It seems like there are a lot of scumbags out there that start a specific business to prey upon certain people. How sad it is for this woman not to mention how devastated her mother must feel.

As a parent myself, I wouldn't be able to help but to blame myself (Human nature...) for not being able to protect my child even though there is nothing I could have done to prevent it from happening.

After all, her mother worked hard her whole life trying to make sure her daughter received the best care and tried to prevent anything horrible from happening to her child.

Sadly, Key, that would probably not diminish his (or others like him) desire to do harm to innocents. If indeed there is proof beyond any doubt, these folks should no longer be permitted to live. That might be a strong deterrent to people like him.

It's the same scenario of a bad person in a position of trust with easy access to the vulnerable. I still believe in the "eye for an eye" system of justice. Just do to him what he did to others. Then put to sleep.

We don't know her functioning level and she my not have been abel to artuculate waht was happening or even if she could express herself she may have thought she had to go along with it. I worked with dd adults and sometimes they are not taght what is aceptable. I had a client ask me if whathe brother-in law was doing was ok. He was molesting her in the car when he picked her up for Sunday school. I am not sure I would have known had I not talke to her. These kind of people are good at hiding evil.

The problem key2joy is that there can be DNA evidence while still having no rape occur. There are times that women claim to have been raped after having consensual sex. So while there would be DNA, the guy did not rape the woman. That is why we dont kill or castrate them. The problem with prosecuting for rape is that it is very hard to show absolute proof of rape, which is what we need to convict people.

What IS it with our senior sinners nowadays? It used to be that violent crimes were committed by young single males!

I had to read your comment twice before I realized you were talking about the sex idiot and not the TEA GARBAGE.

It seems they have a sound case against this guy, but those who holler loudest about killing or castrating rapists should keep in mind that there have been quite a few times that men were accused of rape and weren't guilty. But that was before DNA testing, of course.

I have little sympathy for this guy, and my gut reaction is also to castrate rapists. Well, that might make them unable to forcibly have intercourse with a woman, but it might also leave them otherwise sound of body and warped emotionally, so they might resort to torture and slow killing of women. So, on the whole, wholesale castrating of rapists might be counter-productive.

Can rapists be rehabilitated? If not, why bother, but if they can, then it's worth the effort to try. People seem so determined to punish wrong-doers instead of rehabilitating them, so they spend a few years in prison with others who are more low-life than they are, and then they "graduate" (get paroled) with an advanced degree in criminal behavior. I don't think that's working too well for the general public.

I think most criminals who harm others by their behavior should spend several years making compensation to the victims in some fashion. Just throwing them in cages to punish them, well, that creates employment in the "criminal justice industry" but it provides no long-term benefit to the public.

And those who broke laws in which there was no victim, well, they shouldn't be in prison at all. Give them a fine, maybe 30 days in jail, and then release them. I'm tired of hearing about pot-smokers and johns who pay for sex being thrown in with some of the serial killers, pedophiles and sadists of every stripe. Consequences! If you're doing something that harms no other being, you shouldn't be thrown into the snake pit that some prisons are today, where they may be homosexually raped, bullied and made to feel bitter and vengeful.

We really don't have a very high degree of civilization when it comes to a rational way to treat criminals. Some can be "cured" and released in the public, but frankly, if a cure is impossible, and they pose a great threat to the general public, then humane execution might still be the best course. I'm talking mostly about child-killers, serial killers and mass murderers in this regard.

When I read some of the vicious and sadistic comments on the internet, I wonder how little separates these people from the bad guys they want to torture and mutilate. Is it opportunity? Daring?

castration will not do anything. To prevent him or someone else from doing the unthinkable. People that do this kind of stuff, have no moral compass and do not believe their going to get caught. A person that has no humanity in them cannot be cured. It's not an illness that you can treat, they will just lie and tell you what they think you want to hear. Some on this earth just lack emotions, and see the world as their golden land of opportunity. Darwinists would call them successful predators, most likely to pass on their genes. But when we find them, we need to lock them away, until they die. because any expression of compassion for them would be seen as a sign of weakness.

I am afraid you are one of the problems

I stop by my local Walgreens a couple times a week. Every week - there is a blind, mentally disabled woman sitting by the door. The "home" she lives in has a van drop her off there to "shop." She sits uncomfortably for HOURS, anyone with a van could pick this woman up, each week is a different driver. As a country, we do not take care of those who need compassionate care the most. It is not just this man.... this happens daily to those who cannot defend themselves from a situation like this....

What about the boys from Glen Ridge, NY (1993) their lives were not ruined- yet their actions were horrific, but they were very wealthy and white... their attack was brutal...their sentence - minimal

Benjamin Cohen of the New Jersey Superior Court sentenced three young men to prison for a sexual assault they had committed more than eight years earlier and for which, after a highly publicized five-month trial, they were convicted in March 1993. Kevin and Kyle Scherzer, twin brothers who are now 26, and Christopher Archer, 25, were at last sent to jail for their actions when they and 10 other teen-age boys, all popular high school athletes, persuaded a 17-year old mentally retarded girl (I.Q. of 64, according to the prosecution, and reading comprehension of an 8-year-old), a neighborhood girl most of them had grown up with, to walk with them one mild spring afternoon to the Scherzer boys' basement recreation room in the affluent suburb of Glen Ridge, N.J., where they stripped, sexually humiliated, orally sodomized and finally raped her with a baseball bat and a broom handle. Six of the 13 boys, when they realized what was happening, left the basement (none tried to stop the assault); the next day, the same group, with a few new additions, tried to con the girl into a repeat performance. (They seem to have shared the fantasy of making a pornographic movie and had even solicited the help of a kid at school who had access to camera equipment.) On handing down his sentence, Judge Cohen declared to the three handsome young white men in business suits and their attorneys and friends: ''This has gone on long enough. There must be some finality.'' [...]And if justice was done, Mr. Lefkowitz's book [Our Guys] implies that it is the kind of justice obtainable by people like the parents of the three convicted boys, whose lawyers managed to keep the kids out of jail until they were in their mid-20's and then got them light sentences (light even for young adult offenders) at medium-security campus-style prisons, from which Christopher Archer and Kevin Scherzer can be released on parole in two years and Kyle Scherzer in 10 months.

A mentally challenged 15-year-old girl was gang-raped beneath her desk during class — only feet away from her teachers — at an Elmont, N.Y., school, according to a lawsuit filed Friday. When the girl reported the horrific incident the next day, school officials failed to report it, the victim’s mother claimed in the suit.

I concur. Criminals who harm others SHOULD have to spend years, if necessary, making compensation to the victims. That should drive home the "lesson" better than what happens today, and might provide some benefit to the victim(s).

I agree. Make them do the most back breaking and tiresome work, and give all the money that they would make from it to the victims. Maybe that's what your prison sentence can be. Once you pay back a certain amount of money from your labor (and only from the labor, no rich guys getting off with rape here) then you can be free to go. And if you could never repay the millions of dollars you would owe for rape or murder, so be it.

You do know there will be a trial don't you. You do know that no matter how much venting is being done here he will be tried and sentenced if found guilty. At that point the punishment needs to be severe, no more mollycoddling rapists.

There are many, many lower forms of life walking the streets of America. Unfortunately, they also rarely get life in prison/death penalty ... or are even arrested. Over 30 years, we have become a nation with no moral standards, which has allowed so many violent, mentally broken males to end back on the streets.

Guilt or innocence is for the court system, and we all know what a great job they do every day, right? This forum is a court of public opinion, yours and mine, a chance to blow off some of the steam caused by the very people who thought up and sponsor this blog, because they are craftier than your average bear.

Hang this guy and save us all some money. And Zimmerman too.

You make perfect sense. I am not sure I would have included the comment about conservatives, but other than that you are right on the mark. We have a justice system, and like it or not it is what we have. Those calling for automatic and irrational punishments don't seem to have the same respect for law as you have. In their eyes, as soon as you are accused, then you are guilty. Sounds like the Nazis, radical Islamists, and all sorts of other dictatorships we have fought over the years. It's funny how the anonymity of the internet makes so many people brave and vengeful. Their really a bunch of wimps who hide behind their keyboards.
