This is like that story from yesterday, where the guy poured perfume on his g/f and set her on fire.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE WOMEN?

I'm not blaming the woman certainly, but WHY do they stay with guys like these?

I don't believe for a moment that this was his first act of violence. Just his LAST..

Against her anyway.

My condolences to the family and friends of this young lady.

For the boyfriend..I hope he rots in hell.

The perfume incident happened near me and I was disgusted. Lack of opportunity caused by the "neo christian and anti everything teabaggers have some responsibility, but it is sure wrong anyway you look at it. As a Moderate Republican, I say the effects of the ultra extreme neocons that were bought off since Regan have the most responsibility. I would rather have a pot smoking progressive or moderate sitting in the White House than the drunken fascist clan that backed Hitler and the Nazis in pre WWII Germany. Hell, today, even Bush I could not get elected by the redneck GOP of today. My local US Rep, Mark Critz lost to a guy named Rothfus whose only claim was that he would oppose anything sound that the Dems suggested. His first claim to fame was NOT signing off on the Sandy Hurricane relief.

COG..this is not the responsiblity of Teabaggers or Neo cons or whoever else you want to blame,

The blame, first and last is on the SCUM who committed the act.

NO ONE ELSE.

Janine...apparently your ignorance is quite huge in your comments. You have never been through an abusive relationship, have you? Perhaps you should keep your mouth shut until you have walked in their shoes. It is very easy for women to become trapped in abusive relationships. Getting away is not so easy as you seem to think. How would you like it if someone threatened you, made you believe you were worthless and that no one else would care for you and law enforcement does little to protect despite the laws out there? I was in an abusive relationship that put me in the hospital twice. The police were of no help...because they did not witness him beating on me. The threats he made against me were enough to make me stay. I was in fear of losing my life regardless if I stayed or if I left him. It was only because I became friends with someone did it all come to an end for me. Someone else had to threaten him in order to get him to back off. I was never left alone for a couple of years because they believed he would try to find me. The police did nothing to protect me but the right friend that had the balls to take him on became my protector. Would you take someone in or be there for them 24/7 to see that she is safe from her abuser? My guess, no you would not.

Julieann, you know nothing about what I would do.

It is true that I have never been in such a relationship. I would not tolerate it. All it would take is a man hitting me once..and that would it be for me.

If a friend of mine needed help in such a situation, I would be there in a heart beat. So would my husband.

There is nothing in the article that states he was abusive before this terrible event. I am not naive, but isn't there a chance he flipped and killed her in the heat of the moment? They don't even know how she died yet. Odds are, those of you who think he was abusive toward her are correct, but there is still a slim chance he wasn't.

She was going to leave her boyfriend to move to the Dominican Republic; it doesn't say whether he was from the DR, but we seem to be seeing the DR mentioned in the news rather more than usual lately relative to murder and mutilation, usually involving sharp instruments, and storage of bodies in the home.

So far, no firearms have been mentioned.

    RIP, young lady.

Why do you make a jokes about someone being murdered and stuffed in a barrel? As a mother with a daughter this disturbs me to know end. It doesn't matter that this was in Harlem, she was somebody's child and she is dead. Can we show a little respect and compassion? My condolences to her family.

@ Roger, I never mentioned a gun one way or the other in my comment. I was asking for compassion for someone's murdered daughter, because as the mother of a daughter, I was saddened about what happened.

And my condolences for your loss. Why is the person not in prison?

@Roger/gallahad, I hate to question someone who claims a loved one has been killed, but on behalf of gallahad123, I wonder. Roger you've made subsequent comments, joking around about this rather sick scenario, that lead me to wonder whether you are fabricating something about a daughter being stuffed in a sink. If that were the case, wouldn't you be showing a little more reverence and respect? This woman was someone else's daughter...if your story were true, I would have to think that you would be impacted in a very emotionally powerful and solemn manner. Regardless, you need to temper your remarks and per gallahad's point, just gain a sense of decency that isn't surprising you are missing - so many people have lost their sense of reality - everything is a movie or a video game until it actually happens to them or they do it to someone else. We are unable to empathize anymore - and thus we get comments like yours.

Roger is one of those people who can't help themselves and make up whatever they want to fit whatever situation they want it to fit. I put him on ignore awhile back just for that reason. LOL, bet he is posting something about me now or already has. He can't stand it that he is on ignore. His drama can't reach anyone then.

As far as how this girl died, in the end everyone dies. Some in their sleep, some by a bus, and some in a barrel. Not sure how I will go, but one thing is for certain, sooner or later I will find out. This is why death doesn't bother me, it's a part of life. So lighten up a bit.

1st off, what was this guy doing with that big of a barrel in HIS APARTMENT? I mean after the whole Jeffery Dohmer thing any body seen bringing that big of a barrel into his apartment should raise RED FLAGS with other tenants, at least you'd think it would.

I don't know much about people storing dead bodies in barrels but the stuff I DO know about it, usually means to me that this wasn't the first time the guy killed someone. Theres usually more than one victim when the guy starts with the barrels...

I had predicted as "systems fail, support for people dwindle, communities disappear, economic woes increase, families fall apart or become distant, jealousy, greed and desires increase, expectations go up, employers' demands go up or gets punitive...psychological problems will increase, and rejections and aloneness become unbearable for some!"

There is a movie where an aging man tells the neighbor, who is his only friend and lover, "I have nothing. If you leave me I'll either kill myself or you and then myself! You give me hope, you give me some attention and you give me a reason to wake up everyday and try and live!"

She gets tired of his neediness, clinginess and his possessiveness...and she leaves. He struggles for a few months...alone, lonely and miserable. Then happily one day...he kills himself.

Older people are going to kill themselves, and younger ones are going to killing others. Of course if you are rich, or super rich, you can kill everybody these days with weapons, wars, chemicals, financial ruin, lying, deception, manipulation, scams, organized cons, etc.

                                            to Janine -

I said the same thing - any man ever hit me and I was gone. And I meant it! But he knew not to strike me. Verbal abuse sneaks up on you sometimes. When it starts, you don't even recognize it for what it is. It was a joke at your expense, then it seems like everything that ever goes wrong is your fault. It is not always financially possible to pack up the kids and leave to start over. And then there is the utter conviction after years of being told repeatedly what a failure you are and how you could never make it alone.... and you are no longer just trying to walk away from the abuser but the indoctrination you've exposed yourself to for years. I own it. I am blessedly out. It was just as much he77 leaving as it was living it. I don't expect you to understand how difficult it was. I would ask you to please not dismiss how difficult it was.

Get them out of society for good, and the death penalty is the only way. There isn't anyway, that this would have been the only time of violence for this person.

Just recycle the barrel - catch the perp, put him in and lock the lid on. When you get another smell complaint, just put the barrel out by the curb for pickup.

People argue the death penalty is too expensive, which is horse@!$%#. One piece of rope or one lead bullet is cheap.

Oh yeah..if the kid were gay or something, the libs would be all over this, wouldn't they? So selective with outrage & emotion. If ONLY the kid were in some narrow demographic group that could be exploited!.......

What the boyfriend did was heinous, disgusting and very psychotic. I hope that the police get all of the info real soon and put her to rest. I know that it takes a while to get to the bottom of a case but the police in this matter should hasten it up a bit.
