A series of shootings in Orange County ended with the gunman taking his own life. NBC's Brian Williams reports.
A 20-year-old college student went on a shooting rampage across Orange County, Calif., on Tuesday, killing three people and injuring several others before killing himself, authorities said.
Police said the man, identified as Ali Syed, 20, of Ladera Ranch, Calif., told one of his victims, whose car he stole: "I killed somebody. This is my last day."
In all, there were three homicide victims and at least five victims of attempted homicide, police said.
Syed, a student at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo with no criminal record, shot and killed a young woman in his home in Ladera Ranch, which he shared with his parents, said Scott Jordan, police chief of the town of Tustin, where several of the incidents occurred Tuesday.
The relationship between Syed and the young woman remained unclear, as was the reason she was in the home, police said.
Syed's parents were home at the time, about 4:45 a.m. (7:45 a.m. ET), and fled, Jordan said. Syed then took their black sport-utility vehicle and set out on a drive along Orange County's highways, stopping at times to change cars and shoot people — apparently at random, according to police.
As state troopers homed in on him, he then killed himself.
Police and sheriff's officials gave this account of the dramatic chase:
Syed's first stop was the parking lot of a restaurant in Tustin, another Los Angeles suburb about 20 miles away, where he was spotted loading his shotgun by a man who was waiting in his car for his son.
The man quickly drove off with Syed chasing him on foot and firing his shotgun. The man was shot in the back of head but survived and managed to drive a short way before coming to a stop. Syed shot and wounded a second person who had rushed up to see what was happening.
Syed's car was damaged and had a flat tire, so he ran across the street to a gasoline station, where he approached a man filling up his tank. He took the man's truck after politely telling him: "I don't want to hurt you. I killed somebody. This is my last day. Give me your keys."
Investigators update the deadly carjackings in Southern California.
Now in his second stolen vehicle, Syed took off down state Route 55. He exited in Santa Ana, where he began randomly firing at vehicles on the freeway.
Three vehicles were damaged in Santa Ana, the driver of one of which suffered minor injuries to his face and hand. That man drove home and called police, who began tracking Syed in earnest. The drivers of all three damaged vehicles were being considered victims of attempted homicide.
Back in the stolen truck, Syed again tore off down Route 55. He took an off-ramp too fast, causing him to jump the curb, whereupon he leapt out of the truck, approached a man who was stopped at a stop sign, "walked him across the road and executed him, shooting him three times," Jordan said.
That victim was identified as Melvin Lee Edwards, 69, of Laguna Hills.
Syed then took the man's BMW — his third stolen vehicle — and drove off to the parking lot of a computer store, where he shot two people, apparently strangers, killing one of them. The dead man was identified as Jeremy Lewis, 26, of Fullerton.
Syed drove off in yet another stolen vehicle, returning to Route 55 as emergency calls poured in to authorities. As state troopers were preparing to get into position, he exited the freeway in the city of Orange. With the stolen vehicle still moving, he jumped out, put the shotgun to his head and killed himself.
Authorities said they found the shotgun beside Syed's body. And as of late Tuesday afternoon, they said, they had no explanation for why any of it happened.

do we blame the car,the gun or the criminal?
There's room to blame the gun and the shooter.....you can't remove the gun from "gun violence".
Yes, they had film and the gun jumped out of the car all by itself and starting firing, and then fled the scene and reloaded itself. The gun then drove the car to the next shooting scene and started it all over again.I guess the gun was crazy but the man was sane...according to you. And Im sure ...according to you....that this guy would have followed all the pertinent laws and had a small magazine ...OH...btw I wonder if it was an assault rifle.........................sure
Cars aren't manufactured for killing. That's why they're called "accidents".
I don't know the whole story, of course, but maybe, just maybe if one of the victims had been armed he would have been stopped sooner.
More cars are killing far more people than guns each year. Why aren't the liberals demanding a ban on cars?
@ HRDawg-
"Cars aren't manufactured for killing." - Neither are kitchen knives........
@freedom1st: The typical liberal (I am not one of those) argument is that cars are a tool with a useful purpose. Guns, according to them, are not tools that have useful purposes.
I say we just pass a law that makes it illegal for people involved in any crime to kill themselves. Because as we all know, criminals obey the law.
Guns aren't manufactured for killing. They are manufactured to save your life.
How's those gun laws working there in CaLIBafornia? Banning law abiding citizens from being armed just cost three more lives. How many more will it take before you see that bans DON"T mean crap to criminals and they will still get guns and use them illegally. You only hurt the law abiding citizens and take away their right and ability to protect themselves.
HRdawg - Which is why we should accept 30,000+ people being killed each year by negligent drivers, but instead ban assault weapons responsible for about 300+ a year??? Focusing very little on reforming gun laws and mental health checks. BTW why do they call it gun violence, and separate all other violence? It's a phrase coined to drive public opinion about the current state of things. It doesn't refer to bad people doing bad things, but turns focus to guns as being the bad part of the equation. Look at it this way, if a gun was sitting all by itself no one would get killed. If you take a gun away from a person like this, they in turn won't start being nice. They will find the next thing they can use to implement pain and suffering. This isn't some paradox.
Without guns youd be speaking German right now.
@Kevin D-289686 ,you can't remove the "car" from "CARJACKING" !
And they are right - there is no purposeful use for firearms except to shoot innocent animals from 100 yards.
The idea you need them for protection is pretty much a myth of the NRA, very few guns are used to stop criminals except by the police. If guns were under tight control of a state militia, this person would not have had one, and 5 more people would still be alive right now.
Fact is most gun shootings are "men" killing girlfriends or spouses, or family members, children getting a hold of unlocked guns, and accidental shootings by idiots.
Or Japanese
Half Cherokee All American its not that citizens are banned from owning guns here in Kali. You can own a gun you just can't get a permit to carry it, so you can protect yourself.
One of the real problems in Kali besides the moronic regulations on pistols and so called assault weapons, is the lack of CCW's. If one of those victims had had a CCW this guy might have been stopped sooner.
@HRDawg they are called "TRAFFIC COLLISIONS " or "TRAFFIC INCIDENTS" very rarely are they classified as traffic accidents ,because usually someone is at FAULT,thats why you have "no fault insurance" they should reclassify some as "traffic purposes" or traffic intentuals" as some are done on purpose!
wait this couldn't have happened, because Cal. has very strict gun laws, oh I forgot criminals don't adhere to gun laws, just helpless victims do ! And for your info, not even all gun control advocates adhere to what their trying to shove down the general public's throat .WAKE UP AMERICA YOUR BEING SOLD A PACK OF LIES !!
Californa again? They have very strict firearm and immigration laws there. I guess law abiding Californians need to break the law to defend themselves.
If just one of these people had a gun this could have been stopped.
@LeftLeaningLisa ,my gun is a tool , i like breaking up my glass bottles with it as well as punching holes in metal ,becides it works very well on"TAKING OUT THE TRASH"
"GUN violence" is a term created by the anti-gun media. If someone kills someone with a car, do they refer to it as "CAR violence"; or if a killing is by knife, do they talk about "KNIFE violence"; or "BASEBALL BAT violence"? The argument that since guns are created to destroy and motor vehicles are created for a useful purpose, thus guns are bad and cars are not, is inherently flawed, since it assumes that ALL killing is bad WITH A GUN and killing done WITH A CAR is not. The concept that people have a right to kill to stop a murderer is firmly established in Law and is only rejected by a handful of fools and cowards who would stand by and do nothing while their family is butchered by a maniac. Further, the idea that motor vehicles are inherently benign, has little relevance to those who have been maimed or killed by them at the hands of a drunk, crazy or murderous driver. Nuff said?
KrjMc - Needing them for protection is exactly why I own mine! Someone tries to break into my home they will be met with a volley of bullets and shells and anything else I can get my hands on to make sure that they can't hurt myself or my family. Mind you it will only take the rounds in one of my guns (as I do know how to use them), but I will make sure that they are dead, don't cost the state any more to give them a trial or support them in jail and that they don't have an opportunity to hurt others. I don't know where you get your statitics but I bet it is from the liberal websites which just make up numbers to suit themselves!
Here you have a man who decides that he can take whatever he wants and if someone gets in his way you just kill him/her.
Here was a man with no morals. So the answer to your question is: blame the criminal.
Because if this man had self-respect and respect for others he would not have done this.
I'd like to know the records of the three carjackers. I'm willing to bet that all of them have had run-ins in the past. The real issue is the fall of morals in America. Our youth grows up thinking that a violent lifestyle is the norm and is to be expected of them. Every form of entertainment centers around it.
I worry that we are too far gone as a country. Even if we started today it will take several generations to change this. How do we convince the movie makers, news media and singers to stop putting out this dispicable cr_p? My kids are exposed to at least 50 murders a day and it's all in the name of entertainment!
"BAN Takenada" before he goes shooting off his mouth about banning guns :P
KrjMc I'm glad you live in a perfect world without crime. I'll choose to stay in reality where my gun IS my protection. Not the police. Police carry guns to protect themselves, not you.
That's a fact huh? Where is your proof? Please tell me it's not the media. You do know that is the only thing that they post as far as guns. They rarely post anything about guns saving lives because in their world, it doesn't happen.
DON'T BRING A KNIFE TO A GUNFIGHT. CHANCES ARE, THE CRIMINAL HAS A GUN. DO YOU?
Guns and criminals will always by synonymous no matter how many laws are on the books.
As a woman living along, I disagree. Not repeating my story again, the anti-gun idiots never comment on it.
I'll bet the woman who shot the intruder climbing into her daughter's window would disagree; or the woman who shot the felon chasing her and her children through her house; or the two elderly widows in my one hundred mile vicinity who shot the intruders who broke in; or the Democratic Senator several months ago who shot the intruder who broke into his rural home; or my son-in-law who shot the rabid fox after his chickens.
Lots of circumstances when the gun was a useful tool, saving lives and domestic livestock. Many times no life is injured, just the sight of the gun was enough to make the criminal run away. Don't necessarily think that's a good thing, as the jerk will just go after someone else.
Raised in SO CA, right where this all happened, moved to CO twenty years ago. Same old place, same old stuff, car jackings and shootings! At least in CO I can protect myself because loaded in the car is AOK here!
In CA you can't have the bullets in the car with your weapon, they have to be locked in the trunk or in the glove box. Makes you weapon no better than a rock with a handle. Only the bad guys get to carry loaded there.
Welcome to the Obamanation, Just like CA!
@KrjMc, guess you missed these headlines on the front page of NBCNews.com where a person defended him/herself against the bad guys, but here's a few found within a few minutes' search:
Homeowner shoots, kills intruder climbing through window (Today's front page)
911 to teen mom who killed intruder: 'Protect your baby' Jan. 4, 2012
911 tape: 'Shoot him again!' husband tells wife hiding from home intruder Jan. 10, 2013
It's no myth that bad guys have got guns, and good guys obey the law, even if the law says thou shalt not have guns. Pretty uneven odds for a good guy to defend him/herself, wouldn't you say?
I agree that idiots should not own guns, including those irresponsible people who leave guns for children to find, play with or bring to school. What I do disagree with is your statement that most gun shootings are comprised of men are killing girlfriends/spouses/family members, accidential shootings or children playing with guns. Cite your statistics, please.
ItsNotTheGuns,There weren't three carjackers, there was one.One carjacker killed three people, injured one and then killed himself. He must have been flying high on drugs and was no doubt a felon in possession of a gun. We'll find out probably on the evening news.
If only if we had banned guns. This would never had happened. GUNS make bad people. If this guy had not had a gun, he never would have killed anybody. He would have gone to work instead and said hello to people on the street. He probably would have volunteered at the local homeless shelter JUST to give back to society.... Evil guns....
Hey Mark, I already put Takenada on ignore list quite a while back. Don't forget to block wilsonarden1132 too. That one shows up on every comment list there is with the spam ads.
Not sure where everyone gets their info, but that area of CA is HEAVILY Republican. In fact, the city it started in is about 90% Republican.
On top of that, every person I know in CA owns a gun. My best friend lives in that area, has a concealed carry permit, carries the gun with him everywhere he goes... and laughs at people who say it was difficult to get. Trust me, people in this area own guns. I know them personally.
Why were they not armed at the time? Probably because you are dealing with EXTREMELY rich people who live in a area deemed by the FBI as one of the safest cities in the US over the last 10 years. Ladera Ranch is the upscale, richy rich area of Irvine. A 4-bedroom house on less than 2,000 square feet STARTS at a million... and that is considered cheap. These are the type of people who would not carry a gun because is clashes with their $15k purse, or their $200k Rolex. These are not the red-neck, tobacco spitting, NASCAR jacket wearing, gun-toting Republicans... these are the Republicans who buy their children an $80k Range Rover for their 16th birthday, and keep their guns hidden in a safe because having them displayed is a sign of lower class.
You can remove every gun law and it won't make a difference, crime will still happen. You can let everyone carry a gun everywhere they go, and it won't make a difference... the element of surprise is still on the criminals side. More laws, less laws... won't change anything.
I've been thinking that perhaps we need to start looking at our police and court systems.......WHY are there so many violent, repeat offenders on the streets? Who is getting a 'bribe or 'payoff' for looking the other way? WHY are gangs so numerous and WHY are they allowed to thrive and prosper? WE THE PEOPLE need to start organizing Community Watch in our neighborhoods. WE THE PEOPLE need to start calling the police and reporting gang activity and criminals-and keep calling- we also need to 'film' the police response (smile-your on candid camera).......... I am extremely frustrated with "repeat offenders"-lock these criminals up and throw away the key!!! And no white collar country club prisons either- some of these sub humans are beyond rehabilitation and must never, ever be allowed to prey on society again.........
California, Here I Come (yeaaaaaah!)

It must be that gun's evil mind that made that mindless guy kill those people!!??!! We must therefore get rid of it and all of it's relatives so the guns don't FORCE those mindless humans to pull their triggers!!! Wow...I actually thought that human beings had the ability to reason & think for themselves rather then allow congress to do the thinking for them....glad I woke up and learned that the guns have the real brains and we humans are the "puppets" that follow them!!!
Really? To listen to most of you folks, more guns are the answer. Statistically, you are more likely to be killed by your own gun than by someone elses. That in itself, says it all. There are 3 types of people who will "defend the gun," apparently to the death. They are: 2nd Amendment types (who have been brainwashed by their NRA masters, who, in turn, have been bought by their gun manufacturer masters), the crime and violence is everywhere delusional/paranoid types, and the men who buy BIG guns to compensate for their little pistol. Which type are you?
Funny that everytime someone is shot in the past two months MSN has to have it front page. We get it you want all guns taken away and you think that will solve the problem with gangs and nut jobs killing people. More idiotic thinking from the limp wristed left.
Not sure where every one of the gun nuts on this thread got the idea anyone was banning their guns. Delusional much?
I hear that GITMO has a cell open. Has Wayne LaPierre been arrested yet? Gosh, I hope so.
KrjMc-3082425,
Actually, you are exactly wrong. Clinton's administration found guns are used in self defense 1.5 million times a year. This is way more than any violent crime statistics. Please dont be ignorant when you try to infringe on peoples' constitutional rights.
Burnsy,
People with guns infringe upon my right to life.
McReal, here you have one of the strictest states on gun control. Did those laws you idolize save anyone? Did they stop a single death? ABSOLUTELY not.
Try this in KY where we have MANY CCW permit holders. The would-be hijacker would have been stopped by the armed citizen.
This is EXACTLY why you here of these crims in strict gun law areas and "gun-free" zones. Because the criminals know that they are less likely to meet an armed resistance. WHY IS THAT? Because most of the pro-gun people are and always have been "law abiding." Passing MORE LAWS does not stop a criminal who is already set out to break the law.
It is SO simple to see. All you have been brainwashed to believe guns are bad. No, an unarmed citizenry is bad. People who are not allowed to defend themselves is a bad thing.
Lets ban cars. If none of these people had cars, then they would have never been "car" jacked. See how stupid that sounds? Guns are no more the problem that are the cars that were being "jacked." PEOPLE are the problem. If criminals had a 50% chance of meeting an armed resistance, you would be AMAZED at how much crime would decreased. One basic animal instinct is survival. No human will put themselves in harms way, not even a criminal, if they stand a good likelihood of dying. Even the stupid people of the planet can do that kind of basic math.
Who exactly infringed your right to life? I thought this was about a car jacker who killed people & himself
MSNBCMFE... This is one of the many reasons we have the right to KEEP and BARE arms. What if you were one of the carjacked? What would you say? OH ya....you can't get a comment from a corpse!
MrBurns
Please don't be ignorant when defending a "right" that is only being infringed upon by the minds of conspiracy theory nut jobs.
No one is banning all guns... NO ONE.
As a responsible gun owner, you make the rest of us look bad with your constant conspiracy theory laden, lunatic ramblings.
There will NOT be a ban on ALL guns. There will NOT be a confiscation effort. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN.
McReal - where did you find the statistic that a gun owner is more likely to be killed with their own gun? I'm thinking that is just another fabrication.
McReal
I agree whole heartily with you. I would be my own victim, if I owned a gun. Why? Because I am afraid of guns. No matter how much training I received, that gun and I would have an adversary relationship.
I am phobic about weapons and that makes it all the more dangerous for me to own one. Not everyone should be armed. Plus the thought of accidentally shooting someone, would be overwhelming for me.
A person who owns a handgun is taking on the responsibility for the weapon. No matter what happens, the gun's owner is responsible. I can see confident, well-trained people carrying a gun but that does not mean they need an assault rifle. After reading the stories of the shootings at Newtown, I am heart sick that anyone could do such a thing to another human being. Especially, little ones.
So if any person who wants to have a hand gun, so be it. But as for assult weapons he!! no!
Coulda, woulda, shoulda, is meaningless, if you are armed but dangerous to yourself and your loved ones. I will have to wait until the police get here. If I am killed, then so be it. I would rather die than to kill someone who might be in the wrong place, at the wrong time and some old lady with a gun, shoots first and asks questions later.
Thanks but no thanks!
P.S. I was an operating room nurse, I have seen first hand, what bullets can do, to the human body. The child died and his grand father cried. It was Papa's gun and his grandson thought it was a toy. The site is still ingrained in my memory and Papa's crying still resonates in my ears. Along with the child's entire family.
Why do people think that police are the ONLY ones that stop crime with their firearm? The FACT is that VERY FEW crimes are stopped by police at all. Police are INVESTIGATORS.
So, WHY is it that people think that? It is because the MSM REFUSES to report the stories about those that have save themselves, their families and friends with their firearms. Here is some information for you to consider:
Link to the map is at the bottom of the page.
New Interactive Map Shows the Number of Times Guns Have Saved Americans
Feb. 15, 2013 3:45pm Becket Adams
However, what these people often neglect to mention is the number of people who have been saved by firearms. That is, gun control advocates rarely — if ever — acknowledge the possible benefits of owning a gun.
But is there an upside to owning a gun, as defenders of the Second Amendment claim? Of course there is. Indeed, it shouldn't come as a surprise when we say numerous would-be murderers, burglars, and rapists have been thwarted by guns.
But let's try to visualize this.
In the spirit of the Journal News, the New York newspaper that published a map featuring the names and addresses of legal gun owners in three counties, the Cato Institute has put together a map documenting the instances where a gun has helped innocent Americans protect themselves from criminals.
"Gun control proponents cannot deny that people use guns successfully against criminals, but they tend to play down how often such events take place," Cato notes. "The purpose of this map is to draw more attention to this aspect of the firearms policy debate."
Screen grab.
Now two points need to be made about this map:
Final Thought: As the above map clearly illustrates, firearms have been used to save lives. Washington should keep this in mind when it considers passing legislation that would make it more difficult for Americans to have access to guns.
After all, if it can save just one life …
www.nationalreview.com/corner/337324/if-it-saves-one-life-charles-c-w-cooke
Anti gun folks REALLY like to push that one.... save one life. What they DON'T tell you is that guns can save a life as well, and maybe even MORE lives....

Burnsy,
People with guns infringe upon my right to life."
Dumbest post so far.
I'd infringe on your life if you tried to infringe on mine. Otherwise I don't even want to meet you. So carry on.
NVArt
It is a statistic based on the number of murders with a gun, ruled as self defense... thus indicating that the person used a gun to kill another in self defense. Then compare that to the number of gun deaths ruled as an accident.
It is not a fabrication, it is math. However, it should read that statistically, an owner is more likely to accidentally kill himself or another than to kill an intruder. It does not take into consideration the number of intruders that were not killed, but stopped or scared off with a gun. So it is slightly misleading, but not fabricated. There are a lot of stupid people who accidentally shoot themselves or family members. Good or bad, there are more stupid people than criminals... but Darwinism has a way of weeding them out.
Yup, he shut up as soon as I asked him a question? Oh, and he'll just move on to another thread and say something just as stupid
kynetguy:
Did you read my post? Can you read? Nowhere in my post did I mention gun laws and your rant seems focused on them. Why did you make the assumption that I am for more gun control laws? Is it because everything in your miopic world is either black or white? Either you are for shiney guns or you are against all that is good. The logic in your rant is so flawed. You state as fact, "if criminals had a 50% chance of meeting an armed restistance, you would be AMAZED at how much crime would decreased." Do you have statistics or facts to back up this claim. No you don't, do you? Because you just made it up. Go back to my original post and figure out which of the 3 types you are. I already know.
Bluesman..no your was the Dumbest post so far..(just alone with saying that) lol We folks who are not wimps and don't need a gun to feel safe like apparently you do (fun being childish sometimes i guess) feel that our right to life is infrindged upon because your buddies with mega stockpiles of weapons like to shoot at malls, movie theaters and schools instead of the shooting gallary where they belong...NO One is saying we want to take away a persons right to own a gun if they feel like cowards and need one...we want tougher laws on people getting them so easy, illegal or otherwise and stricter gun laws ..so if you own 1 and keep it under your pillow good for you we don't care about you because we wont ever meet you..thankfully....some of you gun supports are making your fight so ridiculous...NOONE WANTS TO BAN ALL GUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY DO YOU KEEP ARGUING THIS POING YOUR MAKING IT WORSE FOR YOUR CAUSE...makes me think all gun owners need some brains.
Police were notified....., police responded to a call......, the assailant took his own life. All to be reported by police. When are people going to learn, you can be a first responder, or helpless victim? It is presently a choice. Obama appears to have the opinion we should all be victims.
Mr. Burns, Who is infringing on your Constutional rights? Before the Tea Party came along I'll bet you didn't even know about the Constitution! Try reading it!
This is proof that the law abiding citizens of California should be given their 2nd Amendment RIGHTS BACK.
Should YOU Mr or Ms Tax Payer working class law abiding American Citizen be able to protect yourself and those you love?
MORE RIGHTS NOT FEWER
ALWAYS
MSNBCMFE - "Burnsy, People with guns infringe upon my right to life."
Correction - Criminals with guns could infringe upon your right to life. People with guns do not.
In fact, a law abiding gun owner may instead help protect your right to life in the unfortunate circumstance you have a run in with a criminal with a gun.
mguy - surely you aren't serious about the way you came up with that "statistic".
First off, name the source that tracks self defense "murders". FBI tracks deaths by weapon, no indication if it was self defense or otherwise. And second, how do you compare that number to accidental gun deaths and come up with your assertion? Accidental gun deaths come from a variety of sources: hunting accidents, range accidents, inappropriate firearms handling, and the list goes on... A lot of these the person doesn't even have to know the owner of the firearm.
The ONLY way your assertion has any merit is if ALL accidental gun deaths were the owner of the gun, which is far from accurate.
mguy-478
Nice attempt on clarification, but they are so head strong on finding a reason....any reason to *itch and complain about something. It would not matter how carefully you spelled it out for these morons.
vie05us
I did not come up with that statistic.
I was explaining to him what that statistic meant, based on the original source. And if you had any amount of reading comprehension you would see that I specifically said it was "misleading" because it is not an accurate comparison.
LEARN TO READ.
McReal, you left off one key type of gun owner; gun COLLECTORS. There are many people (myself to a small degree) who appreciate firearms for what they have given us over the centuries.
You have some that are truly works of art, never been, and never to be fired. Most collectors are vets or historians who want to own something of their time period, or a hold onto a piece of what helped build. Some guns, the M-16 included, are literal pieces of history you can hold and appreciate what it's done for this country.
When someone points a gun at my windshield I freeze......when someone points a bat at my windshield I run his ass over, twice. Do you need any further clarification as to what the impact a gun has on the outcome of any situation?
chrisk196
Unfortunately you are correct. Even though I am a gun owner, I am embarrassed by the rampant stupidity of every other gun owner (specifically the ones in this forum).
The greatest threat to the 2nd amendment is not a politician passing legislation, it is all the other gun owners who are so god damn stupid that they don't even realize when I agree with them (like vie05us). They make us all seem like raving lunatics who are not capable of rational thought.
We need to ban carjacking, if carjacking was banned then none of this would have happened.
@ MSNBCMFE, exactly which right to life we're you referring to? It doesn't exist! If you're referring to the V Amendment that only refers to the government being required to exercise due process. Read the thing; what a maroon!
@McReal, (NOT) obviously you're the type of person that seriously under estimates the diversity of the American people. Perhaps, if you lived here, you'd know that; and if you do, you "really" need to get out more. P.S. I would be a Constitutionalists, in favor of the II Amendment as written, so you can stop dreaming about me having a "little pistol."
I live in LA, and it is impossible to get a CCW unless you are a celebrity, or know someone. I have tried. I had a stalker for almost 2 years before she killed herself. Late nights call going back and forth from "I love you" to "I'll kill you". Also in 2001 I got car jacked. That lasted for almost 3 hours. The one time I was happy to get pulled over by a cop was that day. It probably saved my life. I cant get a CCW to carry legally, but...I also dont always obey the speed limit.
Guns don't kill people.
People kill people ...yeah with guns.
So take the guns away from people - and then people without guns can't kill people.
Well but cars also kill people - why not take cars away from people too ?
Because cars primarily are used for commuting. Guns are not used for any purpose other than killing.
However, gun enthusiasts say that most guns are sold to and bought by law abiding citizens who should have the right to own firearms in order to defend themselves.
Right. Makes sense. But i need the following two stats in order to decide who gets my vote on this topic -
1. There are 33 people killed by guns in America everyday. What percentage of those killed are killed by guns that are legally owned. If most of them are killed by illegal guns owned by criminals then there is no point in banning guns.
2. What percentage of violent crimes are stopped or prevented by people who are licensed and legal gun owners. How many instances are there per year when a gun owner has stopped a crime in progress by brandishing his gun. Also, how many instances have there been where having a gun has not prevented a victim from being victimized ?
Once we have these two bits of info then we can formulate a reasonable policy.
Everything else is just leftie or rightie ideology driven hot air.
What a freaking waste - the guy should have saved us all the trouble and just killed himself before ruining like dozens of people's lives.
If he wanted to have some fun before going to see Hell - He could have just stolen cars when no one was in them - but I guess he was too STUPID for that.
All he knew how to do in his whole life was shoot a gun and kill people and that's how he will be remembered.
Guess you can mark this as "A bad guy with a gun".......
Lisa,
Your post was painful to read. I have a headache from trying to put together your blather.
I'm not calling you wimpy. You seem like a pretty tough old crab! LOL!
I'm just saying lay off of my rights! I don't NEED a gun for protection. I'm glad it's there JUST IN CASE.
Plus, I enjoy target shooting and NO! I'm not a hunter, in case you were going to blame me for killing Bambi's mom.
I live in the country and law enforcement is a long way off. I have several weapons which I can turn to in case of any threat JUST IN CASE. We all lead different ways of life. Stop telling me how to live my life! I'm not trying to take away your rolling pin am I? Har!
No really. We should all give up our guns and just trust our government, both rep and dem, that China will not come over here and take over. The same as the British tried to ban guns in america so that they would not meet resistance when the red coats came. I really do wish you all the luck in the world and hope you don't have to learn the Chinese language. So when the British are coming, just blow your whistle and use your cell phone to call 911 and then wait for help to arrive. Again, good luck to you and yours.........
Sum Dum @!$%#
mguy-478, We do not know you so who the hell cares if your embarrassed, and this is the internet saying you are a gun owner does not make it true, i can say i own 30 cars but that does not mean i really do.
Target practice, self protection, hunting; none of that matters. ALL THAT MATTERS is that the constitution gaurantees me the right to bear arms to gaurantee a free state. Oh, and it doesn't say merely own them, it says implicitly to bear them. That means carry them on your person. It is my and every other legal citizens right to do so and that is that. So all of you anti gun nuts can just drop the issue now. You have no right to take my rights or to infringe upon them. PERIOD. Fact: Permits of any kind pertaining to the ownership of guns are illegal and unconstitutional. The forefathers did however give us the means by which to change the constitution, it's called an amendment. It takes a super majority in both houses of congress, 2/3 of all states governors, and the signature of the president. That's all.
The forefathers knew that criminals and crazies existed even back in the ol' days of proper manners and civilized society. They just didn't coddle the bastards. If you murdered someone you got hanged by the neck until dead. If you robbed someone you got hard prison for a LONG time if you survived the arrest. Todays society is so f-ing backwards. Baby the perp and slap the victim in the face by handing out probation. I say it is time to get medievil on these cretins doing this crap.
And LEAVE MY RIGHTS ALONE!
So it's all guns right? Ever check the stats of deaths in the U.S.? First place goes to the auto mobile, killing five times the number of adults as guns. It is the number one killer of children 0 to 18 years of age by a factor of 25 to1. Second, is heart disease. Third is Cancer, all forms.
The fact is, guns are down on the at about eleventh place. But hey, let's not let facts stand int eh way of a good old fashioned socialist over reach.
I find it ironic to say the least, the number one arms dealer in the world, (the President of the U.S., who ships more guns in a month than all the guns stores in the U.S. sell in two years), Could be so opposed to the very thing they are making billions of dollars from selling every day.
Criminals like this carjacker either steal the guns they use, or they buy them from those who do or those who smuggle them in from Mexico. Yes, the cartels are smuggling guns now all this gun hysteria has driven prices of undocumented guns through the roof. Any guesses who is buying them? That's right the gang bangers and other low lifes. But Mexico has strict gun laws you say? really, Guess who has been selling the Mexican government millions of gun over 60 years, that's right the U.S. government. In turn, the Mexican government hands them out to family and friends in the cartels. Mexico and the cartels have been in bed together for decades, look it up So stand by, we sold them million of various machine guns, I can't wait for those to turn up on the streets of L.A. Chicago, NYC, how about you? But, as I said, facts tend to land of deaf leftist ears. Even in light of Eric Holder and Co., committing a felony by walking guns into the hands of the cartels, 2000 we know about. How many do we not know about?
SO lets not enforce the 27,738 gun control and regulation laws currently on the book and going largely un enforced. NO lets make it hard for the law abiding citizen and easier from the thug. Criminals care nothing about the law, they don't follow them anyway, ergo, the term criminal. Laws only apply to those who CHOSE to follow them. The more you crack down on something the more desirable it becomes. Prohibition of Alcohol make the Kennedy's rich, Since Joseph Kennedy made million running alcohol in from Canada and selling it to the east coast Mobsters. So my guy is every gun they ban will be secreted away in a closet by previously law abiding citizens. Just like last time, the rush will be on to buy on before the last ban, which did nothing to stop crime. Read the stats, You are more likely to win the lottery or be struck by lightening than to be killed by any of these "so Called" assault weapons. The real assault weapons, those that are select fire or fully automatic are where they have been since the National Firearms Act of 1934 and as amended in 1968, In the hands of the Military and Police. They were make illegal for possession of the general public in 1934. Only the cops and criminals now have them and the criminals are getting them from the cartels smuggling them into the U.S.
But hey, pass what you want, I have mine and tons of ammo, so if it makes you feel better. By all means do rely on 911, ( state sponsored dial a prayer) and the police ( who can't be every where) for your salvation when a group of home invaders are brutalizing you, your wife, your kids. I'll go down fighting, thank you very much.
Wonder when we'll get to see the first article about a "good" guy with a gun shooting another "good" guy with a gun because he assumed he was a "bad" guy with a gun.
But I did see a cool comment on another thread regarding the Pistorellius or whateverthehell his name is: "He was a law abiding citizen with a gun until he killed his girlfriend with it and became a criminal with a gun. " :l Er...
Anyhoodle, don't go all foamy at the mouth callin' me lib this or that, cause I'm not. I don't mind guns, I guess.. even with all the @!$%#-ups turning everything in to Lethal Enforcer. Guns or not, we're going to keep having psychotic EXTREMISTS (left, right, religical, parental) all over the place, that won't change. People just kinda suck. I'll keep mine to protect myself from both "good" and "bad" guys with guns when everything really hits the fan.
CRIMINALS with guns is what you MEANT to say, right?
Mike-475880 Post # 1.44
Not sure where every one of the gun nuts on this thread got the idea anyone was banning their guns. Delusional much?
Well, lets see. Colorado just passed in the house a bill banning all magazines holding more than 15 rounds. Now my grandpa's old J.C.Higgins semi-auto .22 squirrel rifle, (that's one shot per one trigger pull) is now illegal. It has a tube feed magazine that holds 18 rounds along with a lot of others like the Glenfields, Marlins, Remingtons, etc. They want to take it away because it holds too many. It also makes my Remington 552 semi-auto .22 rabbit and squirrel gun illegal and up for grabs by the banners. NOW WHO'S DELUSIONAL? Certainly not this "gun nut". BTW, these rifles are made with a permanent magazine that cannot be changed out for a smaller one So the only way to be legal is for the powers that be to take them and have them destroyed. Now ask again where I get the idea that no one is trying to ban them. Say again, "DELUSIONAL MUCH?????"
KrjMc-3082425
The idea you need them for protection is pretty much a myth of the NRA, very few guns are used to stop criminals except by the police.
Last year 54 million people stopped a crime with their gun.
Judging by his name , im betting he didnt really care about our laws or ways of life. I hate to stereo type, but the more our country fills up with so many other people of other cultures , especially ones who incite violence, killing, ect ect then we can expect to see things like this more and more.
Personally I would love to see our borders locked down. I dont feel like being run over by so many other cultures. There is no getting along. It amazes me that people think that our society can be some kum bi ya way of life. There is too much variety and it clashes . Ya in a perfect world it would be nice if we all could get along, but only a fool would think such things are possible.
Maybe if all the women had blown on their rape whistles, the shooter would have been stopped sooner.
half cherokee..................hey me too! i half cherokee also.......yeah he is delusional , every time i read or hear someone say.......no one is banning guns.....it makes my head throb. freaking morons........they just do not get it. colorado does not surprise me. i live in texas and that sh#t would not happen here.
I'm not going to argue either way about guns but how's about this ONE a Family that believes in the Right to bear arms is Killed and a Family that feels Guns should be band and that Family is Killed it's interesting what both sides would feel would the incident affect what they actually think about Guns? Tell you what both sides would blame the other and nothing would CHANGE so why even waste a single brain cell on this BS. "NOTHING WILL CHANGE".
This stat is bulls$it and you know it! Your name however is intriguing! lol! What are you doing this Saturday?
He shoulda fired the last shot first, taken himself out, and spared the rest of the people.
That would take a criminal with morals and integrity - kind of like an oxymoron.
Will never happen because he has to feel that control that comes with having one and then needs to prove his manhood by killing the innocent.
If only we had banned guns. Then we would have no more criminals because guns make people bad!! This guy would never had gone out and killed somebody if he hadn't had a gun.......
Sarcasm by the way....
OMG!!Exactly how many cars did this one man need!? He has killed three (3) innocent, minding their own buisness, going about their day- people, injured one and then offed himself! No answers will ever be known, just speculation.
Ladera Ranch is a sweet community between San Juan Capistrano (where there are CCW in that town because of the working Ranch and the cougars, foxes, rattlesnakes they are always having to be on guard to not attack the cattle and horses) and Las Flores. I am so sadden by this; the community is just your average upper middle class (in apperance) kind of community! People just trying to have a nice life at the base of a mountain. Wild, Wild, West indeed.
Jerry, unfortunately, they always seem to need to take someone with them. Even Mindy McCready killed her dog first...
I really hate that she killed the dog - why did she do that? The dog was not depressed or hooked - he could have had a great life.
Boy this whole story gives new meaning to being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Can you imagine being the guy with the BMW? If he had just stopped at the yellow light - or left a bit earlier.
Man!
"McReal"....you aren't. You've used a broad brush to whitewash the facts to your satisfaction. "There are three types"....oh dead giveaway. I'm surprised you didn't preface it with "As everybody knows".. "2nd Amendment types (who have been brainwashed by their NRA masters" wow....apparently you have been brainwashed into thinking the NRA is somehow controlling the minds of gunowners...just like the AAA is controlling the minds of automobile owners maybe? "the crime and violence is everywhere delusional/paranoid types"...So, do you have auto insurance and health insurance? Do you think that an auto crash is around every corner waiting for you...do you feel like any second that a heart attack may spring from the shadows and wrap its grips around your pulsating aorta? Talk about paranoia. I carry because of the very real fact that there are guys out there just like the one this story is about.... and of course the "teeney weinie" offense. Wow. If all else fails, attack one's manhood. I guess your being "size challenged" yourself is what brought that up? Tell me, McReal, is that why you compensate with a shiney I-phone..an overpowered automobile and a blender with 12 speeds? C'mon, it's ok...you're among friends here, you can admit it. It's no "big" deal. I'll bet you're one of those who stands at the bar with a cigarette in his teeth FDR style while pulling the corner of his pocket tightning his trousers over the wad of socks in his pants, and one foot on the rail looking ever so studly? Yeah, that's you. And the crown jewell.. "Statistically, you are more likely to be killed by your own gun than by someone elses. That in itself, says it all." And do you know that you are more likely to die in your own automobile than someone elses? Damn! And, you are more likely to be killed by a medical mistake than being killed by a firearm? 64 times as likely, in fact? And, statistically, you are more likely to kill yourself? Be careful, McReal, you are more of a statistical danger to your own life than are all these millions of gun owners.
Ban Cars!
Let the people of LA, Chicago, NY, SanFran, Philadelphia, Boston etc etc
PROTECT THEMSELVES
Give them their 2nd Amendment Rights BACK

AND
KrjMc-3082425
NOW that you found that he DID, in FACT, kill himself, dont you both feel foolish ?
It couldn't possibly have happened in California! We already have universal background checks.
This only proves why California gun laws don't work. I moved from California to Nevada where we have conceal carry licenses. California and Nevada are BOTH Democratic states, yet Nevada has a much lower gun crime rate than California. Why? because you never know if the other person is armed or not, so you could be drawing on a cop or an average joe, but the end result will still be the same. YOU'LL BE DEAD either way.
Bagdadjoe - 1347766:
I used my "3 types" statement to ruffle some feathers. I win, I ruffled lots of feathers. I always get a chuckle when I write something tongue-in-cheek, and someone comes back to dissect it line-by-line...you win also. But I have to get serious about your logic. I mentioned one of the "3 types" (of gun defenders) were the delusional/paraniod type who think crime and violence are everywhere. You asked if I had health or auto insurance (refering to that I must be "paranoid" to have these types of insurance). I have to seriously ask you if this is the best you can do: link gun related violence to auto/healthcare insurance? I'm not sure I see your logic. Wait, I think I get it, let me paraphrase back to you:
Rightwing gun toting nutjobs do not want me to have reasonable priced health insurance. I contract a contageous disease. I am now spreading the disease. I drive to the store for some food, but they won't let me shop there because of all the disease spreading and I look pretty bad. Now I can't even get food. Things are looking pretty grim for McReal. Out of despiration, I go to Bagdadjoe's house to ask for some food. He won't help me though and tells me to get off his property "you zombie." So at night, only because I'm really hungry, I sneak into Bagdadjoe's house to steal some pancake mix and syrup. Unfortunately, Bagdadjoe catches me and shoots and kills me. There are 3 morals to this story: 1) Do not steal pancake mix and syrup, 2) Do not steal food from Rightwing Nutjobs, they would rather kill you, 3) Do not get sick with a nasty disease if you do not have healthcare insurance coverage.
This story probably made no sense, and it was intentional. Unfortunately, most of you do a better job unintentionally.
Well, it just goes to show how much help cops are, when you need a gun.
Nutjob that needed killing... too bad they let him kill of others first......
Hooray Guns! Making it easier for crazy people to kill a lot of people in a row since the 9th century AD!
If all those victims had been carrying guns, none of this would have happened. Right?
With a name like 'Ali Syed' no suprise here..glad he went to see his 72 virgins.
I was robbed and carjacked two weeks ago by two guys, as i walked over to the otherside of the car the passenger window came down and the driver was about to fire at me, when i drew my gun and blasted the hell outa my own car and them, And the police are now all over my ass telling me my life wasnt in danger and there treating me like im the bad guy they got me wishing i would have let these guys kill me! ive carried a gun for 19 years and that was the first time i used it to save my life and because i did im getting totally skrewed guess i shouldnt have called the police afterwards.
I strongly defend the Bill of Rights. I don't carry a gun because I am lucky if I can hit the ground with a pistol.
Don't that suck? A Texan with numerous guns, who has practiced all his life and still can't hit a barn
Right Mike...look at this situation, look at the name, look at the history and here is nothing more than another lazy, illiterate, muslim who thinks that eternal happiness awaits when he kills and then takes his own life, all in order to meet his muslim happiness forever.
Ban people!
He didn't want to die alone.
When you know it's your last day alive, who needs inhibitions to stop you from expressing even the slightest anger or contempt for others around you, that you don't like.
"I don't like the shirt this guy's wearing, or the clueless expression on his face." BLAM! "(WOW, what a thrill that was for me to just blow away that f**king retard!)." " That guy in that car that pulled up next to me, almost looks like this dumbass that argued with me yesterday." BLAM! (Yes, that felt GOOD to do that!) "Look, its an an old man walking across the street... I hate these useless, feeble bastards. ...Better I put him out of his misery." BLAM! "This guy's car is blocking my car in this bumper-to-bumper traffic. Damn you for getting in my way, eating up a few moments of my precious time, you a-hole!" BLAM!
My condolences to the surviving families of his victims. Firearms in the hands of the enraged and uninhibited makes it too easy to kill many innocents in a short time, "...just because I felt like doing it."
There's a pattern forming. Something must be being put in the water to have these rash killings, for seemingly no reason, being committed by males with no criminal background.
Manchurian candidates maybe?
battleboy
Just curious... why are you talking about your situation in a public venue when there is an ongoing investigation into the matter and the potential for charges against you? Either you're incredibly stupid and going to end up giving the DA something incriminating with which he/she can secure a conviction (even if you were in fact totally justified in discharging your firearm), or you're lying about the whole thing. If it really did happen, you have the right to remain silent.... USE IT!
This idiot was just a huge doosh. If you want to get any deeper you can blame it on Satan. period.
man, California is not a good place to be this month. Syed dosen't sound very commen for a last name. First gen immigrant perhaps?
Isn't Biden announcing that everyone should be happy buying SHOTGUNS instead of "the very bad and evil AR15"?
Are you wrong Mr. Biden? Are shotguns evil now too? Or is it time to face the obvious reality that people are the problem not objects?
speakthetruth....Gun laws seem to have no affect on the crime rates. We have pretty liberal gun laws in the midwest here in St Louis and murder rates are very high. Armed citizens aren't stopping the murders.
Blaming a gun for the actions of a sick person is like blaming cars for drunk drivers!
@Ryan...The police have already been up my butthole with a finetooth comb and flashlight, theres nothing i can post that they dont know
One thing for sure, it will never, ever, ever, happen again. Never!
battleboy: Good luck. You're going to need it. Your case is the case my gun trainer always warned me about: Never fire when you're in a point of safety or to protect property.
hey king, California right?............................
The killer was a legal gun owner with no criminal record and gun owners say the solution is more gun owners. Most mass shooters are legal gun owners. What we need is less gun owners!~
People will misuse the firearms they can get their hands on. In the case of shotguns, they're very common in some places - more rural areas and around farms, especially - so people who are 'desperate' to get a gun will often take an available shotgun instead of seeking to acquire a handgun or an autoloading rifle such as an AR-15 type.
To me, the vice president's suggestion is 2/3 sound. Most people would be well covered with a double barreled shotgun in most situations. Hey, the police had more gun than they really needed in the old .38 Smith and Wesson Special double action revolvers they carried all those years in most situations. The problem was that more and more situations started to arise where it just wasn't adequate and something more capable was a reasonable solution to this problem...but even today, most instances of use of lethal force by law enforcement officers (as well as private citizens) only require one or two shots to be fired. Keep in mind, though, you can safely complete most road trips without wearing a seat belt. It's the odd one here or there where you get in a wreck where that seat belt saves your bacon. In gunfights, you occasionally get those circumstances where you are unable to make your shots connect, usually because of a barrier or some sort in the way. Chain link fences are notorious for deflecting bullets so your aimed shots narrowly miss, but if someone is shooting at you through a fence (they don't stop bullets!) your only choices are to take cover (if available) or shoot back in an attempt to neutralize your assailant. That fence may make his actual misses hit you! Glass can act similarly, and ducking behind concealment or cover while trading shots can make life very interesting, too. Concealment can hide you, but won't protect you. True cover may be unavailable where you're at, but even if it is, just ducking behind it doesn't ensure your safety. You don't want your assailants joining you behind that cover, or getting anywhere near it. If you can't keep them behind their concealment, they can flank you as you sit behind yours and then attack you as a sitting duck from the side or behind. As long as they're armed, they can 'pin you down' there, too, so you can't escape. You need to end the gunfight ASAP, which is going to require you neutralizing your assailant or else someone (like your backup) showing up to give you a hand. It all boils down to one or two shots is all you need like 98% of the time, but it's that other 2% of things that can happen where you're in a real jam and extra ammunition can be the easy solution when combined with your skills and ability. Given the nature of some of the real bad guys out there at this late date, I'd want nothing less than a 12 gauge pump shotgun with a minimum of five cartridges.
Now, for the 1/3 of the VP's suggestion that doesn't sit well with me. Does he have any idea what the state of the double barrel shotgun is today? The old side-by-side, once very common, is archaic and relatively very few are available for sale at any one time. Decrepit antiques are usually available if you look, but there's not even very many of those out there. Modern reproductions are out there, mostly for the cowboy reenactors, but they're not exactly cheap nor are they especially plentiful. The over-under shotguns are easy enough to find...for $1000 to 1500 on up! I'd say out of touch advice from an out of touch politician...
My question is where was all the masses of reporting of gun violence before 9-11 and homeland security. The crime hasn't changed just the amount of reports that sway public opinion on 2nd amendment rights issues. No disrespect to any and all victims of any crime gun related or not. It's just sickening how some will go to such lengths to sway the public in order to achieve an end to their means. I didn't hear about the same crimes being committed as a child growing up and I don't wish to hear about them now. I am really not even sure why I wasted my time here.
Force california to succeed.
Put a fence around So. Cal and let them have at it, that place sucks.
Alfred - you are ignorant.
So Cal is nutland. I used to live there.
I'm with Al. Let em have at it. Same goes for Chicago
Give it back to Mexico
I live here in So. Ca. I agree its become a nutland. But before you throw stones take a look at the rest of the country and how its being transformed. WE are all in this together. Do you honestly think that millions of illegal aliens are going to stay in Ca, Tex, Az.? They are spreading out as we speak. Look at the laborers in Arkansas to the east coast. Everywhere they go the crime rate skyrockets. Everything from Armed Robbery to Drugs to DUI's. Lock arms with your brothers even in different states. We are all in this together. NO AMNESTY PERIOD.
I think they already did that, Rocky, starting about 30 years ago. Thanks for the thought though.
Liberals are commies is right. I live in NH and we have them here. Not to the same extent mind you but they are here and we see more each year.
It's time for Calif Atny Gen. to make Calif law abiding citizen "shall carry" now becuz criminals are packing fully loaded concealed guns and not obide the law, we need protection now, it takes Law Enf to long to respond to gun violence. Our guns shoot first in self defense then ask question later. WAKE UP AMERICA!
I know the areas these crimes were committed, I am wondering if it was an illegal alien that committed these crimes, would not be surprised. My car was T-boned in an intersection by a drunk illegal alien in the city of Orange, it was not his first offense and he had been deported several times, he had a pistol in his car and he served 3 months in OC county jail before he was deported, ... yet again.
i live in So Cal and Alfred is correct. Wish i could leave but cannot!
rocky-2318920
Too late. We already did.
@RAGBAG
Screw leaving, I say let's take it back. So. Cal. was the best place in the world to grow up in the 50's and 60's.
@ LiberalsrCommies,
No kidding...I'm in SoCal too. I went back home to Indianapolis last year for the 1st time in 30 years. As we drove through the westside, I could have sworn I was in Tiajuana. I have nothing against Mexicans, or any other foreigner that wants to come here as long as they come here LEGAL. Those that think illegal imigration only effects us in the southwest are looking through blinders.
Born & raised in So Cal in the 60s & 70s but it is so different now especially with the country as a whole becoming more liberal like a cancer
Liberals didn't just give away America and it's future, they imported Mexico along with all of its problems which they love to pretend don't exist.
SoCal is a great place! It's the people who live there that are the problem!
How about the criminal justice system?
what criminal justice system? That system protects criminals.
...the criminals are holding office in Washington, D.C.
It sounds like he failed to actually obtain the vehicle at each 'carjacking'... It sounds like this guy was more into shooting people that stealing the vehicles. Dunno what was going through his head but it's a shame so many people had to die for whatever this was.
random...sounds like a lead bullet went through his head....
Manchurian Candidate?
Just what I've been thinking LRC! Too many "random" coincidences going on that feed into the agenda. What's a few innocents for the greater cause; sacrafices must be made for the greater good, right?
LiberalsRCommies & Citizen Frank:
Paranoia much? Just sayin'....
Ah McReal, denial much? Just sayin'....
Too much too soon since right after the election! Just sayin'...
Multiple daily reporting compared to hardly ever reporting! Just sayin'...
Like I said to you in a previous post, you either don't live here or you need to get out more often. Believe it or not stuff happens all of the time; you can choose to wear rose colored glasses and mock those who question the progressive motives exhibited buy the people of wealth and political power or you can learn from it and be aware! Being ready for the worst and not experiencing it is much more preferable to me than not being ready and enduring it.
P.S. Please stop dreaming about me having a "little pistol."
Citizen Frank:
You are a paranoid delusional if you really believe that stuff. Get help.
This world is a wonderful place. Is there violence and does it happen daily? Yes, unfortunately. But for every act of violence, many many more acts of beauty occur. It is up to us to seek out the beauty and not get caught up in the violence. Lest we become violent.....understand?
One of these carjackings was practically on my doorstep. I've lived here for over 15 years and have never seen anything like this in the area! Orange County is NOT LA -- the stereotypical crime activity associated with LA doesn't happen here -- sure, there's crime, but there isn't that much of it and this area is generally not violent. Shocking events to be sure! My understanding is that the carjackings were successful, just this idiot wasn't in much control and ended up crashing/damaging them while he was on the run and thus kept needing another. I'd really like to know what was the motivation behind this guy's actions -- why he killed the young woman in his home in the first place that then set off this mad run.
McUnreal..........put down the bong and tear up you medical marijuana card.....
Illegal to carry a loaded weapon in your car in Cal... too bad. Senseless death.
Hey maybe random-30023 is on to something. The person realized that he/she would get into trouble if he took a car and had a loaded gun in it??
As always, only the law breakers break the law, leaving the rule followers dead.
Kevin your analysis is simplistic at best. If we follow your logic motor vehicles would be outlawed. The firearm is not the root cause of this behavior. And its a shame nobody had the capacity to return fire.
Just think, however about your comment and logic on the gun. If the vehicle was outlawed/banned then the criminal would not have been trying to car jack.
If I am ever confronted by a homicidal lunatic, I will seriously hope he has a weapon other than a gun to attack me. At least I'd stand a chance. And before everyone starts telling me that if I had a gun I could kill him first- it is unlikely that he'll announce himself before the attack and graciously offer me a chance to get my gun out of my purse so I can defend myself.
Then he'd be stealing horses or roller skates or hang gliders, doesn't matter, he WAS a criminal, thief, murderer, and a general oxygen bandit. Criminals will always find a way commit their crimes. It's just a shame the victims have to rely on the police to defend them when they are 10 minutes away.
@rmb22- If you have been given the proper training and enough practice, you will be more able to defend yourself with a legally carried gun. Maintaining situational awareness when out in public is the number one way to prevent yourself from becoming a victim. Most people see it coming but fail to notice the danger.
Ok Etherfreak. Let's allow all the guns we can produce to exist, but not allow any nut cases, which could be anyone at anytime, to have them. The guns are innocent and we will keep the people innocent as well.
Did you read about the good guys that had guns. They were military and roommates. One had the hiccups and the other cured him by blowing his face off while they were watching the game. Do you not get the news about the good guys that kill their wives and themselves, sometimes their kids, because they aren't responsible enough to seek mental health treatment when they need it. How about the good guy Dorner. Law enforcement and Military Officer and he got mad for being disciplined at work and took it out on his ex-commanders daughter and her unaware fiancee. I could go on all day. Most of the gun violence comes from the "good guys." Do you not watch the news.
@ Phoney, your sarcastic writings make no sense! Guns are an inanimate object they have no ability to be innocent or guilty. Yes they do exist; however, it doesn't matter how much news dribble anyone watches, the gun must first be picked up and used by a person, nut case or not, to have any kind of an impact on society.
Furthermore, do you really simplistically believe there is even the remote possibility that all of the produced guns presently in circulation will somehow magically go away forever; or be not allowed to exist, your living in a euphoric bubble. Simply put it's never going to happen.
You, along with everyone else who buys into the biased media's offerings, are being willfully victimized; try thinking for yourself for a change, it's rather liberating. Don't believe me, switch through the channels during the news hour and try to find a station that isn't showing you their version of what every other station is spoon feeding you. You'll find they even time the commercials to air simultaniously.
@Phones
They aren't a "good guy" the instant they decide to take another innocent humans life. More than likely they were't "good guys" even before that moment.
stop being an idiot and educate yourself with some common sense
It did cure his hiccups though.
Phones, I not only read the news, but I do something which you obviously dont and read statistics. Stats prove what you are saying is incorrect. Yet if you only watch the lefty media, you would think these good guys are the only criminals.
Phones, actually your incorrect. The bulk of firearm violence is urban/gang related. You could also throw in the drug trafficing trade with that.
BTW, Dorner wasn't a good guy. Good guys don't go on shooting sprees over losing a job for any reason.
Your examples of firearm violence is a small percentage of the total number.
Then more people will die.
Todd- I was on my highschools rifle team. I first shot a gun when I was five years old. My uncle was a NY State police officer who taught us all really cool weaoponry and marksmanship. ( I can shoot you with a bullet, an arrow or a marble out of my slingshot- all equally accurate) I am plenty trained in gunmanship. I just don't walk around with one in my hand all day. I realistically know that most people don't get warning before they are killed by a gun.
I don't carry in my purse. They make a jacket pocket holster. Fast access.
Australians were having mass shootings, and in 1996, outlawed certain weapons. They had a massive buy up of illegal weapons in circulation. Since then, gun deaths are down 65-80%. Gun safety is a choice that saves many thousands of lives. It could save yours or your loved ones. Don't say gun safety can't happen in the US. The culture of violence is a choice....a poor one that's finally being challenged.
gun deaths are down, but how about violent crimes like rape or assault?
LIve in fear, die in fear or kill in fear. I do none of the above.
PBinCA maybe you should check your statistics. Shootings are down (though homicides dropped 9% and firearms related deaths only dropped 3, so figure that one out), and every other crime other than armed robbery is up.
So I suppose if you are a woman who doesn't mind being raped, Australia is a good example, since the 3% decline in firearms deaths has been traded for a 20% increase in sexual assaults and a 40% increase in assaults.
If you are not a woman or don't care if you are raped, the law is a great idea.
This is what happens when the government takes away your 2nd amendment rights. It could have ended at the 1st location. If not at least that woman would have had a fair chance. The police cant protect you!!! Under our Constitution you have a RIGHT to keep a gun and to carry it. PERIOD.
The progressive communists in California have ruined that state.
When did the government take away our 2nd Amendment rights? As far as I know we still have the 2nd amendment, still have the right to own a gun, still have the right to apply for a CCW and get one if we haven't been convicted of a felony, correct?
I also think the police do a pretty good job out there, especially considering all the whack jobs that have easy access to guns because of your precious rights.
Or this could be what happens when we allow just anyone to have a gun without bothering to determine if they should have one.
Criminals have them because we allow them to.
KrjMc,
"Criminals have them because we allow them to."
Criminals don't actually care to get our permission before comitting crimes.
@ Two Dogs, of course our 2nd is still there! The point being made is that there is work afoot to diminish the right, slight infringements that in time will amount to the right being null and void.
@2dog
while i live in a "must issue" state, from what i have read Ca. is a "good cause" issue state. that clause is what most sherrif/Police chiefs use to not issue legal CCW in the state of Ca. while the "can" issue CCW in the state of Ca., they generally don't
krj, No one "allows" criminals to have firearms. No more then anyone "allows" them to commit crimes.
Yes the 2nd Amendment is being infringed upon, but really this is an amendment to the constitution. Things change as society progresses, hence the change to the constitution. Would any of you argue that the 14th amendment wasn't needed after society progressed to a point beyond slavery. I would hope that one day society could progress beyond the need for war and weaponry at which point the 2nd amendment would be useless anyway. Now I am taking a stance of devils advocate here to make a point, but all in all the constitution is a living document and can and will be changed from a majority ruling. Just sayin'
That's your argument...take away a basic right on the basis of time? Ludicrous at best. By your logic, do we need to revisit the first amendment as well due to Hollywood? Surely our founders didn't see TV and video games coming. I'll tell you what Gilligan, you create your utopia state with no guns and see how long it lasts or how safe you remain. I"m keeping mine. ?
Think about it - I suggest you brush up on your history re the US COnsitution. The Bill of Rights (the first 10 ammendments) was put forth for a number of reaasons - the first is that the Consitution itself was not a slam dunk, much debate and factions, the Bill of Rights was put forth to satisfy those who did not want government infringing on the rights of individuals, and the rights of the individual states. The story of the constitutional convention is fascinating -. It should be said the Bill of Rights has never been amended.
@ Think about it, I thought about it and I can only surmise that you're not an American citizen!
How else could you profess to minimize the fact that you recognize the infringement, which is expressly a violation of the II Amendment, and then go on to minimize the Amendment's active presence as a piece of the whole document.
Hoping and dreaming for a progressive non-violent society (Free Love, Flower Power!) is not going to happen in any of our lifetimes. Just sayin'... What a maroon!
Think about it - one other purpose of the Bill of RIghts is to prevent (minimize) the tyranny of the majority over the minority. If our society was so perfect we would not need the Bill of Rights to guarantee our right to own guns, or for the freedom of speach, or to assemble.
KrjMc put your money where your mouth is and tell us how many of those guns were obtained legally...ie; we "allowed" them to have guns.
No we blame the person WITH the gun..and all those who allowed him to have one...obviously he had mental
issues so he should not have had a gun right...just like the country singer who just killed her self....known drug abuser, kidnapping her child charges, stints in rehab but yet she had access to a gun....WHY???????
if only we would prosecute the people who allow these people to have guns to the fullest extent of the shooters crimes maybe I would give a rats a$$ about someones second ammendment rights.
If she didn't have access to a gun she would have hung herself, sat in the garage with the car running, or overdosed on pills(which she already tried). Mindy McCreedy had mental issues. :(
Lisa- Who said either one of them were crazy? That's like a medical opinion. These folks are both dead, so it's too late for a diagnosis. Maybe it was that moment of clarity there at the end that allowed MM to go visit her old man. Maybe this other guy just had poor communication skills. Problem is, if people like this clod today can't get a gun, they'll get a butcher knife or a hammer. I don't know what his problem is(was) but as someone else already pointed out, if he would have taken his last shot first, then the whole gun thing would have been a GOOD idea.
They are trying to prosecute these people they are criminals.
Dave I was being sarcastic most Gun supporters are saying that we don't need stricter gun laws we need better background checks to avoid mentally ill people from getting guns...hence my question how did these people have guns? and why are not the people who supplied the guns to them held accountable and yes if your suicidal you are mentally ill and yes if you think its ok to shoot random people in a car jacking you are mentally ill..there is no way to determine that at time of gun purchase!!!! is the point..
And School...I don't care how this woman kills herself the point is she had a gun and killed her dog and if her kids where there she could have killed them also...and yes she could have done it with a hammer or hung them but the arguement is about gun control not about hammer control...and I think if this guy had a hammer instead of a gun while carjacking 4 would have had a better chance.
Look up 'Smart Gun' on Wiki; this may be a very good solution going forward. Maybe smart cars, too.
"smart cars suck" the SMART , ITS LIKE A SHOE instead of a car ,its a deathtrap on wheels
As our brilliant politicians take away the right for honest citizen's to own and posess firearms, you are going to see more and more violent crimes, by criminals, as they and the police will be the only one's to have guns, and the police are always too late or not there when you need them. So be prepared to read and see more of these type of crimes and murder.
Yes, once we take away guns from the people, only the bad guys will have them.
Why didn't someone call feinstein. She could have saved the day; she is the saviour for Cali. After all, she helped get the chinese a port to enter the US.
greatminds - On the other hand, if guns were outlawed (not saying that would or should ever happen) no one would have guns. So, we would all have a fighting chance against criminals.
Bill - Just cuirous......How many articles have you read where a criminal tried to do something like this and any of you gun-lovers were there and stopped the criminal? Oh, none? A criminal will just shoot you first, before you have time to pull your gun out. Crazy! Creating the "wild west" is not the answer!
All people...you are right...you never read from the liberal media where a gun was used to save someone....Why?....I know a nurse who used her .357 last fall to shoot at a known rapist breaking into her house...she missed, he tried to flee, however, her dog put a hurtin' on the loser....oh yeah...he filled his pants with a foul smell too....
Bill K. NO ONE IS TAKING YOUR RIGHT AWAY TO HAVE YOUR PRECIOUS GUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT I SAY GET RID OF THE GUNS NO ONE NEEDS, THAT WAS JUST MADE FOR KILLING SEVERAL PEOPLE AT ONE TIME. @!$%# man I have guns and I am not so paranoid to believe my 2nd right has been taken away!
"Bill - Just cuirous......How many articles have you read where a criminal tried to do something like this and any of you gun-lovers were there and stopped the criminal?"
Uh,
"http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/02/19/17017235-homeowner-shoots-kills-intruder-climbing-through-window?lite"?
If you just click back to the main screen?? Like two storys above this one?
AllPeopleRights
good thinking, no one will have guns. I do not know where you are from BUT I would bet good money in the largest city in your area that a person could with the right amount of money by a machine gun. Oh and by the way they have been outlawed for well over 50 years. Care to take that wager??
THE POLICE in LAPD and sorrounding areas are the ones going around shooting up innocent victims ,just look at the crap with Chris Dorner ,the cops shot up multipule vehicles with innocent victims unrelated with the case
BrianPatronie, you do realize that isn't the same, like, at all? The man climbing through the window wasn't even armed. He wasn't even on a violent rampage.
@AllPeople
you don't do much investigation and digging for info on your own do you? you just digest what the liberal media spoon feeds you and call it good. go do some research on your own before making assinine comments like that.
"......How many articles have you read where a criminal tried to do something like this and any of you gun-lovers were there and stopped the criminal?"
go read about the Portland mall shooter. when the shooter was confronted by a legally armed citizen he took his own life.
there are many, many more instances of people with WL defending themselves. go look it up
AllPeopleRights,
You have the most ironic screen name ever for someone who hates one of our basic rights.
Criminals would still get guns since many of the guns gangs used are smuggled in by the Mexican Mafia and other international gangs like MS 13. Wanna fuel the gangs in Mexico even more? Make guns illegal here. Mexico gets most of their illegal guns from South America, and if you think people cant cross the border with guns, you obviously know nothing about our illegal alien problem.
And you must just read NBC to get your news on people using guns to defend themselves. Clinton's own study showed guns are used an estimated 1.5 million times a year in self defense.
Please give up on ignorance before condemning a constitutional right.
AllPeopleRights, I hope you're trolling but in case you're not:
"greatminds - On the other hand, if guns were outlawed (not saying that would or should ever happen) no one would have guns. So, we would all have a fighting chance against criminals."
Unless the criminal decides not to obey the law by not giving up their guns should guns be illegal. Just because someone has a gun it does not mean they are registered gun owners. Im sure cartels would be all over selling guns illegally if there is a market made for them. Kind of like what happened during the prohibition. Weed is illegal in most states and federally, yet it's just as common as alcohol. This is how cartels make money... because they break the law. By your logic, no one has weed except in states where it's legal. That's just silly. Bombs are illegal, yet you can out the right search terms into google or some other search engine and learn how to make one.
"Bill - Just cuirous......How many articles have you read where a criminal tried to do something like this and any of you gun-lovers were there and stopped the criminal? Oh, none? That is not always true at all. If you see the criminal breaking into your home before it sees you, well, the ODDS are against the criminal. America exists because people DEFENDED their rights to freedom on American soil.

Sorry, but I refuse to be defenseless against unregistered and even registered gun owners, who WILL break the law, because I gave up my gun.
I recall reading an article here on MSN actually, months back where a woman and mother who lived about 20-30 mins away from any police response shot and killed an intruder who tried to break into her home while she was with her baby. She warned the man not to come in because she DID hear him breaking into her home BEFORE he got in. Once he opened the front door, she killed him with the shotgun protecting her baby, herself, and her property. To say guns won't stop intruders and/or murderers is simply ignorance because it happens every day.

Yes, because if we outlaw guns, criminals would simply obey the law and go without guns. They'd never try (and succeed) to get them ILlegally !
LH-72529
So, LH, because someone used a semi with high volume clip, we get rid of THOSE types of guns - and THIS yahoo, today, used a shotgun, and we get rid of THEM too - you see, YOU, as a sheep dont realize that when the libs are done, if we're LUCKY, we'll be able to own am S&W revolver with 6 in the chamber...that is, unless we're not allowed to own a handgun at all (because they're concealable).
(from "Sheep" by Pink Floyd) - Should be your theme song, LH.
@ LH, STOP YELLING, IT'S ANNOYING, right!!!!!!!!
First of all, it's called the Bill of Rights, not the Bill of Needs. Secondly, what if I need to kill, be capable of killing, multiple assailants; you've probably heard of gangs before, they tend be several people at one time? I, much like Bill K., believe the writing is on the wall. Like I stated earlier, they don't have to take away the Right, they merely have to render it null and void by charging excessive fees, much like they did with truly automatic weapons, or by creating cumbersome laws that infringe upon the Right.
LH:
Name ONE right the government has not abused.
When they passed legislation for income tax, do you think congress, in its wildest dreams (or the electorate) envisioned a 40% bracket ?
When they passed social security, did they envision it going bankrupt ?
When they approved deficit spending, did they envision it to be in the TRILLIONS ?
When they gave the President power to call in troops in an emergency, did they envision that right to last 10 years ?
Sure - we can say "no assault weapons in excess of 11 rounds", do you REALLY that THAT will be the scope of the types of "prohibited" weapons ?
Have you seen ONE right...that the Federal government HASNT abused ?
Has our government, when given an inch, EVER not taken a yard ?
LH-72529, Feinstein wants ALL guns taken away, she's even said so. Educate yourself on the issue before acting like a jackwad.
The ONLY one to blame is the criminal.
I blame grand theft auto. The guy could have done the same thing with a cross bow.
How about we blame the human being who is responsible !
Yet another proud day for gun-lovers.
It would be if this happened in a state where these vicitms could have legally defended themselves with a gun and not been simply victims. Otherwise this is a proud day for gun hating lunatics that think guns are the problem and think this will further their cause by blaming gun owners. This idiot was already in the process of comminting crime, do you really think any weapon ban would have stopped him from illegaly obtaining this gun and stopped him from acting like a criminal maniac? Back to your kool-aide sheep!
Congratulations! You win the most ignorant statement of the day award !!!!!! (and the day isnt even over yet)
John N must be from chicago where everyone is so safe because of all the gun laws.
Just answer me one question John. Are more people killed by guns or cars in the united states?
You are right. It is proof that strict gun laws work. It is too bad they work to the criminal's advantage. None of these people had the ability to defend themselves. Put yourself in their position.
Rusty, there is one problem there. It probably has happened a few times today in states that allow you to carry, but liberal leftist MSNBChit won't publicize it as that wouldn't fit into their anti-gun agenda. They will do all they can to keep those quiet.
People have got to start protecting themself and their own families. The government can't do it.
John N 963175
Please see Mike 1899132's post. Take off the rose colored glasses first!
John,
If you need a license for a gun, you should need a license to post comments
you are VERY, VERY ignorant or just plain STUPID if you think for one minute that
responsible legal gun owners take PRIDE or LOVE when someone is killed by a
criminal with a gun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Apparently you “GET OFF ON IT” as to post
something so ridiculous as that statement! I have guns for sport and self
defense and if you have a problem with that to bad, but don’t try and paint a
picture of legal gun owners as rejoicing in a “MURDER”!!!!!!!!! YOU MY FRIEND
ARE A SPECIAL KIND OF STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My heart goes out to the victims,
family and friend of this crime.
Killed purposefully? Guns.
Actually its another proud day for those in our government who refuse to allow us our 2nd amendment rights.
bet the car jacker wouldn't have got that far if he tried this in texas !
Well stated Tired in Texas!
You know you rarely hear of any car-jackings in Colorado. The criminal would have to be pretty stupid because it's common knowledge that everyone who can legally own a gun here can carry it loaded while in their vehicle for protection. That idiot in CA obviously didn't have that immediate fear of equal oppositional force to deter his need to assault and abscond. I say good riddance to him and my heart equally goes out to the victims and their families; for all I know, one of them could be mine.

rmb:
The fallacy of your answer is two-fold.
1. Do you think the parents of a dead child hurt any less depending on the method of their child's death ? Do you think the drunk driver who kills more than the gunman is any less a killer ?
2. The wrong question is asked here - it should be:
"what is the main use of a car ?" (answer: to get from "a" to "b" - very few ppl kill, percentage wise (intentionally or unintentionally, with cars)"
vs.
"what is the main use of a gun?" (answer: target practice, self defense, collectors items - VERY few ppl kill, percentage wise (intentionally or unintentionally, with guns)"
Of course, what I was trying to say was... If I wanted to kill someone on purpose, with premeditation I would chose a gun over a car. Since I don't really think as a killer I may be totally off base with that.
With the 3 strikes and life imprisonment it is no wonder that criminals will shoot it out rather than spend life in prison for what could be a minor offense. The sacrifice of innocent lives is well worth the price of the message we send about the 3 strikes law.
,.
,.
Calfornia's governor jerry brown just put 75 killers on parole. no wonder people think that the laws are a joke !!!!
,.
,.
Granted it was an intended consequence of the law. I suspected we would see some of this happen. Criminals aren't known for their compassion after all. Revolving door justice isn't working either. It results in many more victims which may include lost lives.
It's kind of a damned if you do and damned if you don't type deal and I don't know that best solution. I do know that after so many arrests, you have to figure a person just isn't cut out to live in society and needs to be permanently removed from the presence of law abiding citizens.
Frankly you do not hear about responsible gun owners saving they or their families lives is simpy because MSmedia doesn't cover stories where guns and those that use them for good. As an example a 11 year girl shot two illegal aliens who were trying to break into her bedroom, they had already broken into her house, she called 911 and was on the phone to her father when these scumbags were breaking down her bedroom door. Yet how many of you heard this story and it is just one of the many incidents where firearms was used to defend. Gun control or getting rid of the 2nd amendment is not the answer in fact the reverse should be done, this world we live in is getting increasingly more dangerous. Blame who you want but the responsibility is the criminal that chooses to commit crimes.I grew up around guns and I remember when california was wonderful place to live and grow up but it is more mexico then a state of the USA. Calling 911 or the police is not an option when your life is in danger, average response time for 911 call is 23 minutes, most shoot outs are all over within 1.6 seconds and let me tell you about the LASD or LAPD your lucky to see an officer in 36 hours and I have waited 3 days just for them to come out and take a report. Its better to be judged by 12 then be carried by 6, you people who want to be disarmed ok but allow us who have the courage to defend ourselves our right to do so. If a conservative right wing doesn't like guns he doesn't buy one if a liberal don't like them he or she tries to ban then and all you have to do is look at Feinstein she is hypocrite she has a CCW permit and packs a snub nosed .38 and has armed protection. At Obama's children's school there are 11 armed guards, every school should have armed guards as the president's daughters have at theirs.

Jon H.-1189490
He have to make room for pot smokers? Good plan to make prisons safer, gotta protect the criminals.
Another sad story with a criminal using a gun to kill, but hey! Lets restrict the crap out the good tax paying, law abiding, gun owning citizen!
2 inanimate objects 1dead person, and you are worried as to where to lay blame. If there is no concern for 3 inocent people needlessly killed, introspection might give you some insight.
I know balme the person who made the road, as if the road was not there then the car would not be there either. makes about as much sense as blaming the gun. a gun is a hunk of metal and other materials machined to be a usefull tool by its self it is harmless the real problem is the nut job and no gun law would stop them as they dont listen to the laws anyway... I blame the president as if he was listening to the people he would be working to bing jobs back to the usa and with people working they would not have as much of a reason to steal things .. so how are they going to blame the ar15 or high volume clips on this????
You can never stop criminals from obtaining weapons that is why they are called criminals. If we destroy all guns they will kill someone with a knife,we ban all knives they will kill with a fork, ban forks kill with a bat, ban bats and so on and so on. Liberal policies of banning things never work, So Cal used to be a paradise now it is an overpriced, over regulated, criminal infested war zone.
We in this country, spend a lot of time, money and energy in trying to ban things like guns. Why cant they work just as hard creating jobs ? A busy person wouldnt have time for trouble if we could all work at a decent wage. WHERE ARE OUR JOBS ?
I guess if someone was trying to carjack me with a knife or a fork, I would have to say my chances of survival increase quite a bit wouldnt you say? Or is he going to fork me to death through the window?
I agree isellmoney.
People keep making this argument about banning guns, then the knives, spoons, forks blah blah. The simple truth is if a 10 year old was trying to jack you of your stuff with a fork you would simply kick the sh!t out of them, but that same 10 year old wielding even a 22 caliber pistol would have your stuff and half the neighborhoods with enough ammo.
So the question still begs to be answered. Do we arm every citizen to the tooth so we have an all out state of stalemate or do we try to completely ban guns and take some casualties along the way? It has to go one way or the other because we are in the in between right now and well this story is the end result.
Now the obvious right now would seem to be arm everyone with the instability that is the world today, but at what time do we say enough is enough? Possibly never as has been proven by human history and certainly not in my lifetime, but one day it would be nice to walk in peace. Probably in the next life I suppose.
California must have the lowest crime stats and lowest prison populations......liberals keep up the good job of restricting laws and the police. And for heavens sake, "Stop police" brutality!!!
I own 2 shotguns for hunting, they can buy them back. For the once or twice a year I actually hunt, I would honestly rather play golf. :)
Think about it-2012248
Your argument goes both ways, thinkaboutit:
That Smith & Wesson IS the great equalizer. Instead of that 10 year old jacking you, it's a 3o year old breaking into a house to rob or rape. That 20 year old woman would have NO chance with the gun.
You ask "When do we say enough ?"
Well, thinkaboutit- I'll tell you this much. YOU and those of your ilk, would say to that 20-something girl when faced with that rapist "hey, young lady, just spread, ok ? it's for the good of society."
No thanks.
Writing stupid, useless laws that control the peons is a lot easier than our politicians actually doing their jobs. It's all about getting their personal pet projects passed while totally avoiding doing any actual work that might benefit the people.
What laws have been passed lately that have actually had a good solid, tangible impact in favor of hardworking Americans?
If he would have tried to carjack a responsible gun owner the first time, this gang-banger would be the only one dead.
...Had any one of the victims been armed and trained to defend themselves this would have had a happier outcome....stupid B.O. wants to continue the carnage by making us even more vunerable to the degenerates....thanks pres, how about resigning and letting someone with some morals and brains take over?
The people of California should demand from their legislators that they be given the Right to carry a concealed weapon. Then again, these are the same people who have given us Nancy Pelosi. I guess they live in a dream world.
Fantasy land.
We have pretty strict law covering crimes where the offender has a gun in his possession during the commission of the crime, but here is an example of a perpetrator who either did not learn his lesson or is simply a psychopath. It is hard for anyone to believe that this man is a first time offender when he is willing to murder in cold blood in order to take a car. This world is becoming more and more violent. Is is video games, TV, or are kids just being raised to think they don't have to work for things they want that they can just walk down a street and see something and just take it away from somebody else? Guns just give insane people and bullies power, the wrong kind of power, power over others. Gun advocates pretend that it's the weak and vulnerable that would be hurt by restricting guns. Those aren't the people buying guns. It's the bullies that buy guns. They use them for protection, protection from retaliation, protection from having people band together to give them what they deserve -- protection from justice.
Sandy, you need to go to a legitimate gun shop and see who is buying guns. It's mothers, fathers, young single women, college graduates, business executives and civic leaders. Gun stores are out of ammunition and short on guns because law abiding citizens are buying everything in stock in order to exercise their right of self protection just as you have a right to choose not to protect yourself or your loved ones. Nobody likes gun violence but the politicians don't know how or don't want to address the cause of the violence, they only know how to use sad catastrophe's to promote their agendas.
Sandy, Sandy...Sandy. Do you know how silly that sounds....read your words through a few times...then THINK about what you said.
I have owned guns most of my life and have never used then to be a bully, I do and have used them for my protection against people that have thried to harm me or my family and have never had to fire a shot for that protection. People don't mess with people that they know have guns and that is facts you can look up thats why places that have bans have move problems with guns and thats another fact.
Shucks. That is all this story is worth. The daily occurrence of media covered shootings is the new norm and the banter that comes after on the forums makes my day complete. Heartless? Maybe but what do you expect from the angry, bitter, divided country. Just another day.
Have gun ... will shoot.
It's as American as mom and apple pie.
Over the past 2-years, we've lost twice-as-many citizens to gun-violence each-year than the total number of soldiers lost in combat in Afghanistan and Iraq. Go through that statistic again slowly, and absorb it.
Remove the gun violence statistics from Chicago, New York City, Detroit, Washington DC, and greater Los Angeles, from your totals, and the rate of gun violence plummets. All these cities have highly restrictive gun laws, if not out right bans. Banning guns just means the law abiding citizens will not be able to defend themselves and their families from the armed criminal elements in their city. If banning guns made citizens safer, Mexico should be the safest place on Earth.
That's right, warm apple pie. Those numbers, do they include coalition forces and enemy combatants?
Well true sort of. The number of guns or people who have guns in the US is over 300 million. The number of soliders in Iraq less than 50,000. More people have died from drugs and alcohol last year than the past 10 years of US combat. How many guns were used in OKC? How many guns used on Sept 11? Fact people kill people. It's doesn't matter what you do. If someone wants you dead good chance it will happen. People are sick and the media feeds mental health issues. Statistic's can be played to anyones advantage. Facts the states with the harder gun laws have the highest crime. Fact by your own government. (FBI)
you are NOT A CITIZEN , you are a SUBJECT if you are not allowed to defend yourself !!!
Absorb this, without guns youd be speaking German or Japanese right now. Let that sink in.
That's right... what he said ^^^
Its the NRA and White Man's fault .
Delete Black on Black Crime and Gang Violence, you would reduce crime by 80%

"Absorb this, without guns you'd be speaking German or Japanese right now"
And that's bad? So if we were speaking Japanes or German right now we would have some of the best technology in the world. Some of the best manufacturing, as well as 1/10 of the gun violence. If we were speaking strictly Japanese we would have about 50 gun related deaths a year. Sounds ok to me. I might be biased though as my dad was from Germany and my wife is Japanese. Would be an easy life for me.
Think about it - I'm sure we can get you and Piers Morgan a plane ticket...........one way.........to either destination.
HRDawg
Well then, the answer is simple:
Let's just send all the gang-bangers to Afghanistan....
