Subscribe to RSSAfter an hours long standoff at an Oregon motel, police announced late Tuesday they have captured the 26-year-old ex-con accused of murdering his elderly grandparents.
Michael “Chad” Boysen had been the subject of a manhunt throughout the Pacific Northwest after his grandparents were found dead late Saturday. Thursday morning police moved in on the Westshore Oceanfront Motel in Lincoln City, Ore., after an employee recognized Boysen's face on the news.
Police spent much of the day trying to peacefully lure Boysen out of the room he was holed up in. A police spokesperson tweeted around 7:30 local time that Oregon officials had taken the suspect into custody.
Boysen had barricaded himself in his room as Oregon state police attempted to negotiate with him via a bullhorn. Police then used a water cannon to elicit a response from the suspect, the Associate Press reports.
Boysen had been described as “extremely dangerous” and has a warrant out for his arrest on suspicion of first-degree murder.
He was staying with his grandparents in the Seattle suburb of Renton, Wash., after serving a prison sentence for robbery. The grandparents threw a welcome back party for him the night before they were found dead.
Police said the grandparents were not shot but declined to provide other details about their killings, pending autopsies.

I don't understand why this is news,he didn't shoot them. They (the grandparents ) were trying to give their grandson (an ex-con) a second chance. So Sorry for the Grandparents, not so sorry for the grandson. Their probably won't be a lot of comments on this story because there wasn't a firearm used.

what has happened lately ? ever since the 12-20-12 happened and everybody survived, did some people just snap and lost all sense of reality and yet all the deaths are not assault weapons related, however the AR-15 is still the elephant in the room when its the least used in murder !
or is it the media reporting every little incident and trying to convince the American public that ALL gun are bad and must be confiscated in order for people to feel safe ?

There is so very much missing from this story. Most importantly, what motivated Boysen to murder his elderly grandparents??? Terribly sad.

I think this incident is proof that all guns must be banned, because even though guns were freely available for this couple to have, to defend themselves, they did not. So there is no use in having guns for sale. All gun owners should turn in their weapons now in return for a tax credit on their income taxes. Do it before the credits expire.

The bigger importance of this is that he is an ex-con....released, rehabilitated, and he broke the law....again. And was trying to arm himself, to break the law. A criminal, committing criminal acts. That is the bigger part of this story....how many crimes are committed by repeat offenders. Now there is a problem you cant blame on an in-animate object....no matter how hard you try, and that IS the real problem. The rest is just stripping law abiding people of freedom, to accomodate a scumbag or two.
so....when does this country stop being so "civilized" and start handling the real problem?. Not until we have given up every freedom we have apparently.

I agree with you. I would like to see parole boards, governors, judges and psychiatrists who release these people onto society be responsible to the public for their decisions.
i doubt he plans to come out that room alive. so much the better. didn't want to pay his rent or medical anyway. this idiot gives a bad rap to thousands of convicts who come out of prison, and make an honest attempt at turning their lives around. hope the police use the armor piercing rounds on this guy.

Exactly what I was thinking! The grandparents welcomed him back to their home (which should be a place of peace) and gave him a welcome home party and this is what they get in return? They're killed?? I'm so scared about the future of this world, people seem to be going crazy and loosing their minds! It was nothing like this when I was growing up and now the world has changed so much and not necessarily in a good way. Stories like this remind me every day that I'm glad I'm not raising children in this crazy world. I hope this POS guy gets everything that is coming to him. Two crimes that make me the sickest are crimes against the elderly and crimes against children. Leave defenseless people alone!! Oh not, only if a gun is used is their a cry for more control, instead of the death penalty being given to the suspect, with in a week of conviction. If you are murdered with a knive, baseball (#1 weapon) stranglation, etc. then it does not make the news.

BTW, I do own guns, but don't care for them, and leave them @ home. An AR-15 or equivalent is fine with me. I would support 5-round clips over 30-rounds.
Yes, 5-rounds for assault or semi-auto rifles. I want any potential mass-murderer to be inconvenienced by having to re-load often. That will buy time for innocents to escape, or maybe allow brave souls to react during re-load.

This incident should already be over. The police should open up with everything they have on the individual in the motel. Pay the motel owner for the damage and move on to the next crook.
Would some one please find out what the grandsons political party affiliation is, that is critical on how we move forward on this. If he is a democrat it's because he's disturbed, if he is a republican it's because the NRA put him up to it to prove that you can kill a person or two without a gun, conspiracy theorists there is your fodder.
Interesting, they were not shot, but no one will tell how he murdered them. Now if he has used a AR, that is all you would hear on the news. Another so called and miscalled "Assault Rifle" , etc. etc. But since they were murdered via other means, which is what most case's are, then no mention of what or how he murdered them. When the cops announced, a gun wasn't used. 15 reporters lowered their mics and said "oh chit", as they walked away.
I do't thik WA has a death penalty, and since no gun was used in the commission, we won't hear any more about this . . .
