California man busted in grocery bathroom with porn, cocaine and small child

A very eventful trip to a Safeway grocery store ended with a California man's arrest after police say they found him in a bathroom with porn, drugs, and a child.

Police in El Cerrito, Calif. were responding to a shoplifting report early Sunday morning when alerted that a man had been spotted in the women's bathroom with a small child, a pornographic magazine and the heavy smell of smoke.

The 32-year-old El Sobrante, Calif. man was found by police in the men's bathroom, where he admitted to having been in the women's bathroom where he smoked a marijuana cigarette laced with cocaine, according to the incident report. Officers determined the man was under the influence of a controlled substance and arrested him.

The Californian also admitted to stealing a bottle of soda from the Safeway.

A young girl originally discovered the drug and porn-filled binge when she entered the women's bathroom. The girl told her mother, who alerted store employees.

Police just happened to already be on scene after responding to a complaint about a woman who had stolen batteries from the grocery store

The whereabouts of the child with him are unknown, according to NBCBayArea.com.

Police arrested the unidentified man on suspicion of theft, drug possession, possessing of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Did they lose this kid between the bathroom and the front door?

"With porn, cocaine and small child"

Very missleading headline, he was not with a child, child walked in on him while he was smoking and drinking soda.

He was in the company of another child, when he was walked in upon by the little girl.

Read the NBCBayArea link, and don't criticize others before reading all the facts.

only in SF? are you kidding? i just came from an article where a indiana woman sold her 1.5 year old baby girl to a man who raped the child and was using her to make pornograpgic videos. people abusing children in sexual ways is common and people get away with it all the time. its time we castrate predetors and bring back pubic stonings.

Alcohol used to be illegal - should that be legal?

What about guns? This guy didn't kill or harm anyone.

It's all about moderation and personal responsibility - some people go too far, don't use that to judge others who don't.

Please do not mistake this post for me thinking those should be illegal.

Did you miss the part that said the marijuana was laced with cocaine? Cocaine isn't legal. Find me a story that says they found a guy in a women's bathroom with a porn mag and kid after smoking unadulterated marijuana and you may have an argument.

There isn't any "unadulterated marijuana" on the streets today. Pot has been modified and is seven times stronger, than what was grown by mother nature.

Well then Arizona Tumbleweed, I'd suggest doing research into how both marijuana and alcohol affect the human body and you'll see that alcohol does way more damage. Look into the research of alcohol and domestic violence and drunk driving, etc.

Alcohol is way more damaging all the way around than marijuana is or ever could be and is only illegal due to people like the Hearsts. Our founding fathers used marijuana in a variety of ways.

sadie: Alcohol AND pot are not good for anyone. Nether one should be consumed by smart persons.

Of course, If you're weak, you may NEED one or both.

Alcohol is far worst than marijuana. Do some research and you will find out that alcohol damages the body more than marijuana ever could.

@Arizona, many people drink but it's not needed. It's a choice and it's an individual's to make. If you don't drink, it's your choice. And last time I checked, people are still allowed to make choices.

I don't need either one, but that doesn't mean I don't sometimes like to enjoy them. You do realize that there are many doctors, lawyers, scientists, presidents, etc that have and still do enjoy both - so your "smart persons" comment doesn't carry much weight, as truly smart people know that you can enjoy them in moderation.

Your comment about weak people and their needs can be correct - but a weak person could also feel something like they need to over-eat or carry a gun to find their escape or security. A weakness such as that can be manifested in a variety of ways.

If the world were entirely full of smart people, marijuana would be legal as it has a variety of uses - from rope/fabric to medication and guns would be totally unnecessary, as a world of entirely smart people would not have violence and therefore, no need for guns. I would like you to tell my gf's brother suffering from cancer that basically would not eat without use of THC that it's "not good for anyone" - but then again, you'd probably never listen to him or his doctor, because you already have all the answers.

Now, please don't read into this that I am anti-gun, as I believe in each individual's right to possess one (well, with the exception of say a convicted murderer or such). I believe that "bad guys" having to contemplate if I have one in my place is a good thing.

Bro, I've worked the last 27 days straight, averaging about 10 hrs a day...sorry, but I can't do that "living stoned".

Obviously, you realize I'm right, or you would have replied with a comment to any one of the things I've stated. It's ok to read someone's post and go, you know what, you do make some good points - but alas, you're possibly too weak to admit you may be wrong. I'm going to guess that you carry concealed or always have a gun close, right? But you always "feel better" when your gun is close, just like that drug addict does with their drug.

Being able to articulate thoughts and valid talking points are not excuses bro, it's like having a conversation.

I'm an atheist, but even I know Jesus turned water into wine. Ignoring alcohol as part the human condition is naive and moronic. Only a weak mind refuses to acknowledge the benefit of it in moderation.

Arizona...you do realize the man voluntarily told police that the joint was laced with cocaine, right? Last I checked, no one ever wanted that to be legal and recreational users of pot don't mess with the stuff. Recreational users---like sleepinsadie---are usually not the types you find in the bathroom at Safeway, as high as a kite either. I know many even if I am not one myself and they come from all walks of life and are not the people you see in the news for drug violations. Those people were stupid before they ever started doing drugs.

Tell me DesotoKim, what does a single parent household or public education have to do with anything? I was raised in both and I am certainly not smoking a joint with a porn mag and a child in a public bathroom. In fact I am a fully functioning responsible human being who makes an honest living working my butt off to help support my family and in a health happy marriage. You people who think you can criticize a whole population of people to prove a point just because you are a self-rightous a*hole who thinks he is better than everyone because your mommy and daddy never divorced and sent you to a snooty private school, are no better than the rest of us. The next time you try to make a point about something try going with the facts instead of making up ridiculous insults that only make you look like an incompetant a*hole.

Even if the OP made a really stupid comment, I've seen dumb kids come from homes with both parents, private schools, and highly respected colleges as a matter of fact. If you really live your life that way and judge others so easily DesotoKim, I think you should refrain from having kids as well. As tsander called you an incompetent a-hole, we don't need more of those in this world.

Police need the authority to give severe beatings. It would allow them to release a lot of pent up emotions, it would result in happier and healthier police officers and would unclog our jails and courtrooms while saving taxpayers a bundle, while also allowing the justice system to work more effectively. It would also result in a better police\citizen interface, with much less disrespect to the police officers. I am aware that occasionally people may die from their beatings or even possibly be falsely accused or innocent. Those officers will be urged to be more careful. As for the drug problem, we can win that war overnight and solve the budget problem at the same time. Legalize all drugs. But this would also have a lot of other very good outcomes for society, so it may not happen yet.

Eat those grapes and don't pay for them, that is against the law. Go ahead go grazing! They got you on camera, if they want they can have you arrested, worked in a store, use to sit and watch people if you get out of had the manager would pull you into the back show you the video, and make you pay for the food or threaten to call the cops.

Whenever I'm horny or want to get high, my thoughts naturally turn to . . . the women's restroom at Safeway. But I've noticed that there is often a waiting line nowadays. Nobody goes there anymore - it's too crowded.

The land where everything belongs to those who did not earn it and it is their right to own it, so, what is the big problem..California is famous around the world for those three items and free government entitlements..So I am not sure what law the guy broke..In New York City the Mayor would give him a Hero's Medal for taking that Soda and preventing some weak minded liberal socialist Demoncrat from drinking, it, their such children there the Mayor has to tell them everything.. Hollywood produces more Porn in any given day than married men have sex with their wives in the U.S.. SO just what did he go wrong...Oh, was he smoking in public??That must have been it....

And then like a good little dope dealer, she splits before the cops arrive. Find the kid and you'll have your culprit. Just joking.

I’m disappointed in US News & NBC fo not catching this. What, Rafferty was hired from the National Enquirer? Are the tabloids now the model hard news emulates?

Where’s Elvis? What about them flying saucers? Man has baby, huh?
