There is ALWAYS a fireMAN there within 3 minutes. Now take one minute and think about this. Would a female fireman have gone and rescued this woman from a strong man with a cleaver. I think not. For those of you in Southern California if you watched the news of the policeMEN going door to door searching for the cop murder Dorner, you did NOT see one (1) female policeMAN searching. In the ensuing gun battle where two policeMEN were shot, one more murdered there were NO female policeMEN. But women want to be allowed to go into combat. They state they pass the same standards. As the police and fire told the media years ago when women entered the departments. NOT TRUE. Standards were different, or lowered to allow the women in.

This morning Omambo-man said to congress that he will use executive orders to have all knives banned. And that he would stop at nothing to get more publicity to divert attention from his economic failings...

Did he have a license to have the meat cleaver? Who allowed the meat cleaver to be take from the kitchen? Why wasn't it locked up so innocent children & women couldn't be hurt by this weapon? How many other innocent people have been hurt by a meat cleaver? We should ban all meat cleavers larger than 2" by 2" so it never happens again!! My goodness someone start a Congressional investigation into this incident before it becomes an epidemic. Who cares how much it costs or if it sidelines Congress to investigate this, I mean people are being harmed by meat cleavers every day. Somebody has got to do something NOW!! Oh my goodness!! How ever did that meat-cleaver get out of the kitchen? Wasn't it locked up so that women and children would be safe from raving maniacs?? What are we doing as a society allowing meat-cleavers to be used outside the bounds of what they were intended to be used for. We need a SPECIAL committee to determine what is wrong and how to prevent this from ever happening again. Barrack you need to appoint the VP of the USA to head up the committee. Have Nancy sign a bill - never mind what it says - she can read it later. Have Congress declare that all meat-cleavers over the size of 2" by 2" may never be used unless a complete and thorough background check has been obtained on the user. Lock up all meat-cleavers NOW!! The Country is in dire danger! We can't let this happen again, our women and children depend upon us and our representatives in the House and Congress to ensure their safety from this type of atrocity. Who is responsible for this happening in our city? Who allowed the meat-cleaver to be that large and sharp? We need answers and action NOW. Do something even if it's wrong - we need to do something NOW!! Money is no object - the needs of the one are greater than te needs of the many - forget the other things you were attending to, they are not important. Take a vacation so that you can clear your minds and come back with a fresh perspective on how to handle these issues. Just Do It!!!

It is funny that the anti-gun folks who post on these threads think it is somehow different when someone is hacked with a cleaver rather than shot with a gun. What is the difference? This guy could have easily killed the woman with a meat cleaver. He didn't try to kill her or she would be dead.

There were a couple posts about solutions. I'll post mine again for those who want an anti gun control supporter's thoughts on a solution.

1. If you have a mentally ill or mentally retarded person living in your house, you will no long be allowed to keep a gun in the same building. You can own guns, but you must store them outside of the home. This will limit access by those who shouldn't have it, and would have made the Sandy Hook School shooting impossible.

2. Mental health care professionals MUST report any person they treat if that person shows signs of mental distress and tell the mental health care professional they feel like hurting people.

3. Advertise! With the support network TV give politicians on gun control, the networks should be happy to provide free air time on all their stations whether they be TV or radio. Run ads about gun safety, mental health care and violence awareness. Make it mandatory that all networks run one ad per hour at no cost to taxpayers. Ask victims to volunteer their time for these public service ads. Focus on violence and violent behavior and leave guns out of it. Violence and mental illness are a major factor.

4. Enforce the laws we already have. The government is not doing a good job enforcing current laws, and the result is violence that could be prevented. Close the loopholes. Track people who are out buying 2 or 3 guns a day. What are they doing with them? Not all of it will be prevented, but some will. Every little bit helps.

5. Use the resources we have to get some guns off the street. Go into high crime areas and get the guns out of there. Parolees and other convicted criminals have signed contracts to allow law enforcement to search at any time. Enlist the ranks of all these new Homeland security officers. They are trained in law enforcement and gun violence is a matter of homeland security.

There are 5 things that will do way more to curb gun violence and violence in general than passing laws that only aim to place more burden on people who will likely never use a gun to commit a crime. Actually, even one of these ideas will do more than anything being proposed. It will work and will not cost hardly anything to accomplish.

Go NYFD! My heroes! Firefighters are awesome. It is so great to know people still care about people, this is how it is suppose to be - thank you for reminding the world that we are to love and care for one another. Stop all this hatred, killing and hurting, share the love!
