Police in New Jersey say they've arrested three members of the long-running "James Bond Gang" that had been targeting high-end homes in affluent neighborhoods across the tri-state for years.
The suspects were caught while police in Bergen County were staked out near a home that was being targeted by the robbers Wednesday evening, according to Sparta Police Sgt. John-Paul Beebe.
Police were deployed to the town of Sparta when a task force in Bergen County learned that the gang was preparing to target homes there and was on its way in a minivan with Michigan license plates, said Beebe. There, police officers found fresh footprints in the snow leading up to the front door of a home on Greenfield Hill that appeared to be unoccupied, said Beebe. The door had been forced open and several rooms had been ransacked.

Around the same time, a police sergeant saw the suspect minivan pass where he was positioned, according to Beebe. He followed the vehicle, while alerting other police officers patrolling the area. They were able to block the minivan, and removed three men from it.
Investigators at the scene recovered a pillow case containing pieces of jewelry from the burglary at Greenfield Hill that had apparently been tossed into the woods by the men.
Police arrested Leevan Lawrence, 30, of Englewood; Courry Rice, 29, of Hackensack; and Jerry Montgomery, 31, of Teaneck, the reputed leader of the gang. All three were charged with burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and theft of movable property. Montgomery, who resisted arrest at the scene, was additionally charged.
Attorney information for the suspects was not immediately available.
The group of burglars had been operating in New Jersey for years and recently expanded to Rockland County in New York, according to police. At one burglary in Orangetown in early January, thieves took $30,000 worth of jewelry.
"It is a large group," Lt. Mark Emma of the Haverstraw Police Department told NBC 4 New York last month. "They've been in operation long enough that maybe their children have taken up the family profession, so to speak."
The burglars strike when a home is vacant, and disable alarm systems before bursting in. They typically strike at dusk, in high-end developments, and usually show up in luxury vehicles.
Several members of the long-running gang have been caught and sent to prison over the years. But new members are then recruited and the gang stays in operation.
Police continue to warn that the gang remains "intact, active and proficiently dangerous" despite Wednesday's arrests. Residents are urged to stay vigilant and contact police immediately if they see any suspicious behavior.

it's a bag you can find in every home so you don't have to take one with you. they like using bed sheets for larger or more items.

I do see how many bigots are just plain stupid.
To bad they don't list which brands of alarms they are able to disable so people don't buy them.
To disable an alarm system you merely have to cut the phone line to the house.
Too much Hollywood, basics. Most alarm systems are much more sophiticated than they used to be. Have you heard of "wireless?"
Before entering the house, you should jam the wireless signal, cut lines for phone & cable, and disable power box. Isolate the house first then cook it. Remember to cover all your tracks including anyone entering the house and come in contact with you. That's James Bond Style. Those guys get caught because they are not the pros.
When you have a hi-end life you need cell-back-up on your alarm system. These guys were probably just cutting phone lines which in itself is a felony!

Reminds me of the infamous Pansco family of Chicago. All pro burglars with specialist "second story" men. They were constantly on Chicago news in the 60's and 70's. Their attorneys checked on them daily.
Several of these fellows had previous arrests and/or were out on bail. (See www.nj.com for story). What's up with our judicial system that burglars are back out on the street so quickly. The main reason that they aren't active in Pennsylvania is that everyone is armed in Pa. Bam, bam, bam, bam...problem solved.

Pay attention We the people of the United States, this police action is only for publicity that New York detectives are doing there jobs. Yet what happened to the rest of the neighborhoods that are ruled by gangs. Decades of killing,rape,prostitutes,drugging our children. It is time American to take back our neighborhood and demand politician place into law, to ban gangs. Chicago just had on the news that there is a new number individual Chicago has on there list is gang leader, that is now south of the border. This is suppose to make the citizens of Chicago feel like Chicago is doing there job. Chicago needs to replace this elderly commission on crime. Get individuals who will drive the entire gang members back across the border. Out of the neighborhoods. If the United States can put into law banning smoking, Why can't they put into law banning gangs. Cigarettes kill and so do gangs. Terrorists are in prison. Patricia, the government makes more money from drug running and crime than they do taxes on smokes. It's all about the cash. If our politicians were serious about stopping the REAL criminals the fines for banks that launder money for cartels and other criminal organizations would be much higher. Also the individuals involved with laundering the money would be imprisoned for lengthy terms, not made to resign from that bank and pick up where they left off at another.
With the proper paperwork filed with the proper departments, I promise I can not only signed confessions from these @sswipes, but the names, addresses, phone numbers, and johnson diameters of every single other body involved with them within 48 hours.
Just need full immunity and no questions asked.
