, was pregnant with Jesus anywhere from 13 - 15 years of age and "Old" Joseph was the father. There is no mention as to his age so he could have been anywhere from 45 to 65 years of age. Today he would be in prison. Loretta Lynn says she was 13 when she got married but recent info indicates likely 15 or 16. I would also remind you that Laruen Bacall was 19 when she hooked up with Bogie and he was 45. In any case, it is a legal issue and any man knows that pursuing a girl under the age of consent is a felony and the Rabbi knew that. This was not simply a case of a man pursuing an undeage girl but also a man who others look up to as a model for morality and teaching of morality. He not only failed as a man but also as a person of faith.
