F-16 fighter jets intercepted two aircraft after they entered temporarily restricted airspace near the Florida club where President Barack Obama was spending the long President’s Day weekend.
In a statement on its Facebook page, NORAD said two F-16s were sent to deal with a Lancair 320 aircraft “that was not in communications with air controllers … near Port St. Lucie,” Fla., at 5:10 p.m. Sunday.
“Following the intercept, the … aircraft was escorted out of the [area] and allowed to continue on," it added.
NORAD also said in another Facebook posting that a Cessna was caught inside the off-limits zone at about 9:30 a.m. ET Saturday.
“Following the intercept, the aircraft departed the [restricted area] and landed at Okeechobee Airport where it was met by local authorities,” the statement said.
Obama is taking three days off in Florida while Michelle Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia are in Colorado on a skiing trip.
He is staying at the Floridian, described by The Associated Press as “an exclusive and secluded yacht and golf club on the state's Treasure Coast.”
On Sunday, the president played a round of golf with Tiger Woods at the club.

How are you supposed to know where he'll be. They don't tell you. He's no more special then you or me,and they couldn't intercept the planes on 911.
The FAA puts out a Notice to Airman (NOTAM) about 24 hours prior. Pilots call the Flight Service Station before they fly to get NOTAMS. Since the President has been in Florida for a few days, it was well known that there was a TFR (Temporary Flight Restriction) for the area. The Pilot made an easy mistake that is going to cost him a lot of money.
He is more special than you and these planes were not in communication with controllers. Did you read the article?
@takenaka-- If you think he's more special then the people he surves. You'll always be a peeon.
Actually Teeka he is more special than you or even I,otherwise you would be the Leader of the United States. What is it about you insignificant lil Teabaggers? Being white makes you important?
You mention 911 and us not intercepting plans then.. Well, guess why they do such a better job of intercepting plans now.. Yeah, you guessed it, it is because 911 happened at all.
Also, So you think the press is not special, ok, Ill go along with that but a lot of other people will get hurt and killed if some nut bag tries to use plans to assassinate the press. The man is not anything but a commoner to you and that is cool, but there are plenty of people in this world that will do anything, including killing as many innocent people as possible just to get at the press.
It is for that reason alone you should have no problems with these interceptions.
Mary - Barack Obama the man is no more special than anyone else. The President of the United States, whoever that might be, is a target and is deserving of special protection. It is not only in the interest of the person of POTUS, but of interest to all of us that our President not be assassinated.
Maybe there was no communications because they were DRONES...
@Willie53---- I now see why this country is in the shape it's in. I see all men aren't created equal. Your the one that said it.
Willie 53, racist much?
The President is white have you seen his mother, his kids are skiing in Colorado for crying out loud.
The way Tiger's been playing, Obama probably won...fair and square this time.
I don't care if he's white, black, red, yellow or what ever. He is the person we elected, but he is no better then anyone of us. I won't go on. He's not GOD and neither are those before him.
wilsonarden, this is not a site for your free advertising
everyone, click on the exclamation point in her post and click advertising...maybe we can get her suspended for life.
He is only is important because he was elected president, not "special". Being "special" is as debatable as calling someone else stupid.
Teekon did not bring up race, you did.
Understand that looking for "racism" is practicing racism. By promoting a race by defaming another using race, when they didn't even hint at race is no different than a person putting someone down because they are a particular race.
wow, good going...her post is deleted already.
@Qe137
Who can imagine that Obama will be taking his second vacation of the year. Most Americans ,in this bad economy have to money to have vacation, Obama is out of touch with the mainstream American.
Burble Beef samrg barfknarkle...
McCain and Graham are on the loose so I say F-16's are needed to fend off the insanity !!!
are you people insecure? The president is an office that needs to be protected. Its not the person but the position. just like saluting a captain.... you salute the rank, not the person
Is this president ever NOT on vacation?
He never meets with Congress. He won't talk to Republicans. He won't talk with business leaders.
He comes out makes a speech about gun control, immigration, or allowing gays to join the Boy Scouts and then goes back to golfing or goes to Hawaii. We have an economy collapsing before our very eyes. Entering another official recession and unemployment HIGHER than when he took office. $6 Trillion more in debt and almost 50% more on Food Stamps. Highest percent on Welfare since the 70's and the lowest Labor Participation rate in almost 50 years. The highest percent unemployed 6 months or more since the Great Depression.
I thought he was going to focus "like a laser" on jobs and the economy? Not unless that "laser" is on the 14th tee.
This president is pathetic and now officially the title holder as the WORST economic recovery in United States history. I don't know what is worse, this pathetic president or the huge number of uninformed and incompetent voters who elected this pathetic president for a second term.
Maryweather. Your just plain wrong. When we elect someone to be our leader, that in and of it's self makes him special. If you don't want to think like that, well that is your option. But the great majority of real Americans think President Obama is very special and his family too.
So, separate vacations the day after Valentine's Day....guess that was a cold day in the WhiteHouse...
Barry-0 goes to South Florida to warm up and Michelle goes to Aspen to warm up ...How much extra is this costing us to have P.0bama in TigerWoodsville and the rest of the 1st. Family in Aspen ??...And all of you'se that vote for him cause he's just like you and he cares about you....Pffffft !!!......You served your purpose....
Just like OJ was scouring all the best Golf Courses for the Real Killers.....0bama is searching them for jobs for the uneducated, unwashed masses....He'll call you on your ObamaPhone when finds you a job....just sit tight, enjoy the freebies, you can count on him.....
Do the rest of us a favor, Obamabots.....when you drink the kool-aid, next time get Jim Jones' Recipe
To QE137 - NORAD intercepted Payne Stewart's plane in 10 minutes, yet couldn't intercept the Plane that hit the Pentagon, 50 minutes after the WTCs were hit. Rather strange, don't you think? One plane scrambled, went out to sea in the wrong direction. I believe Andrews Air Force base is rather close to the Pentagon.
It seems that NORAD was conducting exercises and drills, one of which, simulated a plane accidentally hitting a building in the DC area. Wow, What a coincidence. The drills were called Vigilant Guardian, Northern Vigilance, Vigilant Warrior and another one or two, which I do not know.
I believe VP Cheney was deeply involved in these exercises, during which false blips were put on radar screens electronically. Any intercepting pilots had to wonder, "is it a drill" or is this live. The FAA air controllers were also fooled by the false blips.
There is supposed to be a response as soon as an air controller loses contact with an aircraft, such as when he turns off his IFF or when the aircraft goes off it's assigned flight plan.
This was no incredible cooincidense. It was planned.
Some people in NORAD were in on the false flag attack on 9/11.
AF1 plus F-16 just to go Golfing with Tiger Woods during his vacation in Florida Pres. Obama has no problem to create more carbon prints, like mos of his friends millionaires environmentalist , hypocrites millionaires from Hollywood like Gore and DiCaprio, who have no problem flying in private jets and creating more pollution than 100 cars combined. 18 Holes in the Army-Navy Club in Arlington is much cheaper and our President can stay at home for dinner , like the 99% of Americans that can not afford to fly in a jet to play golf with Tiger Woods.
The Republicans are Pucking Stupid, coined by one of the Republican Governors. Jindal is to honest to be a Republican, Jindal named his party The Stupid Party, Now that is Honesty. All of you Stupid Party people who knock Obama for taking a few days off, are the Stupid Party. I have just been waiting for one of you Stupid Pucks to knock Obama for Playing golf. LOL. It didnt take to long. George Bush took a two week vacation every two months, not counting the time at the ranch. Believe me, WE the Real Americans would have been much better off if Chaney and Bush would have just stayed away throoughout there tenure. I just cant hardly waint until 2014, when the job is finished knocking out the STUPID PARTY.
Yeah Oskar i remember how pissed I was when George W Bush spent a total of 879 days at his ranch in crawford texas while serving as president of the United States, he was even so arrogant as to use MY tax money to fly his entire staff down there. There also were the 487 days he spent at Camp David and over 100 days he spent at other vacation spots. So far President Obama has taken 26 vacations days in 5 years of being in office, thats actually less than I have taken in the past five years.
pro
When he gets up to half the vacation days your boy wonder did. Then come talk to us ok. As far as congress goes. If he says something they are against it. Even if they are the ones who bring the item up. So I would talk to those ass wips either.
Very easy for private pilots to miss something like this. They put out temporary flight restrictions and you are supposed to check them, but after checking for 999 times and there is nothing pertaining to your area, it's easy to get complacent and quick checking. Pehaps the FAA should do some adapting and let pilots sign up for some kind of a web or text based NOTAM system that alerts you pro-actively if there is a NOTAM in effect that affects where you are (maybe one already exists).... The FAA is behind the times technology-wise (their training still instructs pilots to call WXbrief to get weather briefings before they fly but I imagine almost everyone checks the weather via the web now.....
Probusiness, "We have an economy collapsing before our very eyes."
You're smarter than that. No?
Oh he's special alright, right along with the majority of our legislative branch as well.
The only branch we have left that has any common sense at all and has been at the very least up holding our Constitution minimally, but predominantly in some cases is our Judicial branch.
The rest? The majority needs to be fired and there should be MORE regulations on them, than American people, period.
it took 14 minutes to intercept Payne stewarts small plane after they lost contact. and that was before 9/11.just putting that out there for the people who think they just improved reaction time because of 9/11.
See, OBama was right, no one needs an AR-15 assault rifle, especially when you can get a couple F-16's instead.
Especially during campaign season the president goes to a lot of out of the way places where a TFR can pop up out of the blue.
Still it's a waste of OUR precious tax dollars for his vacation. I guess Sequestration wasn't on his mind at the moment. I once heard his press sec. justify time off so he could spend time with his kids. We have troops overseas who go months without seeing their kids.
At least we know someone with the Secret Service was actually watching and not chasing hookers. By the way it is considered HUMAN TRAFFICKING for Military or Government Personnel to solicit a prostitute. All Military and Government Personnel receive thet briefing at least once a year.
Sorry for the rant......
SHEESH! Some people are idiots. Being President of the United States does not necessarily make you a better person than the next, but it does make you a more targeted person. JFK was assassinated even WITH Secret Service protection; and, naturally, since we learn from our mistakes, we now take better care of the POTUS. Would you have suggested that President Reagan just have foregone Secret Service protection and just let Hinckley kill rather than wound him?!
willie53
If I am a TEAbagger, does that make you a teabaggee? You should reference teabagging, online gaming, hazing.
Pro,
that is because Congress and the Republicans are never there. They took something like 200+ days of vacation last year. Looks like they are going to be doing it again this year if this month is any indication.
Even when a pilot files the required flight plan there's no law I'm aware saying they can't change their destination while enroute. They should notify the original landing field of the change ASAP to avoid alerts etc. but they can't be denied landing at an alternate location. Sometimes a small plane inadvertently breaches a restricted air space when they are just zinging around for a joyride. Student pilots routinely fly in wide circles (or squares) That's two ways of at least a dozen a plane could end up in the President's space, no need to treat innocent people like criminals. Sheesch! Can't have nuthin'!!!
To Willie53.... Racist Hater.....
Willie53, you would be the prorblem, as with the media, who see ANY disagreement with the Bozobama as racism, simply because he has black skin. I'm sad for you.
The F-16s should count themselves lucky Obama didn't accidentally skeet shoot them out of the sky.
No, no! You misunderstand! This was President Obama, not Dick Cheney. You remember him, right? His lawyer friend certainly does! Anyway, a shotgun doesn't make much of an anti-aircraft weapon.
Actually, dk (?), shotgun can be. Factors suchs as type, gauge, shot count, speed and altitude of the aircraft, type of aircraft, etc. determine whether or not. Not your OPINION. I have fired large shots, also known as slugs, into moving vehicles a quite a distance.
Thanks Chris.
I nominate your post for the dumbest of the day.
It is early yet though. Make sure you post often so you stay in the running.
I know people like to blame Cheney because it is popular, but Cheney's lawyer friend violated the rules on hunting putting him in harms way. The friend had left the party and instead of returning to the party from behind, took a "short cut" and was not seen by any of the other party members until after he was hit.
He's in Florida while Michelle is in Colorado? Barry's playing golf with Tiger while Michelle hits the slopes with the kids? What's wrong with this picture of the "perfect family"?
Wonder if Tiger has any "tips" for him?
yeah, really, "We need gun control!!" - next scene he's out skeet shooting. Such hypocrisy!
DB Akron
It is the shooters responsibility to make sure at what you are shooting at.
RCWA what a dumb statement and what a Stupid A$$ you are.
Pro freedom: gun control means Crazy people shouldn't have guns. You guys keep crying Gun control is bad. Well smart people think not just anyone should be able to own guns. The Law says Felons can not own guns. Yet we have seen just last weeks In Minn. and In Ohio where the local Police have found Felons with arsenals. One was well on his way to a mass shooting. But you think that is his right to bear Arms is more important I guess. He does not have to right to kill people, No one has that right. What about the rights of those of us that don't want to killed by someone that shouldn't have a gun to start with?
Chuck- "Crazy people shouldn't have guns". Often, it's too late before the crazies with guns are identified so the idea we can separate them out is not even practical. Crazies can still get ahold of a gun because people sell weapons all the time outside of gun shops and gun shows. Ever heard of the black market? Nowhere in my post did I state that the right to bear arms is more important than human life- that's something expressed from your own cranium. No, nobody has the right to take a life with a gun anymore than someone should have the right to defend themself from some nutjob taken away either. It's a tough balance and the current approach, as I said, is the wrong approach obviously as gun-related crimes are on the increase due to the hysteria. No pun but it's a 'loaded' subject as there are millions of guns out there and a lot of nutjobs who can't find help due to dismal mental health services in this country. If we want to get to the root of the problem, start taking a look at the brain of the one holding a gun and maybe we would have a lot fewer gun problems.
His Highness has a 30 mile no-fly zone around his sacred ass at all times. The FAA tells pilots where it is on any given day when they call in for a preflight briefing if their flight might take them near it.
Even flying RC models is prohibited. Idiotic and paranoid times we live in these days. The true terrorists must be laughing their asses off at these stupid antics.
ALL Presidents have a TFR around any area they are in nationwide while they are the sitting President. Bush had the same restrictions around him when he was in office as did Clinton, GHWB and Reagan. I don't know why you seem to think that it's a new thing just for Obama.
The previous "highness" had the same air restrictions, dumbass.
Yeah, I know. I just said that to get the leftie's panties in a bunch. Worked great! Thanks!
Actually you said it because you are a dumbass and then got called out on it. Now go wad your panties somewhere else. You're the one whining about it.
Yes, certainly you knew...because you're obviously brilliant. And, of course, if you did know and were just trying to upset a group of people...well, that's just kind of being a di*k and is a major reason most liberals, hell, most regular people, would just as soon your type burst into flames and melt into puddles of stupidity and ignorance. You know, your people's base elements.
This may come as a big surprise to you but all of our recent Presidents have had a no fly zone around them. I know you don't like it but he is the President of the United States. Get over it.
Jpoochoo -I;m laughing my ass off over your stupid (Highness) comment. Have a nice tedious hateful day.
Some people are trying to resurect the old "Know Nothing" party; taking a literal interpretation of the name, though.
Yeah, sure you knew. You're a right wing lunatic - the only things you "know" are what you watch on Faux News or what Rush tells you to think.
Mumbulu - It's called willful ignorance - which is different from just "not knowing."
RHR, true.
JP. Our Secret Severs was so embarrassed after the JFK killing, that they vowed they would never loose another President. And they meant it. They are the ones that put into place these safety rules. They tell the President what he can and can't do at all times. So don't let on like the President is some kind of a Coward like Bush and Cheney are. Little Bush and Cheney live in hiding, afraid to leave there homes in fear of being killed by there own people, let alone others outside of the United States. There are 2 cowards for you.
What is it with these creatures that they detest this P.O.T.U.S. of ours that it doesn't matter what he say's or does they are offensive and yet they still do not have the bal## to admit their problem?
Keep up the hate, libbies. I'm crackin' up at your self righteous remarks. Lovin' every one of them.
Chuck,
Yep, ya got that right. They're all sniveling cowards who hide behind their little private armies.
Plus, when one of them finally starts WWIII, they'll all go hide in their little bomb-proof holes like so many rats while everybody else gets blown away.
Pretty disgusting group of people all around.
hey chuck, speaking of cowards, thats also a good description of some clown calling others names on a thread knowing full well you would never say that to their face. and oh yeah, bush lives here in dallas comes and goes as he pleases. no ones tying to kill him. you keep worshiping obama, and when he gets impeached what are ya gonna do tough guy?
The President deserves and needs the "special" attention and protection he is getting. I don't care if Mitt had been President right now, he would have been deserving of this "special" attention.
When a President of ANY country is assassinated, it throws the economy and security of that country into a tailspin. Ask Israel when Yitzak Rabin was assassinated. Ask Egypt, ask...
" throws the economy and security of that country into a tailspin" Yea, I mean it's so functional now; Benghazi, Fast and Furious, North Korea has targeted American cities, sequestration, $16.6 Trillion deficit, why would anyone wish to change this illustrious trajectory!
Wouldn't be any different than it is right now, kiddo!
tedcrawford - You've managed to touch on alll the RIght WIng irritablities in one short post. Add it all up, though, and it styill amounts to Less than Zero. Get a life.
RHR,
Keep posting the way you do and I might think you're a Left Wing liberal (if I can use those cursewords on the vine)
SO what these are the dumbest responses to an article that i have ever read.
Liberal is not a curse word. It is the more progressive side of the body politic, THough, I havfe to admit I am impressed at how thoroughly Right WIngers have been brainwashed so as to consider it a negative descriptor.
Logic. You can call me Liberal all you want. I am proud to wear that label. You so called Conservatives, are no such thing. And a Christian Conservative just is the worlds biggest lie. There is just no such thing. Conservative is just the word you hide behind. I guess its better then KKK.
Chuck,
I wouldn't use a nice word like liberal to describe you. Your above post is pathetic....you assume too much and you know what they say...ASSUME makes an ass out of you and me.
Logic4U... Trying to make Left Wing liberal into a curse? LMFAO. To steal from Monty Python, "We fart in your general direction!!!" But to get on point, the secret service is there to protect the office, the heads of the executive branch of government. All branches of government get a degree of protection as needed and required. That probably includes the Supreme Court, the speaker of the House, the VP and the Senate majority and minority leaders. So as much as you despise our president enjoying the presidential sport of Eisenhower, your fellow right-wing slugs from the House of Reps also enjoy beating a little white ball around a country club. I can't see it, but then again I am a commie pinko liberal and enjoy things like British comedy. Have a nice day :)
Tyler,
Isn't it about time Wilsonarden was suspended for life...unless of course advertising is now permitted?
wje37fcsm,
Please learn to read BEFORE opening mouth...I never said, in any post, we shouldn't protect the president or that I despise him. Like your fellow liberal, Chuck, you make assumptions with absolutely no facts to support them...all you do is make an ass of yourself.
Logic4U.... Then what is your problem with Obama playing a little golf? You're the one trying to vilify lefties and I intend to respond to infantile displays of fascist behavior even though for the most part it is a huge waste of time and I have to crawl in the gutter to get through to youse guys. Think of something intelligent to say and you might get a polite response.
Good news that NORAD is Johnny on the spot at the Yacht Club.
Too bad the sequestration does not whack the expense of guarding this clown. Now that is a fiscal cliff idea whose time has definitely come.
Sounds like you have plans if he's not guarded. Do tell.
Good God please don't, the thought of Biden being President scares the hell out of me!
Fitzs wife even scares hell out of all of us Freedom Minded folks I can just imagine a talk between biden and any other communist would be full of gaffs that the commies would take offensively!
lol Shoot, I'm a Libertarian, but I pray for President Obama's safety every day because of Biden!
Yeah, we need a real vice-President someone who can "Get the congress to come up with some good laws" Sara Palin - on what the Vice Prsident actuallly does.
RHR she would've been even worse! I'm starting to think people who run for President pick horrid running mates for VP for the sole fact that if they win they know they won't be assassinated because of it.
Shows. To bad we don't stop paying that do nothing Congress, and stop paying for there Health Insurance. That's a plan who's time has come.
I'm a bigger lefty than Sandy Koufax and I'm uneasy with Joe Biden calling the shots. I doubt very much whether that state of affairs will come to pass. The REpublicans would have to run Cain\Perry for Biden to win.
Who's Cain?
Could it be that the golf course is at the end of the West Palm Beach Int'l Airport primary runway?
They observed Obama running into the trees every time a plane was overhead...Carney's report..he had a bad slice that day...
Obama believes in keeping our flyboys in tip top training mode!!! I heard they had to guide three Southwest flights, four Delta, two US Airways, one Bahamasair and one American out of Obama's airspace before the WH realized these weren't terror attacks, but were prepared to blame it on airline TV ads anyhow.....
If it was Bush, he would have gotten into his plane and flown around for 7 hours again, hoping they didn't come after him too.
Try your "I heard" humor over on the FOX forum where they will enjoy your retarded jokes much more.
Correction.. official terminology revised: airborne terrorism is now to be identified as misapplied aircraft flight patterns
Give it up. You're not funny.
Damyou.. just a little style gathered while spending time over the past in the woods and lakes around Gaylord!!!
If you don't know it or don't like it, Make it up, Right?
Ronald.. Isn't that an Axelrod quote?
and I think Obama, Hillary and Susan Rice followed it to the point of expertise.........
Why didn't they send up a drone to "escort" the planes away? No one would have known unless they found the wreckage....
Great job NORAD! What happened on 9/11?
Tiger and Willie - Look up Vigilant Guardian, Vigilant Warrior and Northern Vigil. See what you find.
We'll never know. The Bush administration had them destroy the tapes. Go figure.
Despite the annoyances in the air, Obama still finished 18 holes with a score of 15...Carney says "gimmees" were used frequently and not outside of Obama's normal routines.....
more money wasted while the lord dictator is on vacation.....what about the rising gas prices??? do something this term...
Funny, we're pumping more oil out of the ground than ever and gas prices still don't go down, isn't it ?
Where's the 'drill, baby, drill' people now ?
This will give you a clue why gas prices are so high - http://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/LeafHandler.ashx?n=PET&s=MOPUEUS2&f=M
Gas just jumped from $3.55 to $4.05 here. In less than 2 days. No reason, oil is going down in price, we have stockpiles of it. Blame Exxon and others like it. Last Qtr 2012 it made a $9 BILLION profit. PROFIT. They need the tax breaks.
Let's talk vacations..... Apparently you have issues with this President's vacation days. Did you have issues with Geo. W. Bush?
During 2 terms as President, Bush took spent all of part of 477 days at Camp David, on retreats and made 77 trips to his Crawford Ranch, in Texas, where he spent all or part of 490 days, on his Ranch.
The total number of days of vacation or retreat President Bush took, while in office over a period of 8 years was 967 days, or 32% of his total time in office, was spent on vacations or retreats.
That being said, most people realize that the President, while away from the office, usually is doing working at least part of the time. I'm sure this is/was the case for both President Obama and Former President Bush.
Presidents deserve vacations just like we do. Some just take lots more than others.
Mike 679507
I'm sure you would not have said anything about rising gas prices when they went over $4.00 a gallon when Bush was still President! It was also very interesting that before the election of 2012 when gas prices went up that you idiots were blabbering about increasing gas prices and blaming the President.
Isn't it quaint that AFTER the election when gas prices plummeted to levels of about $1.00 less than they are today 2/18/1213 you all said nothing!! Just goes to prove if the President had any control over the regulation of gas prices that he surely would have made himself look good before the election by lowering gas prices leading to the election. It did NOT happen!
This just goes to prove that you lame brain President bashers have NO MERIT in most of your claims against the President on all of the bogus issues you bring up.
As for vacations, the President has the right to time off just like any other person! As far as his protection, he has no say as to the duties of the Secret Service and their policies of how they protect him or any past or future President. It's their job! And it's general knowledge that George Bush 2 spent more time on vacation than any other President!
So it's no wonder that most here don't bother to respond to the posts of you blabbering idiots that never have anything of importance to say. I'm sure your one of the birthers as well! GET A LIFE!!
On the price of oil products,I can't understand why the Rep/T.P. are not attacking the oil industries continuing tax bonuses,or is it that they are so one sided in their views that any give-aways to these high profit scroungers is very acceptable, but needed help to worthy citizens is called give away. Where the hell are you illegi##### coming from?
Why is the price of gas so high?

It took NORAD to locate a few "air ball" shots of POTUS as well.... busy day for those guys..
If Obama needs to get a way from Washington, his family, the spectacle of a POTUS vacation, the pressures of the job (?), and the press/ media for a vacation.... why don't we send him to St. Helena???
Quiet, peaceful, undisturbed.....worked for Napoleon...he thought he was royalty as well..
The only real problem with keeping BHO there, is a (shutter) POTUS Biden.
Must be on of those "drones" that the government uses to hunt down and shoot American citizens at the president's whim.
You may be on to something.. guessing these secret authorities Obama has to use drones includes a "green energy" component which allows him to use drones to destroy offshore oil rigs, fracking rigs, homes with high energy usage, cars with emission problems.. Michelle threw in a "stun" component for overweight people...
" homes with high energy usage" Al Gore might even be home at the time!
I love when you teabaggers post your little fantasies for all the world to see.
Hank, if we didn't post them, the WH would leak them...
If hes as important as some of you say then he needs to get his ass back where he belongs and take care of some important things and stop playing with his putter
common sense
So if the president returns to DC, where is the Congress? Oh, that's right, it is on vacation all this week.
Good call. I guess we do not need Congress to take care of some important things.
Obama thanks the taxpayers again for letting his girls ski in Colorado while he is golfing in Florida. WOW the economy must be doing great to afford a goof off in the White House
Obviously, Obama and his family don't have a "spending problem" either...
This worthless, poor excuse for a leader, spends tax payer's money like there is a bottomless pit! I cannot believe that he isn't aware of what the general public thinks of him and it would appear he does what he does just to show the USA he CAN! Too bad they saw the planes - maybe, just maybe, they could have , or at least one of them, solved the problem. One can only hope!
"what the people think of him"? : "President Obama is riding a wave of personal popularity into his second term, with his highest favorability ratings since his first year in office, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll. Fully 60 percent of Americans have a favorable impression of Obama in the new poll"
A lot of "the problem" are unintelligent haters like you, who wish death on the president. A plane isn't going to solve that problem, unfortunately.
The people who criticize everything Presidant Obama does obviously are under the age of six. They obviously don't remember any other president. I can remember the Kennedy Administration and I've lived in the Washington, D.C. area since 1970, and President Obama is not doing anything out of the ordinary or anything excessive in his use of public resources in comparison to other presidents of either party. This line of attack is pure Tea Party idiocy ungrounded in fact. The people who believe it and repeat it are either ignorant chumps or paid propagandists.
One, accidental misfire, just one...Oh well maybe I can win the lottery!
GEEZ! I have a lot of problems with Obama, but protecting him is not one of them. This is ridiculous on some of these post here,
Thanks, "broker1" ... finally, some sanity; and, from someone who is not, necessarily, a fan of this particular president. It is about the "Office of the Presidency", people. It has nothing to do with the name of the man (or woman) who wears "the suit", or; what we, as individuals, might think of him or her. Think about how many multi-millions we spend, each year, in support of the "The Presidency". And how much the untimely loss of a sitting president would/will cost us all, in terms of, not just economic impact, but "political capital" (leverage, reputation, credibility, influence, etc.) around the world. I've been reading Newsvine, rather faithfully, since this President took office, originally; and, frankly, I have been appalled at much of what I've read, from the "conservative" side of the isle. As a "lay" student of history, I've been interested in "the presidency" for much of my life. And, based upon the thousands upon thousands of pages I've read on the subject, over the past 50 + years, I venture to suggest, here, that there hasn't been this much overt hatred of a sitting president. since Lincoln's first term. And what's most interesting to me about this comparison, anecdotal though it may be, is the underlying (but nonetheless apparent) thread common to both of these presidencies; to wit, the issue of race; then (with Lincoln) black v white, now (with Obama) white v any "race" other than white. If anything, we're moving "Back to The Future" on this issue. But, "fear not"; inexorably (because "nature abhors a vacuum") the "demographic imperatives", though they will almost certainly create a myriad new problems, will most certainly solve this one, the one we've been grappling with, since Jamestown. Haters, mark these words, a "game change" is coming", and whether it is to be feared or fostered, fraught with hate, division and death, or held up by Americans of "good will" as a shining light for the world to see, to respect, and to learn from, will be up to those of us who choose to embrace the promise implied in our creed: "One nation, with liberty and justice, FOR ALL!
Nothing like F14 protection to play a little golf with Tiger. It is not the protection that has people upset it is the amount of golf this man plays when he is not getting things done in Washington. Sure he deserves this vacation. But I can see how people make remarks since he does so much hob nobbling with celebrities on our dime.
If Obama pushes the economy further into the pit and he keeps cutting military funding, his next vacation air coverage will be a hot air balloon and blunderbus in the hands of his WH gardener
Nah! Iran will still have jets and even Nukes by then!
Ted- you know that is just bad intelligence that is still lingering from Bush don't you?
Congress is responsible for spending and taxes, and generally all the economic bills including military funding, so if you have problems with that, you know who to blame. That includes the GOP-controlled house.
The entire gov't is dysfunctional.
The Republicans grew the government during the Bush years. They created the Department of Homeland Security out of nothing and installed the Zionist, Michael Chertoff to run it. He was responsible for allowing the 5 Dancing Israelis to flee back to Israel, after being held for 72 days by the FBI.
On the day before 9/11, Donald Rumsfeld was on television saying the Pentagon had lost 2.3 trillion dollars. The next day, the Pentagon was hit, destroying any evidence. Wow, what an amazing coincidence. Rumsfeld is on Utube gang, look it up.
After that, we somehow lost track of billions in Iraq. Hey, mistakes happen. Look who was in charge of all the operations. Here is a list. They all happen to be Israel/American citizens, with close ties to the Likud government of Israel. I wonder where the money went.

Democrat Quotes on Iraq Weapons of Mass Destruction
"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."
--President Bill Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998
"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
--President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998
"Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face."
--Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998
"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983."
--Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998
"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs."
Letter to President Clinton, signed by:
-- Democratic Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others, Oct. 9, 1998
"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
-Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998
"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
-- Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999
"There is no doubt that ... Saddam Hussein has reinvigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue at a pace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies."
Letter to President Bush, Signed by:
-- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), and others, Dec 5, 2001
"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and th! e means of delivering them."
-- Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002
"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."
-- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002
"Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power."
-- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002
"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."
-- Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002
"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..."
-- Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002
"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force -- if necessary -- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
-- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002
"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction."
-- Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002
"He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do"
-- Rep. Henry Waxman (D, CA), Oct. 10, 2002
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
-- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002
"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction."
-- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002
"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..."
-- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003
Hey VicVega - Where do you think those Democrats got the idea that Saddam had or was seeking WMD? Do you think they all got together and made up the whole thing? Its more likely, they were fed that nonsense in briefings from members of their AIPAC staffs. Shlomo Brom, a retired Israeli general, admitted the Mossad was feeding some of that false intelligence to America.
Right wing "think tanks" such as Progress For A New American Century (PNAC) were pushing the idea of WMD in 1998 in a letter to Clinton, called the PNAC Letter. Look it up. It was signed by many members of what would become Bush's cabinet and the Bush Pentagon.
The Zionist media was also printing carefully worded stories hinting that Iraq had WMD. Someone or some party went so far as to forge the Niger documents in order to make it appear Iraq had a nuclear weapons program. That fact makes it a certainty that forces were feeding misleading intelligence to our politicians and the public. They would say things like "they almost certainly have this chemical" or they probably have that chemical weapon" and then go on to point out what terrible things those weapons could accomplish, in an effort to scare the American people. It was all carefully worded propaganda from the neocons.
As you will see tonight, if you bother to watch Hubris, our intelligence agencies were not agreeing with all those WMD claims.
It is the same thing today, with regard to Iran. Politicians, such as Lindsey Graham and John McCain are making claims about Iran's nuclear program, which do not coincide with that of our intelligence agencies, who have concluded that Iran does not have a nuclear weapons program. Both of those Congressmen are firmly in the pocket of Israel and AIPAC.
The Iraq war all belongs to Bush and Cheney. They made all the TV presentations with ominous warnings of all the bad things Saddam was doing. All turned out to be lies. Our intelligence aganecies knew and said nothing to the media, but they had to be telling the president.
Never mind the fact that Obama ask for, and received a record defense budget in 2011. Then in 2012, asked for just 41 billion less since we are winding down military operations in Iraq.
My information is verifiable. How about yours?
NYMike
Of course their information is verifiable. Just ask the guy sitting next to them at the local watering hole.
So now it takes two 747s for the First Family to go on vacation - one for him and another one for her and the kids.
Biden and Jill get the Cessna..
So you know that Michelle and the girls used a 747?
It was their Christmas gift from daddy ( and the American people)...
You're right, golfsleft; Obama has a 747-200 while Michelle has to get by with a 757-200B.
I had the same thought, Know your subject. They also require their own security, transportation, accomodations for the security and themselves, etc. I hope, and doubt, that they paid out of their own pockets for even one of these vacations.
Wow, this guy and his family take a vacation every month! When was the last time that YOUR family took a vacation? It's good to be KING......
Remember, vacations are only bad if the President is Democrat. The Republican Presidents can take all the vacations they want. That's because the Republican Presidents only need to sign the legislation that Republicans put before them and not think. If a crisis occurs, then the Republican President gets into a plane and flies away.
We've had one vacation since Obama became President, and it wasn't really a vacation because we were there on a TDY. It's not that it's bad IMHO, it just seems like he is gone a lot. They say that about Bush too, so maybe it's a GOOD thing, if they're not at the white house they can't screw anything else up.
Hmm IMHO... I think you must mean Whigs and Tories....
talk to EMPEROR bush then if you think taking vacations is a sign of royalty. Besides which, even on "vacations" presidents are often working, and they also work nights and weekends when at the white house.
Unlike YOUR family (and most families) who can actually truly vacation during vacations.
anyone who suggests that the job of president is some kind of cushy, stress-free, low-hour, high-vacation deal is an idiot.
No matter what you think of the current president, whining about vacations is stupid.
well barn, we can take vacations when we want, or go to our second home at the lake, and I am not a king. I Worked for it and went to college while working full time. The president appears to have been an ambitious person also. If you do not like your lot in life, have you attempted to change it?
I rest my case.
Barney, you should run for president. It's clearly an easy job, pays lots of money, has lots of downtime, and everybody will love you. I say go for it!
Hummmm, too bad. With any luck at all we would be...........(fill in the rest of the sentence).
...able to read intelligent posts here? :)
vermontguy... posts are simply a reflection of the WH politics.. if you feel they lack substance and intelligence, I have forwarded your comment to whitehouse.gov along with others this morning.
feel free to do anything you like. lol.
and you don't need to "feel" anything to note the lack of substance and intelligence on many of the posts here. :)
SNDVL: Seriously? The Government (thanks to Geo. W. Bush) listens in on every phone call in the world. WORLD. You think that they aren't checking posts here and getting information as we type? Nothing you say on these pages goes without notice. Nothing.
Posts regarding (implied) threats to the President of the USA is nothing to snicker about and speaks volumes of the person posting. I don't believe that the President of the USA has ever threatened your life or the lives of the posters on this page. So, no, it's not a reflection of the WH politics.
Please, Myownwoman. Paranoia is the domain odf RIght WIng gun zealots.
Wher are all the RIght WIng nutcases who have bneen tasked with complaining about the President taking a vacation? Get to work you lazy hard working COnservatives.
I have changed my opinion.I am glad he leaves.
Hey Numbskull, Both Ronnie and GW spent their vacations at their ranches, clearing brush, WITH THEIR FAMALIES. Not hitting the links in Florida with the likes of Tiger Woods.
Try blowing the liberal fog out your knoggin
Man, 400+ days of brush-clearing ... how much freaking brush grows in Texas?
Get on your meds in the VA Vet, Bush spent 879 days at Crawford, all working.
