The suspect in a car crash that killed a pregnant New York City woman, her husband and ultimately her baby was transported from Pennsylvania, where he was arrested, back to Brooklyn on Thursday, local media reported.
Police say Julio Acevedo, 44, fled the scene after a speeding BMW he was driving slammed into a livery cab carrying Nachman and Raizy Glauber, both 21, on Sunday. The couple died that day, and their premature son died on Monday.
Acevedo waived extradition at a hearing in Allentown, Pa., on Thursday morning and was taken to the 78th Precinct station in Brooklyn, according to the New York Daily News.
In the hearing, Acevedo told the judge he had finished the 11th grade, was unemployed and lives in Brooklyn with his mother, The Associated Press reported.
Acevedo, who served about a decade in prison for manslaughter in the 1990s, surrendered to authorities on Wednesday in the parking lot of a convenience store in Bethlehem, Pa.
Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes told the Daily News that his office would levy the highest possible charge on the man.
“When we arraign the defendant, we will announce that we have charged him with the most serious crime available based on the facts and a pending further review of the evidence,” Hynes said.

But he must have run and tried to hide or else what was he doing in Allentown, PA when the accident occurred in Brooklyn, NY?
He ran because he was drunk which would carry a stiffer penatly than just fleeing the scene. Now they have no way of knowing whether he was drunk. He knew to run because convicts understand the legal system. Unfortunately our legal system created this problem - there's no incentive to stay if you've been drinking - running so they cannot detect alcohol in your system could ultimately get you a lighter sentence depending on the nature of the accident. However in this case 3 people were killed so he's pretty much toast anyways.
It is so sad that someone who has chosen to make nothing of himself has now been responsible for 4 deaths (including the prior manslaughter). This individual should never experience another day of freedom again, lest the body count rise due to his irresponsible and selfish behavior.
So much media attention to one accident that kills two people...Do you know how many people are killed in car accidents caused by someone every day in the US? Why this much attention for this guy? Is it because it happened in New York? What is wrong with you MSNBC? Why not print the names and faces of kids who are abandoned, killed or kidnapped in the US every year...who are not in New York?
Let the family of this young couple mourn, and let the courts decide on the driver's, who caused the accident, punishment. This is not a pre -meditated crime or a hate crime or a crime with a motive. This is a guy who caused an accident then fled the scene. Why hang him for that? Who in corporate America, including a bank that was helping drug dealers and illegal gun leaders, launder their money and screwed our economy got put in jail...let alone hanged?
America is going after petty criminals in the harshest of ways...while the big criminals are being allowed to roam soctt free. Nice classism at work in the policing and judiciary!
America puts drug addicts and mentally unwell people in jail, executes innocent or mentally challenged people, gives minorities and Black long sentences for minor crimes, denies poor and middle class people first or second chance...And it beats up on the small guy...and then lets the big crooks, in expensive suits, Rolexes and cars, get away with murder, cons, scams and outright lying.

Well, if screwed out of my money, I can recover, I have bought a lesson. Death? Much more difficult!
There was a case here in Texas recently where the driver fled the scene after hitting and killing a pedestrian (a 30 year old woman walking home). She has walked with ten years of probation. Not a day in jail. There was video of her getting drunk at bars that night, but since there was no test done (she fled the scene) she basically got away with it. Her defense was that she got distracted and she didn't know she hit a person (right). If a deer hit my windshield, I would have stopped to help the poor animal. She was young, female and he dad could afford the lawyers (former state congressman). I am sure this guy will end up in jail, and he should, but it just shows how unequal justice really is.

I believe you are correct SteveJ, community position and status does change things. But Laura was 16-17 years old. Teens do foolish things. Ted Kennedy was not a teen when his passenger died. A damn shame justice isn't fair as it should be!

I would think that New York will consider that Mr. Acevedo actually did them a favor by killing the 'original 50 cent' who was a street thug, hoodlum, drug dealer and gang member. They should give him one year off his life sentence.
NYC does not get to consider anything, Consideration belongs solely to Emperor Bloomberg! Yesterday some twit was ranting that the "livery car" which was hit by the accused was "Illegal" Now I know better, the Emperor would never permit anything illegal in his town. So there are no illegal cabs in NYC...maybe a few cabbies who haven't paid the right official.

I really thought he would kill himself while on the run. Its hard to imagine being able to live with yourself after something like this - I certainly couldn't. What would make him want to continue to live this life he is living? Can you imagine what will happen to him from the other prision inmates?
This man has killed 4 people now, where the definition of worthless is this mans picture is in its place.
In our area, there seems to be a rash of hit and runs. I especially hate this crime. How can anyone just leave a victim (victims in this case) in the street to die like an animal? How can anyone be so selfish, cold, and heartless?
I think it is not having a conscience! I came very close to hitting a faun last year, I would have been very upset had I not been able avoid hitting it. (Modern brakes do the job) I think developing a conscience is taught. This guy obviously skipped that class. I notice he head was retracted into his shirt-collar, possibly covering the neck tattoos prevalent on MS13 members? There is a lot more to this than we hear from the liberal PC press.

If there was an independent press Bloomberg would be finished as a mayor and every other politician who touted their sanctuary cities would be out on their ear.
But hey - ignore everything else and full speed to amnesty. This guy needs it so he can get out and kill again.
And nothing about each day there being 25 other murders by illegal aliens EVERY DAY in the US. That wouldn't be good for amnesty.
