I really think that we need to completely change our legal punishment for this kind of crime. What both of these individuals did with an 18 month old should be punished by death! I am not quite sure what age of a victim I would make the death penalty mandatory, but, I am sure that someone would be willing to decide it! Then if the victim was closer to puberty, the penalty would be life in prison with no chance of parole and there would be NO special area for the molester to go, just general population! After age 12 or so the perp would also be forced to spend at least 30 years in general prison population. After age 16 the current rape and statutory rape laws would be enforced. There would be exceptions for age appropriate consensual sex, but, child pornography would not be tolerated in the least!

I believe anyone who engages in this type of behavior should get an automatic mandatory life sentence. Put them in their little cage, WELD the door shut, give them food, water, new set of clothes once a year, and that's all. No TV, radio, magazines, books, visitors, mail, nothing else. If they go crazy and off themselves after a while, good. It's what they deserve. Depravity like this needs a punishment so severe and longlasting that even the worst losers are afraid of it. A death penalty is a quick end to an evil among us, make the punishment so repulsive even they are afraid of it. They are mutants, both of them, and need to be treated as such.

Faerieschyld, I've always considered Oprah a feminist too. Especially considering her sexist bias against boys who were sexually abused.

During the 80's I worked with an innovative group of Chicago men who were sexually abused as children. We organized the first group therapy for men in the city at the Ravenswood Hospital. We participated in panel discussions at various conferences, including a National Department of Children and Family Services Convention and the Phyllis Levy Radio Show, nationwide at WLS. I also wrote articles for the Chicago Sun-Times including an essay with the late Jeffrey Zaslow.

In 1986 we phone-blitzed the Oprah Show producers to include men on her programs about child sexual abuse. They actually complied. Mike Lew, who currently works with Male Survivor, was the expert and appeared with a few of his patients. I spoke briefly from the audience. That was the first, and last, show to include male survivors until her final season. By excluding boys from the discussion, the media and political advocacy groups further isolate male victims and enable predators.

Back then, when I spoke out and wrote newspaper articles about child sexual abuse of boys, I was literally told by feminists I deserved to be raped as a child because I was part of the "patriarchal system of oppression." "Now you know how it feels," I was told.

Rape has little to do with the real or perceived evils of “male privilege,” “the patriarchy” or “rape culture.” Most sexual abusers, male and female, were molested themselves and/or suffered some other form of child abuse. Platitudes of academic ideologies blaming rape on inherent male societal causes are long-winded and vindictive. And do nothing to prevent child abuse or rape.

In her last season's 200 Man Show Oprah stated it was the "first of it's kind" on national television and that men were "finally ready to come forward and talk to her." Nonsense we were there, on her show close to 30 years ago. Either she's stupid, in denial or she's lying. But she hung boys out to rot like every other feminist organization I know.

So you tell me, what's the feminist motivation there? Revenge? Ratings? Politics?

Brown's decision was to release offenders early rather than build more prisons. As a result we have had hundreds of sex offenders released early. What's more, if they violate their probation, they are given a slap on the wrist because we cannot house all of them. You know why Lindsay Lohan isnt behind bars? Unless you are a violent offender, you will only see a couple of days of your sentence rather than the months you got on your sentence. We have had numerous cases just recently of criminals getting out of prison early, and they ended up killing someone. Read up on Ka Pasasouk for what our liberal leaders are causing here in Cali. And there have been many cases of sex offenders removing their gps trackers, not getting in trouble, and committing more rapes and child molestations. No liberals do not support pedophiles. I completely agree. But they do create a system where offenders get out early to commit these crimes again and again.

Like aborting babies that are 24 weeks, that's just plain murder. Many babies survive at that age, some even earlier, after having to be born early. I'm not pro-abortion on just not wanting the baby, but can tolerate 12 weeks. I don't understand how can anyone with a conscious can do so at that age, knowing the baby is going to be dismembered & tossed, just because the baby might be an inconvenience.

Not that I am pro abortion but I do empathize and understand why some women would opt to not bring a child into this world. For the pro-lifers I have to ask where they are when they stop an abortion from happening? Do they then take responsibility for the unwanted child and provide emotional as well as economical support for the child who was allowed to live? It's easy to judge but difficult to step up and help.

Rev is right in that some feminists are like this. I have heard many feminists talk about how men cant be raped and boys should feel how it is like to be a woman. They also avoid and try to pass the blame on any abuse case involving a woman. Regarding the 1 1/2 year old, the only "good" thing about this whole story (other than these people getting caught) is that permanent memory doesn't really begin to form until around age 2, so there's every chance that she will never remember any part of this and won't have that baggage to carry around for the rest of her life. Hopefully she'll be placed in a good, loving home and go on to live a normal and happy life.

Capitol punnishment isn't a sin, not a social crime against humanity as so many seem to assume. Think of it this way, what if these two hadn't been caught? The child is exploited her entire childhood thinking it was "normal" behavior or that they somehow deserved the abuse. I doubt it. The Bible doesn't say anything about child abuse other than the story of Lot and his daughters, where "his daughters did seduce him in his drunkeness." Any therapist will correctly state that Lot got drunk and raped his daughters. Not much help there.

The other scant reference to child abuse in the New Testament is something about casting "those who would harm the little ones into the ocean with a millstone around their neck."

That's pretty vague. And considering how much damage child abuse actually causes, individually and socially, it seems like "Thou shalt not abuse thy children" should have been the First Commandment. If people obeyed that one the others might not have been necessary.

My moral objection to the death penalty rests mainly on the fact that humans aren't perfect, and mistakes can be made that can and sometimes have lead to death penalty convictions for an innocent person. While I do believe horrific people like this deserve death, I'm not willing to take the chance of accidentally killing a wrongfully convicted person. Until we have a 100% infallible justice system, we shouldn't have a 100% irrevocable penalty.

Comparing Stockholm Syndrom to patterned pedophilia is only viable if and in the case that the children are kept locked up, hidden from contact and barred from all forms of media. Most pedophiles are men, though in about 10% of cases women, as in this case, are involved. Within the home however, between 25 -30% of sexual abuse is perpetrated by women.

Women dominate all other forms of child abuse than sexual hands down. If men were as abusive toward children as women we would have heard about it a long time ago.
