Book says Roger Ailes called Obama 'lazy' and Biden 'dumb as an ashtray'

Roger Ailes, president of Fox News Channel, is the subject of a new biography in which he's quoted as saying President Obama is "lazy."

Fox News chief Roger Ailes doesn't mince words in a new biography: President Obama is "lazy" and Vice President Joe Biden is "dumb as an ashtray."

But it's not just Democrats who get withering reviews from the conservative media icon. Ailes suggests that Sen. Marco Rubio is too soft and Newt Gingrich is a "sore loser" and an unprintable reference to male anatomy.

The blunt characterizations appear in Vanity Fair's adapted excerpt of "Roger Ailes: Off Camera," by Zev Chafets. Ailes cooperated with the book, which will be published March 19.

Fox News chief Roger Ailes is quoted in a new biography as saying he likes Joe Biden but thinks the vice president is "dumb as an ashtray."

The comment about Obama was reportedly made during last year's presidential primary season as Ailes was briefed about Democratic operative Hilary Rosen's remark that Ann Romney had never worked a day in her life.

“Obama’s the one who never worked a day in his life. He never earned a penny that wasn’t public money. How many fund-raisers does he attend every week? How often does he play basketball and golf? I wish I had that kind of time," Ailes said, according to the excerpt.

"He’s lazy, but the media won’t report that,” he said, then added that Obama had admitted being lazy in an interview with Barbara Walters.

In a 2011 interview with Walters, Obama said, "There is a deep down, underneath all the work I do, I think there’s a laziness in me," adding, "It’s probably from, you know, growing up in Hawaii, and it’s sunny outside and sitting on the beach.’”

During the briefing on Rosen, Ailes also was told that Gingrich -- a former Fox commentator -- complained the network's support for Mitt Romney had hurt his chances.

"Brush him back," Ailes told his spokesman, according to Vanity Fair. "He's a sore loser and if he had won, he would have been a sore winner." Then he followed up with an off-color five-letter insult.

At a Fox Latino staff meeting, Ailes revealed he liked Rubio but didn't know if he was vice-presidential material.

"He's a nice guy and that role requires kicking the crap out of your opponents," he said.

"I have a soft spot for Joe Biden," he added. "I like him. But he's dumb as an ashtray."

Asked whether Ailes stands by the remarks, Fox News issued a statement: "Vanity Fair excerpts a fraction of a 272-page book so it would be impractical to comment without having read the entire body of work in context.”

The book says Ailes, 72, revels in his role as a free-wheeling tough guy but also has a fatalistic streak and think's he'll be dead within a decade.

Chafets wrote that he asked Ailes what he thinks heaven will be like.

“I’m pretty sure that God’s got a sense of humor,” he said. “I think he gets a laugh out of me from time to time, so I suppose things will be all right.”

Asked what would happen if God was a liberal, Ailes replied, “Well, hell, if God’s a liberal, that’s his business...But I doubt very much that he is. He’s got a good heart.”

YEAH . . and the Republicans would win a genius award? The group of morons and and fools trotted out by Republicans for the election would be unable to form a parade. The most intensive propaganda machine ever operated by a public TV stations ---- FOX NEWS ---- failed to sell these pathetic losers.

Republicans bring on the greatest recession in a century with disastrous policies, and they are brilliant?

Republican/Tea Bigots champion more wealth transfer to the uber wealthy, and you got your clocks cleaned by sane Americans.

Republican/Tea Bigots seek more opportunities for wars they won't pay for . . . refuse to support health care and jobs for homecoming soldiers . . . and allowed hospitals for war heroes to fall into disrepair.

Republican/Tea Bigots refuse to sponsor more jobs repairing America's collapsing infrastructure, adding teachers, police, firemen but that's simply great in your feeble mind.

Republican/Tea Bigots think health care is only for the rich, although their own Heritage Foundation designed large portions of Obamacare when Romney presented it in Massachusetts. Hypocrite?

Republicans run from the gun lobby rather than seek sane gun regulations and background checks? Morons or simply sold out to the gun lobby. Pimp much?

The interesting thing is that after graduation, Obama worked for a law firm and then was a lecturer (professor) of Constitutional Law at a prominent law school. He was making over $100k a year at the latter. "Never earned a dime in his life"???? I guess 11 years as a teacher doesn't count!!!

No one had to write a book to tell us that Biden is as dumb as an ashtray. He proves it every time he opens his mouth and makes one of his inane comments or when he flashes that goofy smile. The country is in big trouble if something should prevent Obama from finishing his second term and Biden has to take over as president, and that is saying a lot, considering the bang up job Obama is doing.

Charlie,

UNEMPLOYMENT OVER 7.5% FOR 50 STRAIGHT MONTHS.

All those private sector gains are because people don't have jobs, and employees are working the job of 3 or more people. The DOW is being artificially inflated becuase of $20billion a month being pumped into it by the FED. Oil production is up because of private land owners. Govt fields are at an all time low. Osama was a joint effort by Bush and Obama. The intelligence gained under Bush led us to him. Waterboarding was how we were able to get the courrier's information.

Oye... As a person who is generally quite centrist, the first response is troublesome. The left is quick to point out the hypocrisies and areas where the right wears blinders, and rightfully so, but then spews stuff like this...

"Aisles is a pig. Just look at him.

He could be cast to play the lead in Orwell's Animal Farm.

"All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others."'

"Just look at him"? Really? Isn't one of the criticisms the left levels against the right is judgement based on things like social status, race, religion, etc, rather than judgement of people as individuals? And snap judgements - on what do you base what you've said about this guy? "Just look at him"? Again, isn't a big part of what you dislike the old order for the idea that you can just look at a person and know something about them, like their religion/political leanings/whatever? Isn't one of the big problems many of you have with the right is that a good portion of that group looked at Obama and said "Just look at him - he's just an XXXX!" and prejudged him - and now you're doing exactly that?

Unfortunately for many of you, the 29 who voted this up, it reveals that you are as untrue to some of your lofty ideals as those you criticize. It's OK to be any colour, race, creed, religion, whatever - unless you're fat, bald, white, rich, and associated with Fox News. Then you're evil, it's OK to belittle you, and we can prejudge you all the livelong day, since we don't like an organization you own and you fall into the bad area of prejudgements that we have. Many of you who voted this up *should* be ashamed, but you won't be, because you can just look at this guy and *know* he's the big bad evil capitalist right wing monster you are willing to paint the "other" group as. It's all too easy to become bigots against those who are different than you, and many of you who criticize others for being bigots have become just that against those that you criticize. Shame on you. Look in a mirror and admire both your arrogance and your hypocrisy at this point, as you literally have become the thing that you claim to despise with your casual and uninformed deconstruction of this guy based on how he looks.

If this is a big deal, turn a proportional amount of rage to Maher for using the "C" word to describe a woman on the right. Imagine a black conservative, female who doesn't want to fund abortion, Israeli, Christian, or white male that makes more $$ than you do and then imagine your own words you just came up with being in that book. Hypocritical much?

Besides, I find this remark insulting to ashtrays.

Wow, if Republicans can't win against a "lazy" President and a "dumb" Vice-President, releasing Obama's Harvard transcripts is not going to give them any ammunition. Neither willl this snorefest of a book.

Maybe they should stick to accusing bicycle riders of polluting the environment ( http://now.msn.com/ed-orcutt-seattle-representative-defends-bike-tax-by-saying-bikes-are-bad-for-the-environment ) or crafting bills that redefine embryos as organs ( http://now.msn.com/mary-sue-mcclurkin-alabama-state-rep-claims-a-baby-is-the-largest-organ-in-a-body ), or avoiding military service, Us and Them ("I had other priorities in the sixties than military service." ~ Dick Cheney on his five draft deferments). Every American who is 'Smarter than a 5th Grader' already knew that FoxNews has no objectivity, and that Ailes (and Murdoch) set the Right-wing agenda of that cable network.

But the really odd thing about this disclosure in writing is that even this will not be enough to mute the continual arguments of FoxNews parrots on Newsvine who insist that the network is objective, unbiased, "fair & balanced". It is mind-boggling?

Ailes disclosure, in writing, of the rhetorical-force-majeure corporate bent of FoxNews is also reinforcement of the breadth of America's protection of the First Amendment. In many other countries FoxNews would already have been seized and dismantled, and Ailes (and Murdoch) would be rotting in prison; in China they would already have been shot.

Unfortunately, the way these people have chosen to exercise their Constitutionally protected freedom is to do so with no demonstrable understanding that with freedom comes responsibility, and that truth is relevant.

When you are loosing the argument because the facts don't support your position, you resort to name calling. You can see multiple examples of it on these boards daily. In fact, when you see a poster resorting to name calling, you can safely assume he is loosing the argument. Apparently, Ailes is a accomplished practioner of the art. In my opinion, No. But I have never argued such. So what's your point?

Certainly you aren't trying to divert, derail or change the subject, correct?

Certainly you aren't defending the bias of Ailes and FoxNews by pointing to the bias of others, correct?

Wouldn't that be corollary to arguing that 'two wrongs make a right'?

Why would you immediately presume, as illustrated by your comment, that a person who notes the lack of objectivity of FoxNews, would a priori defend the objectivity of MSN and CNN? Do you have an objectivity issue of your own, perhaps?

From the looks of him, I'd say he's right. And if he happens to knock on my door right now, he won't even last another minute.

I think of Ailes and Trump the exact same way. They may revel in their roles as "tough guys", but deep down I think they are just trying to compensate for other serious shortcomings.

Brad,

Considering that Obama said unemployment would be reduced to 5.7 or 5.9% if we passed the $900,000,000,000 stimulus plan, I think we can move the goal posts all we want until the rate is reduced to those levels.

It is called affirmative action, the year that Obama was admitted to Harvard 19% of the people admitted to harvard were african american, surely not all were more qualified then the vast amount of applicants that were turned away, more like white guilt was the reason.

The Harvard Review had two pools of candidates for the President of the Harvard Review, Obama was in the runner up pool but he was the highest ranking African American so they chose him, they had never before done this in the history of the Harvard Review.

SteveJNB...

You noticed that all the holier-than-thou (D) voters have quite the stockpile of bile and hatred inside them just waiting to fly like spit from a camel's mouth at any and every person who does not see things the way they do. Quite the crew, aren't they? A number of them on this thread today even praised the performance of Joe Biden at the VP debate !!! Amazing isn't it ??? Joe showed himself to be a classless, intemperate loudmouth during what was supposed to be a gentleman's debate on 'ideas'...and these folks were impressed by his comedic performance ! Go figure !

But anything and anyone leaning 'Republican' or 'conservative' is just no damn good to the holier-than-thou crowd. They are just not impressed by anything not 'Democrat'. Mr. Romney was painted to be a nitwit, even though only 17 students have ever accomplished what he accomplished in the 368 year history of Harvard University...while Mr. Obama is to be seen as a genius, even though nobody knows what college courses he took or what grades he received. Again, go figure !

I am struck however, by the demographics of the 2012 election. It appears that the lower the income, the lesser one's command of the English language, the younger the voter, and the lower the tax bill...the higher the chance that one voted for Mr. Biden & Mr. Obama.

These folks would even stretch reality to the point of rupturing by insisting that Mr. Obama has great leadership skills...despite the fact that there has been zero evidence to make the point that has been made clearer every week he spends on the job.

What else is there to examine?

Besides, Obama supporters are always quick to tell anyone who will listen just how Supremely Intelligent Obama is.

I would imagine that Obama couldn't wait to show everyone how clever his is.

Finally someone in the media that is not so politically correct that they can tell the truth. I think he was a little bit kind in his statements.

As far as those talking about Obama's time "teaching" constitutional law from what he has done recently he needs to take a few courses in constitutional law before he attempts to teach that course. He apparently forgot the part about three branches of government and the responsibilities each branch. He is also does not seem to be to sharp on any of the amendments. It is a good thing the 22nd Aamendment will get him out of office on January 20, 2017. Maybe if we ground Air Force One to save money he could read up on the Constitution.

Deep down, we are all lazy on some level.

Maybe you arent lazy when it comes to your job, but I guarantee you're lazy in other area's...like Chris Christie when it comes to his physical size and future health problems.

Or maybe like so many republicans busy making lots and lots of money, they are lazy when it comes to raising their families, seriously...when you're away on business all the time making money as your priority, kind of hard to be there for your kids and be in their lives. Oh i know, you are "taking care of them financially" - yep, I know.

I might be kinda lazy in my work, but im not at all lazy in my love life. I take very good care of my spouse, emotionally and in all other ways, and our 13 years together (at age 33, which is longer than some "family oriented conservatives" have been able to make their relationships last) shows that I put my focus where it truly matters.

I work hard enough, though...no...i'll never be a slave to any corporation, or to money.

In that regard, Jesus and GOD are proud of me. They know where our passions and hearts should be, and it's not in getting richer and richer and richer.

But this Fox News idiot, likely doesnt have a clue about any of that.

@Dawgfan-4710266 wrote

"UNEMPLOYMENT OVER 7.5% FOR 50 STRAIGHT MONTHS."

Again, you really should try parsing your comments through the filter of logic.

On January 20, 2009, the day that Mr. Obama took his oath of Office, the United States had already been in "Recession" for 15 months; five fiscal quarters. The deepest recession in 80 years, since 1929.

And the economy was bleeding job losses at the rate of more than 700,000 per month; approx. 5 million jobs already shed to the recession before Mr. Bush had even packed-up the White House moving van.

The course of the American and world economy is corrected similarly to changing the course of an Aircraft Carrier. The new course is set, and very, very slowly the vessel changes direction fighting against its own momentum.

Continuing with this same analogy: Partisans, in complete absence of objectivity, not only insist that an Aircraft Carrier can actually maneuver just like a high-performance speedboat with the right captain at the helm, but that the course was properly set to begin with, until the new skipper took the wheel.

Sort of like saying "There was nothing wrong when the previous captain steered the ship onto the reef and ran it aground. The problem began when the new captain took actions to pull it off the rocks and get it sailing again, and in so doing took on some additional water."

The thing which really befuddles me is the number of Partisans who seem to also be arguing "Let's get this ship righted and head back toward that reef. We liked it there, and the ship seemed a lot more steady with it's bow wedged on the rocks."

Robert - oh don't you know, everything bad that happened under Bush's leadership, was all the democrats fault...and probably Obama's too.

Poor Mr. Bush couldnt do a darn thing, other than flaunt that failure as his own (remember his country tour touting HIS Home Ownership program? yeah...I do)

Poor Mr. Bush couldnt do anything about cutting taxes - and not cutting spending to match it. Or then when he waged two wars, didnt cut any spending to account for the new spending - since we know republicans would NEVER raise taxes. OMG. We had to wait for a democratic president to take office before we could complain about spending and a lack of revenues!

and that recession, it was because Bawney Frank held a gun to banks heads and forced them to make bad loans :-( even though, the only way the banks could have made those bad loans was because banks were flushed with investor cash and were looking for a place to put it - A La, HOUSING.

Remember that tour Bush took touting HIS plan...full circle.

But, yeah, republicans bear ZERO responsibility...

and that whole 3rd world nation reality...that started back in the 80's when reagan destroyed a whole bunch of regulations that prevented the housing bubble, and dot com bubble, that has sunk our economy.

next bubble burst - credit debt.

im sure that will be all democrats faults too.

Has anyone cared to see how Fox News programs are rating? Well the top twelve programs/shows belong to Fox. They have the runs on the board. As for Roger Ailes, his ability is not in question; he has led the Fox News Channel for the last 16 years.

Whether President Obama is lazy or not, I would not know. One thing I do know is that he is going to leave the country with a debt that will weigh down the country for many, many years. I also know that the very people President purportedly represents are the people who’ll suffer the most because of it, the debt. Far from leveling the playing field, the President is creating a chasm through our society that will take generations to bridge.

VP Biden, shotgun Joe, the years in politics have left their mark on him for everyone to see. R. Ailes’ description of the VP, "dumb as an ashtray" is how I’ve thought about him over the years, actually every time he stands behind the lectern.

Actually, according to the official Bureau of Labor Statistics, it's only 28 straight months of job growth, and the average Unemployment Rate under Obama (9.0%) has been the highest (by far) of any President since FDR during the Great Depression.

By contrast, Bush had 46 months of job growth after the turnaround from 9/11 where we had 7,867,000 jobs added, and the average Unemployment Rate for Bush was only 5.33% - barely above the 5.2% for Clinton, who had the advantage of a recovering economy when he was elected, as well as the jobs added during the 'Dot.com bubble'.

Actually, Bush's IQ, at 125 (based in SAT scores), was higher than John F. Kennedy and John Kerry. A score of 132 could have gotten him into MENSA, the high IQ society. Bush is also the only President with an MBA Degree. We don't have any information on Obama's college admission scores, but they must be pretty bad for him to keep hiding them. O roy don't you have some construction job to be doing right now? After all its always those types that whine and mop and complain because you worked hard in some dead end job and didn't get paid enough so it's everyone elses fault but fail to realize that the rich think common people are like cockroaches for thier bidding so their income should reflect such? Cant be the corporations fault though can't it. Jesus was a socialist silly man:

Now to one of the best proofs and that is found in Matthew 25:31-46: The Parable of the Sheep and the Goats. For those that don’t know this one the key statement is as follows:

41"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.' 44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ 45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ 46"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life”.

Finally, the teachings continued after the death of Jesus, the best example of the Utopian Socialism being the following by James found in 2:1-7:

1My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don't show favoritism. 2Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in. 3If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, "Here's a good seat for you," but say to the poor man, "You stand there" or "Sit on the floor by my feet," 4have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? 5Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him? 6But you have insulted the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court? 7Are they not the ones who are slandering the noble name of him to whom you belong?

44 And all that believed were together, and had all things in common;
45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

Acts 2: 44, 45

Jesus despised the rich. In fact the bible said it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to go to heaven. Did you leave these out for a particular reason? Jesus called on his disciples to give to the poor all their possesions and take a life of simplicity and SHARE EVERYTHING. Socialist much? Absoultely.

Big Jeff...

Glad you got a big guffaw out of what I wrote. And by the way, I have never described Barack Obama as a "community organizer"...not once in my lifetime. I have always described him as totally devoid of any leadership abilities, which has been very apparent over the past couple of months. I have also described him as extrmely petulant and disdainful of others..which is why he has zero positive relationships with anyone in the Senate or House in Washington DC. And doesn't it work so well.

I will give the man and his team credit for being able to get folks into the voting booth...yessirree Bob, the man and his team can do that. Can't read or write?...doesn't matter, just get in the booth and pull the lever we tell you to pull. Non hablas the language?....doesn't matter, pull this lever. High school dreamer, daddy pays all the bills?...just get in the booth and vote for the skinny cool guy. And the most important answer to a doubtful voter "don't worry, you won't be asked to spell anyone's name".

No problem that Romney didn't impress you, Jeff. So I'm sure it's not a problem that some don't feel a large number of folks who vote like you do aren't very impressive either.

Ailes is right about Biden. He's even dumber than an ashtray. Remember when he said this?

"Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?"

"If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator."

"I'm the decider, and I decide what is best.

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.

"There's an old saying in Tennessee -- I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee -- that says, fool me once, shame on --shame on you. Fool me -- you can't get fooled again."

"Too many good docs are getting out of the business. Too many OB-GYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across this country."

"You work three jobs? ... Uniquely American, isn't it? I mean, that is fantastic that you're doing that." --to a divorced mother of three.

"I'll be long gone before some smart person ever figures out what happened inside this Oval Office."

"For every fatal shooting, there were roughly three non-fatal shootings. And, folks, this is unacceptable in America. It's just unacceptable. And we're going to do something about it."

"I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family."

Remember, he wasn't even Vice-President back then. He was only the President. Stupid Biden.

      Charlie,

Fox News still has nine out of the top 10 programs. It has spent 11 consecutive years as the top-rated news channel. Its 6 a.m. show drew almost double the ratings of CNN's top-ranking primetime show.

Yup, it's a terrible network isn't it? You should go read their articles and then read the altered versions of stories MSNBC and CNN put out. Remember when NBC altered the 911 call by George Zimmerman to try and paint him as a racist? NBC is being sued for defamation and will likely lose.

Bringing up Bush every time someone points out inadequacies in the current President is counterproductive. Most conservatives quote people like you on blogs showing that the supporters of the left can't think of anything positive to pin directly to an action of Obama and have to resort to changing the subject or circular arguments.

If he's so great, just say what he did that's so great. To resort to demeaning others to bring your own guy up is childish. Bush isn't president any more. Democrats have been the majority in power for over 6 years now. Deficits are up, debt is through the ceiling, tax rates are higher than anywhere else in the world, health insurance rates up over 20%, unemployment is stagnant, over 50% of the country relies on gov't handouts, 2 wars still going, Gitmo still open, US citizens being killed without trial, military drones over our own soil, no budget in 4 years, sequester being used to villify Republicans by targeting cuts that would hurt us rather than find 2% in common sense cuts that Obama campaigned to do "line by line", bailing out the 2%ers with taxpayer $, redrawing racial, gender, and other lines back to where we were in the 60s, making it politically correct to verbally assault any ethnic/gender/religious group if they don't vote like you do, etc, etc. Just how long do Democrats need to fix "Bush's mess" that started when Pelosi & Reid started authoring all of the bills that came across his desk?

Those of you who just complain about Fox but have never watched anything on it absolutely should not talk about being one sided.

NDAA made the patriot act even worse.

Bailed out the banks just like GWB wanted and did

Bailed out GM just like GWB wanted

Continued GWB failed economic policies over and over an over again.

Fixed nothing. The reality though is GWB and Obama aren't really to blame except they didn't veto enough.. Congress is to blame and has been for over 200 years.

When President George W. Bush played golf, and rode his bicycle, FoxNews called him "athletic." When our current President Barack Obama plays golf and basketball, FoxNews calls him "lazy." Two men, engaging in the same, or similar pursuits to keep their bodies and minds fit, and healthy. But entirely opposite characterizations of those activities by Roger Ailes and the cable network he runs.

What difference does Roger Ailes sees when he looks at these two men. Whatever could it be?

      • Well, Ailes was a media consultant for Republican presidents Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and George H. W. Bush; but political partisanship may not be the whole story.
      • Ailes was born and grew up in the factory town of Warren, Ohio; ah, yes now we're getting warmer.
      • Ailes guided George H. W. Bush to victory over Michael Dukakis, and Ailes scripted and produced all of Bush's broadcast spots in the general-election campaign, including the virulently racist so-called Willie Horton ad; although Ailes now denies involvement only with that one ad, of course (claiming all of the others as his).

      "Lazy" you say, Mr. Ailes?

"Racist" I say, Mr. Ailes. Own it!

There is a difference between Bush and Obama. Bush played just 24 rounds of golf in his EIGHT years in office. Obama has play 115 in FOUR years.

Bush spent a cumulative year and a half on vacation at his ranch in 8 years. We heard about it all the time. He showered the media with photo ops of him clearing brush and whatever else you do when your hired help already did the dirty work.

I can remember on multiple occasions that bills went to his desk for signature, only to wait a week or more for him to fly back from his ranch to sign them. This, during a time of war.

How many times has that happened with the current President?

Yes, with Congressional support, not obstruction.

Five vacancies occurred in his eight years. Five appointments were made. Two vacancies have occurred during President Obama's four years, two appointments were made. You aren't arguing that Mr. Obama should start bumping-off Justices of the Supreme Court in order to 'up his appointments numbers', are you?

Your arguments are bewildering. You do understand how the legislative process works, right?

Congress writes, passes and funds legislation .... which is then presented to the President for his signature.

The piece of this which is missing in your assessment of Mr. Obama's 'achievements' in his four years versus Mr. Eisenhower's 'achievements' in eight years, is that Mr. Eisenhower actually received bipartisan written, passed and funded legislation from Congress.

If Mr. Obama had been presented legislation creating the Interstate Highway system, he would have signed it, too. Mr. Obama hasn't even been able to get the Republicans in Congress to agree to infrastructure funding to repair the highways and bridges which were built by that Interstate Highway System bill.

Why not try simple logic, and parsing your own arguments with the filter of logic, rather than posting embarrassingly hollow arguments on Newsvine which only really demonstrate your inability to think objectively?

I suspect this may come as a surprise to you, but it is not the job of this President of the United States, or any President, to babysit uncivil and petulant, hyper-partisan adults who refuse to behave like grownups or to do the jobs they were elected (hired) to do, ...in attempt "to get both sides to work together."

Adults are responsible for their own behaviors. Your argument that the President of the United States is responsible for correcting the churlish behavior of other adults who refuse to behave and find compromise, is illogical and superficial.

If, as appears to be the case, you are arguing that Mr. Boehner, Mr. McConnell and Mr. Cantor are just reasonable, civil, non-partisan adults who are ready, willing and eager to reach out and find consensus and compromise with the Democrats in Congress, and the President of the United States, ... then you have an objectivity, issue. Logic does not seem to be a concept embraced or employed in your thought processes and comments.

Here's a clue: You cannot present a balanced, objective and nonpartisan argument by employing only the rhetoric of unbalanced, subjective partisanship.

MSNBC just refuses to cover ANYTHING that may bring a Democrat into a bad light. If you only watch/read liberal media, you're voluntarily letting yourself be indoctrinated to whatever "the man" wants you to believe. At least people who watch Fox News read both sides of the media spectrum and are smart enough to not make "haha you only watch Fox News" claims to people responding to an NBC article they just finished reading. Fair and Balanced? Marketing statements exsist to deceive. New and improved is usually the same crap in a different bottle. Any product with an in your face tagline is instantly suspect. It's an attempt to manage perception of a product. I have spoke with many Fox viewers who parrot that line. Fox viewers have been found to be the most uninformed media consumers in America. They had people convinced Romney would win right up to the moment, and after Obama was announced. They are not a truthful organization. It's speaks volumes about Ailes that he created a product aimed at the most ignorant, angry, gullible group of people to manipulate them to serve his political and financial interest. He's brilliant. Evil, but brilliant.

Our nations cities are teeming with high school dropouts, single unemployed mothers, and the homeless... and our nation's urban educational systems have their hands constantly held out for more cash to try to educate their students, who are dropping out of school by the tens of thousands. The Obama-Biden ticket absolutely dominated the polls in the nation's cities from coast to coast.

And you're saying that's where all the 'informed' voters live ??? As opposed to those horribly "uninformed" Fox viewers ???

In my state (CT) in 2010, a Democrat won the election for governor by about 6,000 votes out of 1.13 million votes cast. In the six poorest cities in this state he won by over 70,000 votes, thus handing him the election. Are those six "poorest" cities where all the 'informed' voters live...as opposed to all those "uninformed...ignorant...and gullible" voters who live in the state's suburbs...and pay all the state's bills ???

You folks need to start taking your act on the comedy club circuit, where satire, farce, and fantasy can actually earn you a dollar.

Eric, you want fair and balanced?

Where is NBC's reporting on the email from Odumbo with instructions to make the sequester as painful as possible on the American people! All in the interests of a political agenda.

"We have gone on record with a notification to Congress and whoever else that ‘APHIS would eliminate assistance to producers in 24 States in managing wildlife damage to the aquaculture industry, unless they provide funding to cover the costs.’ So, it is our opinion that however you manage that reduction, you need to make sure you are not contradicting what we said the impact would be.

Of course we wouldn't hear about THAT on NBC, would we... Just imagine the reaction had Bush done something that stupid and evil. Think NBC would have reported it???

OK, I'll respond to your dog whistle racism. Your insinuating that poor uneducated black people concentrated in the cities are the only reason Obama won. College educated people are concentrated in cities as well. People that want a more equitable society voted for Obama. People from all walks want our society to work for everybody. The Rethugs have only old white people. It's funny all you Rushbots have been picking up his low information voter talking point. It's such a laugh for Rush and Fox viewers to call anyone low information.

Calling a black man " lazy" has racial overtones which is not acceptable in this day and age, especially when you are talking about the POTUS. It explains volumes about Fox News, not that the rest of us didnt already know. Calling Biden "dumb" is a reflection on the stupidity of the idiot who is flapping his lips. So all in all, more of the same coming from the people behind Fox News. Tune in tomorrow when they say that the FLOTUS has a big behind.

Aislle said that Jesus was most likely not a liberal and referred that liberals aren't caring !! Yep thats so true the Republicans are the caring party they want to cut funding for the elderly, handicap and needy and give the welfare to the oil companies, big corporations and the wealthy instead. Yep thats what Jesus would do isn't it ?

They'd be correct about the "big behind" part.

And stuff your 'racial overtones'. "Lazy" is "not acceptable in this day and age". And it explains nothing about "Fox News" or anyone else who uses the word "lazy".

By the way, writing "POTUS" and "FLOTUS" is pretty lazy too.

Ten Minutes for both Ailes and Murdoch are Ten minutes too long for the well-being of our Beloved Nation!!

These two hate-mongers / fear-mongers have done more to destroy the unity of our Beloved Nation than any other identifiable force. Their sole focus is the almighty dollar and they could care less about how their distortions of the truth, half-truths and outright lies injure the health and well-being of the United States of America - all they care about is how Ailes and Murdoch can multiply their ill-gotten gains..

Republican/Tea Bigots think health care is only for the rich, although their own Heritage Foundation designed large portions of it. Hypocrite much?

Republicans run from the gun lobby rather than seek sane gun regulations and background checks? Morons much?

Lets be honest ..the crew at FOX are nothing but a pack of media "hoes" who have sold their souls for "facetime". They no what they read and broadcast is pure BS and propaganda but they dont care if it really is fair and balanced (what a joke) as long as they get paid. I would love to be a fly on the wall around that water cooler when they get their scripts in the morning. The laughter must be overwhelming. But as long as they keep getting paid they dont really care what they are handed to read to us.

I, for one firmly, beleive our media should not belong to any private company or individual..it should be owned by the country so it is free to do honest reporting without fear of retaliation by the station owners. I have to read the UK newspapers to get honest reporting about our country..alot of which we never even report. Pitiful!

It wasn't that long ago when Peter Jennings, you know, one of the lead anchors of the vaunted ABC News, basically admitted to "being in bed" with Mr. Obama. Seems to me that the media "hoes" are as follows: NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, Huffpost. These "progressive" idiots would kill thier first born to spit shine Mr. Obama's shoes. State run media may not be the best idea. If we were to bring back the fairness doctrine half of news outlets would have to change their programing, or go out of business. The death of this rule turned our news media into opinion outlets.

The Fairness Doctrine was a policy of the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC), introduced in 1949, that required the holders of broadcast licenses to both present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was, in the Commission's view, honest, equitable and balanced. The FCC decided to eliminate the Doctrine in 1987, and in August 2011 the FCC formally removed the language that implemented the Doctrine.

It seems like the intent here is to keep attention focused on the stupdity of anything "Fox News", "Republicans", and "Tea Party". This way, nobody focuses on the high educational level of the average Democrat voter or the fact that the lower an individual's income level, the greater the chance that one votes for a Democrat candidate.

My bad "democant", I certainly didn't mean to denigrate Mr. Jennings in any way, just got the wrong anchor. Mr. Jennings had a journalistic integrity that's rapidly going the way of the dinosaur. However, my point was that the liberal media are still obamagastic about this clown.

I think it is a close tie over the Obama's dominating trait: Arrogance or laziness. One alone would do him in, but with both as key character traits, he can give up his Lincoln like legacy. The only claim to fame is being the first mulatto in office. Big deal, a Kenyan drunk got to third base with white trash. Collateral effects: Barry.

Biden knows more about public policy, politics and the workings of Washington better than most anyone there and for our President, he has done more good for this Country, has done more to change this Country for the better and has worked harder than any President in history. If you think he vacations too much, then you should look at the records of the other Presidents. They all had their private estates, ranches, etc. that they would spend most of their tenure at. But even so, do you really think a President is EVER off duty? Do you really think any President is EVER off duty? They are not.

The fact that ANYONE would actually defend Biden tells me a number of things. Everytime this clown opens his mouth, especially on the global stage, I cringe. I just hope he doesn't "put us all in chains"...

Typical of the "brains" behind Fox News to resort to name calling and truly mindless, petty, unhelpful character assassination. By saying these things he is criticizing we the people. He is saying we elected a lazy president (racist code!) and a vp who is as dumb as an ash tray (meaningless gibberish). We did neither - we elected better men than the right has ever put forward as candidates. Mr Ailes, get over your monumental, landslide loss and start helping your precious Republican party change in ways that might allow it to one day (far from now) to be electable once again. Cheap shots at those far greater than yourself will never achieve your goals - that is if you have any goals other than making money for you and your rancid "news" show.

And speaking of name calling...how about the ravenous fanatics on the liberal side that call Republicans names? I often see liberal postings that use obscene names to discribe people whose opinion they oppose. That's just childish in most cases and does nothing to aid in compromise. I personally think Biden would be better at stand-up comedy, based on some of the outrageous comments he's made that encourage thinks like shooting a shotgun while standing on a balcony to scare off intruders. and before you start the flaming...I voted independent party because I felt that neither the Democrats or Republicans were up to the task of bringing this country back to the center and being able to compromise.

I'm not going to sweat the intelligence estimate of the guy who cast the nerve to call his Fox propoganda channel news. Broad and consistent study has always pegged Fox viewers as the most ignorant about news events.

Dave was referring to the person in this article. Defending a 'wrong' because 'others do it too' is very silly. Would you let your child do something wrong because he/she says 'everyone else is doing it'? Stay on topic, please.

Roger Ailes lacks the intelligence and credibility to pass judgement on anyone!

Roger and FAUX NEWS are a propaganda organization attempting to discredit facts.

concerned usually snotty a-s; We are sorry; we judge Biden by what he says. I forgot that liberals always lie. Biden's description of how an "assault weapon" is fired would be a laugh if it was a first grader talking. By the way, an ashtray CAN be more intelligent than Biden. They make them with little blowers and filters to gather smoke. Biden could not figure out how to use such device; it has a switch which must be turned on.

And yet his boys in the GOP couldn't beat Obama and Biden the first time, nor the 2nd time, couldn't stop the Affordable Healthcare Act or the Sequester, nor the tax increase for the wealthy. Now what does that say about the GOP? What's lazier than lazy and dumber than dumb as an ashtray? Oh yeah, Romney, Boehner and Cantor; Rush Limbaugh ... and apparently Ailes.

Judging by that photo, Roger Ailes is both lazy and dumb. In fact, it looks like he could barely move if his life depended on it. And if Biden is as dumb as an ashtray, Ailes must be dumber than the ashes in the ashtray. He would make an ashtray look pretty darn smart in comparison.
