Rob Morrison of WCBS-TV in New York faces charges of second-degree strangulation, second-degree threatening and disorderly conduct in an incident Sunday, Feb. 17, at his home in Darien, Conn.

Rob Morrison, an anchor for WCBS-TV in New York, was charged with attempting to strangle his wife after a weekend incident at their home in Connecticut, the station confirmed Monday.

Morrison, 44, of Darien, Conn., faces charges of second-degree strangulation, second-degree threatening and disorderly conduct in the incident early Sunday, the station reported. He is accused of attempting to choke his wife, Ashley Morrison, a reporter for CBS MoneyWatch. Ashley Morrison didn't need medical treatment, but she had red marks on her neck, police said.

Rob Morrison was free Monday on $100,000 bond and is due in court Tuesday, NBC Connecticut reported. WCBS said it would have no comment beyond its news report.

NBC Connecticut: TV anchor accused of choking wife

In a statement, the Morrisons said they were "cooperating fully with the authorities to insure that all of the information necessary to properly evaluate this unfortunate incident is made available. The Morrisons are confident that a full review of this matter will show that the allegations have been greatly exaggerated."

Before joining WCBS in 2009, Morrison was an anchor and reporter for NBC 4 of New York and had appeared on NBC News' "Weekend Today" and msnbc TV.

Really! She has red marks all over her neck and he has several cuts on his nose and mouth, but everything has been greatly exaggerated .

I was an abuse victim in Connecticut. The Police, Attorneys , etc work very hard at sweeping these types of incidents under the rug. They well you that you will be ripped apart in court if you press charges and that both of your careers will be ruined at once.

Do you know how many high profile people have been involved in domestic violence situations and it had all.been sweepe under the rug.

"We can't have this type of press about us now , can we now" That is or typical stock response .

Diane, I watched my mother be abused by my drunken bum of a father who started abusing me. Mom finally left him when he hurt me really bad. I was four years old. We moved in with my grandparents and then my grandmother abused me from age four until she died when I was 15. Then I married an abuser. It's a cycle. At the time I left my ex, I had domestic violence counseling and the pattern of my relationships was pointed out to me. Wish I had known these things earlier and could have avoided them by making better choices. Just watched a show about this pattern last week and I wish there were more shows like that.

damn...what a shame. He is a really good anchor....and when he was released by NBC a few years back (to make way for a cheaper on air lineup), he went off and was a stay at home dad for a couple years writing a pretty good blog. Then CBS picked him up.

Has to be a very difficult time for him and his wife. I hope, as they said, this is being blown way out of proportion.

rob, I can see it all now, He only choked her a little. Besides, she was smacking him as he barely choked her. Thank god this didn't happen in a southern red state, we'd never hear the end of it.

Because my kids didn't witness physical abuse by their father, they don't believe it happened. It did. My ex was extremely careful to make sure there were no witnesses to anything bad he did. As a result, my daughter doesn't bother with me at all. I paid a high price for what that skunk did to me, but at least I'm out now.

Nothing more difficult on this planet then being married for a long period of time, it seems
people loose respect for each other over time. I think once a marriage gets to this point it’s time for a divorce.

Sometimes the stories get mixed up. The women escalate the violence and are actually the aggressor and the person who initiate the first strike. I witnessed an aggressive female throw a hot cup of coffee in her partners face. His gut reaction was to slug her in the face. Yep, he got arrested after being treated by the paramedics, she walked. She started the physical aggression, he paid for it in jail. Sexist cop. Even after I told the cop she started it, and she was the one who needed to be arrested, he hesitated, sort of changed his mind, checked with his superior, and said the guy had to go. Did you know the DA's get PAID by the federal government, to prosecute these cases. Only if they win. So they threaten the guys with years in jail unless they plea. This guy got screwed.

He should have learned from watching NFL football. The guy who throws the second punch gets penalized.

Pretty good business to be in. I heard once that 95 % of 911 calls are for domestic calls. Not sure if the percentage is right, seems high to me but it is what feeds the justice system: cops / judges / lawyers / probation officers / DV class providers etc...

People shouldn't get married anymore. If you fall in love guys my advice considering you will lose anyhow is to give her a vial of sperm, the keys to your house and a power of attorney over your assets and checking accounts, and move in a van down by the river....... ah, ah.

With the severe lack of information here, I cannot believe how many of you, on here, can be so stupid to even make an opinion let alone believe this man is guilty! If she has the ability to hurt him then he deserves the right to strike back for self defense. The only way we can get violence under control is by holding both sexes accountable for their actions in the court.
