A California beauty queen has claimed she was a potential victim of a man charged with raping a woman he met on a Christian dating website.
Sean Banks, 37, of Del Mar, is accused of raping a woman he met through ChristianMingle.com in November.
And now, a contestant in the Miss California 2012 pageant claims Banks threatened her while out on bail.
"He was aware that I had evidence and he started intimidating me from that point not to talk to police," Victoria Kinney said.
Banks faces a number of charges including rape by force, digital penetration by force and residential burglary in connection with an alleged attack in La Mesa more than three months ago.
In that case, a La Mesa woman told police Banks arrived at her home on Nov. 12, was sexually aggressive toward her and ultimately raped her. Banks was arrested by La Mesa police on Feb. 11.
"This woman is alleging that he pushed the boundaries and attempted to have sexual intercourse with her against her will. We think when you see all the facts that will prove not to be the case," said defense attorney Gretchen von Helms.
Banks, a graduate student of Pepperdine University and a former lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, appeared in an El Cajon courtroom Friday to face two additional criminal charges.
One of the charges involves a date rape allegation from 2009 and the second charge involved dissuading a witness, or threatening a witness not to talk with police.
Kinney, Miss Irvine-Orangewood in the 2012 Miss California pageant, said she met Banks through the ChristianMingle website.
Banks used an alias in their communication, said Kinney's attorney, Daniel Gilleon.
Investigators said Banks has been known to use several aliases online including Rarity, Rylan, Rylan Butterwood and Rylan Harbough.
'Didn't listen to my instincts'
The beauty queen said Banks was very charming at first but then he made comments that she took as threats.
"I didn’t listen to my instincts," she said. "In those instances and looking back, I absolutely should have."
"We discussed meeting for lunch when I returned and when I returned, he called me to let me know he had been arrested for rape," she added.

Gilleon said his client was terrified, but wanted to testify about her experience to support other possible victims.
"She’s a Christian woman. She believes it’s her duty at this point to come forward, share her story generally and ask other women to come forward," Gilleon said.
He said the comments made by Banks to Kinney were "clearly threats."
As a result, Judge Charles Ervin approved on Friday a protective order banning Banks from having contact or getting within 100 yards of Kinney.
Banks was taken into custody on a "no bail request" on the new charges even though he had posted $500,000 bail on his previous charges.
Judge Ervin called it a unique request and told defense attorneys he had never seen the situation in 25 to 30 years.
Von Helms said she and her co-counsel Jan Ronis had no time to review the additional charges and asked for a bail review early next week.
"Anyone would feel terrible about these types of allegations and he certainly does," Von Helms said of Banks.
"This young man -- he’s a Ph.D. candidate. He’s a college graduate. He served in the military. There are a lot of good factors about him that will come to light as we proceed in this case," she said.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 26.

WWJR???
Who would Jesus Rape??
I don't know if jesus ever raped anybody but, his followers....that is a different story altogether!
"Digital penetration by force?" Whhaaatttt?
Never trust a Christian....
Well, I guess you all are psychic or have read a version of the story that others don't see. I can't find anywhere in the story where Banks claims to be a christian. Nor do I see anywhere where the author claims banks is a christian. The only reference to who may be a christian is the accuser. So, never trust a christian?
Let the man go! his accuser is a christian...Never trust a christian! ...Because these haters say so.
Wow! Reading comprehension in this country has become a @!$%#ing joke!
NOBODY on this entire page has defended this @!$%#!
They(we) have been trashing the "christian" dating website and the naive prey and greasy predators that would frequent such nonsense.
"Wow! Reading comprehension in this country has become a @!$%#ing joke!"
..And you have illustrated that quite succinctly with your follow up comment.
You have ASSumed that the "greasy predator" was a christian, when in fact, you didn't comprehend that the article never mentions his religious leanings.
The educated veteran knows just how to rape the system. He is so nice to everyone while thinking exactly what type of terror he will put them through. THIS IS NOT HIS FIRST TASTE OF TERRORIZING PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY WOMEN. The fear any woman has regarding rape is enough to stop them from testifying because of future attacks. Keep his as* in jail, let the gang bangers show him how it feels to be raped REPEATEDLY, and then allow him to spend the next 50 years "getting over his fears". Scum like this does not belong in society. We should look at his military records and the places he served to ascertain if he was responsible for rapes at those locations, if there were a full and thorough investigation we would find that he has been doing this for a very long time. Christian Mingle is the "perfect" place to troll for victims, anyone that desperate to "meet " people usually are afraid of their own shadow.
Sadly, American, evangelical "Christianity" has nothing to do with Christianity.
He is a christian like the preacher with his hand out is a christian or like the business owner that covers his business in religious symbols is a christian.
Con men.
now listen up guys
the dating site says in its advertisement that all are screened and there is a match for everyone on the site and it is completely safe
now we all know that good christians tell the truth so these reporters are making up stories to sell
"He is a christian" ...because you said so? He didn't claim to be one and the author didn't say he was one.
That would be "comprehension". You have assumed and opined that he is a christian...That is not part of comprehension.
I will do the same..., You are a christian, because I said so, you didn't say you are one, but I just decided you are. Sorry livinginthewoods, you can deny it all you want, but you are now a christian...
I certainly didn't comprehend from reading the article that the accused was a christian. That information was not presented. He may very well be, but at this point in your "vast" knowledge of Banks, you don't know that information.
I'm confused, why is she on a dating sight to begin with? I would like to know what is wrong with her that she feels she has to go on a dating sight to find someone to date. I have always met people through friends, co workers, and the like. Never had to use a dating service to have someone or computer find a match for me and she is prettier then I am.
I have no problem being called a christian. I actually like most of what Jesus said. It's all the other clowns that claim he is the son of some god that I have a problem with.
" I enjoy raping women" probably wasn't written in his profile for Christian mingle :(
Livinginthewoods, dorkwadd, et, al, your stereotyping betrays your ignorance. You sound like people who say all black people are lazy welfare leeches, or Mexican men only want a white woman. And liking what Jesus said is a far cry from following him. We who do know that truly following him is tremendously difficult while living in a world that hates him and what he stands for. If you want to live with your head in the sand comfortable in your hatred and ignorance, that is I suppose your prerogative, but you sound so silly...
livinginthewoods,
Why would you want to be called a "Christian", why He claimed to be God which you don't believe? I guess that is just some of the things that Jesus said that you don't like? Jesus is who he said he is or he's a liar. Either Jesus died for man's sins and God raised him to life or we Christians have no hope and most miserable, but we are not. Our hope resides in our risen Savior.
@ Living in the woods
You may be called a Christian, by who and why I have no idea. The term Christian means a believer in, and follower of Christ. That belief is based on and founded in the resurrection of Christ, after He was crucified by the Romans. From your post, you appear to believe that Christ arose from the dead after three days in the tomb, but that he was not the only begotten Son of the Living God. After four days in the tomb, Lazurus was brought back to life by Jesus. Christians know this to be true, sane people know a mortal man could not do these acts. Christians know Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, and also, the Bible tells us so. I am glad that you had a "favorable" JUDGEMENT OF JESUS CHRIST. Maybe his Father can do the same for you someday.
Well, judging from the comments here, there's really no need for a trial and putting the alleged victim under cross-examination is there? Let's just go ahead an put this guy in prison and save the tax-payers some money. If any of you actually worked within the criminal justice system, you would know that there are as many false allegations of rape as there are true allegations. Until this matter is played out in the courts, it might be best to just reserve judgment. That would, after all, be the "Christian" thing to do.
The point to such a website is that it's supposed to be a safe place for Christian adults to meet and date one another. They share values and interests. There's nothing wrong with that. This POS was taking advantage of that to act out his violent fantasies on women. Such violence is, by definition, not Christian, which, as far as I'm concerned, makes him, not a Christian.
Yeah, I'm sure Christian women looking for Christian men routinely get paired up with Muslim and Buddhist guys by Christian matchmaking websites. Probably happens all the time.
What's wrong with you, Brenda? You're still single. Some of us would rather not do the bar scene or have a bunch of drama around friends.
Make no mistake:
The only reason NBC News has this story as a front page headline is to impugn all Christians by association and forward their atheist anti-Christian agenda.
I'm confused, what happened to innocent until proven guilty?
Oh that's right, when it's a rape allegations, men are automatically guilty and don't deserve a benefit of the doubt. Everybody goes on about 'creeps' and 'pyschos' on dating sites that just want to hurt people, did none of you stop to think that for all you know she's the crazy? I'm not saying she is or that he's innocent, I'm just saying that when it's a rape accusation you all refuse to stop and think that maybe everything isn't what the 'victim' says it is.
Case in point, the story not to long ago about the chick who killed the mormon guy in the shower. If she had caught him in any other room in the house and had not gone overboard with her means of murder you all would have been all for his death as her right.
So don't just jump to conclusions because the supposed crime is emotions catcher.
Clearly since he's been in the military he can't be a rapist (extreme sarcasm).
Nobody in the military ever rapes anyone......
This young man -- he’s a Ph.D. candidate. He’s a college graduate. He served in the military. There are a lot of good factors about him that will come to light as we proceed in this case," she said.
None of these qualities take away the mentality that this man may be a rapist.
And what are you people talking about? Christianity? A Christian Dating Site? I don't think so. There is no such thing as a Christian Dating Site and how dare you people come here and reference this as being that of Christian.
Christian = THIS and nothing less; Christ like. Saved by the Blood of Jesus Christ. Being baptised by Faith and washed in the Blood. Accepting that Jesus is the Son of God , sent here to die for our sins saving us from a God that considers us Unsaveable.
If you do not believe that Jesus, I Am the Alpha and the Omegga the beginning and the end is the son of God in the flesh. If you do not believe that the Savior has already made his first appearance. If you believe that Jesus was a great man and he died. Then You Are Not a Christian Period.
There most certainly is a Christian dating site - Christianmingle.com. It's advertised on television as a site where Christians can meet to fall in love. Maybe you can go on there and meet another religious zealot such as yourself.
and a large portion of hate-spewing , mammon-worshiping (primarily evangelical) "christians" simply think that they have their "get out of (the non-existent) hell" free card, and proceed to act worse than anyone else.
the Quakers and Amish have got it right, worry about your own souls (if such should exist), keep religion and government separate (they have had plenty of experience with "christian, protestant governments", and not in a good way), and do no harm to others
ChristianMingle? She should have known better than to trust any Christian. All that pent-up sexual frustration and hatred of your fellow man..
Riiggghhhtt wrote: "You have ASSumed that the "greasy predator" was a christian, when in fact, you didn't comprehend that the article never mentions his religious leanings."
If I were to write a letter to him I'd start it off "Dear Christian apologist, AKA, stupid:"
"When a person is accused of molesting people during their time as a priest in the catholic church it is assumed that they are a christian person as they have donned a collar and perform the job of a priest; this is a NORMAL assumption and common sense.
Similarly, when a woman gets raped by a man she met on CHRISTIANMINGLE. com it is also assumed that both parties are christians as they have indicated themselves such by using the CHRISTIAN dating site (which advertises as a way for CHRISTIANS to meet other CHRISTIANS) so for you, the creeping dumb, to continue to act like an assumption of his religion is somehow unfair due to being unverified by the accused is the same as saying you're in the intellectual company of the primitive fossil lifeform discovered recently in China. It's common sense and even if it isn't true that he's a christian, any normal person must forgive the assumption as a common sense deduction from the fact of using the christian website."
.....but of course I won't bother writing that since everything I would put in it would be pretty obvious comments that everyone is already thinking.
Christian, Athiest, Muslim, Agnostic....who gives a crap. Rape is rape. The fact that this happened from a Christian website makes it NO different than if it had been from another site like eharmony or any other dating service. What's truly pathetic are those that want to sneer and point fingers that it just so happens to be religious or that we don't know if he was religious or not. His religion or lack of any has no bearing on the fact that he raped someone. Those that are sexual predators don't need affiliations, they will stalk anyone at any time using any means. Get over the fact that it is a religious dating service that he used. The fact that some people are stuck on that point and use it to both decry and gleefully mock it, take away from the true crime that actually occurred.
jake2247~ When you point a finger you need to realize you have three pointing back at you. "known better than to trust any Christian..." maybe you need to look at the hate in your own heart before you try to condemn and belittle them.
He just went for the easy targets. Gullible, weak minded fish in a barrel. (if he is indeed guilty)
Oh yes, when Christians mingle. He'll probably call Todd Aikens as a witness.
What's wrong with you. I never said I was single or that I go to bars. I said I have good friends and meet people through them. Oh, by the way, that was how I met my husband. If you have drama with your friends then you have bigger issues then dating, because you seem to pick the wrong people to call friends. With a name like Anrkist, sounds like you look for drama.
GBaby, you have made a false assumption based on the fact that the perpetrator happened to use a christian dating site to find a victim. You have read something in to a story that does not exist.
Additionally, you have assumed I am a man, you have also assumed I am a christian or christian apologist. and you have thrown some name calling in there too.
Putting on a collar and calling oneself a priest is a far cry from a predator affiliating with a dating site to find a victim. You and "everyone" you have taken the opportunity to speak for, are jumping to conclusions that was not part of the written story. The only person in the story that was identified as a christian was an accuser. I suspect that the accused would identify as a christian, but that information was not given to me or to anyone that read and comprehended the article.
I have also made the assumption that you have a mouse in your pocket because you have taken the opportunity to speak for "everyone". I am assuming "everyone" is you and that mouse. Why would you put a mouse in your pocket? What is the point of that? Personally, I, and "everyone else" thinks you must be unstable to carry a mouse in your pocket. ..(this is an illustration of the stupidity and arrogance of making assumptions. I am not truly calling you unstable)
WOW. I don't know if this guy was christian or not, but it appears many people here are. And super judgmental.
Fact is, just because he is accused does not mean that he is guilty. I recall having "hooked up" with a "Christian" girl, who, asked me to meet with her in her bed room, got in the bed with me, started making out, got a little heavier, then excused herself, got up and left.
Later on, I found out that she ran around telling everyone that I tried to rape her. There was no point in time, ever, that I forcefully or otherwise did anything that she said she was uncomfortable with.
Don't get me wrong. Rape happens and it's a terrible crime, but sometimes people are accused of it and it's equally as devastating to be accused of.
Let's wait for the facts to come out before assigning judgement.
What say you Christians?
Exactly, stick with your God-given instincts like believing some guy built a wooden boat the size of an aircraft carrier and a mating pair of every animal species on Earth just strolled on for a 40 day cruise.
You know, sensible stuff like that.
Careful buddy, pointing out 'tales' like this one will bring out the christian right...
She could have followed the republican side of this.. "Legitimate Rape is okay" god said so
Which Republican said, "legitimate rape is okay, god said so." Surely you wouldn't make up such a wild tale and post it, if is isn't true.
If you can't give a reliable reference then you are just an ignorant troll like WilliamOfRites.
Zheng He
Richard Mourdock, who sabotaged his campaign after suggesting that pregnancies, even in cases of rape are “something God intended to happen.”
I suggest you pay attention to current affairs as it's NOT A WILD Tale.
P.S. Why don't you go to Paul Ryan and ask him how he feels about giving RAPIST Parental rights?
It does not matter what site you are on there is always a few trying to take advantage of someone. The new catfishing case also takes it to a new level where the person could actually be made up or the same sex playing a game. Despiration breeds vulnerability.
Let the court sort this out and slam him if guilty as a message to others...........
How gullible must one be to think that predators would not be on a dating site with the word 'christian' in it?
You'd have to be a beauty queen to be that naive.
Anywhere you have "christians" there will be predators waiting to take advantage of the weakminded and the naive(two traits that go hand in hand with religion).
A really cool experiment would be to go these church dating groups and youth groups and find out how many of the male members are ex-convicts. I would be willing to bet that the % would be at least 25%. At least in big prison states like TX & CA. Whatever the percentage, I can promise you that the sheep would be freaked the @!$%# out to learn just how many wolves were among them.
Annie, a big AMEN. People set themselves up on dating sites, Facebook, Craigslist, whatever, and are basically saying, "Here I am, come and get me". You might as well walk down a dark street at night in a tough neighborhood holding a wad of money in your hand up over your head.
Disgusting remarks from some whom apparently ARE constantly concerned as to where they will spend eternity with other non-believers. Making a joke about it makes one feel good about the choice they have made.
Nobody seems to have been joking here and there is no "choice" you either know the difference between fiction/myth and reality or you do not.
I would say, it is in fact the faithful, that have made a "choice" to deny what all evidence around them confirms and that is that all religious mythologies are wrong on many counts and that if there is some sort of god/gods/creator, it is probably nothing like any man has ever imagined.
Existence, life, death, all that "meaning of life type stuff" is a mystery and may always be. There are no easy answers and any one who is trying to sell you one, is a con man and a liar.
All I know for sure is that I do not intend to live the only life that (I know of) I'll be getting, having every moment revolve around the day I die.
That's just me though, do with it what you will.
Too funny! Weak minded and naive? Predators are every where in every walk of life, only the weak minded and naive would be so foolish and bigoted as to categorizing all people in one group as X and by association put themselves into a false sense of security. Predators come in all shapes and sizes. Some seek out every opportunity to spew venom at anything pertaining to God.
FWIW the story of Noah never said the animals were full grown, for starters, not to mention it's part of a much lager book trying to make a point using individual events to paint a Mosaic.
(Livinginthewoods snickers and rolls eyes like a know-it-all prick)
:kicks livinginthewoods and the people that hate Christianity in their genitals for their stupidity, narrow-mindedness, immaturity, and judgmental, hypocritical, arrogant, and elitist behavior and for promoting stereotypes. Now that I have silenced the peanut brain gallery and thus rendered them unable to reproduce, I have some things to say about this issue. The website failed this woman and the woman failed to learn common sense from this issue. However, this does NOT mean that you all who want to make fun of Christians have a carte blanche to make fun of the lady for her poor decision, nor do you have the right to assume that every ex-convict that has made their lives right with Yahweh, Yeshua, and the Holy Spirit/Ghost is just another con artist. From what has been shown of YOUR attitudes, I would deduce that you are just as equally, if not even more, guilty of playing your OWN con games with the public and that you would be willing to still look down on people because of your own arrogance and elitism and such behaviors will ALWAYS lead to people like the one who tried to rape this lady. Of course, arrogant people such as yourselves who think that they know everything actually know far fewer things than this lady and you make Patrick Star seem like a MENSA member by comparison. Now go politely learn to get some more brain cells and rethink your attitudes, learn to be nicer and more compassionate to people, and learn to get some empathy for your fellow human beings, or learn to play in front of traffic, learn to cut yourselves and throw yourselves into the ocean near a school of sharks and become the main course for their feeding frenzy, or learn to go free base jumping into the Grand Canyon without a parachute. Thank you.
NBC News is cheerleading this story in order to malign all Christians by association (with a person Christians would universally REJECT), and forward to their atheist anti-Christian agenda.
The "woods P" is back, still trolling away with no substance. What a joke.........
WELL...stop the presses!!! This is history. NEVER before has there ever been a predator on a dating web site. I wonder, if there is such a thing, would this make MSN news if it was an African American or Gay or athiest dating website?
Hmm, so maybe this was God's plan for her?
thus, delusionteller proves his obsession with genitals and reproduction as well as proving his own arrogance, judgemental attitude, hypocrisy, elitism, and stereotyping. in other words proves that he is everything he claims others to be.
project much, delusionteller?
also sounds like a closet gay to me. (not that I actually care what YOU do with your genitals, but clearly YOU are utterly obsessed with what others do with THEIR genitals when it is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. you just hide behind the skirts of what you claim is "god" and yip like a rabid chihuahua
"anti-christian agenda", hmmm?
what needs to be fought against is the "religious litmus tests" promoted by the "christian"right, a concept that would horrify the Quakers that originally came here to flee religious persecution, and still hold that government and religion should be SEPERATE. after all they have had previous experience with "christian" governments.
If we go by the bible. Rape is ok, but only if shes not engaged to be married.
All this guy has to do is pay her father 50 silver sheckles and marry her. Problem solved and all is right in the eyes of god.
Now on the other hand, if she is engaged, that's a problem... for them both. They are to be brought out from the gates of the city and stoned to death. Can't have another guy with his business in your property, you know.
Ref.
and if she's married or engaged:
So if she's single, no problem. Bible says so.
Bill OfWrongs....
You do realize that religion is about faith, right? But most importantly why are you on a religious kick? She didn't say God-given instincts, you did.
He can't help himself. He sees "Christian" and has to drool and begin to insult people through his keyboard. Part Pavlovian, part low self-esteem I would guess.
Well I didn't say "Christian dating site", the article did.
OK sure, believing some invisible sky fairy will listen to your problems is such an indicator of "high esteem".
I graduated from Lexington Christian Academy in Massachusetts.
What exactly are your credentials concerning knowledge of religion??
WilliamOfRites : Must have been a fine school to teach that someone built a boat the size of an aircraft carrier out of wood, blah, blah, blah! Exaggerate much? You seem very troubled.
In general, those who must demean others do so because it counters their own sense of worthlessness. It is the driving force behind neonaazis, the KKK, etc.
So maybe you have another need you are feeding by demeaning others . . .
How is it demeaning to point out that belief in fairy tales is a form of mental illness?
What would any of you think of a grown man who adamantly believed in santa clause or the easter bunny contrary to all evidence and reality? That is exactly how the "faithful" look to the rest of us, foolish, naive, and willfully ignorant.
Grow up and pull your heads out of your asses!!
Zheng He
This is the 2nd post (The 1st being the Mourdock one) where your incredible ignorance shines through.
You are also conveniently I suppose, omitting your qualifications to speak with authority on matters of religion.
I was wondering the same thing. Why would someone, who is obviously so ignorant of christianity, continuously and so adamantly defend it?
livinginthewoods: It's cute (& ironic) how you're trying to convert the people of faith on this thread to your way of thinking. Misery loves company, I guess - especially when all alone in the woods.
Why would someone so ignorant of Christianity be so adamant against it? Being an open minded person such as I am I decided once to read the book (NKJV) and give it a chance. With an open mind I ended up reading it straight through 7 times in 3 years. I did that while reading several history books.
I'm just assuming but I suppose your familiar with the book your so above. I wonder if speaking of the ark if you noticed another vessel in the book built for a similar purpose? Trust me when I say I could go on in this train of thought for a very long time. How about all those people who wore those colorful robes (yes there were many). I really do live in the woods, your giving those who do a bad name.
Let me add this, I find it amazing how with the breath God gave man, man is so blinded by hate he curses God claiming no proof of God and never contemplating where he got the breath to do it. That's the epitome of weak minded, just a dog chasing it's own tail. Ever wonder why God made dogs to chase their own tails, and people watch it?
See post #2.11
I feel sad for the folks who can only believe in what they can see and touch and replicate. They miss out on so much. Even Einstein knew there was much more to the universe than meets the eyes.
Glad to know you are 'educated' William- too bad it doesn't show.
No.
Yes, my posts of verifiable facts and actual private education directly related to our topic discussions versus a bunch of "feelings" and "faith" with absolutely no correlatable evidence and often mired in self-righteous hypocrisy really shows who has a handle on reality and a personality with self-esteem and virtue.
Sure.
I'll contend that Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny have brought more joy and happiness to world than WOR or livingthewoods ever have.
James - religion details the structure of worship and a component of that worship is a person's ability to apply or exercise their faith. Faith is not a religion . . . faith is a human energy emanating from the brain.
Execute the apostate Sean Banks.
This young man -- he’s a Ph.D. candidate. He’s a college graduate. He served in the military. There are a lot of good factors about him that will come to light as we proceed in this case.
Bahahahaha.
And Ted Bundy was an honors student. Bahahaha.
If anything, his extensive education is just more evidence that he should have known better and shows that mental health was not an issue in his actions. He is a cold calculating predator that should be put down!
O.K............. sooo........... aside from the rape, witness intimidation, burglary ,ect. ,ect., ect. ..... He's a real peach???
Yeah, nobody in the military ever rapes anyone.....
Predators will take on whatever appearance they feel they need to in order to get through the door. Just because someone says they are a Christian doesn't mean that they are. There have even been cases where a rapist gained entrance by claiming to be a plumber, meter reader, even a policeman. And remember, there have been predators who joined various groups under false pretenses just so that they would have access to their preferred type of victims.
Yeah, apart from that rape thing he's totally a great guy.
Whenever anyone says to me -- you can trust me, I'm a Christian -- up comes the red flag saying watch out -- this clown will screw you over any way he can!!
charlie, you hit the nail on the head. when a person hands me a business card or anything with the fish on it. it is a warning it is ok to screw anybody because they are christian. or with the fish on the car. they are the biggest racsit and pervs on the planet but it's ok cause they are christian.
Haha! Yes! I thought I was the only one who refused to do business with anyone who has that stupid fish on their signage! Proselytizing hypocrites will not get my business! I don't care what religion you are, keep that @!$%# out of the professional world.
Only if there is "Darwin" in the fish and it's swimming the opposite way!
And as soon as someone tells you, "I'm an atheist," up comes the red flag saying, "I am a jackass who will take any opportunity to discriminate against an entire faith." I don't have a problem with atheists. Just the ones who boast about it and try to put down Christians every chance they get.
"And as soon as someone tells you, "I'm an atheist," up comes the red flag saying, "I am a jackass who will take any opportunity to discriminate against an entire faith.""
I can't recall anyone saying to me I'm an atheist" except when the discussion is about religion. However, the "you can trust me I'm a Christian" comes up in non religious discussions and that's when the red flag goes up. It's a lot like someone beginning a conversation about race by saying "I'm not a racist --- but . If you have to tell the world you're honest --- you're probably not.
And for the record -- we have a whole lot more discrimination against atheist in this nation than we have against self proclaimed Christians.
Really? Could have fooled me.
That's only this page up to this point...
Right back at you - I've never heard anyone say, "You can trust me, I'm a Christian," either. BTW - Why do you think Christians are racist, when a very large chunk of them are black or other minorities?
There is really something wrong here! As she states, he tried to rape her back a couple years ago. But fended of his advances! Right?
Then she meets him for luch where he told her not to talk to police about the incident......... Right?
So is she so fricken stupid that she goes to meet this guy that TRIED to rape her and raped others and she knew about all of them and was going to support the rape victim's in court................
Ah, this story is not even right and that beauty Queen is too stupid to even be a human!
Now his lawyers are trying to say he's an educated, Navy officer like they wouldn't do anything like that! Ahhhhhh stupid statement there, as anyone is capible of rape and being preverted......
Oh to those STUPID's that ask what Republican Senators and politcans made the statemen about legitimate rape, How about TODD AKINS, one from Georgia and Indiana for a start! Your as stupid as this beauty queen!
Todd Akins said, "legitimate rape is okay, god said so." Are you positive? Give me the reference & I will post on here that I admit to being stupid. I'm not a member of any Christian group; right, left, center or otherwise. I just don't believe Todd Akins or any other politician made that statement. I think only those that are confused and troubled with their own self worth would make up and post such a ridiculous statement and say someone else made it.
Zheng He, get your head out of your ass!! That was all over the news last year during the presidential race.
Akin turned heads with a comment on a Missouri television station, where he professed that "legitimate rape" victims rarely get pregnant. "The female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down,"Akin added.
Paul Ryan gave an interview in which, defending his position that there should be no excuses for abortion, he referred to rape as a "method of conception."
Senate candidate Richard Mourdock, an Indiana Republican, turned a few heads and dropped a few jaws on Tuesday night when he said that pregnancies resulting from rape were "something that God intended to happen." It happened during a debate between Mourdock and his opponent, Democratic Congressman Joe Donnelly and did not go unnoticed.
Murddock and Akin lost their election bids!! Watch the news on TV and read the papers. Kind of difficult to do that with your head up your ass that you did not know these comments created quite a controversy. Even Mitt Romney distanced himself from these candidates and stopped endorsing them.
On Thursday, the Georgia Republican didn’t heed that advice, telling a localChamber of Commerce breakfast that Akin was “partially right” when he said last year that a woman can stop herself from getting pregnant.
“We tell infertile couples all the time that are having trouble conceiving because of the woman not ovulating, ‘Just relax. Drink a glass of wine. And don’t be so tense and uptight because all that adrenaline can cause you not to ovulate,’” Gingrey said.
He also said that Akin’s definition of a “non-legitimate rape” could be “a scared-to-death 15-year-old that becomes impregnated by her boyfriend and then has to tell her parents.”
The comments were reported by the Marietta Daily Journal. Gingrey later said that he wasn’t trying to defend remarks by Akin or Indiana Senate candidate Richard Mourdock, and that his position was misconstrued “in my attempt to provide context as to what I presumed they meant
Zheng He, we are still waiting for you to follow through with your words saying you would admit you were stupid if we posted the comments. You do know how to Google, right? Perhaps now is a good time to learn so you can see how many websites and articles come up with the comments made by these ignorant men.
Wayne,
Get some more coffee and reread the story please.
Wayne, better yet, get a book on English grammar. Your arguments will get a better reception once you get rid of some of your errors.
The congressman from Georgia referenced above is Phil Gingrey, the finest piece of work the Modern South has produced, save Paul Broun. He runs unopposed. He is evil (and, of course, he is xtian).
THe whole legitimate rape theory: if it is really rape, a woman does not get preggers. Hence, that is a legitimate rape - with no charges. Any pregnancy that happens MUST happen because the woman really really wanted it - so no abortion, thank you. That's all these chauvinists are saying. Some of this has to do with the need to increase the white population by any means. Some of it has to do with silly xtian teachings. All of it has to do with a complete lack of scientific education, which the South tries to squelch any way it can.
Wayne - two women. One was raped. The beauty queen is claiming she was a potential victim, therefore not the original victim. He threatened her, attempting to intimidate her to not come forward with the evidence. That's what the story is about.
Debra,
I read that! But she stated he tried to and failed! So why would she go to lunch with him the other day? Reread it, as it states she met him for lunch and he threatened her there!
Stupid woman to even show up to lunch with him after the fact! Don't you think? Would you go to lunch with someone you knew tried to rape you before? This happened after he was out on bail.
@Raised by wolves, you got your head up your butt, as there is nothing wrong with my English grammar. Go make sure your right with your own.
@Zheng He, I'm also waiting to hear you say your stupid!
Todd Akins said , (from Google)
“If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down," he said. "But let's assume that maybe that didn't work or something. I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist and not attacking the child."
Todd Aikens did not say, "legitimate rape is okay, god said so." This is what you guys claim he said, but he did not! So, I'm not stupid!
Also, an aircraft carrier is over 1000 ft long, not 450 ft.
Bwahahha!!! You are the most un-informed , totally ignorant poster out here.
You are out here now parsing words and phrases and applying objective terms to subjective comments to prove you're correct.
The fact is you were wrong and the fact is you don't have the guts or brains to admit it.
William of Rights,
Your nothing but a real MENTAL MIDGET! You've been trolling my post before! Your so full of crap and need a flushing out! Using the brain in your Penis and the gray matter between your hears is dead!
Now, I did read it a bit wrong, as when she got home from the lunch, he called her and told her he'd been arrested for rape and told her don't say anything to the law! So if I'm wrong, I'll admit it! But I'm not wrong about William of Right and the other dude.
So Debra, I apologize to you. But she should have listened to her instincts......She was lucky.
One things for sure, NONE of those dating sites are any good! As the women are as bad as the men! They rip men off, lie, put up fake pictures are pic's from 30 yrs. earlier. Drug addict's, alcoholic's and game players.
No good comes from those dating sites! No matter which one. They grab your money and live a good life from lonely people. Americans screwing Americans!
It's "you're" , again Bwahahaha!!!
I don't have a clue who you are or what nonsense you have posted before.
Who cares if he served in the military and is a PhD candidate? He stalks and harms unsuspecting women. That's the bottom line. Now the victim will have to put up with the defense trying to blame her. Will this ever end?
The fact that she is self describing herself as a "Christian Woman," who has a "duty," instantly creates suspicion of her motives in my mind. I would not rush to judgement either way, but I would not automatically believe her just because she said I should any more than I would believe the accused and his claims of innocence.
Applejacks, it is people like you that remind me how much ignorance exists in this world. People like you are the reason most rape victims do not come forward. I am a rape victim and I did not come forward because the perp always has more rights than the victim. Having to deal with rhetorics like yours is like being raped all over again.
As a child I was molested for 13 years. I was almost 16 years old when I came forward but I lost my family in the process because no one believed me until my father admitted it a few years later. At that point it was too late. The hurt and suffering I had to endure was too painful to deal with my family. Finally after 18 years of being away my mother contacted me with a deep apology and regret for the way she treated me, especially for not believing me. One would have thought that I would have come forward when I was raped but I thought back long and hard how no one believed me when I was molested. I eventually told 3 close male friends. These guys are very protective of me. They tried to get me to report it but totally understand my reason for not wanting to.
This has to stop. Rape victims need to know that they are protected and people will believe them. It is time rape victims stop being treated like the perps and the perps are not treated like the victim of the crime they committed. The number of rapes that are false is extremely low in comparison to the rapes that actually go unreported most of the time.
Julieann- I don't think Apple was being ignorant, I think she/he was asking a legitimate question, one that I certainly would were I to be on a jury deliberating this charge.
No where in this article did Ms. Kinney, aka California Beauty Queen, aka Christian Woman, allege any actual maltreatment from the accused Mr. Banks. One of the attorneys said she was alleging being "pushed to the boundaries... to have sexual intercourse" but apparently no sexual intercourse took place. And apparently they were still on talking terms as they subsequently "discussed meeting for lunch". This doesn't sound like a rape victim to me, nor even an afraid-of-being-a-rape-victim for that matter. So perhaps as Mr. Apple pointed out one might consider if she, the Christian Beauty Queen, might have an ulterior motive?
Look, many years ago I was accused of "sexual harassment" on the job (I'm male if you haven't gathered). I was the project engineer for a large construction site with over 1000 workers, a fairly high position. One of those workers, a female general laborer, had been fired/laid off/let go. A couple of weeks later a letter from her attorney said I had made advances towards her and therefore my company should pay. I only met the woman on 1 or 2 occasions when she would come into my office to empty the trash, I didn't know her name or recall even speaking to her.
Needlesstosay after about 6 months and countless $$ in legal fees she admitted that she made it all up and the case was dropped.
This too, has to stop.
Julianne; I totally agree with what you said about everything in the victim's (woman's) past being thrown at her in court. Most of it is absurd, unless it's pertinent to the case, like, did she make similar charges before with someone else? What were the specifics of THAT? Not things like "how many men have you slept with"? "What were you wearing"? etc.
But, the accused needs his rights protected too. This didn't happen to me (luckily) but to a friend of mine who I introduced to this woman who I'll call Dee. He went out with Dee (who was the sister of a business friend of my family) They ended up at a motel in a sleepy little town. After consensual sex, Dee asked him to go to the office to get them sodas from the machine. While he was gone, she dialed the operator (this was before 911) and claimed that she was taken to the motel by force and raped, giving the motel name and the room, then hanging up. My friend returned with the sodas and never knew what happened. He got back into bed with her. You know what happened next. Within minutes, every cruiser in town, plus several state police, were outside their room.
There was no way to talk himself out of this one. There was no DNA yet either, but it was his sperm inside her, and he was caught "in the act". And she put on a great act herself, once the police arrived. His life would have been over if it hadn't been for her brother. He went to the police and told them "forget it boys, she's tried to do this before." I never knew Dee had mental problems, obviously her brother didn't tell people about it. And I was the one who was supposed to go out with her, but was unavailable for the date we had set up. Needless to say, after this there never was a date, and I had a difficult time convincing my friend that I never knew about her.
So, without the brother, the only thing that would possibly have saved my friend might have been a good defense lawyer IF he could find out that she had a history. (Apparently, her other times did not end up
in the courts or on record. Her brother never told me what they were.) I do not automatically stereotype every woman who claims rape with Dee, but you shouldn't automatically believe every man accused of rape is absolutely guilty. And while it's criminal what they put a rape victim through, once charged with rape, even after being exonerated, it is much harder for the man because there will always be those few who believe "he got away with it".
Its a dating website. Just because they use the word "Christian" does not mean its safe or unlike any other of these social websites. Buyer beware.
"Its a dating website. Just because they use the word "Christian" does not mean its safe"
You got it. In fact -- the use of the word "Christian" is a huge red flag. I used to work with a guy who thought he had to nail every women he spoke to. He said tent revivals were a great place to pick up women -- a lot easier than in bars.
I fail to see where a person with PhD qualifications, being a college graduate and having served in the military excludes him of being a rapist. Have you not read about the number of rapes that occur on college campuses?
Rapist come from every walk of life and every socio economic backgrounds. This Attorney needs to come with a lot more then his college and military background in order to come up with so e type of defense . Although, I doubt this man has any redeeming qualities from what has been said so far.
Some of the oldest excuses are education, wealth, profession, family standing, etc. Even outstanding families produce rapists and or molesters...careful around frat boys, too! Sometimes it happens within the "outstanding pilars of the community's" own family!
Females: ALWAYS TRUST YOUR INTUITION! No matter what the guy says; guys say anything - especially the most polished, the most charming ones = sociopaths. If you see a red flag, heed it!
Likewise the prosecutor needs to come up with a lot more than "she's a Christian woman" to support her accusations.
@WilliamOfRights,
So you graduated from a Christian college? If so, then they did teach you about other religions, didn't they? Or were they just self inclusive on their teachings?
When I went to college, it was a state college, and yes, I did learn about religion, but way before I went to college. I also learned their was a man by the name of Jesus, and his father is who some Christian's call their GOD.
I also learned that some people called a person by the name of THOR their GOD. And let's not forget ZEUS or RA either. So exactly which one is more powerful? We have seen the fighting between the Muslims and the people following your GOD. I have yet to see any fighting between Zeus's people and others, or RA's and others.
Care to explain that? And yes, if you think I gave you some stupid examples of different GODS, then you should be able to understand how your GOD may look to other people. Why don't you keep your GOD at home, in your church and in your heart, and QUIT telling everyone else about what you think and believe in?
The real truth, nobody gives a flying F at a rolling donut about your religion!
Our world today is torn asunder by men and women who claim that God is on their side, and who, secure in the righteousness of their positions, perpetrate acts of violent destruction. Such individuals are driven by the certainty that they are privy to sacred truths and are therefore morally obligated to do everything in their power—no matter how many people may suffer—to act upon these truths. Coupled with their inflated sense of personal rectitude, moral certainty, and ideological purity is a tendency to dehumanize and even demonize those who oppose them.
I think you need to reread his posts Sally. You and he(and myself as well) are on the same side.
@WilliamOfRights,
I took theology, cults and doctrine all as majors. What little faith I had in a supreme being was quickly dashed after 4 years of trying to make any sense out of such a hypocritical mass of illogical and counter-productive processes of thought and action.
@William, off topic here but do you have any thoughts regarding the percentage of preachers/pastors/popes/clergy who also realize the fallacy of religion?
I'm reminded of the documentory about the preacher "Marjoe".
Christian bashing is the only socially acceptable form of bigotry left in this country.
Christians get to tell you about their beliefs because this is America and there is that pesky 1st Amendment - it alows both speech and religion - go figure.
Enjoy your feelings of superiority and let those feelings counteract the inadequacies you must feel. To demean any group of people because they think/feel/opine differently than you is to act as the KKK and the neonazis - and largely for the same reasons.
@WilliamOfRights,
Why didn't you answer my question, about keeping your religion at home...
Don't feel bad, you are not the only bible thumper that won't answer that question.
"Christian bashing is the only socially acceptable form of bigotry left in this country."
Calling out YOUR bigotry is not itself bigotry. :P
Oh, GMAFB! Try being fat in this society. Or Muslim. Christians wish they were being persecuted. But, sorry, you really HAVE to be persecuted to be persecuted like Jesus. Being a whiny little bitch doesn't count.
Does it count if I'm threatened with jail for being with someone who was talking quietly about our Christian beliefs one-on-one with a kid who wanted to hear them on a sidewalk in a city in the US? (I know the kid wanted to hear what was being said because when we were threatened with jail he said, "Let the lady talk, man!") Granted, they didn't try to kill us. I've also been called just about every name in the book on here, I've been intellectually bullied in various ways, and I've had atheists wish various natural disasters on me and my family-such as wildfires and hurricanes. There's not much else you can do on here, really, and I'm basically just letting you know these things for informative purposes. However, I must ask if you really think I wish my life was in danger or that my family was in danger because of my faith like it is for Christians in a number of other countries? Seriously?
BTW, you do have a point about other groups that are persecuted like fat people and Muslims. I am constantly appalled at what some people will say about people who are obese in particular-but Muslims get it also. Christians actually should not be whining at all because our teachings say that we are SUPPOSED to be persecuted, that it is actually not a bad thing if it happens (not that we enjoy it or wish for it) because of what we have to look forward to when it's over. I think a lot of people have forgotten that part of the Bible, though.
seen. I find what you're saying very, very hard to believe -- in light of the fact police protect the Westboro Church anywhere they protest, in any state. That protesters go undisturbed outside planned parenthood and abortion clinics. That christians swarm gay pride parades just to "let the participants know" they are going to hell. And all the other things christian soldiers do - that they never get arrested for. Doesn't seem your ilk is too persecuted with the amount of tv and radio stations airing only christian programing. Not to mention the 2 national holidays dedicated to your boy, Jesus. Tons of churches in ever town and city in the USA. Every jewelry store, brick and mortar plus the shopping channels, sell several styles of crosses and fish. I could go on and on about how your persecuted group of outcasts dominate our country. And, yes, you do that christian martyr thing here, you will get a huge backlash every single time.
@WilliamOfRights,
Do you actually READ the posts you are commenting on??
What part of "hypocritical mass of illogical and counter-productive processes of thought and action" makes you think I am a bible-thumper??
You give ammunition to the atheist haters every time you post.
Go get your GED.
Even other posters are trying to get you to actually read and comprehend.
WilliamOfRites
The very first post on this vine which is mine doesn't give you any clues??\
Imbecile.
'"This young man -- he’s a Ph.D. candidate. He’s a college graduate. He served in the military" sounds like his attorney wants to bang him!
"I like your Christ, I do not like your christians. Your christians are so unlike your Christ"
Mahatma Ghandi
WilliamOfRites, You have a pathological disorder that you like to defend every person with a sociopathic personality disturbance. When in fact you are the one who needs help the most. As they say "It takes one to know one".
Who exactly is he supposed to be defending?
Spoken like a true "Christian"!
I also believe Gandhi supported NAZI Germany and encouraged his people to remain neutral, and said the Jews should have marched passively into the gas chambers.
Every time I hear their ad with their trademarked phrase, "Find God's match for you", I cringe. This is a for profit business that preys on the naive flock with the implication that it has some sort of inside line with God above others. It's one thing when a non-profit church pastor says such, but it is just sleazy marketing for a business.
Bring back the lions!
Will O Rites- How dare you use logic and facts. Play fair... make stuff up and use your gut feeling to justify your position damn you!
Cartman might want to Re-vamp his rockin song "Fingerbang" to a slow dance number called "Digital Penetration".
@!$%#ing priceless! Good one.
@Gary
It is bad as mega churches and "evangelists" selling videos, books, bookmarks, and prayers as well as sponsoring credit cards.
In the South, there are men who proclaim themselves as preachers rather than getting real jobs and working. All they have to do is say "God told me to do it!" No training other than other self-appointed "preachers of the Gospel" showing them how to pull it off.
There is no end to what can be sold to The Gullible. We even have radio talking heads and a tabloid news network that turns its viewers into the definition of cult members; it makes Rupert Murdoch and the talking heads lots of money, their version of "god."
Here's a hint, claiming to be a "christian" woman while participating in a thing that stands against everything Jesus Christ taught, well let's just say that in this country, what passes for christianity would make Jesus have second thoughts about being nailed to a cross for us.
I hope his military history will be investigated for raping lower ranking personnel. Usually, these behaviors don't start in the mid 30s. They go back to mid-late teens.
A PhD and military and blah blah blah. I do not care about the achievement, if he actually committed rape he is at the bottom of the barrel.
Of course, am speaking about "legit rape" here. What ever that is. Have to ask some famous Grand Ole Peanut gallery candidates and supporters about that.
Also, glad I looked up digital penetration. When I first read that was thinking - could that have something to do with cyber sex??
"Also, glad I looked up digital penetration. When I first read that was thinking - could that have something to do with cyber sex??"
Not at all... glad you looked it up vs many people here who go off on a tirade not understanding the words they read.
For anybody else thinking that is some sort of online crime - it means "finger banging" without permission.
Definition of a moron: Go on the internet to find a date. Perfect.
There are many professionals, working women and busy women who don't, and can't meet, eligible men in their work place or in their local communities. They have special needs like wanting a Chinese, Jewish, active in sports, etc. Nothing wrong with that. Now there is more fear of meeting a guy on the street and going out with him...before you know anything about him. Dating sites do the vetting for you!
Lot of American men don't even know how to behave socially. Most of the guys many women meet outside appear to be unsophisticated...crude, culturally narrow and crazy. Women with amazing education and global travel are great catches. What do the guys bring to the table? Zero! American men, I am learning, are not big catches anymore. Some American men are going to Russia to find a pretty blonde, to the Philippines to find a better wife and some are going to Europe to find more sophisticated woman. Are they stupid and sexist, or just realistic and truthful? Either way what does that say about USA, USA, USA?
Sophisticated people or intellectual people are busy pursuing their work, career and other ambitions...including social issues. Sometimes they don't meet eligible men or women in their busy life. So they wish to meet sophisticated men...and don't. So don't knock stuff because you found the love of your life in the nearest bar during a drinking binge, or Halloween party. American has become a land of disgusting men...and immigrants do not evolve very well...though some do well economically. Evolved people are far too few in numbers.
Real life meeting or chance meeting or internet meeting...can all have its challenges.
Don't trash all American men. There are plenty of good catches, most of whom were two timed by the women that they had dated seriously and don't know any worthy (educated, intelligent, etc) single candidates. Dating sites are good for "dating" but I have yet to meet anybody from one that wasn't a compulsive liar or who had greatly exaggerated about at least one major thing. The scary ones are those who didn't mention that they had kids, or who said that they didn't and then you find out randomly that they had several but since they don't have custody they pretend that they were honestly answering the question.... RUN!!!
Kids don't bother me, but if you claim to not have any and actually do, you're done. If you can lie about such a profound thing, they lie about everything else without even thinking twice. There's no respect there, so those ones are of course nicely told "it's not going to work out".
Hell, the only single women I know are all divorced and scarred (and are paranoid that you will do the same things that their ex did to the point that they never fully let down their guard and just enjoy themselves) from the jerks they naively married too young - or are a product of this society and think that being 100 pounds overweight is "their problem" and if you dare suggest that they may not be a good match for you, you're suddenly a jerk. Of course they don't stop to think that somebody may not want to get serious about somebody who is going to have many health issues during their life that could be avoided if they actually spent even a tiny amount of time taking care of themselves.
It's not just American guys with issues... :P
"An American"...I am not sure what that means anymore. I clearly pushed a button. I don't know what your experience is...but it is obvious it has not been pleasant. But I have met great men...but mostly in the university crowd and among the immigrant or the well traveled crowd. But that crowd has changed, or is taken. Outside small circles America has become trash. Look at the way people write and talk! Terrible!
I also gather you are talking about women, not the sophisticated kind, you keep meeting. You actually proved my point. American men and American women, mostly Anglos, are not a great catch anymore!
Thank you! Case closed!
"I don't know what your experience is...but it is obvious it has not been pleasant."
Whose has in recent decades other than those lucky few who found a great match?
"You actually proved my point. American men and American women, mostly Anglos, are not a great catch anymore!"
Extreme overgeneralization. For every handful of Jersey Shore idiots out there, you do have one or two real polyglot citizens of the world out there. Just because most folks have allowed themselves to be dumbed down, there are people who resist.
Lumping the two types into the same category isn't fair.
"Christian" meat markets - er - dating web sites - are full of con artists and perverts who hope to find a naive "Christian" to victimize. Probably more dangerous than some that don't claim any religious affiliation.
more dangerous than those who don't claim a religious affiliation? LMAO
Religious people are the worst. Killing in the name of Jesus & god has been going on since those were made up by man. So don't espouse anything you don't know. Atheists, Humanists, etc, believe that everyone IS GOOD without god! God is a manmade concept
Yeah! Atheists like Stalin, Kruschev, Mao Tse Tung, Pol Pot, etc. were VERY GOOD without GOD. LOL!
honestly, ANY ideaology or religion, when taken to the extreme, ends up becoming destructive. the only exception is when pacifism is part of the idealogy, and many christians out there right now are far from pacifist.
note, I say many, not all, I will never worry about quakers or amish forcefully rounding up atheists for religious reeducation camps, some of these "evangelicals" though, I really wonder about if they get fully in to power of our government. even some christians worry about other groups of christians, and label these dangerous types as "dominionists", very little difference between the "dominionists" and the taliban
This isn't a point about a "Christian" online dating site, it is a point about all these online dating sites. A woman in Las Vegas is taking Match.com to court. A woman dated a man for quite some time, she decided to break it off and he almost stabbed her to death. I've had the misfortune to meet a few people on these sites and to a person the men have been scammers, asking for money because they are "overseas" and have lost their credit cards or forgot to bring them, ran out of cash, etc., etc. These are breeding grounds for predators. These sites will eventually be sued out of existence if they don't start screening people more thoroughly.
This is not the first time. This has probably gone on in many religious dating sites and women victims, out of fear, social stigma or religious puritanism, rarely report it.
There are also women who, in stead of being honest about their own sexual needs, play mind games. There are cases of Christian women who have seduced men and then call it "rape" just to avoid any social stigma. Many teenagers in conservative families do this in the US. In stead of owning up to their sexual behaviors they try to make themselves into a victim. I am sure this happens in other puritanical societies like the Middle East.
Some of the religious dating sites are quite perverse...one does not know if it is a dating site or an escort site. But it is important that other religious groups don't get sanctimonious. This probably happens in some orthodox Jewish and Islamic dating sites too.
Press needs to investigate. In fact one ex-cardinal said that the Vatican church, Saudi Arabia and the Taliban are alike. That is an extreme statement...but he is alluding to something we don't know. He must investigate.
So must the press. The press merely reports after the fact...They have to investigate more of these closed systems.
