A winter storm initially expected to produce blizzard-like conditions in parts of New England brought moderate snow and strong winds to the region on Sunday.
Forecasters had said up to a foot of snow would be possible in areas of New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts, but the storm was moving out of the region Sunday afternoon after less than half that amount had accumulated.
For southeastern New England, including Boston, the snow totaled 3 to 5 inches, Boston.com reported. The snow and ice in the city caused flights arriving to Logan International Airport to be delayed an average of 52 minutes.
Meanwhile, arctic air and heavy winds meant below-freezing temperatures in New England and wind chills in the single digits across the whole eastern U.S. over the weekend, weather.com reported.

“What will be noteworthy today are the winds which will be especially strong along the coast,” Meteorologist David Epstein said. “At times some coastal areas south of Boston could see wind gusts hit 50 miles per hour.”
The Weather Channel’s Dr. Greg Postel warned the strong winds could cause scattered power outages throughout the region.
The snow that was hitting the New England area came a day after the moving storm brought 2-3 inches of snow to the Carolinas.
Much of New England just finished digging out after a historic winter storm that dumped 30 inches of snow on parts of Massachusetts and even more in Connecticut.

wow ----- looks like i moved away from boston just in time. ----- today in southern oregon, it's in the 50's, mostly sunny, and if it wasn't a saturday, and i wasn't at work, i might even be out golfing.

King putt-- It rained this week and a couple days sunny in the mid 40's and half the snow melted. It started snowing this morning but turned to light rain and its 36.4 degrees right now so it's unlikely to turn to snow. If we have another week like we just had there will be no snow left.

I was watching the weather report on Al Gores oops I mean the big oil cable net work and it said snow and cold are a result of global warming. So please do not drill for oil and just buy our over priced oil it is good for your mother earth.

In light of the recent outrtage over the Sports illustrated "racist" use of people in other countries, i am outraged that the term "whiteout" is used to discribe a bad weather occurance. It sheads a negitive light on those who are caucasion.
Of course this is sacastic and silly. But so is the controversy over the SI shoot.

So where are the loud mouth Global Warming guys....btw, save your "You do not know anything because you have to look at the whole world crap" because it is the coldest winter in China in 35 years, the ocean have only risen 7.6 inches in the last 130 years per NOAA, and the world has no more drought in the last 60 years than now, and the number of hurricane is less.....AND if New York and New Jersey were 10 feet higher above the ocean....THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO DAMAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Boy!!! it felt good to say that, especially because it is true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is not true!! They have been forecasting alot of snow on the Cape and 2-4 inches inland!! Get it right...MA has much more to it than the Cape and Boston!! The majority of the storm is supposed to go out to the ocean!
2-4" inland wouldn't make a headline though. I read 3-6" this morning..and all we got here all day was barely a dusting.

Winter snow storms used to not dampen the mood of New Englanders because they could celebrate and smile after winning Super Bowls. But after being caught cheating with sideline spy cameras, the Patriots have not been able to win another Super Bowl.
Job, what do the Patriots or the Superbowl have to do with winters in New England.
For years the Patriots were nothing and we STILL enjoyed winter in New England.

The blizzard didn't even help them. Just the ref did. They wanted a night game and snow. They got both and it still took a ref to win.
Many people manage very well to enjoy life without football at all. There were winters in New England long before there were sports teams.
Well, Gosh! I also enjoy winters in New England too since we moved to SC. I also REALLY enjoy winters in upstate NY since we moved to SC. Yep. Really enjoy those winters here.
Now I should think about winter in Montreal. Nah! Next year.

When you start getting a little long in the tooth, winters are not really fun at all. Snow has to be removed to get to the docs, etc.

Zippy, my son called me from CA last weekend after the blizzard here in MA. He is stationed at Ft. Irwin, just outside of Death Valley to tell me it was about 75 there,
I hung up on him..heeheeh
We went boating today in No. Cal. It was 70ish.
Mid 70's and sunny here in SoCal. I'll be having a cigar out back later this afternoon, after my walk on the beach. In shorts and T-shirt. Sweet.

All the whiteys are in Massachusetts now. We often get lectured by Bostonians about racial discrimination, but I wonder what it is about the state that discourages blacks from moving there?

I thought white stormed out of DestroyIt years ago. With all the criminals holed-up due to the weather, maybe law enforcement can get around to testing 10,000+ untested rape kits, or go arrest the last 3 criminal mayors and police chiefs. Oh never mind, that would also require the criminals on city council to get off their ass and do something other than pander to crack heads and union extortionists.

Funny, we didn't get the snow 60 miles from Detroit Metro. We had a light dusting this morning, high winds, and now I have one 12 inch lump of snow on my lawn. I don't get the press making such a big deal of the weather here. It is winter, it snows, and blows. Regarding 94, I know full well what it was like last year going to the airport. Lenawee and Washtinaw Counties were well maintained. The second my tires crossed into Wayne County there was trouble. No salt, no maintining. I drove 20-25 miles per hour on black ice on 94 for miles and miles. There were so many accidents that were such a waste. If the roads had a bit of salt, there would have not been near as many accidents. There may be a minimum of 45 mph on those roads, but it is impossible to drive that and not get in an accident. We've commuted perhaps a million miles in our livetimes and that was one of the worst drives in our driving history. We've had times when returning home from work there were 3 foot drifts over US12. At one point as traffic was stopped during the 5mph drive on over an inch of ice and whiteouts, I opened the door to see the road which was literally an ince of ice. Last year's 94 experience was worse. We've driven in Ann Arbor downhill using the curb to stop in bumper to bumper traffic because A2 doesn't know what it means to clean their streets, but the 94 experience was worse. Black Ice sucks and I will bet that is just what they had today with the winds.
zippy, when the cal goverment finds out you have a ski boat, they will slap such a tax on it, that you'll have to take to Arizona to sale.

I know, I know.... when I went to school 30 years ago in the Suburbs of Detroit... they made us go to school... AND we had recess and gym outside..........!!!!!!!!! Ten inches didn't even make the news.....so what... go to school, work, the gym.. big deal...... like R. Lee Ermy says.... a bunch of "namby pambys."
And of course it was all up hill, into the wind, without any boots or a coat................ damn we were tough!!!!! Or was that Granddad??????????? No...he was all uphill... into the wind... on ground up glass... with no shoes and no coat... or breakfast!!!!!!!!!!!
