Several cars were wrecked as a result of a shooting on the Las Vegas Strip near the famed Bally's casino.
Las Vegas police are looking for a black Range Rover after a sudden burst of gunshots and a car fire led to the deaths of three people on the famed Strip, shutting down the gambling boulevard in several directions.
A Range Rover Sport with black rims and tinted windows pulled up to a Maserati at a stoplight at the intersection of Las Vegas and Flamingo Boulevards around 4:20 a.m. Thursday, Sgt. John Sheahan of the Las Vegas Police Department said.
The occupants of the SUV opened fire on the Maserati as both cars went through the intersection. The driver and passenger were hit by bullets, killing the driver, according to Sheahan, and the Maserati flew out of control, striking three other vehicles and a taxi cab.
The cab burst into a fireball, killing the driver and a passenger, as the Range Rover fled the scene. It doesn’t appear the occupants of the Maserati ever fired back, Sheahan told The Associated Press, contradicting initial reports from the scene.
The shooting occurred in an area of the Strip occupied by some of the city’s most famous casinos, including Caesars Palace, Bally’s and the Bellagio.
Right near the Las Vegas strip, one car opened fire on another eventually resulting in a fiery car crash killed three people. NBC's Brian Williams reports.
Four people were taken to the University Medical Center in downtown Las Vegas with moderate injuries, hospital spokeswoman Danita Cohen told NBC News. Three of those patients were treated and released, Cohen said, while a fourth remains at the hospital. Cohen did not disclose the status of the remaining victim.
All four injured persons were adult males, according to Cohen. The identities of the individuals have not been released.
Police are warning people to be careful if they spot the black SUV that fled the scene. Police said the car has paper plates from a car dealer, though it’s not clear what state the plates were from.
“We want to remind everyone that they are armed and dangerous,” said Officer Jose Hernandez of the Las Vegas Police Department.
The manager of the Desert Cab company said the taxi involved belonged to his company, but declined to say anything else to the AP.

It was Biggie in the RR and Tupac in the Maserati.
I have to hear more of the story.
It is a tragedy that the boulevard was shut down in all directions. As public gun violence becomes more commonplace in our country, we should adjust by conducting business-as-usual while these things happen around us.
Becomes more of a commonplace??? It's been happening since Europeans came to the US. It's a hot topic now so everyone is going to report every shooting that happens anywhere to make it seem like this is a new trend. The internet makes all news local.

And doesn't it seem wrong to stereotype a Range Rover like that? J/K
Black Range Rover with black rims ...... black Maserati ..... Las Vegas at 4:30 in the morning ....... gunfire .....
Anyone on Newsvine could write the back story for this incident in their sleep.
Only one person was killed by gunfire in this case. The other two were killed when their car burst into flames. Just proves that cars are more dangerous than guns.
yep! we need an investigation into taxi cab gas tanks. Those cars should not just burst into flames.
It was happening here before the Europeans got here. Don't make it sound like everything was all ducky before then.
Looks like East LA is moving to Vegas.....
I would've though that there would be a large police presence on the "strip". Given that the strip is a party spot with people bar hopping and gambling with hundreds of people on the street at any given time you'd think there would be cops all over the area ready to swoop in at a moments notice. Maybe they do things differently out in Las Vegas ?
So what Rap star was in the Mazeratti?
It the headline was "Las Vegas Mafia hit on the Strip", everyone would be like.. "That's friggin awesome!"
denver bill 2
Okay, I'm going with Siegfried had a beef with Streisand.
Report every shooting sounds like a good idea.
I must find out what model car the taxi was, that blows up on impact. Recall!
more black on black crime, with innocents as collateral damage!
Doesn't Wayne LaPierre drive a Range Rover Sport with black rims?
That boy just loves the spotlight!
@wje37fcsm;
Report every shooting that did not happen because someone actually did the right thing and reported the suspicious/abnormal behavior of a person they KNOW is having mental/personal/social problems sounds even better.
How many of you anti-gun "we need to prevent another Newtown/Columbine/Aurora theater" morons even know about the more than 120 shootings/bombings that DID NOT happen in the past ten years -- in places like Roy High School in Utah, January 2012; or Green Bay, Wisconsin in September 2006; Tampa, Florida in August 2011; and HUNDREDS of other such incidents that DID NOT happen because someone actually did the right thing and turned the would-be criminals in before they could commit their murders.
No, you don't hear about those incidents on the news because it seem that only murder and mayhem sells advertising space!
How many killers are enabled in their crimes because nobody will come forward with the needed information that can be used to STOP them BEFORE they commit their horrible crimes!?!
So according to Chris mass killings at Sandy Hook, Columbine, VA tech, Binghampton, Oikos university and Tucson (giffords) have been happening since pre-revolution times. What a crock of inane crap. Gun violence may have been happening since then but the scale of the death has increased as well as and the volume of incidences due to
A) people are more angry at EVERYTHING in the world due to societal polarization used by politicians and their media mouthpieces (yes, i am looking at Fox and Ted Nugent) and take it out on innocents. B) Guns are much more deadly now then pre-revolutionary times. How many stories of gun violence have you heard about a person using a musket to kill 10s of people?
C) Guns can be bought by ANY OBVIOSLY insane or imbalance a-hole at gun shows without any restrictions or checks.
D) Higher capacity magazines.
Chris's comment illustrates the ludicrous attempts by gun fanatics to reason through the gun violence we as a nation endure.
@ MSNBCMFE, it was your buddy Fienstien and her prison lobby crew in the Rover; LaPierre was chillin' in the passenger seat of the Maz, 6 million new membership fees to play with baby!
BloodthirstySavage,
"It is a tragedy that the boulevard was shut down in all directions."
You may have to do your gambling in Atlantic City now instead of Las Vegas.
Mickey, first I'll need to research the statistics on how many black Range Rovers there are in AC.
;-)
I agree lets treat guns like cars. You have to have your car registered, in many states your car has to be inspected every year, and all drivers are required to have at least liability insurance on their cars. The driver also has to pass a written and driving test to have a licence to drive a car, and has to have it renewed every so often. I agree we should treat guns like cars.
Just a comment...Why is it that the attitude towards guns and gun control is so different in Canada compared to the U.S.?....I am not looking for a pissing match....
@notliborcon;
When are people going to demand that HANDS & FEET are banned? 728 people in the U.S. were murdered in 2011, and hands & feet were the weapons used.
How about knives & scissors, etc? 1,694 people in the U.S. murdered in 2011, and knives, scissors, etc were the weapons used.
Or hammers, axe handles, etc? 496 murdered in 2011.
Compared to 323 murdered with "rifles" -- which includes those black, scary, "military-style" semi-automatic so-called "high-capacity magazine" so-called "assault" rifles........
It should be obvious to everyone that it's time to ban hand & feet, knives and scissors, hammers and axe handles, and all those other highly dangerous non-firearm "weapons of mass destruction".
quack....arguments like yours are the reason so many call them "gun-nuts".
@ The Quacked One
The answer to whether hands and feet should be banned depends on the size, gender, and number of fingers and toes on those hands and feet. You have pointed out that only 323 people were murdered in 2011 with 'rifles'. But according to FactCheck.org, 11,078 people were murdered with guns of all kinds in 2010. That means 8160 more people were murdered with guns in 2010 than with hands, feet, knives, scissors, hammers, and axe handles combined in 2011. Obviously, if we are not very specific in our data, the results we present will be skewed.

are devoted followers of Jesus Christ and the parents of Makayla. They have
been comforted by the knowledge that their little girl is with the Lord in
heaven and free from any pain or fear, saying "I believe this death, too, is for
a purpose. I don't understand it yet, but I know who God is and I trust that all
things work for the good of those who are called according to His purpose."
To assume that these shootings are a new found outlet of aggression is completely ignorant of history. Do some research of your own, and not rely on the Anti-American talking points of the Democratic Party.
No reasonable gun owner can reasonably refute the argument against large capacity automatic weapons, but intelligence lacking politicians want a total gun ban which gun owners obviously will never accept. 99%+ of the people who own firearms are responsible people who handle and use firearms as they are intended. The ban of firearms will not prevent bad people from obtaining them, see illegal drugs. Magazine capacity is a reasonable request, but when you have politicians who lack basic intelligence doing anything, they will fail, just as they have with the economy. All of us will be better served with "firing" the politicians in Washington, responsible for destroying what was once the greatest country in the world. They lack any moral or ethical qualities, are self serving, dishonest, and accept no responsibility for ruining this country. We would all be better served getting rid of them all, Republicans and Democrats alike. They banned drugs, and they are more available now then ever.
Dawgfan, it's good to see data used in the defense of claims. After looking at your comprehensive list of gun fatalities, I must agree that our nation should have committed itself to gun regulation long ago - even 200 years ago. It is even more amazing now that these kinds of tragedies still happen in 2013.
Obviously, the only thing to do now is to Ban Range Rovers, and to be totally safe, we should probably just ban all black cars.
@ notliborcon,
I'll address your moronic ABC's of anti-gun fanaticism.
A). Nonsense and jibberish, and using capitals to emphasize your jibberish means nothing. I will give you that people are angery and polarized; but anything beyond that is jibberish.
B). Your musket anaolgy was childish, guns were always as deadly as they are today; it simply took longer to kill more people, unless you had help and then it would be as fast!
C). Your "OBVIOSLY" a foriegner, a non-American, evident by your eloquent mastering of the english language. Not that it really matters; but it speaks volumes to your agenda to disarm Americans. You also have little or no first hand knowledge of gun show purchases where I live as they do require a background check at these shows. Furthermore, at present, there are no registries that would inform a seller of anyones mental issues; the real challenge at hand.
D). As a foriegner, I do not see that your directly enduring too much of the violence you are whinning about at present. To be completely honest, I am in my 50's, lived in various locations throughout the United States and to date have not physically endured any shootings or have I known or am related to anyone who has been shot other then my father who was wounded in the Korean Conflict.
Yea, that's the ticket. You've obviously never been to court to watch the proceedings involving traffic violations. It's funny how many people are there because they didn't have: A.) A license, B.) A Registered Car, and C.) Insurance for their unregistered car. I guess passing all of your laws is really kind of pointless when people refuse to follow them.
Well done Dawgfan.
Blood,
I guess you missed many of the killings that happened with weapons other than guns in that list. There are a few of them. If you want some other massacres where citizens didn't have access to firearms, then I suggest you look back a history and read about Khan, Hitler, The Crusades, Vendee, and most recently Dar fur. Over 16,000,000 unarmed people were herded up and slaughtered by Nazi Germany. They had guns until Hilter orders them be registered, and then he took them all and started his massacre. It's not the guns that are the problem. It's the psychopaths that decide to kill people.
Glenn, they'll not get my Black Oldsmobile from me until they pry my stone cold dead [and likely very stinky] right foot off the accelerator!
Bad situation in Vegas, it sounds like either a robbery, or a drug deal gone bad.
Old Us Guy - The current legislation targets semi-auto, not full auto. Secondly, a logical gun owner can defend high capacity magazines.... Just read the second amendment. Take time to note it does not mention target practice, hunting, or any other type of sporting use. It does however mention keeping the state free from tyranny.... which would imply military use. Therefore, high capacity magazines can be logically argued. If you would say they can't be - then lets take high capacity magazines away from our soldiers over seas. After all - obviously they can defend themselves just as well with 10rd mags .... right?
Perhaps because the British learned their lesson after the U.S. ot away from them?
Your numbers are correct. However, since the vast majority of gun ban comments are directed against "assault weapons" and the vast majority of assault weapons are rifles, The Quacked One's comments and examples are germane to the argument.
Indiana, so then we should get rid of all motor vehicle departments, and not require people to have insurance. Just let people drive cars without licenses? Lets see what happens if we do that.
1.40, when our home land resembles the ME, you have a point, but right now you don't since we are somewhat of a "civilized nation"
notliborcon,
So much ignorance that Im going to guess that you are either 8 or 9 years old at most.
First, the hate is really being fueled on the left. Watch how they call everyone racist, sexist, etc. The people who first started calling an administration a dictatorship were libs. They likened Bush to Nazi Germany, said he was trying to destroy black america, etc. You guys just get upset that the right uses some of the hate you guys have been spewing for years.
a. You know a vast majority of people who commit gun violence are liberals right? Check any crime statistic by area, then see the general make up of the people. Urban crime, mass shootings, etc. Hell, the famous right winger that did a mass killing Timothy McVay did so with a bomb, not a gun.
b. We have hardly any news at the time, but yes, mass shootings did occur. But they occurred and have occurred less frequently when there was less gun control.
c. You know this how exactly?
d. High capacity magazines were used by Koreans to defend their store from black people during the LA riots. Its funny that liberals are against high capacity magazines, until you realize that the times they were needed in our history were against liberals.
@notliborcon
I'm consistently amazed at the lack of ability on the part of dems/libs to claim any responsibility for the polarization that is perpetuated by their own camp... as if the conservatives are the only ones spewing hate and pointing fingers. They ALL do it. None are without blame. Guess what? It's working and the entire country is only a deacade or two aware from seriously resembling those screaming, hating masses from the middle East we are always being fed from the media.
Well, well, well notliborcon, I guess Dawgfan as well as Citizen Frank pretty much shot down your moronic post. Nice work guys! :P
intelligence lacking politicians want a total gun ban which gun owners obviously will never accept
What? You are getting close to not having a gun cause you are showing signs of mental health disease. nowhere can you find a politician that wants a total gun ban. Pierre is nuts and anybody who spouts his line is similar in mental capacity!. Soon we will al be on the same page when the exican cartls bring their guns up here and start dispensing gun justice...
NewStart2012... Actually the Europeans brought the GUNS. Pick up a history book from time to time so you don't sound like such a DOUCHE!
Read the Old Testament 10's of Thousands died in one day and there were no guns. The Sun and the Rain will come down on both Good and evil until the day of judgement and murder is not the greatest of the judgements. There is one in which there is no forgiveness.
lol@ ted nugent
LMAO @ jac - he throws Dawgfan and Citizen Frank under the bus in order to make his inflammatory dig.
Every word ever written/read is open to personal interpretation - if you want to see a winner in a post, guess what, you are going to see a winner.
I recently heard that a change in the way they report gun violence is a major reason the stats went down. So one side has their stats and the other side has their stats - somewhere lies the truth, just because I've heard the stats from both sides, doesn't mean I have a concrete answer...and I'll bet none of you do either.
Personally - the money trail is the real story - that is where the; who, what, where, when, why lies...when you answer those questions, I don't see any drastic reforms coming.
I'm anti gun just because humans do have anger issues - but - I've invested zero amount of $$$ to counter the pro gun $$$, so I expect nothing on my investment...lol.
Is there really a point to even investing your time on this issue, let alone your money...I'm with GW Bush (that seldom happens) on this stuff - lets go shopping. I need some Man Cave stuff now that the wife moved out - maybe a nice organic paper mache rhino head would look good where the wedding picture was...
breadex,
Obama has been quoted that he doesn't think anyone should legally be allowed to own a gun.
Sen. Feinstein has stated before that if she could ban all weapons she would.
Joe Biden said we don't need certain guns.
Truth is, is that it's not up to them what someone "NEEDS". It is up the the individual to decide. Those of you that don't like guns, well you already made your decision that you don't need a gun. Others feel they need a gun or a few for home protection, so they choose to buy one. Others feel that they would like to hunt, so they choose to buy a gun. Others feel that the govt could collapse and civil unrest would occur, because we have so many people dependant on the govt handouts that riots, breakins, and all other sorts of crimes would take place, so they choose to stock up on assorted ammo, assorted firearms, and non-perishable food items. Others have guns because they like to collect them, so they choose to buy them. Others also believe that the govt could turn on us so they choose to buy weapons. All of these are protected under our constitution, but only one is actually listed, because if the stuff really did hit the fan, then every single one of the above could be used to combat an oppressive govt.
Dawgfan; I've seen what weapons the government has - I'll be kissing their ass big time...and pointing out all the gun owners I know...lol. Good luck fighting drones - you thought Waco was bad? That, South is going to rise again, stuff, is going to get you hurt...let it go.
J.P. your vaunted govt had big time problems disarming rice farmers in Vietnam and goat herders in Afghan. Careful your head doesn't get shot off while you're pointing. Actually there is no chance of that since your head is stuck where the sun doe3sn't shine.
Citizen frank, MrBurns and Dawfan and the rest of your ilk...
Your arguments hold absolutely no water...
Yes, gun violence is not new or a product of the 20th century. They just seem to be occurring much more frequently. Dawgfans list of gun violence illustrates my point perfectly.
The "hands and feet" argument is simply a ludicrous argument. Something i would expect from a teenager and not worthy of discussion.
Calling me a foreigner, an 8-9 year old and stating that gun violence is committed, in large part, by "liberals":
Citizen Frank you are a xenophobe (go ahead and google Mr. I understand English better than you). I am a third generation American. What are you besides a myopic old man?
Mr. burns calling me an 8-9 year old while at the same time spewing vitriolic partisan rhetoric (not fact) illustrates to me that you are more interested in being told what to think rather than thinking for yourself. You blind partisanship is shameful.
Grace... I agree both parties employ vitriolic speech to engage their base but lets be real here. Obama has had to endure much more indignity from his detractors than even dear old GWB. if you do not see this then you are simply not paying attention.
Lastly, the proposed legislation to help curtail this latest bought of gun violence is not, I repeat, not an overt attempt (as most of you seem to think) to "take 'r guns". Forcing people to register the weapons they buy legally does not prevent you from owning a gun. Mandatory background checks (especially at gun shows) is tantamount to taking a driver's license test and does not prevent you from owning a gun. Making high capacity magazines illegal does not prevent you from buying a gun. Making easily assault style rifles weapons illegal (because they can and are easily convertible to full auto) does not prevent you from owning a high powered hunting rifle.
It seems to me that most of you are paranoid that the federal government is out to get "yer guns" and are willing to buy into the hype spewed by the NRA (who does not represent anyone but the manufacturers so don't kid yourself), rush limpbags, blue dog democraps and ted nugent. Must be hard to live in your world where every single actions (or inaction) taken by or on the part of the "govemint" is out to strip you of your 2nd amendment rights. Meanwhile, your silence on the degradation of your 4th amendment rights goes unnoticed and unheralded. this and the last admin adn congress have stripped the 4th amendment down to its bones and you say nothing. Simply amazing that the proposed legislation that bears on your 2nd amendment rights is the "fight" you involve yourself in.
Sorry to disappoint you jac-931625 but nonsense does not prevent sensible thought.
Roadlesstraveler - where in the constitution does it state that once civilized - the 2nd amendment no longer holds true? I don't seem to understand what our civility has to do with gun rights... please enlighten me.
@ Dawgfan-4710266
What you failed to HIGHLIGHT was that only six of these incidence occurred between 1857 and 1966, the rest came afterward.
My point is, since the 60's and the Liberal Progressive march toward hedonism in this country, with the rise of the welfare state, abortion and easy divorce, discipline in this country is gone. There are no consequences. No longer are men being raised by fathers. And how do you become a real man, if you don't have one to show you the way? Granted it isn't always successful, but it seemed to be more successful than the alternative.
Las Vegas police have released the id of the Maserati driver, a local rap star; it appears he got into a argument at a club with a couple of duds; they followed him, at at the stop light shot him, his girl friend and hit a cab driver; they are now going thru all the video footage at the club and on the strip, arguments in their community usually end in shootings.
Who said I, or the poster I was responding to, was referring to guns? Think before you write so YOU don't sound like a DOUCHE!
dang...if only every tourist was armed
I was thinking if only the Maserati was armed...
Ban Range Rovers. Heck, to be totally "safe" ban black cars. Well, just ban all cars as they can be used in a crime. Now, don't you feel safer?
Sounds like the ghetto rats from North Las Vegas made their way to the strip again.
Not to be a d*ck...but I'll put money on it that they were black and affiliated with rap and/or a gang! Any takers????....... "Yo yo....dis' is my block and my crack hoes, fool"! lol .......Gotta love todays liberal culture!!! Now they will want to ban black rappers from driving and people for owning a expensive car.....
@mexican communist...LMAO!!
I know, when the mafia ruled the city, it was so peaceful
Jamie,
Our guess it was south of the border drug lord hit.
Haha Mexican communist isn't that truth?
@ FrankLtree - If it was from the north side ghetto it would have probably been Cadillacs and Broncos, not Maseratis and Range Rovers.
Ashley 69 - the CDC has studied crime in countries with strict gun laws and have found that murder, assault, rape, home invasions, theft are 7-times higher than in the United States.
So for you it is okay that women can not defend themselves or their children and be a victim of violent crime?
Then put a sign in your front yard and window that says "GUN FREE ZONE"
The Maserati and the cab should have been equipped w/ James Bond style rockets so it would have been a fair fight.
More guns/weapons are what we need.
Ashley, Could it be the mind-set of the people in those countries? Perhaps they haven't been subject to the same foolish PC stuff that has been stuffed down our throats for the last 60 years, so much so that it is second nature for about half the people here, or at least those that are too young to have known the difference.
Yes, in the entire Japan the killing with guns of a 112 million people country a year is the same as USA police kill by shooting in just one day--so just what was the Black Ranger? were they afraid of the police, when they were discovered and seen as a witness and not killed, when they saw the police actually start the shooting as usual and cause this once again intersection accident, as 764 death by intersection "accidents" caused by police "accidents" just last year nationwide?
DO NOT buy everything you are told by the police, remember they investigates themselves!
@ Ashley 69, so what!
Now see how much higher other means of homicide are in those countries; I'll bet some of them are winning in the knife categories or the ever popular blunt instrument category. By the way, you might want to find another leg to stand on this one is rather wore out learned one.
"Maybe we can learn something. Many Americans are educable."
Well, my cuz lives in France, and she says the country has a safer feel than the US because there seems to be less voiced or act upon racism base on skin color, and less disparity between the poor and the middle class. But the Frenchies do hate Americans though. Maybe attitude has everything to do with it and not so much guns.
"More guns/weapons are what we need."
Well haven't you've heard about the zombie apocolypse, geesh.......how many zombies can you take out with a six shooter?
Better find out where LAPD was at the time, kinda sounds like somthing they would do.
Bubba Boudreaux... You are a liar! why not stand on facts? America has more gun related deaths than ALL developed countries COMBINED... That's what the study said and it wasn't by the CDC (Center For Disease Control) Dimwit!
To openly say you kill whatever is foolish. But you do have to do what you have to do. My family has property in the country and my gma's cat still lives out there and I have had to take out a couple of strays that have went after her. Unfort. There are quite a few ppl that get animals (and kids) that have no business having them.
Not saying guns should be banned or suggesting other laws, but if you're going to compare crime rates, etc look at the real facts. The US has a higher murder rate (any method not just guns) if you're comparing it to other civilized developed countries. That's a fact. They may have higher crime rates if you look at other crimes, but just murder the US leads. Chalk it up to culture or whatever you want, it's still a fact.
Banning all guns does nothing, But introducing more guns into the system solves nothing either. That's just more guns in the system for criminals to get a hold of. You're not doing anything except making a parallel change. If the good citizens had 10 guns and the criminals 5, maybe now the good citizens have 20 and the criminals 10. What did that do? Just more people shooting at each other.
Maybe if the "gun" people would actually be willing to even just talk and not just spread fear that all their guns are going to be banned and confiscated we might actually get some ideas on how to curb violence. But instead they would rather argue points no one is making. No one wants to take your guns away, Repeating nonsense over and over doesn't make it true. Instead lets just blame it on every other thing but the gun. Forget the fact it was invented with the purpose of killing things, it had to be the video games. Yep thats it. You want to complain about blaming an inanimate object for murder yet you turn around and blame another inanimate object, a video game. Hypocrisy much? Are people beating people with PS3's? No. But they sure are shooting them with guns. Yet you can't even entertain the talk? At the very least these people should just admit the fact they don't really care about fixing the problem, they just dont want their guns taken away (which wouldnt even happen).
Oh well, at least this is good for the economy with all the fear mongering gun purchases.
Tony Soprano did it. It's mobs revenge killing other mobs. Other people got involved and died were just in the wrong place at wrong time, in this situation, having a gun won't save you.
@zorloc
You don't follow current events too closely I take it. Taking guns away has been proposed in several state legislatures recently. Fortunately, the bills didn't pass. You seem to be the one "repeating nonsense"! Ashley-69 advocated just that in her post here today, so to say "no one" wants to take away guns is false at best.
Ashley 69 is a foreigner trolling with an agenda to disarm America.
Looks like many posters don't get out much - you can rent Maserati's and Dodge Vipers and Harley's, to name a few, at any high roller tourist trap...it's all about looking like you have money. Should have paid for the Maserati with the up-grades, like bullet-proof windows...the real shame is a cheapo like me got burned up in the taxi.
I love Newsvine speculation - so lets see if I can top the usual rhetoric. The taxi driver was a rag-head terrorist and his/her passenger was his/her son/daughter, with a bomb strapped to their body. They intended to blow up that Pirate ship display, but it went off prematurely. No shots where fired, it was bomb shrapnel. Some of the bystanders also reported seeing a disk shaped object hover above the Strip at the same time as the explosion, and the psychic hotline claims a ghost emerged from the big fountain...
It happened at 4:30am - I thought all the guys who couldn't score, were in the boobie joints at that time of day/night...that's where I'd be :P Actually one trip down that Strip and I need to take a taxi back to my motel, my old ass is toast after that adventure.
Here is some of what the local news has reported...
LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Las Vegas Strip became a scene of deadly violence early Thursday when someone in a black Range Rover opened fire on a Maserati, sending it crashing into a taxi that burst into flames, leaving three people dead and at least six injured.
Police believe an altercation earlier at an unspecified casino resort prompted the car-to-car attack in the heart of the Strip at Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road.
Witnesses also told police the SUV and Maserati had come from the nearby CityCenter area, just south of the site of the attack.
The taxi might have been propane-powered, Sheahan said.
It's kind of eerie to see how upset pro gun people get - if I were pro gun, I wouldn't sweat it until the anti gun money out numbers the pro gun money...law makers can't balance a National budget, but they sure can pad their personal accounts.
It ain't that hard to figure out.
all of the anti gun folks on here crack me up. The fact of the matter is that crime happens, and yes this includes murder. Accidents happen, people commit suicide, and die from poisoning. it happens. Life happens. Unfortunately, the single greatest truth of life is that we are all going to die. Period. No other one tops it. So, with that being established as an undeniable truth, wouldn't it be better to quit worrying about the how what where or why of your death, and start worrying about how you live? To live in fear is foolish. To hand over your rights is stupid. To give up your freedoms is assinine. Because in the end it isn't about how you die, but rather how you live.
As for what causes all of this? Well, it comes down to basic human sociology. It is our society that is sick, and that what needs to be addressed. Back in the 60s there were laws put in place that restricted the level of violence which could be shown on television. That is why the A-team showed no blood or death. That started to change though. And yes video games have changed. Computers and the internet came along. Musical lyrics that incite disrespect. Drug use that is rampant in so many neighborhoods. The list goes on and on. ALL OF IT contributes to some extent. There is no single cure, because it is a dynamic issue. All of these things combine to create a great social whirlpool which is sucking this great country down the drain.
But none of that matters when it comes to gun control, because it is one of my rights and every other citizens as well. PERIOD. It was placed where it was in the constitution, because it was that important to the founding forefathers. Why you ask? Because the freedom of spech is the most important because it gives us strength of voice against government abuses, (not the right to stand on a street corner and sing vulgar lyrics to passers by). The second amendment was written at that point to give teeth to first, and to prevent anyone from taking the first away from us. Trust me, this is not an issue they took lightly, and human nature has not changed ever. Without it we are all at risk of losing the other rights we still enjoy.
So it comes to this. DO NOT even think of taking my rights in any way. It is wrong and will be resisted. if you want to change the constitution, they gave us the means to do so. Lest I am mistaken, it takes a 60% majority vote in both houses of congress, 2/3 of all governors to vote for it, and the president to sign off on it. Right now I don't think the last one will have a problem. But the other two? Eh not so easy. To attempt to do anything else is a crime against the constitutional laws of this country, a crime against the citizens of this country, and tantamount to treason against the nation. It deserves the highest form of punishment available.
I hear it was Celine Dion in the Range Rover and Wayne Newton in the Maserati
bet universal background checks and assault rifle ban would have prevented these killings, sarcasm...
Ban gambling, yeah, that's the ticket. Along with banning guns, alcohol, drugs (non Pharma), dancing on sundays; these measures work, look at the success rate. SARCASM!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ban brown skin, black skin, white skin, cars, bullets, and ban anyone under 35 yrs old. Ban imported cars, imported people and imported oil. Ban exercise, music and the arts, books, and dresses that dont cover the knees. Ban driving after dark. Ban Banning!!!!!!!!!!!
gerryg11 and idiotsrule.... now boys, quit picking on the poor libbies, you know they aren't happy if they aren't banning something that taxpayers like!
Per Joe Biden: Hey, we're not saying you can't have a car, but nobody needs a Range Rover or a Maserati. The best car to have on the street is a VW Beetle.
Ban Obama
I agree! We and our children will learn very soon that this administrtion's policies will (and are) creating an economic tsunami in America! Much more damaging than existing gun laws, which obama is spending an inordinate amount of time on, basically because he has no clue how to be a leader! Campaigning is more fun than leading.....
rockaddict
You have come up with the ultimate ban! That would be a beginning of improving not only our country but the entire world. You are a genius! Now how do we get it accomplished?
Wayne? Wayne is that you???
Talk about idiots ruling... they sure do run their mouths.
We need to ban people remember guns don't kill people. People kill people. NRA. Not Realy Associated.
@idiotsruletheworld - please don't ban chocolate. Please. I promise not to sue Hershey or Godiva for making my ass fat. Pleeeeeease don't ban chocolate.
Got to put Bull's eyes on the Republicans so they shoot the right ones then that way the Republicans can shoot back LOL ...
Sam, could they hit the target? Remember McCain would be shooting so would the Speaker of the House.
Bubba, VP Cheney was the poster boy for gun safety. Can't get a deer? Shoot your friend.......
howbout banning d-bags who end every unfunny post with LOL?
No, we need to ban high capacity fuel tanks. This would have made sure that the Range Rover was in a gas station..........problem solved
Ya Beauford, but Cheney was shooting at a deer friend!
I don't understand how this could have happened. I thought guns were harmless.
I wish I had a more wild imagination....like some posters.
Buy yourself a legal riffle and then stop crying like sissy girls about your toys.
ummmm....sounds to me more like your wishing to a shooting star.....settle down, nothing happens so swiftly in the USA that it cannot be stopped or controlled...we don't have leaders like that...this isn't a communist country...stop wishing you lived like it is
the sky is not falling, we survived Bush, Clinton, and every other president so far...fear makes you so very ugly and usually makes you the bad guy not the other way around...so don't freak out ok.
FloridaBoy- good one.
can you clarify what you mean, because it appears that you are calling for the murder of right leaning individuals...am I correct?
I'm always willing to help people who lack understanding.
They are. Some gun owners, on the other hand, are not.
bubba boudreaux - you are wrong - the countries that ashley mentioned do not have anywhere the crime that this country has - look it up properly and you will see that particularly australia and canada have nowhere the crime that the united states has - i know these countries well - this country is becoming so barbaric - seems no value on a life here anymore - calgary canada does not even have in a year what houston, texas, detroit and chicago have in a month. to ashley you are so right - kudos to you.
"I don't understand how this could have happened. I thought guns were harmless."
Well, if a piece of metal is harmful, we all be dead, since our blood contains a percentage of iron. Just saying...........Now lead on the other hand could be harmful to your health.
Is there any such thing as a logical comment from a conservative? My word, it's just one idiotic statement after another. How embarassing for that group.
earl, we are waiting?
Yes, guns are harmless - as long as you do not use them for their intended purpose. Which is to shoot a bullet. If it is used as a paper weight or door stop containing no bullets it is harmless.
@ assieE,
Actually crime was down in the United States and if you're just comparing the numbers of crimes without adjusting for the varying populations their numbers would naturally be lower than that of the States as they all have smaller populations. Your choice of words gives you away, Ashley's probably trolling right next to you; lame effort. If you're playing from Ashley's playbook, she'll embarrass you every time.
Another foriegner trolling with an agenda to disarm America.
Happy trolling!
Wow! What happened to comments 1 and 2; were Chris and Rick the total of those comments?
But, man, does this sound like the new MOB? There's something going on here and it's got to be bigger than it looks on the outside!
By the way, Crystal, you're too late to tell that to my mom's uncle and his little brother. He was never able to forgive himself after he shot his brother's head off with a hunting rifle that he had just cleaned and knew good and well that it was empty. But how many times have any of us heard of mysterious stories similar to that?
Is this manhunt a complete state wide all law enfocements hunt..with a $1,000,000 REWARD ?
If not..they will never be found...sorry to say it.
The killing of any citizen in our nation is equal in justice..not just a chosen few!
Blacks...
Just announced....Dead is rapper Kenny Clutch who was driving the Maserati.
Look up TeeJ and Kenny Clutch on Youtube. Even sings about black Maserati.
Hmm .. you mean like the way that the House voted 31 times to repeal Healthcare reform, knowing that the legislation will go nowhere? Or, the way that the tea parties campaigned on the promise of jobs in 2010, and then spent most (all?) of their time on social legislation? In contrast, polls show significant public support of some action on gun laws, with over 90% approval of strengthening the laws on background checks to remove the loopholes.
I really hate living in a smalltown in the midwest where we don't have gang bangers shooting each other's expensive cars up on a regular basis!
So... what DO they shoot there on a regular basis, each other's '76 Pintos? ;-)
howie,
paper targets, tin cans, large fruit, coyotes, bears, deer, and yeah every once in a while someone will have a junker we can use for target practice.
No they talk each other to death, haven't you seen Andy Griffth! Floyd the barber was a mass murder!
It must be a pretty small town, because I live in Central Illinois and the bullets are flying just about every day... they do not even wait until dark anymore!
Perhaps we should bann all guns like they did in Chicago... it certainly has worked there.
The media is making a big deal about this. when hasn't violence occured in Vegas??? Vegas was built on it!!
I also live in a semi-small town in the Midwest, about 200,000 people. And I have to say - its straight up dangerous around here!!! Every time I go to the range there are guys all huddled around their new gun(s) socializing and having a good time - shooting at paper plates about 100 - 300 yards down range. The odd thing is .... at the range there are several AR's / AK's / H&K's / SKS's / Tactical Shotguns, and many bolt actions - and no 1 is scared. its like this mutual respect envelopes everyone around us. Then again, we mind our own business and leave peoples rights intact. We treat everyone as an equal and enjoy our time together. This unsupervised range I speak of has been around since the 1920's - and has yet to see 1 act of violence... Even though EVERYONE on range is armed.
Rock, actually there are many accidental shootings at gun show/swap meets. In fact one was a 10 year old firing a machine gun, were he accidentally shot himself in the head.
Why wasn't the parents charged with endangering a child for letting a 10 year fire a machine gun? If he was disciplined by spanking they would have been charged.
really mickey a machine gun??
FreedomOverSympathy
More proof that an armed society is a polite society.
@mickey6pack
Another urban legend?
@ micky6pack, one in a million million occurrence; sadly, accidents happen to decent people. This was not an intentional act of violence. You had a thought, let it go!
Another foreigner trolling with an agenda to disarm America.
Happy trolling!
No, not an urban legend. It happened in October, 2008 in Westfield, Mass. Only it wasn't a 10-year-old. It was an 8-year-old test firing a 9mm Micro Uzi at a gun show.
Dawgfan-4710266
Or we just shoot the breeze or shoot the sh*t.... ;-)
@ mickey6pack
No, sadly this is no urban legend.
Actually Mickey there are very, very few accidental shootings at shows and swap meets relative to the number of meets and the guns involved. And the incidence you are talking about involved a "SUB" machine gun and it was an 8 year old at a gun 'fair' on a range. Why there was no adult supporting the kid I will never know. His father was also a novice and let others tell him what to do. But then again that is the way it is in America, starting with the toys, everything is made "safe" so no one has to be responsible for themselves. I know one thing, before I'd let my kids do anything, I'd learn everything I could about it first. And do it for a while, become proficient, then I would show my kids, and not let some one else.
But that was the way I grew up and was taught. I was nine years old when I PURCHASED (yes with my own money) my first gun. But then again, I was brought up with them and taught how to treat them with respect. (I was also capable of operating heavy machinery too, being a farm kid)
And Frank is right, accidents happen and to decent people. How many kids drown each year, let's ban backyard pools,(you can still go to the city pool where they have "government" certified life guards), etc.
And I have to agree with Frank again, Happy Trolling..
Put all the gang-bangers in the country in one room and the last one standing gets a free pass.
Put all the gun freaks in one room and let them have at it.
J. Willard Marriott - they do... it's called a rod an gun club. Have them all over the country. We "have at it" and put lots and lots of holes in paper targets, share a bar-b-que with friends and family, and then go home after having a good time.
WHERE in the article did it mention Gang-Bangers were responsible for this??? Please do tell... You know what they say about ASSUMING....
JWillard gun freaks also go to gun shows and even when weapons there are unloaded and with a zip tie through the magazine well, I have never heard or read about a shooting inthere, have you?
Put all the bleeding heart libbies in a room until they starve with no conservatives around to feed them!
Rock, actually there are many accidental shootings at gun show/swap meets. In fact one was a 10 year old firing a machine gun, were he accidentally shot himself in the head.
Jvalen13, this is a great exaggeration! There are accidents at gun shows, just like there are accidents at car shows (I burned my tongue on a pizza at a Chicago Auto Show last year, \sarc!) Based on attendance, accidental shootings at gun shows are less than 1% of total attendance (look it up)! Not too bad considering....
The true gun "freaks" contrary to popular lefty beliefs does not want to kill anyone! You douche bag!!
>there are many accidental shootings at gun show/swap meets.
> In fact one was a 10 year old firing a machine gun, were he accidentally shot himself in the head.
False.. This was at a gun range where people were paying to fire a fully automatic firearm. The person running it told the father the child was too young to fire the weapon. The father insisted that the child be allowed to fire the gun. The gun got away from the child and he shot himself in the head. The child should not have been allowed to shoot the gun, but of course now the father is suing everyone he can.
I seriously don't think they were Boy Scouts, do you??? It was a reasonable assumption since NBC never gives too many facts after the headline.
NO!!! Not ANOTHER liberal anti-gun and possibly anti-American distorting the truth to make a point about why guns should be banned? I thought they were going to give us actual facts! I'm still waiting.....
Already did that... its called Chicago
Ive got a ten spot that says it was a group of want to be black rappers, anyone.
There's a really good movie with this premise. Don't remember everyone who was in it, but the ringleader was Ice-T.
lilmschargerfan, There is a vast difference between an assumption and a logically deduced conclusion.
George, you gun enthusiast love to use those car analogies. The fact is even though a small number of accidents happen at gun shows/Swap Meets they do happen. I was just replying to someone who said he never heard of them happening.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Jurors in the trial of a former police chief watched video Thursday of an 8-year-old boy accidentally shooting himself to death with an Uzi submachine gun at a 2008 gun fair, a sight that prompted a collective gasp in the courtroom.
The video, taken by the boy’s father, shows Christopher Bizilj, of Ashford, Conn., shooting the 9 mm micro Uzi when the front of the weapon kicks back toward his head and part of the boy’s skull appears to fly off.
Former Pelham, Mass., police Chief Edward Fleury, whose company co-sponsored the gun fair at the Westfield Sportsman’s Club, has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter and furnishing weapons to a minor. He’s on trial in Hampden Superior Court in Springfield.
The boy’s father, emergency room Dr. Charles Bizilj, testified Thursday that he videotaped Christopher with the micro Uzi, which jammed several times. He said he started and stopped videotaping several times as the gun jammed. At one point, he said he picked his camera up, looked toward the firing line and couldn’t see Christopher.
“Chris was not in the viewfinder,” Bizilj testified calmly with no visible signs of emotion. “Chris was on the ground. I ran over to him. His eyes were open. I saw no reason for him to be on the ground. I tried to talk to him. He didn’t respond. I put my hand behind his head to pick him up. … There was a large portion of his cranium missing.”
Bizilj said he gave medical attention to Christopher until paramedics arrived.
Some relatives began to cry during the testimony, and several left the courtroom. They declined to comment earlier in the day.
Dr. Bizilj said his two young sons were excited about the gun fair, which he had first heard about months earlier at a Labor Day party and in talks with friends.
“This was a big event,” Bizilj testified. “Christopher wore his special camo pants, camo shoes and a jacket with big pockets because he had been in the habit of collecting shells off the ground.”
Sounds like some A+ parenting. Maybe charge the father as well? I would be more concerned about the safety of my child firing a weapon, then being so concerned about the video he was trying to record.
If this is true then blame the parent, 8 years old is too young to shoot such a weapon! New gun laws (or any laws) won't protect us from stupid, they just infringe on the rights of good people!
@ Jvalen13,
Key word being "accidentally" not the intentional gun violence you're attempting to make it out to be by any stretch of the imagination. You had a thought, let it go! The same goes for the rest of your think tank members.
Another foreigner trolling with an agenda to disarm America.
Happy trolling!
We need more guns.
We need individual freedom which means we don't get to decide who gets more guns or less guns, even if we were so control-freakily inclined.
We need more guns.
I have plenty of guns. I need more ammo. All this new guns & ammo stimulus package that Hussein has put out, has the shelves empty.
we need less sanctimonious elitists like J.W.M!
M.K...
Sounds like you have this libtard pegged.
Ashley, typical lib who always wants other to protect them.
Ashley-69 - is for the rape and murder of women and children and the elderly. She wants to ban their right to protect themselves. How very sad.
Ashley 69. Doctors kill more people every year than firearms. Do we ban doctors?
Once again @ Ashley 69, #6.5,
Ashley, have you ever read the II Amendment? You've arbitrarily and improperly put the word "firearms," out of context in place of word "militia" as it is written in the II when you miss used the "WELL REGULATED" portion of the actual text (incidentally caps and italic only enhances your buffoonery). Furthermore, it's not the Bill of "Needs" as you and your ilk keep trying to imply it is. Once again, you've worn out another leg to stand upon.
Ashley, it is a well regulated militia not a well regulated right to bear arms in the Second Amendment.
"the car went out of control, striking four other vehicles and a taxi cab."
Last I heard, a taxi cab was also a vehicle.
???
Not in Vegas it's a slot machine! You put money in four wheels spin and it spits you out. Not nessessarly where you want or safely.
In Vegas, a taxicab is a whore.
I can't understand how the Range Rover got away? The strip is one of the most heavily protected tourist venues in the world!
90% of the strip cops are on bicycles.
It's not a venue, it's a roadway.
It's not a venue, its' a roadway.
filmsnob.... sorry chief, it is a venue, a tourist venue! I suppose you'd describe Disneyland as a town, lol!
incorrect.... the bicycle cops are the most visable and so are the police cars, there are also many plain clothes detectives and cameras everywhere. The bicycle cops are like public relations... chat with the tourists and crowd control for fenderbenders. Strip security is much, much more than bicycles, lol!
I think the boys in the Range Rover will be caught... if they haven't been yet!
I go to the Vegas every year for the last 5 years, been on the strip every time.. Was suppose to be down there this week for my birthday but we decided to postpone the trip til after this term of classes is over.
I stay a week every time I go.. I can tell you I have seen maybe a single cop car out of all 4 trips.. I have seen cops on bikes a handful of times.. Last year on my birthday my cousin and I were heading over to the Rivera because she had never been in that casino and we were intending on having a few drinks and playing slots. We walked past a group of men and came out to the group of men getting arrested and a guy down on the ground bleeding heavily.. We are from Potland and weren't even fazed by what we were looking at.. The next time we were walking past Riv we watched a group of rappers doing a video for a rap song.. We gawked and stared..
Vegas strip is fun but Fremont is a blast.. Fremont had the most cops on foot.. I love the street performers they are just a blast to watch..
Out of all the places I have been in the last year I would say Fremont and the strip, downtown Portand, and Seattle were awesome to watch street performers and artists peddling their items..
Calico Whispers, I like Fremont Street in downtown Vegas too! Last time we visited there were two live bands playing on either end of the Fremont St. Experience.... Three Dog Night at one end and the Turtles the other end! Didn't much notice any police presence, but never saw any problems either, just lots of fun!
The strip is one of the most heavily protected tourist venues in the world!
Not at 4:30am on a Thursday/Friday. Unless they are tourists or going to work the casinos....the strip isn't all that busy. I have lived there for 30years. Much more to Vegas than the strip for Metro to patrol with close to 2 million people.
Bill - The Range Rover got away because it happened at 4:30 a.m. on a cold Thursday. Even in Las Vegas, there isn't much traffic out at that time of day. Most late night partiers are back in their rooms by then and the early morning shift hasn't started yet. Besides, how many people are going to give chase to a vehicle that has just been showering bullets at another car?
Who thinks it was the Mob and/or Drug dealers. My vote is Mob!! 4:30 am......that's donut time for the cops there. I'll bet the shooter knew that!!
"Besides, how many people are going to give chase to a vehicle that has just been showering bullets at another car?"
This is precisely why armed or concealed/carry citizen rarely take down criminal gunman. Gun-owners constantly emphasize that they carry for SELF-protection ( who cares about the other guy ). Problem is, like the driver of the Maserati -- they are usually shot when they're not looking, so that concealed iron doesn't do them a bit of good.
Well...helps the economy, I guess.
If it doesn't do them a bit of good, then that's not helping the economy. If I'm not mistaken, that would be a broken window fallacy example.
uh oh better get maaco
Did someone gamble away the drug payment?
I'm going to say this was a hit. But foreign, because no American hitman would attempt such a thing in Vegas. Russian, most likely.
Interesting how these comments all interject their personal feeling about guns, racism, Las Vegas itself, etc. etc. Based on what limited facts we, the general public have, nothing is anything but assumption. Most of these comments are blatant attempts at trolling.
This is what I have considered at a likely scenario:
1. The Range Rover will have been found to have been purchased recently from a car dealership in Los Angeles. The owner will have paid in cash.
2. The purchaser will have given a phony name and address
3. The vehicle will turn up later, either purposely abandoned in a seedy part of Los Angeles, or set on fire in the desert.
4. The intended target is the key to this. The fact that this person was driving a Maserati would tend to lend credence that this was foreign in nature. Whether the car was rented or owned, it is generally not the first choice of Americans. Range Rover is also not the first choice, but is the first choice of Europeans.
Of course, this is all speculation but I can logically back up my assertions. And it is far more entertaining than watching political hacks call each other names like grade-school kids on the playground.
Anyone care to add something intelligent?
What we need is more guns, more than the estimated 310 million guns already in tha hands of the American public. That will stop the homicides by gunshot I see in the news all day, everyday.
Right Monty. And more restrictive gun laws will certainly keep guns out of the hands of gang-bangers and others who are willing to open fire in public places. Just look at how well that works in Chicago.
What a weak, straw-man argument. Of course Chicago's gun laws don't work - all you have to do is drive 20 minutes out of the city and you can readily buy a gun from many stores.
Your argument would have merit if the entire US had such restrictive laws. Until then, your argument is lacking in logic as well as merit.
Unfortunately, in this gun-crazed culture, we will never get any meaningful reform. So just sit back and get used to the fact that many innocent people are going to be killed by guns everyday. Far more will be killed by them than be saved by them, but the pro-gun lobby can't be bothered with such truths.
One final point - I am amazed at the prescience of the founding fathers in preserving our constitutional right to have very powerful firearms in our residences. I am certain they anticipated all the changes we have had since 1776 and drafted the Constitution with today's technology in mind. /sarcasm off.
Oh and CRB - I hope what happened to my neighbor doesn't happen to you. She was sitting at her job in a nice part of town when a disgruntled customer opened the door and blew her away with a handgun. She could have been armed to the teeth but unless she was sitting there aiming the gun at the door, it wouldn't have done her a damn bit of good. I had to go to pick up her jewelry and wash the blood off it before I returned it to her grieving husband. Maybe if someone you loved - spouse, child, sibling, parent - were killed, you might look at this issue differently. Or maybe if it was you, your survivors would look at it differently.
There is no way to stop this madness. Getting rid of guns is not the answer. Criminals will always find a way to get guns. They don't use registered weapons anyway. Stricter gun laws is not the answer. We will be so safe when everyone owning a gun has to pass a psychological exam. Goodness knows people never DEVELOP a mental illness.
What a weak, straw-man argument. Of course Chicago's gun laws don't work - all you have to do is drive 20 minutes out of the city and you can readily buy a gun from many stores.
Yeah, it's not their fault. If it weren't for those evil Straw Men, these little angels would be making straight "A" report cards, going to school dances & playing Monopoly with their parents.
Indiana Rick said: "So just sit back and get used to the fact that many innocent people are going to be killed by guns everyday. Far more will be killed by them than be saved by them, but the pro-gun lobby can't be bothered with such truths."
Yep, my gun just jumped out of the gun safe, loaded itself, and went on a shooting spree the other day. Good thing my trusty car was there to stop it before it actually hurt someone.
Why are you gun-banners so against people having guns to defend themselves?
"What a weak, straw-man argument. Of course Chicago's gun laws don't work - all you have to do is drive 20 minutes out of the city and you can readily buy a gun from many stores.
Your argument would have merit if the entire US had such restrictive laws. Until then, your argument is lacking in logic as well as merit."
You're right Indiana! If only we would ban guns like we do drugs then we would have no issues. As we all know, drugs(Non-Pharma) are illegal in the U.S. and therefore NO body uses illegal drugs.
I agree that getting a gun should be a little harder to obtain than they are now. However, I do not agree with any bans.
monty look at Washington with one of the most restrictive gun laws in this country, I dropped a man off at the bus stop and 2 blocks away there was a homicide. Gun control works, yea right. Also 5 years ago labeled as the murder capital of the United States.
Monty, that is because that is the ONLY side of the story that the MSM wants to preach to you. You think that they report ALL the news, accurately and completely? Do you think that most people read beyond the title before they pass judgment?
If they reported all the incidents where a person saved themselves, their family or a friend with their firearm, there would not be room for these sorts of stories. The choose not to though. Why? So people like you will side with the MINORITY of the people that feel inclined to choose HOW WHERE AND WHEN I can defend my family.
You folks like to use the "If it saves just one life" bull to justify taking guns away from us that we use to for that protection. You cite inaccurate and misleading facts and ALWAYS leave the positive aspects out of the story.
SINCE WHEN DOES "If it saves just one life" only apply to potential victims of crime. What about those that have SAVED MULTIPLE LIVES through the use of armed force. You tell those that have done that that THEIR families are not as important. That they should be willing to give up THEIR protection and DIE because YOU think that would be the "right thing to do." These people were potential victims of crime and are ALIVE because they could properly defend themselves.
"If it saves just one life" is such a bull crap line for gun control.
IndianaRick is right. All we need to do is find that magic wand, wave it about furiously, and POOF! All the guns will be gone, as will all the desire of anyone to do anything harmful to anyone else, thus eliminating the desire of anyone to even have a gun. Group hug.
@ Monty Money,
Another foreigner trolling with an agenda to disarm America!
Happy trolling!
Sadly Rick, the loss you've expressed experiencing is truly tragic, I respect your grief fettered opinion and mean you no disrespect with mine.
I am one of those who's been fortunate enough to not have experienced a gun related tragedy in my 50 plus years of life. I've been around guns all of my life and was a marksman boarding officer in the US Coast Guard; their motto is "Semper Paratus," "Always Ready." I have a gun and I've never had to use it beyond the firing range. I don't brandish it and or act differently when I often do carry it. None of the cowboy crap being spewed about in here, just preparedness.
Sadly, there was nothing anyone could do for your friend under the circumstances you described; for what its worth, I would have been proud to have taken the perp down as he was exiting the scene for you.
Gods Speed!
So, Indiana is what you are stating is that all of those gun crimes in Chicago are being committed by law abiding citizens who are just driving 20 minutes outside the city to buy guns legally? Well basically if they were law abiding citizens, they wouldn't go and purchase guns that they would be illegally bringing back to the city. By purchasing guns outside the city and bringing them back in they are BREAKING THE LAW. Do you know why criminals like the no questions asked gun buy backs? They are able to get rid of the most incriminating evidence against them and they get paid to do it. Then they just go out and buy another illegal gun and no matter what you do there will always be guns for criminals to buy. You can't undo technology no matter how much you might like to.
Really you don't think that they had no idea that eventually technology would bring bigger and better (for lack of a better word) weapons? Do you think that they didn't know the progression that got them to the point of the types of weapons that they had? You seem to think that they were too stupid to realize that weapons in the future will be more progressive than the weapons that they were using. They may not have envisioned exactly what we have but I am sure that they knew that 200+ years later that the weapons would not be anywhere near the same as what they had.
looks like they passed the background check for there guns ?????????????
Looks like you passed your third grade grammar class.
Uh oh, the grammar police! Get over it.
Let me guess.... Rapper aholes or Drug dealers. Just listen to the Vice president buy a shotgun and everything
will be just fine. How much more stupid is this country going to get?
The really scarey thing is that this idiot it one heartbeat away from the presidency!
Have you ever fired a shotgun? You don't even have to aim. Just point in general direction. Had a semi and traded it in for a shotgun.
Tony
The really scarey thing is that you believe what you say.
@betterthingsahead
"Have you ever fired a shotgun? You don't even have to aim. Just point in general direction. Had a semi and traded it in for a shotgun."
Obviously, you have never fired a shotgun. That is a very common, and very dangerous, misconception. Firearm ignoance like this can get you or someone else killed.
Grandpa,
The really, really scary thing is Tony's right.
You don't have to aim a shotgun? Which end does the shot come out of?
Yesterday, slick VP Joe said in an interview that he told his wife if she hears an intruder trying to break in to just take the shotgun and aim it at the wall and unload both barrels, that alone would make anyone turn and run. Unless of course they heard what he had said in the interview and the perp now knows his wife is scrambling to find more rounds and to reload; what a maroon.
Hope there was nothing they loved on the other side of the wall too. Don't fret too much Second Lady, it's probably just a secret service agent sneaking in to get some PB&J for him and his Columbian hookers.
Don't forget to fire both barrels into the air like uncle Joe recommends. Never mind it will get you arrested in most towns. :)
Joe Biden Is a super genius! A shotgun against homeland security's new youth corps armed with assault weapons and a billion rounds of hollow point bullets that are banned by the Geneva convention? Not too good for the person with the shotgun! No wait, maybe...oh yeah, hes just trying to make sure no one has the ability to oppose his and his boss'es political agenda. If only average Americans weren't as well armed as our military and weren't composed of thousands of well trained ex military men and women who are trained in the latest methods of military defense it would be so much easier to just disband congress and that other bunch of lunatics the senate and just make up and enforce any laws he and His Majesty Barack decide is relevant! Lets see now "If the congress and the Senate don't give me what I want I will wright an executive order and bypass the only people that have a right to make laws! I have the power! I am the King! After all the constitution was written by a bunch of ancient idiots who never knew anything about advanced military weaponry. Oh wait American citizens had better weapons at that time than the biggest and best army in the world at the time, didn't they! Assault weapons with more range and greater accuracy! Hmm.. The British took captured American citizens back to England with their Superior weapons to show the political leaders that they had better guns and knew better how to use them than the British army and that's why they lost the war. History is more important than mathematics in some cases, if you don't know anything about it you will have to live a "DO OVER" usually very expensive in human lives! They used to teach history in school, obviously most liberals didn't learn a thing from it and dismissed it as irrelevant. To bad, they are the ones with the most to lose because they and their pacifist ways are the first to be put away. America isn't impervious to take over by a dictator, even today. Any one who think's differently is an idiot! That's the purpose of the second amendment, defense against tyranny, it has nothing at all to do with hunting or home defense but because of a well armed citizenry, that by the way, is well armed because of the constitution, its a lot harder to do in America than it was in Germany under Obama? Oh wait I meant Hitler, see any similarities? Read up on Nazi Germany if you can read and actually comprehend, (difficult for a liberal who thinks the rest of us should share what we worked for with their lazy butts) you will see a closely followed script. Our "Elected" makes no secret of his disdain for the American constitution and his hatred for capitalism and the American flag. Of course it's much better to have free goodies that you take from the people that worked and earned them than have to work and have freedom!
lets not let a few bad apples spoil the bunch monty
Same people elected Obama.
For all who don't already know..Vegas has become a lousy town..thousands of gang members and multiple gangs..big money drug deals with all the nightlife..casinos cooperating to get the wealthy dealers to hang there, 100,000 illegal aliens, traffic is a joke, and the once famous strip, with low priced buffets and such..is long gone. It's a cross between LA and Chigago. At least when the mob ran it, there was little crime and most of the valley was horse ranches. No class, no deals, nothing for family, too hot outside in summer for kids. 42 years there..not a place to raise a family. The housing market is one floor below hell. It's not what you see in a movie.
I completely agree, oldiron. I used to run in the Las Vegas Marathon each year, get in some mid-winter golf with the kids, see a show with my husband - make it a fun family trip. But every year things were more expensive, people more trashy, service staff less friendly. When it started getting to the point we could have gone anywhere else and had a better time, we quit going. The scary part of this story, 4 or 5am is when we liked to get up, wander through the hotels/casinos, and get some breakfast before the crowds made it a chore.
As someone that lives in Las Vegas may I say, keep your whining butt out of town. You'll find that the perps in the Land Rover are from California. Wanna bet?
I agree. I heard on the news they were black, so, they were gang bangers. I bet they will
be caught in 2 days. I hope in a shoot out with lots of police.
Makes you long for the days of the mob. All the killings then were dumped in the desert. Kept the city cleaned up, you behaved or else you were buryed by them.
buried*
Yeah, and where did the money come from to rebuild the pyramids? Junk bonds!!
so true lav
Guns don't kill people.
It's those damn bullets....
im wondering why no word on who the passenger was in the mas.
You expect full reporting from MSNBC?
why do the innocent always pay the price... two guys burn to death stuck in a cab
ban taxi cabs!
Such acts should have a mandatory death penalty. It is an obvious choice that deserves harsh consequences.
Yeah, we'll show those killers. We'll kill 'em! Jesus what a hopelessly twisted screwed up pathological society.
Ban gang bangers
Can't do that. It would affect too many of the knee grows who put the chameleon-in-chief in office!
Ah yes, what an intelligent comment from another red-neck racist. You forget that a large number of people who are not black voted for our current president. Perhaps that is because the majority of our country disagrees with racists like you?
Ban gambling, yeah, that's the ticket. Along with banning guns, alcohol, drugs (non Pharma), dancing on sundays; these measures work, look at the success rate. SARCASM!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ban brown skin, black skin, white skin, cars, bullets, and ban anyone under 35 yrs old. Ban imported cars, imported people and imported oil. Ban exercise, music and the arts, books, and dresses that dont cover the knees. Ban driving after dark. Ban Banning!!!!!!!!!!!
idiotsruletheworld.................................................YOU MUST BE ONE OF THEM!
Obviously you can't read. Nor comprehend. I suggest you have a literate person read it to you and explain sarcasm!!
Yeah, you never hear about white guys on motorcycles doing this kind of thing in Nevada do ya.
Dumbazz.
@ idiotsrule, with all due respect, you rule! I'm still laughing....
Oh, wait, has laughing been banned?
TerryFromWeatherfordTX, you are suspended for a week for violating rule # 5 of the Code of Honor.
Don't make racist remarks, please.
A Maserati involved in a gunfight with an SUV on the Las Vegas Strip crashed into a taxi that that burst into flames, leaving three people dead and at least three injured early Thursday, police said.
